Generalius: I've got plans for Starline and Surge's interaction. Now, Sonic would have been angry if any of his friends were taken by Eggman. That being said, yeah, you could view it as the start of the spark if you want.
Sarafinamk: Surge has a lovely habit of being difficult to control. I really went with making them somewhat likable. Hope you continue to enjoy.
GOD FANFICSPEES SUPER 16: Two of me? Well… I could be in two places at once… maybe.
YAKNOWSMTNG: When I started this story, that was focus, how do Sonic and Surge bounce off eachother? I'm glad you liked it, and more is here.
/*-*/
Surge zipped forward through the rocky cave. Fuck that stupid fucking mole for causing the collapse. She saw a rock in front of her, but she was Surge the fucking Tenrec. Surge leapt over the rock and landed on one knee, before bolting off towards the exit.
Surge swerved out of the way of more collapsing rocks, running jagged strokes, but making it out of the exit, skidding to a halt next to the Fennec and echidna, "Woohoo! Fuck yeah! Kiss my Ass you fatass!" Surge shouted, throwing a fist up.
Tails and Kit looked around concerned. What was wrong with them? Surge looked around, "What's the matter with- Shit!" They were down a man.
Surge scanned around for the blue faker, "Yo, Bitch, where are you?" Surge shouted out.
Tails turned towards the cave entrance, "He's still inside!"
Surge's eyes widened. She bolted back into the cave, the rumbling telling her that time was of the essence.
Surge growled, scanning around for something. She looked at the ground, and zipped past a collapsing rock. She was really not liking the idea of getting crushed.
Surge frantically looked around for something to grasp at, but the lights that had illuminated the cave were either on the ground or broken. Surge couldn't stop moving, because being fucking crushed did not sound like a fun weekend project.
Surge slid to the side. It'd be great if faker could just zip out of the dust or something. Just magically appear right in front of her or some shit.
Surge tripped over something, and heard a light gasp. Surge turned around to see a couple red shoes sticking out of a rock.
"Shit! Come on faker, We got to go!" Surge shouted, feeling her heart rate spike. There was no way she could leave him there, but if she stayed for much longer…
Surge slammed into the rock, "Come on, work with me, asshole." Surge slammed against the rock again. Still, nothing but silence on his end.
Surge realized that she was going to have to make a tough decision. She was going to leave him there. Surge pulled away, and panted as rocks continued to fall around them.
He didn't drop her. He didn't leave her. Surge grit her teeth. Like hell she was going let him go.
She growled, "The shit I do for my friends. Fuck you, man." Surge curled up into a ball and flung herself at the rock, making it explode into bits. She kicked off the bits of rocks to see the gash in Sonic's head. That did not look good.
Surge didn't have time to become a fucking medical professional, though. She lifted Sonic onto her back, and bolted for the exit, "Come on buddy, fuckin talk to me or something."
She zipped around another falling rock.
Kill him…. Kill Sonic
"Shut up, asshole!" Surge shouted, before she laid eyes on the white light shining through the exit. Surge bolted towards it, the sound of debris falling behind her being a powerful fucking motivator. She kept going, carrying Faker on her back. He wasn't too heavy, but he added a lot space to not bang on the fucking walls.
Surge still dodged and weaved to not get hit, before bursting out as dust followed her, knocking her to the ground. Surge lifted herself up and shook her head. She saw the blue hedgehog laying there on the ground. Surge zipped over.
"Come on, buddy. Get up." Surge groaned, shaking him as the others came in. The Echidna walked over looking down at Sonic with a stoic face. One Surge couldn't replicate.
"Come on, Asshole, This is how you pay me back? I dragged your ass out of that fucking cave. Some friend you are!" Surge shouted, hoping for a response.
Tails seemed torn up. He bowed his head.
Surge dropped to her knees.
YES HE'S DEAD! HE'S DEAD!
Starline was really starting to get annoying. Of course now he would fucking-
"He…. Hehehe." Sonic laughed with a rumbling stomach, "You called me your friend. You do care."
