Chapter 2
Amanda didn't have to walk far. She sighed seeing Olivia Benson RA on the door right next to her room number. The more they talked the more sexy she thought she was, but when she saw her friend Alex hug her from behind she knew her thoughts were just wishful thinking.
She opened the door and saw a African American young woman. She was thin and her skin was light. She had curly brown hair and wore it in a loose ponytail. She turned and stood in front of her perfectly made bed. She had plastic drawers under her tall college bed. She saw the stack of textbooks and her computer neatly stacked on her desk. Everything was in perfect order.
Amanda sighed, thinking this wasn't going to work. She was also jealous. She didn't have money for books, a computer, hell not even sheets for her bare bed. her roommate smiled, "Hi! My name is Melinda, Melinda Warner." She extended her hand.
Amanda threw her bags on the empty bed. "I'm Amanda Rollins. It's nice to meet you. I guess we're roommates." They smiled at each other and were both a little scared. Amanda looked again at her side of the room. It was so empty compared to Melinda's.
Melinda looked at the open door. "Are your parents coming with your stuff?" Melinda grew up with money. "My mom is a doctor and my dad is a lawyer." Amanda looked at her pictures on her desk already set up.
Amanda shook her head and shut the door, "Umm no, this is it." Melinda wondered what she was going to sleep on. The bed was just a mattress and no way did she have sheets in the small bags. Melinda hopped on her bed while Amanda unpacked. She had some undergarments, jeans and shirts, but not much else.
Melinda explained she was a pre-med major and she had a lot of school ahead of her. "Hey, look on the bright side if you get sick, I can practice on you." Amanda looked at her mattress. She thought about asking Olivia for help, but she wasn't big on asking for anything. "Hey, do you want to go grab dinner at the dining hall?"
Amanda looked at her pictures. Melinda must have been an only child. Her family looked picture perfect. They probably didn't have one problem. Amanda shook her head. She knew everyone had problems, but the way they handled the problems was what mattered. "You look like you have a nice family. You're lucky."
Amanda thought the food sounded great. She didn't know how to tell her she didn't have any money for that. Instead she agreed, figuring when they got close she would dip out and grab a candy bar.
They walked out and she saw Olivia and Alex still talking. When Olivia looked up, Amanda looked away. Olivia watched them leave. "Alex, did you see those small bags? No way does she have what she needs." Alex warned her not to interfere, but Olivia had to check.
She opened the door and saw Melinda's side set up and Amanda's wasn't. Alex sighed, "I don't think RA means to go through her personal belongings. Olivia rolled her eyes. She didn't touch anything, she just observed.
She walked around the small room and the bathroom. "Alex, she's me, maybe worse. I have to help her." Alex didn't say anything, she watched her leave to help her way.
Olivia went to her room and looked in the closet. She had a collection of things that were donated in case this happened. She grabbed a blue comforter set, because blue matched her beautiful eyes. She grabbed toiletries. Alex watched her best friend, "You know she may think you are a stalker. You are crossing the line right now. This could go the wrong direction Liv."
Olivia listened but made her bed and left the things on top. Alex helped her and looked around. Olivia laughed, "Now who's snooping?" Alex explained soap and toothpaste were fine, but she didn't have anything, not even a computer. "Okay, so she needs a lot. This is a start."
Amanda looked at the huge building to eat. She was hungry, "Hey, I need to run in the school store and check on a class. I'll meet you." Melinda waved and didn't think twice. She was smart, but very naive when it came to these situations. Amanda didn't have everything handed to her, she worked for everything.
Amanda went to the store and found a Snickers. She put it on the counter with two dollars. The older lady said, "Badge." Amanda shrugged asking why, it was just a candy bar. "Baby, you need your badge for everything." Amanda handed it over and watched her scan it. She rang it up. "You get a discount using your badge at the stores on campus. And I'm not your mom, but you have three whole meals on your plan for a reason. You should go eat dinner."
Amanda was confused, "I don't have a meal plan. I…" the lady turned the screen. Amanda saw her picture that Olivia took and saw a meal plan, 3 meals a day. Amanda grabbed her candy, thanked the older woman, and met Melinda. She ate so much she was stuffed. She even took a banana and ice cream cone to go.
