Chapter 12

Hello everyone, here is the next chapter. The winner of the poll was yes Zorah Magdaros will be making a showing in the story. I have a pretty good idea of how to use them. Just to give a heads up after this chapter we will see a small-time skip jumping a few. Maybe 4 or five not sure yet. Moving on the Q & A

BrownDonuts I am happy you like it. I will be doing mixing and matching here and there but seeing as Lelouch spent the majority of life in Japan I thought he give a shout out to it. With that said I will be mixing English, American, French, Roman and basically anything I can think of lol.

Issei ODR we will get to seen Lelouch and CC's first son Achilles in the next chapter. I don't wish to go about the birth of each child they have seeing as it becomes redundant after a while but than again a lot of things will seeing as we got a long way to go in this story.

Akallas von Aerok I am happy you liked it. I was aiming for realism of it a mental scars he may and would develop as a result of his loses.

Glacyeel thank you for the names monsters I well look them up.

chm01 Steinporr doesn't become a literal god he just ends up being worship as one in the after match of his death. It will become clear why in this chapter. Maybe Atilla will be thought of one as well down the line most likely not.

s.k.f.f.f thank you.

Kalipendragon I am sorry my friend. I am happy you enjoy my stories and would love to update faster but I am a slow writer and the less said about my grammar and spelling the better lol.

Guest who suggested a religious leader of some type great idea. I love it going to add.

There is not going to be another poll for awhile after my last one. Not because I am going to stop them but I need to catch up on a few things in the story before I put more. That is of course unless someone comes up will a killer idea that I just have to put in to a poll lol.

Anyways on with the story.

Tradition, it was the one thing that in Lelouch's opinion impeded the progress of a nation more than anything else. Even the smallest and most insignificant of traditions could in reality damage a nation's ability to develop and change over time which there forward impeded its ability to survive. For example, the Britannian numbering system and overall discrimination of those who were not born within its borders was a perfect case of a tradition that was killing its nation. If Charles and Marianne hadn't attempted to kill God, Schneizel hadn't built the Damocles and he had done nothing at all Britannian would have still fallen. The only difference was that it would have died internally instead of outwardly.

The reason for this was the simple difference between wealth of the noble class and that of the common class in Britannian. With most of the wealth in the hands of the nobles and their control of both the majority of the businesses that hired and political positions of the empire there was precious little room for those of the common class to rise beyond what they were born into. And while they had more rights than those, they called numbers who were little better than slave labor the Britannian commoners often found themselves below the poverty line. With the numbers having no rights or protection under the law the nobles simply preferred to hire them over their own countryman who they would have had to treat like human beings. Because the nobles didn't wish to do this the unemployment rate among the commoners was a staggering 20 percent. As for those who found themselves lucky enough to have a job, they were often paid a minimum wage that hadn't seen a hike in 20 years for even the skilled labor jobs.

All this combined resulted in 30 percent of all commoners living below the poverty line but that was not the disturbing part. The real disturbing part was that their tradition of discrimination against the numbers was so ingrained in their minds that many commoners didn't want to do anything to change it. To them it was better to be a poor Britannian than have equal rights with the numbers. Well that was the consensus till his rebellion came and changed everything. With the very real fear of sabotage by their slave laborers the Britannian noble men had to replace the vast majority of their workforce with their own countrymen. Not wishing to lose profits and a high demand in goods still being called for the nobles of the House of Lords were able to convince Emperor Charles suspended most of the rights of the commonfolk.

Lelouch still got a good chuckle at how surprised the commoners were at this action. Discontent was already there and small-scale protests against the numbers getting their jobs were already taking place. But again, their own traditions of discrimination and belief in superiority never allowed them to believe they could become targets themselves. It was in reality an inevitable outcome that they to would have their rights strip from them as their poverty just kept increasing and their protests got louder. All Lelouch did was move up the timeline of their own rebellion. And once Britannian's own people rebelled against it, it was little more than a breathing corpse waiting to but pulled off life-support. Dead because of its own traditions.

With all that said however there was one tradition that he and CC recognized as an eternally necessary one for all people, and that was the tradition of holding funerals for the dead. If you looked at it from a rational point of view, they were completely useless things. Whether you held a funeral for someone or not it wouldn't change the fact that they were dead and, in his opinion, they were a waste of resources. For example, if you were to burn someone's dead body you would need wood to build a pyre, burn it and maybe make an urn to put the ashes in. As for burying someone you would need wood to make a casket, stone for making a headstone and land set aside to bury the dead in. All of it a waste of resources that could go to other things.

