So, I don't normally write two stories at the same time. I started this one when my muse for the other began to dry up. Somehow, I managed to complete both! :-D

Short chapters to start but things will pick up.
Hope you like. Thoughts always!

Chapter One - Prologue

Boston MA - Present

A din of angry voices, clattering pots and pans, and distant, excited chattering filled Regina's head. Her stomach churned, her head swam and her vision dimmed. The hands holding her arms shook her, bringing her focus back to the room and the precarious situation in which she found herself. Panic and adrenaline filled her as she struggled against her captor.

"Do you know what we do here with thieves?" a gruff voice hissed into her ear.

Visions of police cars, handcuffs and cell bars assaulted her mind. "I wasn't stealing. Please!" She looked at the broken plate on the floor and the scattered remnants of someone's dinner. Hunger gnawed at her. "It was going in the trash anyway. What does it matter?"

The gruff voice started up again but another wave of dizziness passed over her and obscured it. The pitiful amount of food she'd managed to secrete for herself before it was thrown away had barely touched the ache inside, but now it threatened to make a come-back. Across the room, a door opened, allowing a surge of laughter and frivolity to penetrate her thoughts. The sound sparked memories of simpler times; before her life was turned on its head; before she lost everything.

Almost everything.

A new voice cut through the chaos of accusations and threats. She wanted to look, to see what new nightmare had been summoned to further muddy her fate but black spots arrested her vision and her legs wobbled.

The last thing she remembered before she blacked out was a flash of blonde hair and a pair of warm, green eyes.
