Twelve-year old Sam wants to know where his brother Dean goes at night and where he gets all the money from. Dean has always taken care of him and he's worried. He's old enough now to start asking the questions that will shed new light on their less than normal situation. There's only one thing he knows for sure. He will never, ever be like his father. Castiel wanted so badly to remain unaffected by the humans he was now working with but Dean always seemed to take priority.

In Owensboro, Kentucky, a string of brutal murders have Sam and Dean stumped. Victims being killed by 'strangers' make a quiet town into a scared one-fast. While the boys look for the cause, they discover an ancient family history that proves to be quite dangerous, and it has to be stopped, before even more murders turn the town upside down.

Castiel's grace is fading too fast. He and Sam are searching for Dean, desperate to save his demonized soul. But as he becomes more human, he begins to lose his control on his own mind. Hallucinations show him his fears of what Dean has become. Dreams show him what could have been. And, in the end, reality will show him how little influence what he feels can really have.

She becomes tangled up in the plot and isn't sure how she got there or if she'll ever get back home. Only, ever since Sam injected his blood into him, trying to close the Gates of Hell, Crowley has been stuck with those wretched human feelings, an addiction to human blood and the desire to be loved.