Surge pulled her fist back as he opened his eyes, only to be restrained by her own little buddy, "YOU PIECE OF SHIT! You could have helped me!"
NO! KILL SONIC!
Sonic laughed, "I-I know… I'm sorry. So… are we really friends?" Sonic asked with a smug grin on his face.
Surge wanted to punch the shit out of him… but he was right, "Yeah… fucking yeah, we're friends."
Sonic rubbed the back of his head with a smile, wincing when he touched the cut. Surge picked him up by the shoulder, with his fox friend coming and helping with the other one.
"Let's get you home and patched up Sonic. Make sure you didn't lose any more brain cells." The Fox chuckled.
"Oh come on buddy, I'm fine…Durr….." Sonic made a face that made Surge almost chuckle.
"Not cool, hedgehog. We don't need you dying." The red Echidna growled.
Sonic waved him off, "Relax, I'm not dying any time soon." He pulled out a warp ring, and tossed it towards the wall. They exited out in front of the garage.
Surge saw Kit following Tails closely, watching his every move. The Red Echidna went with them to the house. Surge carried the blue asshole up to the house, where he stretched, and ran inside. Surge came in to find Knuckles standing in the living room, his arms crossed.
She could hear Sonic in the upstairs, and the clinking of rings healing him.
"So… You're Surge the Tenrec, the basket-case troublemaker who caused the city so much trouble. Who attempted to kill Sonic, along with a couple of recruits." The Red Echidna growled, balling a fist.
"What, you find that shit in a file? Yeah, that's me dumbass." Surge groaned, before seeing the file folder behind the red echidna, "You really just looked my ass up with a five minute skim, didn't you, asshole."
"You got quite a mouth on you." The Red Echidna growled.
"Well, Yeah, I'm the fucking devil your hero made a deal with. That reminds me, YO, BITCH! You owe me a lunch!" Surge shouted up the stairs.
"I heard you… I'll take care of it in a little bit… don't you think it's a little early?" Sonic called out, yawning.
Surge saw Tails and Kit come down the stairs, they ran and bolted to the door connecting them to the garage. Sonic came down a few moments later, "Knuckles, stop harassing the lady. We both know you aren't going to do anything. You've got a date with your girlfriend."
"That bat is not my girlfriend!" The Echnida growled, giving Surge some nice ammunition against the red idiot.
"I was actually talking about that big rock you're married to." Sonic laughed with a grin.
The Echidna's eyes widened in anger, before he shook "The Master Emerald! I have to get back to it now!"
Sonic laughed, "Relax, Restoration put camera's on your island, and as you can guess, no one wants your stupid rock."
Surge grinned, "Probably the second dumbest thing on his shitty island." She looked at Sonic for support.
"Oh no, depending on if Egghead is there or not, it's the third." Sonic joined in her jab.
"What's the first?" The Echidna growled, balling his fist.
"Take a guess." Sonic grinned.
Knuckles stomped his foot, "Oh that's it! Screw you!"
He walked out the door, and slammed it shut. Surge looked at Sonic with a bit of concern.
"He'll be back. He's just making a show of it." Sonic shrugged. The door opened up to prove his point, and the red Echidna walked in.
"You know what, we are going to get grapes for lunch. You owe me." Knuckles growled, stomping inside.
Sonic sighed, "Sure, why not."
Faker seemed to stretch his back, like an old ass man. Surge really got her shit kicked in by this guy?
Sonic then looked at Surge, "I could use a nap, can we put a rain check on that lunch until after a bit?"
Surge rolled her eyes and growled, "Are you shitting me? You sai-" She stopped herself as she looked over Sonic. He looked pretty fucked up. She saw the scratches on his chest, which were partially healed, along with bruises and the gash. He had really just sat there as the rocks pummeled him.
Surge sighed, and rolled her eyes, "Fuck it, I'm not too hungry anyway." That was supposed to be the end of it.
The Red Echidna had other ideas, "Well I am, we'll get lunch, then you can be a lazy little hog." Knuckles growled.