But people were not rational creatures. A fact he knew all too well himself. After all, even after the five plus centuries of life that seem him changed into an almost completely rational and cold individual, he still from time to time let his emotions get the best of him. You only had to look at the deal he gave King Stark to realize that. His love for his daughter was so great that he was giving highly sought-after glass away in exchange for her being allowed to go on what amounted to play dates in the North. Then there was also the private funeral and over 50 years of mourning he and CC went through over their son Gawain. It was completely irrational to mourn their son for so long or hold that funeral, but it was needed so they could have closure and move on.

It was for this closure that CC and he had agreed to not turn the funerals of Haggo, Steinporr and Narbo into some kind of spectacle. While doing so would have been beneficial to the overall mood of the kingdom itself it would most likely upset the two the most powerful clans in the kingdom right now. The Khan Clan and the Gates Clan were the only two daimyo clans that existed right now and while they didn't have nearly as much power as they did it was best to placate them right now. The support among the Rohirrim for the Khan Clan was always strong do to Haggo's influence, but it was not very strong outside of Rohan. Now with what was being called Haggo's Last Charge the overall support from the rest of the kingdom for them had done a 180 overnight. As for the Gates Clan their power had actually waned over the last few years with Narbo's soft approach on Oro but with his suicide he was now being made out to be a tragic figure. People loved tragic figures and their sympathy reestablished their position in the kingdom.

So, to keep them happy Lelouch and CC said nothing on how the two clans went about the funerals for them. Not that they needed to say anything anyways. While Narbo's oldest son Dralt Gates had taken his father's position as the new King of Flames his 2nd oldest son Legand Gates had become the new Daimyo of Uruk and the land surrounding the capital all the way up to the forest of Aokigahraa and down towards the Steel Road. Now the boy was more of a merchant than leader but even he understood the need to stabilize the kingdom after the rebellion and with people wishing to pay their respects to Narbo he held an open viewing of the body. While the burning of the funeral pyre remained private the open viewing helped to calm many of the citizens of the kingdom. Though Lelouch was sure Legand would have preferred if the 50,000 people who showed up for the viewing never came. It was a full week later before his family could burn Narbo's body.

As for the Rohirrim well they still held on strongly to the funeral traditions of when they were still Dothraki. So, a small private ceremony was out of the question for them. They would send Haggo and Steinporr off to the next world with a grand funeral befitting two of the greatest warriors of their time or not at all. It was something Attila readily agreed to seeing as he too believed they had earned such a grand funeral. And of course, CC and he were invited to the funeral as guests of honor and obligated to attend.

Though while obligated to show up CC and he didn't really mind coming. As the years had passed Lelouch had actually come to like Haggo. While he didn't think of the man as a friend Haggo had earned Lelouch's respect. There were many kauls at the time that Lelouch could have bent to his will, but none of them would have been so willing to change. True Haggo was hesitant and unsure at first, but he never once showed fear as he walked down the path Lelouch and CC were laying out. As for Steinporr well Lelouch never really liked the man but his wife and child did. Steinporr was as far as Lelouch was concerned a witless fool but had amused his wife and Hela thought of him as one of her best friends. So, he needed to pay his respects to the man least he finds himself on the bad side of both his wife and his child.

Overall, the only thing Lelouch could say he didn't like about having to attend this funeral was having to watch as Haggo's old bloodriders took their own lives. It was a long-held belief that a kaul's bloodriders should join him in death, so it wasn't a surprised when the few that were still alive committed seppuku. It was just an utter waste of life in Lelouch's eyes. Of all Haggo's bloodriders only three had survived the last battle but all three of them were important men to the stability of Rohan. Fitto, Haggo's captain of the guard held tremendous respect and sway among his people. Loqqo was the best bow maker in all of Rohan and controlled all the other bow makers. And Astollo was the only minister of law in Rohan who held enough respect and fear outside of Haggo himself who could enforce the law.

With all three dead now, there was a power vacuum that need to be filled and quickly. The question was who would take their place. As Lelouch wondered this he watched as Attila lite the pyre than went over to where his child was standing and took her hand into his. An act that greatly annoyed Lelouch.

"Lelouch stop looking and thinking of ways to kill Attila." CC says to him telepathically.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Lelouch says back to his wife in the same way.

"Oh, please Lelouch your mind right now is like an open book. I can clearly read how much you don't like Attila holding Hela's hand." CC says in amusement.

