A/N: I just binge watched OUAT again. Then Julia Michaels "Issues" came on and I got an idea! Maybe it's not that new of a story idea. But hopefully my story is. Writing is my outlet. And I know I have other stories open…But I must follow my muse.
Contains sensitive material: Alcohol use, marijuana use, narcotic abuse, eating disorder behaviors, mentions of physical and sexual abuse, and eventual sex between two women.
This story is set after Emma calls off her engagement to Hook and he disappears.

Chapter 1
After Hook disappeared. Emma locked herself in her house and shut off her phone.
The Savior shut down.
A few days later Regina and Henry sat in Granny's diner having breakfast.
"Henry, how is Emma doing?" Regina asks casually.
"I think she's depressed. She hasn't left her room since she packed up all Hook's stuff. I hear her crying sometimes." Henry answers. Then he stuffs a big bite of pancake in his mouth.
Regina frowns. It didn't make her feel good to hear her friend was broken hearted.
Music blasted from Emma's speaker while she sat on her bed rolling a blunt.
I'm kickin' back
I'm vibin
I'm chillin
I'm good
She finished rolling up, snatched her lighter off her nightstand and lit up. She held the first hit in until she felt herself choke then she exhaled her hit.
"Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit." Emma says out loud.
She thought about the argument she had with Killian before he disappeared.
Had she been wrong to give him back the ring?
Isn't he the one that lied?
He murdered her grandfather for fuck sake!
She shook her head and took a deep hit off her blunt. No, she decided, she did the right thing. It still hurts to just be left without a single word.
After Emma finished her blunt and had an amazing high she ordered Chinese food. She ate a couple soup dumplings and an egg roll before she passed out in a weed coma on her couch.
Regina laid in her bed staring at pictures of her, Emma and Henry. Her family. Emma was her friend. But she was also the birth Mother of her son. So, Emma is her family. Her baby Mama. How Emma would put it.
She was about to text Emma when she remembered Henry telling her that Emma said she was shutting off her phone for a few days. She decided to magically send a message to Emma:
"Have drinks with me tomorrow after work, Emma. Let me be your friend this time. - Regina"
Emma held Regina's note in her hand and smiled to herself. It made her feel good to know that even though she asked for space, her family and friends still cared about her and wanted to be there for her. She put the note in her nightstand drawer and snatched up her bottle of Fireball and took a deep swig. She enjoyed the burn as the alcohol hit the back of her throat.
After drinking almost half the bottle of the whiskey, and 3 huge bong rips, Emma was feeling good as hell! She was also starting to get hungry. She knew if she didn't eat soon she would puke. She decided to reheat some of her Chinese from earlier and eat that.
"Chinese is good as fuck, when you're fucked up!" Emma shouts.
She doesn't care she's alone.
She's used to being alone.
She was having drinks with her best friend, Regina tomorrow. That soothed her for the night.
Emma woke up before her alarm and started a shower. She was excited for work to be over so she could have drinks with Regina.
'Why am I so excited? It's just Regina.' Emma thought.
She shook off the thoughts that were forming. She couldn't even go there.
She got dressed and realized she was early enough to stop by Granny's diner and get fresh, hot coffee.
As soon as the little bell above the door gave Emma's arrival away, all eyes were on her. She stood frozen in the door way, heat creeping up her neck to her ears.
"Everyone mind your damn business and leave the Savior alone!" Granny, finally barks after a few awkward moments.
"Thanks Granny." Emma says softly before dropping into her usual booth.
Ruby rushes to Emma's table with a friendly smile on her face. "Good morning, Emma. What can I get for you?"
"I'll just have some coffee, Rubes thanks." Emma said.
"Be right back." Ruby says, putting her notepad back in her apron pocket.
Emma pulls out her phone and starts playing Bejeweled. She's so engrossed she doesn't hear the familiar click of heels or the body drop into the other side of the booth until -
Ahem. Regina clears her throat.
Emma startles and drops her phone onto the table. "Regina! Hey."
"Good morning, Emma. Are we on for this evening?" Regina asks.
"Yes." Emma answers.
"Good, shall I pick you up at the station?" Regina asks.
"I can walk over to your office and we can go over to the bar together." Emma suggests.
"I'll see you this evening Emma." Regina stands from the booth and squeezes Emma's arm as she passes by.
When Regina saw Emma's blond curls, she rushed right over.
She thought over the whole interaction on her way to her office.
Was it strange?
No, they share a son. They are best friends.
'Snap out of it Regina. Tonight is about seeing what's going on with Emma.' She thought.
She couldn't wait.
The rest of the day went by way too slow for the both of them.
David made a fatherly speech about punching Hook if he ever showed his face around StoryBrooke again. He also begged her to come to dinner to ease her overly worried Mother.
Regina was in back to back meetings that never seemed to end.
Until…
Finally! It was the end of the day.
Emma was practically jogging over to Regina's office at the Town Hall. She was looking forward to having some drinks and cutting loose!
Regina was fluffing her hair and refreshing her makeup when she heard Emma knock on her office door.
"Come in Emma." Regina calls.
Emma pushes open the door and checks Regina out. "You look great Regina!"
"Thank you Emma. You look like you have lost some weight." Regina says looking Emma over.
"I…uh…yeah, you ready to go get our drink on?" Emma asks motioning towards the door.
"Indeed." Regina smiled and met Emma at the door.
They walked to the Rabbit Hole in comfortable silence. When they walked in the door, they headed towards a semi private booth in the back and sat down.
"How shall we start off tonight, Emma?" Regina asked.
"Shots! Definitely shots! I'll go get a round." Emma slipped out of the booth and headed over to the bar to get their shots.
After the first round Emma was starting to feel relaxed. She hadn't eaten since she picked at Chinese food the day before and had a nice buzz going on. She was bouncing to the music in her seat.
Regina watched Emma start to relax and have a good time. This is exactly what she wanted.
"Emma, do you wanna dance?" Regina asked boldly.
"Hell yes! I love this song!" Emma slips out of the booth and practically drags Regina onto the dance floor.
They start swaying to the music, letting their bodies follow the rythym.
Regina leaned forward, "Are you having a good time dear?"
"Yeah, I really am. Thanks for this." Emma said cracking a real smile.
"I know one evening out, doesn't make you miss Captain Guy- I mean Hook, any less." Regina said sucking her teeth.
"I know he wasn't your favorite person." Emma chuckled.
She swallowed. She needed to confess something.
"Regina, honestly I don't miss Hook. It's just he abandoned me. He left me behind without a single thought…just like everyone else."
Regina stopped dancing at Emma's revelation. She grabs Emma's hand and pulls her closer to her body and leans in to her ear. "I'm here for you Emma and I'm not leaving."
Emma shakes her head. "Everyone does. But I deserve it."
Regina just held Emma tighter. She didn't know what to say at that moment. She could only prove by her actions she was different.