Surge balled a fist, "Hey, Asshole, you're not the only one who's been through shit. We need a break." She grit her teeth as the Echidna cocked his head aggressively.
"Oh yeah, Well I haven't been eating, so quit being a pest-" Knuckles was cut off by Sonic.
"ALRIGHT! We'll go eat lunch." Sonic sighed, shaking himself, "I'll get the warp ring and we can hit the diner."
Surge growled, "Oh come on, you can take one fucking thirty minute nap-"
"Surge, thanks, but I can take it later." Sonic groaned, before zipping past Surge and re-appearing with two very confused foxes in his arms.
Kit hoped down, "N-Now what?" He sounded nervous.
Surge groaned, "We're getting stabbed, what do you think? We're going to get lunch. " She tapped her foot as Faker ran up the stairs.
He returned with a warp ring, and they went outside.
Sonic stood there with a slight droop in his shoulders. He was still a little woozy, Surge could tell. At least he wasn't being a little bitch about it. He tossed the warp ring, and they stepped out in front of the diner.
Surge could see Alice pouring drinks for a couple through the windows. They walked in, but Kit did not shoot ahead. Instead, he followed behind Surge, much like how Tails was following behind Sonic.
Surge and Sonic both stopped, and let their little buddies in. The Red Echidna looked between the two as they went in afterwards, followed by Knuckles himself joining them. He cramped the booth, but that was to be expected. Wasn't built for a bunch of fat asses.
"Hey… Thanks." Sonic locked his fingers together and set his hands on the table.
"What the fuck are you going on about now?" Surge groaned, scratching the inside of her right ear. She scrapped some stuff out, and flicked it off into the floor.
"You went back for me… Thanks, it really does mean a lot." Sonic smiled at her.
Surge found herself frozen.
Sonic laughed, "Relax, it's not embarrassing. You went and saved me. That's no small feat."
Surge blinked a bit. What was this bitch going on about? Surge realized her face felt a little hot. Ok, maybe she didn't want him announcing to the world she was going fucking soft.
"Just shut the fuck up." Surge groaned, shaking her head, "Just get on with a lesson about some "Freedom" or "Nobility" or some bullshit."
"You're a hero, Surge." Sonic got serious, with a soft… proud… smile.
Surge found herself stiffening up at that ,"Just like that?"
"It just takes one good deed. One moment where you say, "I'm going to do the right thing, even if it hurts me". That's all it takes." Sonic continued to grin at her… before chuckling slightly.
Surge felt a little tail rub up her side as she saw Sonic cackling in a fit. She saw the Tails smiling, and saw his large, fluffy tails digging into Sonic's side.
Surge turned and realized Kit was trying the same, but he was focused on the little yellow shit.
"What? You think I'm ticklish in my sides?" Surge snorted, as Kit tried in vain, before drooping down. Surge rolled her eyes as she realize she now had to fake laughing… until the Tail went to the small of her back.
Surge grinned as her cheeks puffed up. Kit looked up at Surge, before looking back at Tails. Determination filled his eyes as he continued his assault with Surge. What she had hoped would be an act quickly became a real fucking reaction.
Surge tried to clench her jaw, but the giggles still rang out, before her jaw gave way, and finally let out a roaring laugh.
Several booths turned to face them. Sonic and Tails had frozen.
"W-What?" Surge growled as Drippy quickly pulled his tail back to himself.
"Sorry… I just thought you all were getting a little too serious and tense. That's not good for Sonic." Tails smiled, scratching the back of his ears lightly.
Faker nodded, "Dude… It's alright. We're good now."
As Surge was about to get up, Alice came by… and set a bowl of grapes in front of Knuckles, "Welcome back."
"Alice… You're trying to seduce me, aren't you?" Knuckles eyes had stars in them as he looked at the bowl.
"Oh… don't you go starting rumors now. But we always recognize the grape monster." Alice smiled before turning to them, "Can I get you something to drink."
"Water for me." Sonic groaned.
"Shouldn't you be at a hospital? You don't look good?" Alice noted about Sonic. Surge wasn't the only one.
