"Hey girls..." Angela calls out.
Jane has set Maura down on the edge of the bathtub. She puts her shirt back on. "I'll go talk to Ma. I'll be right back." She turns to head out the bathroom door. She looks over her shoulder, "Hey, I love you."
"I love you too, Jane."
Jane walks to the kitchen. Angela has bought lots of groceries to help out with food prep, etc. She knows if left up to Jane it'll be burgers and pizza all week.
"Hey, Ma. What are you doing here?", Jane walks over and kisses Angela on the cheek.
"I wanted to pick up a few things for you guys. I want to make sure you eat healthy. Or try to anyway. Can I make you breakfast?"
"No, Ma, thanks. I already cooked breakfast... and Maura said it was good."
"If she had that, then it must have been, since we know she can't lie. What did you make, toast?" Angela laughs as she says that.
"No, Ma. I cooked. I cracked eggs. And separated them too, okay?"
"Wow, Janie. Impressive."
"Thank you. I made her an omelet, 1 egg, 2 egg whites, spinach and cheese. She loved it."
"Where is Maura?"
"She's in the bathroom. I actually need to go help her get cleaned up and get dressed. We're going out for the day. She wants to show me the Museum of Fine Arts thru her eyes."
"Wow. Jane. An art museum. Really?"
"Yeah, Ma. I'm actually looking forward to it. Maura grew up with art and she wants to share that part of her with me. I really do want to share all parts of her life."
Angela puts her arms around her daughter, "Janie, I'm so glad that you've found love. And I love Maura too."
"Thanks, Ma. I love her too. Very much. I need to go check on her."
"Okay. Let me finish putting these groceries away. I'll be out of your hair in a little while."
Jane heads back into the bathroom. Maura has gotten herself cleaned up. "Wow, look at you. You are more independent than I thought you could be. Do you want me to go back to work?"
"Absolutely not. I just thought it would be easier on you if I got myself cleaned up. Now, I do need your help getting dressed. I think a skirt would work best. What did Angela want?"
"She brought over some groceries, you know how she is. Oh, let me pick something sexy for you to wear, although I don't think it'll take much. You are naturally sexy."
"Oh, Jane..."
Jane picks out an Escada houndstooth pencil skirt and a Jonathan Simkahi blouse. She loves the taste Maura has in clothes. They aren't her style at all, but they look amazing on Maura.
Maura is waiting to see what Jane has picked for her to wear.
"You know, Jane. This would be a great opportunity for me to pick out your outfit for the day, but you probably only brought jeans."
"Well, yeah, but I didn't really think I'd need work clothes. I do have a pair of slacks from NY that I haven't worn yet." Jane does that little kid pouty thing she does that is so cute, that Maura finds endearing, "I guess you can pick out a shirt for me."
"No, that's okay baby, you can wear what you want, but just don't wear a t-shirt. Please."
"I promise. I want to look good for you. Oh, man, you are making me into a sap."
Jane gets a pair of black pants out of her suitcase. She has a basic burgandy Calvin Klein blouse she puts on. She wears her signature boots. She picks out a shoe for Maura.
Jane helps Maura with her makeup, she was able to do most of it herself. She gets herself ready to go to. About a half an hour later they are all dressed up and ready to head out for the day. Jane sees all of the food that Angela bought. She really does love her mother, even though she drives her crazy.
"Wow, Angela bought so much. Your mother really is sweet. I'm glad to be a part of your family"
"I am too sweetheart. I love having you in my life. You are an amazing woman."
"Oh Jane. I'm just me. You are amazing."
The two head out. Jane gets Maura into the car and they head to the museum. Jane hasn't been in years but Maura goes frequently, it's a relaxing place for her to go.
Jane hasn't been to the museum in years. There is so much to see. Freida Kahlo. Georgia O'Keefe. Jackson Pollock. Mary Cassatt. John Singer Sargent. Paintings of various Founding Fathers. That's just the American Collection. The European Collection has Rembrandt. Matisse. Renoir. Monet. Manet. Gainsborough. Van Gogh.
Maura is telling Jane about each painting as well as about each artist. This really is a one of a kind experience.
"Maura, I'm really enjoying myself today. You know so much about each of these great pieces of art. I never knew the things you told me. Thank you for sharing this side of you with me."
"Of course Jane. I'm glad I get to share it with you. There is so much I want to share with you. And I want you to share things with me. I want to go to a Bruins game with you. Oh, and a Red Sox game. I know about baseball but I need you to teach me about hockey."
"Oh, sweetheart, I can't wait to do those things with you. We'll have fun. You know, as much as I don't really like it, I'd like to go to the opera with you. I do like the ballet and the symphony isn't bad. I guess we're going to do all of these lovey dovey things together."
"As soon as I get these casts off and can walk on my own again we need to have Olivia and Noah come visit and go to a ballgame."
"Yes, we do. Olivia let me stay at her place while we were in NY, and I grew fond of Noah. It'll be fun to have them here."
"You know what Jane? We've got quite a family. Some are your actual biological family but we have a great extended family with Vince, Barry, Nina, Susie and all of the detectives in NY."
"Yes, we do. I'm glad that you're a part of it.
"Me too. Now, kiss me."
Jane bends down and kisses Maura's lips. Jane loves being able to kiss Maura, finally.
They are ready to leave the museum. Jane gets Maura back into the car and puts the wheelchair in the back. She has plans for a nice romantic lunch.
"I'm a little hungry. Can we grab some lunch while we're out?"
"I already have something planned. We're heading there now."
It's not long before they pull up in front of Ma Maison. "Oh, Jane, this is perfect."
Jane leans over and kisses Maura. "I thought this was a great idea for after the museum. European art and European food. I wanted our first real date to be a good one."
"Oh my gosh. You're right. This is our first date. And it's the best first date I've ever had. Thank you."