They walked back and Amanda looked for Olivia to thank her, she knew the meal plan had to be her. She didn't see her and her door was shut. When they walked in the room Amanda saw her bed. Melinda smiled seeing that someone was looking out for her roommate. "Well, maybe your parents came after all."
Amanda liked Melinda immediately and that didn't happen often. "Melinda, I don't have a good family. I'm on my own and have been for a while. She explained her dad was a drug user with a bad alcohol and gambling addiction. Her mother left when she was pregnant long ago. "She didn't take me. I don't even know if I have a sister or a brother."
Melinda had loving parents and couldn't relate, but she could sympathize. "Who do you think did all of this for you?" Amanda smiled, having a good idea. Melinda listened as Amanda talked about the encounter with the mysterious Olivia Benson. "Hey, she is pretty and nice. My parents met her on the way and out. She promised I was in good hands." Amanda laughed knowing Melinda would never be with another woman. "I've never had a boyfriend or a girlfriend. My parents didn't allow me to have either. "I'm pretty sure guys are for me though, but I'm not judging."
They sat on the bed and had a girl talk. Amanda shared her experiences. She had a boyfriend for two years and lost her virginity. Amanda thought it was love until he screwed another girl leaving her heartbroken. Amanda began to think that being friends with each other would be a good thing. "I kind of experimented a little after that. I like both." Melinda smiled, living in her fantasy life. "Melinda, I can help with your love life." They laughed and enjoyed each other's conversation.
Amanda looked at the clock and saw 8:45. "I guess I should find Olivia and thank her." Melinda grabbed her book to start reading ahead. She winked and told her not to get lost. Amanda walked next door, not knowing what she would or should say.
Amanda knocked on Olivia's door. Olivia opened it. She was wearing a long black Hudson T-shirt with boy boxers. Amanda saw a baseball on the shirt. Amanda's eyes wandered down her long tan legs. "Well, it's Amanda Rollins. What's up kid?" Olivia thought she was young and was feeling her out. She didn't know what this was, but she wanted to figure it out.
Amanda squinted, she hated that, but she couldn't be rude now. "You helped me didn't you?" Amanda squeezed her hands together. Her tone was harsher than she meant it to be. Amanda was a little rough around the edges. She was stubborn and rebellious.
Olivia walked in the room after she smiled, "Did you enjoy dinner?" Amanda followed her, nodded, and noticed the name Drake on the back of her shirt. "I just figured you didn't want to sleep on a mattress." Amanda nodded again. "You know Amanda, we all need help sometimes. You don't seem like a person that will ask and I'm not a mind reader, so I'm here to help. I stepped over the boundaries today, but I won't continue to do so. I have control."
Olivia walked close to her face seeing her beautiful blue eyes look at her body up and down. "I definitely think control is something you lack." Amanda was shorter, but she looked in Olivia's chocolate brown eyes. "Anything else I can do?" Amanda thought that was a loaded question. Amanda shook her head, "Ok, goodnight kid."
Olivia walked away and took Amanda's breath with her. She was so close to her lips, they could have kissed. That's something Amanda would have loved.
Amanda turned and walked out but turned back, "I don't like that." Olivia looked a bit confused. "Don't call me kid. And don't call me Rollins." Amanda was embarrassed, she was a kid. She had know idea what she was doing or how to do it.
Olivia respected her wishes, "Goodnight Amanda. Sleep tight." Amanda left and smiled. When she got to the room, she fell with her back against the door. She saw Melinda coming out of the shower and decided she should go next.
She grabbed her bag of things Olivia left for her. She turned on the shower to let it warm. She pulled out a toothbrush and toothpaste and brushed her teeth. She wiped her mouth and that only reminded her of Olivia's lips. She thought they looked incredibly soft. She pulled out soap and lotion.
Amanda let the warm water hit her pale skin and as she rubbed the soap across her body, she smelled Olivia's scent. She smiled knowing she probably did it on purpose. She felt wetness between her legs and felt relieved she was in the shower. Olivia Benson was doing things to her body and what little control she did have was dwindling. She dried off, put lotion on her body, and got dressed for bed.
She came out to see Melinda asleep across her book. She moved it and covered her up. She climbed in her own bed. The sheets and blanket were so soft and comfortable. She felt safe and safety was something that she couldn't even remember. She stared at the ceiling thinking of Olivia and fell asleep.