"Well, I never!" Faker put up a fake anger, "Do you insult all of your guests like that?"
"What will you be having to drink?" Alice turned to Tails, Not even giving the faker a response. He flashed a fake wounded look at Surge, who snickered.
KILL SONIC, KILL SONIC! KILL HIM NOW!
Surge cut her laughter out as she clenched up, clutching her head as a migraine rolled through.
"What will you be having to drink?" Ally asked, the ignorant bitch clearly not caring.
"J-Just shut the fuck up for a moment!" Surge growled clutching her head, before sighing, "… J-Just water."
She hated Starline. She hated him so much.
Alice passed her a look but wrote it down, and walked off. Surge panted as her head continued to hurt like a bitch.
Sonic looked at her with caution, "Are you going to be alright?"
"I'm fucking fine." Surge shook it off as the pain subsided.
Waters came back and Alice looked down at Knuckles, "So, what would you like to eat?"
"I'll take a grilled cheese." The Red idiot smiled.
"Yeah, I'll take the grilled cheese too." Faker followed up.
"One more for me." Tails waved.
"I'd like a grilled cheese, please." Kit mumbled, waving a hand like Tails.
Surge realized after a moment that Alice was waiting on her. Surge growled, "What, are you fucking stupid? Five grilled cheeses for the table."
Alice grit her teeth, but wrote it down. She shook her head as she walked off.
Sonic looked at Surge with such disappointment. She actually felt… worried. She called out to Alice, "Yo… Thanks bitch."
Alice seemed to catch the words, and snorted slightly.
Surge slumped back in the booth.
"You know, you could be a little nicer." Sonic gave her a soft, sad smile.
"Fuck that." Surge groaned, "I'm gonna be me. Fuck you and everyone else."
The food came out surprisingly quick. Surge bit into cold cheese on toast. Everyone else seemed to have their cheese melted into the bread.
"Hey, what the fuck is this?" Surge growled, standing up.
Alice turned and smiled, "A grilled cheese. That's all."
Surge realize she was actually fucking mocking her. That's bullshit!
Surge grit her teeth, and ate the stupid cheese sandwich. She was going to burn this place down.
She saw her plate get pulled away by Sonic, and his plate went to her. She saw the golden crust of the grilled cheese, and took a bite. That was fantastic. Crunchy, salty and delicious. Surge practically moaned at the goodness.
He ate her cold cheese sandwich and Surge ate half of his. She then stopped, before sighing, and pushing his sandwich back to him. She felt… something itch inside her. She didn't like to be indebted to him.
Sonic pushed the plate back, before Surge growled, "I'm fucking full."
He recoiled slightly, but nodded, setting down the quarter of the cheese sandwich and picking up his old one.
They finished up, and went back to the house. Sonic was clear, "I'm tired, Knuckles, you start a fight with her, and I'll hide your little rock and watch you drown."
"You can't do that!" The Red Echidna growled, and followed Sonic upstairs. She saw the gash in his head was healed, but it looked like a bruise was still there. She heard a ring flip, and saw a slight flash from the hallway.
Surge looked at Kit, who was busy looking at Tails. Tails piped up, "Ready to go and work on the tornado?"
"Y-Yeah!" Kit piped up and ran with him. Leaving Surge alone.
She walked over to the couch, and sat down. She booted up the console and pulled out another game from the Fox's hidden stash. This one had a large truck crushing a car on the front of it. Surge started it, and just ran stuff over.
Kit was with Tails. He was enjoying the time. Tails was way nicer than her. The little guy belonged here.
She didn't. She was going to be alone when this whole deal with Sonic was said and done. Not so bad. She could always annoy the town. Heck Sonic would have to pay her a visit, and she could get a couple good hits in.
Kill Sonic, Kill him!
Surge growled. She would be alone. She didn't like that at all, but she knew it was true. Surge sighed, tapping her foot as the monster truck rolled over another set of pedestrians. She didn't want to be alone, but she had too much baggage for anyone to suffer through.
