Deja Vu

Halloween 1994

Harry was running again. Did he need to run this time? No, but just hours ago he was running for his life through these halls while warding off death eaters so he just had to run. "Walking Lady and Gentlemen!" Professor Burbage said as they passed her not really bothering to look up from her book.

"Harry!" Hermione yelled and came to a stop.

"Harry come on, why are we running!" Ron also stopped. Harry had forgot how Ronald followed everything Hermione said… when he was talking to her.

Harry rolled his eyes and came to a stop, "Come on guys we have to go and once we get there I'll explain everything." He started again, walking this time to the 7th floor.

Harry heard foot steps behind him and then Ron say, "At least tell us where were going, and don't you dare say Room of whatever again"

Harry rolled his eyes again, was 14 year old Ron always his annoying? "Okay fine, we're going to the seventh floor tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy."

Ron and Hermione shared a look that did not get past Harry. The look said, "he's lost it."

"Why don't we go see Hagrid instead? We haven't been down to see him in a while" Hermione said trying to redirect him.

She wasn't wrong of course, they did go see Hagrid before the feast in fourth year. It had helped prove Harry's innocent from putting his name in the fire. "After this," Harry said and continued walking.

When they reached the tapestry Harry turned and walked by the door three times thinking "I need the place where things are hidden" "I need the place where things are hidden" "I need the place where things are hidden" and on cue the door appeared. Hermione and Ron both gasped and Harry just smirked.

"Blimey how'd you know about this" Ron asked amazed.

"Lets get inside and I'll tell you everything that I can," Harry said while opening the door for his two best friends.

They walked inside to see the mess of junk and it was exactly the room Harry needed at the moment. He needed the room where the Diadem was hidden so he could start earlier. He also needed to see if there was an object here that could explain why he was knocked out under a pile of things in 1998 and woke up in 1994.

"Three hours ago I was running through this room in search of my old potions book from 6th year and the Diadem of Ravenclaw" Harry started to explain.

"Harry -" Hermione started, always the first to correct someone when something didn't make sense.

"Let me finish Hermione, I know that doesn't make sense to you," Harry said cutting her off with the raising of his hand. "As I was saying, three hours ago you two were helping me look for this diadem when Malfoy found me. Crabbe and Goyle were with him and Crabbe started throwing curses around the room causing piles of ... stuff to fall. After a scuffle I stunned Malfoy and he flew into a tower of objects that came crashing on to the both of us and the next thing I knew I was being awaken in 1994 with Ron throwing a pillow at my face talking about the Goblet of Fire!" Harry said looking Ron. They had not moved from the entry way of the room.

"Harry…" Ron started but Harry silenced him with a hand again.

"I know, it makes no sense. I've been trying to figure it out all day, and its not even noon. What I do know is we were in here looking for the diadem. If we can find it maybe we can find out how and why I'm here. So I guess I better start with what this room is."

"And what the hell is a diadem anyway?" Ron said. Still skeptical but still Ron.

"It's a tiara… Ravenclaws lost tiara exactly, because no one has seen it in years. Why where we looking for something no one alive has ever seen?" Hermione said looking at Harry more skeptical than Ron but the academic none the less and still curious.

"Because her daughter told me it was here. Voldemort used it for a …" He was about to say horcux but was Dumbledore correct in not wanting to tell children what they were, they were rather disgusting and unsettling to think about. He knew Hermione would not let it rest until she knew and would research it if he didn't tell her what it was. Harry decided today was not the day to introduce the new vocabulary and instead said, "He used it to help keep himself alive and we have to break it in order to kill him." Both Ron and Hermione looked at him with wide eyes. Yep he sounded crazy.

"Look you don't have to believe me, we can go down and see Hagrid and go to the feast tonight like we're supposed to but I'm going to tell you what happens and at the end of the night, if you still don't believe me, I will continue on this quest alone. I will say it was a lot easier the first time with you guys help though…" Harry trailed off looking around. How had this happened. It might take weeks to find and object that could do this to him especially in this room. He sighed, it might take years.

"So… what is this room and why are we surrounded by rubbish?" Ron asked breaking the tension that had started to build.

"Right, okay. This is the Room of Requirements. We don't discover it until next year when Dobby tells me about it but … well I guess that won't happen now. Anyway, you walk past the entry three times and think of what you need and the room becomes what you need, anything you need so it doesn't usually look like this. Dumbledore said it was once filled with chamber pots when he needed the toilets one night…" Harry trailed off, he wouldn't have known that when he over heard it at the yule ball last time, he's already changed a lot. "Anyway this specific room is the room of hidden things. Centuries worth of objects students 'needed' to hide for one reason or another, I used it to hide a potions book, and Tom used it to hide the diadem. And either I've lost my marbles complete or someone used it to hide a magic time turner you don't have to turn" Harry looked at his fiends, they thought he had lost it, it was evident on their faces of shock.

"Harry... you're not making sense," Hermione said softly. With a comforting tone, one you use with an alzheimer patient. "Why are you talking about a potions book from 6th year when its just the beginning of our fourth year? What is so important about this old headwear? Where did you learn that spell you used in the Great Hall? How did you know Fred and George would grow beards? And who is Tom?" She took a step closer to him as if she wanted to hug him but she never raised her arms.

"She's right Harry... none of this is making sense.." Ron said giving him a look of pitty. "How bad was that dream this morning? I know you've had some bad ones but this is... different, mate"

Harry sighed. This would take a lot of explaining and the worse part was, he didnt have the answers himself. Was he dreaming? Were the last 3 years of his life a dream? Was this real, and if it was, how was it real? He'd have to start somwhere.

"Okay, I know I sound crazy. Let's just…. Let's go see Hagrid and... and I'll tell you what happens tonight and when and how and we'll see if you believe me then okay? We have three years before…." He trailed off again. Should he tell them Voldemort would attack the school? No, probably not. "We have a few years before I need to brake the diadem and we can come back when things settle down to find whatever did this to me." He sighed and made to move towards the door. At least he told them in here where they were alone and no one could over hear the crazy, he thought to himself.

Harry grabbed the door handle and turned to look at them. "We're going to go down to Hagrid's and he'll be in a brown suite and horrible orange tie, because he's trying to impress Madame Maxime. We'll spend the day there and then head to the feast. After dinner, or was it before? I don't remember but they will call the names from the goblet. Viktor Krum from Durmstrang, Fleur Delacour from Beauxbatons, Cedric Diggory from Hogwarts. Everyone will cheer and for a fleeting second we will think we have a normal year at Hogwarts until the fire will glow red while Dumbledore is speaking and another paper will fly out with my name on it. I did not place my name in the goblet of fire. I do not want my name in the tournament I want nothing to do with the damn thing but it will happen and I will have to compete because this school is fucked up and Ron you'll get mad at me no matter what I say and won't believe me until… you know what I'll let Charlie tell you what I have to face in the first challenge." With that Harry left the room and headed to Hagrid's, shoulders slummed and feeling absolutely crazy.

"Harry… If that happens… If… Well I believe you" Hermione said as she catch up with him.

"Yeah Harry… I won't leave" Ron said as soon as he was next to Harry. Harry snorted to himself, Ron not leave? Fat chance. But he sighed and the three of them where on their way to Hagrid's hut.

As the day went on everything happened as Harry remember. Hadgrid's terrible tie and even worse flirting. The feast. The champions. And of course...

"Harry Potter"