I was made to destroy Sonic. I can't exactly keep a friendship with that stupid programming. I'd kill him in his sleep eventually.
Surge finally had to say it. He was her friend. The first real friend she had. Surge knew she wasn't a fucking genius, but even she knew that Kit wasn't her friend. He was programmed, the same as her. Desperate to please that bitch's coding instead of resisting it.
Maybe Sonic was so stupidly nice that he just acted like a friend to her. Maybe once this was done, he'd leave her alone to figure things out. He said otherwise, but talk is cheap.
Surge began to stomp her foot in annoyance. She wished he was in here, with her, talking her through the crazy storm that burning her stomach and heart.
Surge found herself thinking about Sonic's words. Her past didn't matter? Surge tapped her foot, wondering how true that was? Would it really matter if she found out who she was? She was probably very different than who she was before.
Surge slumped back, and sighed. She wished this was easier. She wished Sonic was down here. Whatever, she could make it on her own… when the time came.
Surge heard a snickering as she plowed over several more pedestrians. She looked up and saw the massive badonka-bat laughing, "Oh I remember this game."
Surge growled up at her, "What the hell are you here for?"
"Me… oh I'm just checking on an old friend…. Oh Knuckie!" She called out and flew upwards.
Surge almost laughed when she heard Knuckles cry out in anger, "Get away from me, you vile vixen!"
"Oh… no need for name calling."
Surge smirked, before sighing. The game wasn't scratching the itch anymore. She needed this adventure to be over.
Surge stood up, and ran outside. She ran circles around the house. She wanted to be free.
KILLl SONIC! KILL SONIC!
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UP!" Surge screamed as she ran around in circles, "I'll do this and be done with him!"
"Be done with me?" Surge turned as she ran and saw Sonic running along side her.
She skidded to a halt, and Sonic stood by her, "So… Are you alright?"
"He's still here! He's everywhere, damn it!" Surge stomped, she grit her teeth.
"Starline? I'm sorry." Sonic said pitifully.
"I don't need your pity!" Surge shouted at him, balling her fists.
"It's not pity. I'm here to help you." Sonic smiled at her, and pulled her into a hug. "None of us got here alone. You've got me, Kit and Tails."
Surge pulled away, "How fucking naïve do you think I am? You think I'll just trust you?" She was panicking, and she didn't know why.
"You aren't looking for my trust. You can't trust yourself." Sonic sighed, and held a hand as if it were obvious.
Surge recoiled. Sonic continued, "You keep listening to Starline in your head. Listen to me, and trust me. I'll do what I can for you."
Surge growled, and turned around, tapping her foot, "You make it sound so fucking easy. You know what, I can do it Tuesday. No fucking problem." Surge rolled her eyes.
"I don't know. It's probably not easy. But I know you can do it. I wouldn't put that trust in anyone else, but you are really strong. You can do anything, you just… need help sometimes. We're here for you if want to talk." Sonic turned around.
If she wanted to talk? Oh she definitely did. Surge slumped down in the grass, and looked up at the sky. To be a hero, or enjoy the freedom of a villain. To be a hero was just too easy to be real. She knew there was going to be a catch, and when faker finished with his act, She could pummel him with ease.
Surge sat up.
It doesn't matter who you were. What matters is what you are going to do.
He was right about that. To hell with Starline. He wasn't going to control anything else. She was free, and She was going to be free just to dance on Starline as he begged for mercy. That was a promise.
/*-*/
So… I didn't want Surge to be a damsel in distress, But now she saved Sonic. Everyone saved everyone so no one is weaker or lesser. I feel slightly confident in that little fact.
What I don't feel confident in is that I was originally going to have a Karaoke bit, but I couldn't find one that fit the tone( Again, this section wasn't planned, so I'm sort of scrambling). This part was easily my weakest part in this whole fic, and I am sorry for the bump it leaves anyone.
I have a poll on my profile, I would like everyone to participate in it. Please leave a review and I'll respond in the next chapter. PM me if you want something sooner, or want to keep it private.