"I don't like how comfortable he seems in doing so is all." Lelouch says to her.

Rolling her eye CC says, "Says the typical overprotective father that hates the thought of his little girl growing up."

Lelouch says nothing but CC does hear a slight growl coming from her husband and shakes her head. "Lelouch, Hela is to young right now to realize what love is. As far as she is concerned Attila taking her hand in his is just him looking for comfort from a friend."

"I still don't like it." Lelouch says darkly.

"Well you're just going to have to get over it. Hela will not stay a child forever and will someday fall in love. Whether that is with a man or woman, Attila or not doesn't matter. It is going to happen and that is all there is to it." CC scolds him.

Lelouch says nothing back to his wife choosing instead to soak in silent.

Seeing that her husband was going to continue to pout unless she changed the subject CC says, "We are going to have to name a new Shogun the moment we get back home Lelouch. With Narbo gone so unexpectedly there is going to be political turmoil soon enough if we don't."

"Unexpectedly is an understatement my dear witch. We really should have read his mind more often and keep a closer watch on his actions." Lelouch says to her.

Giving a sigh CC says, "It probably wouldn't have mattered if we did Lelouch. We can't control the random actions of an individual. Even you with your ability to read and predict most outcomes, can't account for random acts of behavioral."

What his wife said was indeed mostly true. The fact was Lelouch did take into account a very small possibility that he would indeed kill himself, but it was just one of a number of other possibilities he took into consideration. Hell, he had thought of the possibility of Narbo being hit by a rogue meteorite at some point during the rebellion but dismissed it out of the sheer ridiculousness of it possibly happening. Just like he had done with the thought of the man killing himself. What Lelouch had expected was Narbo simply resigning from his position as Shogun.

"Still it's a good thing I already have someone in mind for a quick replacement." Lelouch says to her.

CC was not surprised to hear Lelouch say he already has someone in mind to replace Narbo. Unless she missed her guess, it was actually probably more like several someone's. While they both liked him you never really new when a person was going to die. Their daughter could tell when someone's natural life span was ending but someone dying of old age or sickness was completely different from someone dying of unnatural causes.

"What about Steinporr? Have you thought of a replacement for him yet?" CC asks.

"You are the one my dear who deals with the Royal Guard the most my love. So, I will leave that for you to decide." Lelouch says to her.

"Hmmm I figured you say that. Perhaps I can convince Jin to do it for a time." CC says to him.

"Jin? I thought he was about to retire?" Lelouch questions as he thinks on the man. Jin was kind of a flake who liked to push off responsibility onto other people, but loyal to a fault.

"He was, but I am sure I can convince him to stay till a suitable replacement is found." CC answers.

"Hmmm should we try an increase his power so it matches what Steinporr could do?" Lelouch asks his wife.

CC thinks on this for a bit before she answers. "No, I think that would be a bad idea. When I sent Jin to go collect Steinporr's body he returned with reports about unusual weather patterns happening around the area. It would seem the area is now prone to random lightning storms and rain."

Lelouch is silent for a bit than says, "That is unexpected."

That was putting it mildly Lelouch thought to himself. This world was already experiencing unusually long seasons for which there was no scientific explanation for. And now it would seem Steinporr had unknowingly changed the weather conditions for the area he had died in. It was disturbing that he was able to do that and because they had given him his power it wouldn't be a stretch to say they were the ones mostly responsible for it. Whatever magic this world ran on was already making CC and him stronger, but the thought that they could change the environment in such a way was something he personally didn't wish to do. After all you could only take playing god to a certain extent before god stroke you down. Perhaps it was time to stop giving out geasses that could manifest themselves physically and go back to just effecting the mind.

Putting those thoughts aside for now Lelouch moves on to a different subject, "Sazhi's death was the biggest loss of all. While we always had plans to have Steinporr and Haggo die gloriously in battle she was supposed to live on. Her support of her son was supposed to keep Attila grounded. Now that she is dead, he is angry and looking for vengeance on the world."

The mention of her ex-handmaidens' name made CC frown. Other than her child and husband Sazhi was the closest person to her. She found the woman easy to talk with and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her. So, her death hit CC hard but not nearly as hard as it did for Attila. The boy loved his mother with all his heart and her death was not easy to bare for one as young as Attila especially seeing as he couldn't give her the same funeral rites as his father and grandfather. Her suicide by hanging instead of seppuku was seen as dishonorable and cowardly. His people would never have allowed him to burn her with his father and grandfather even if he had tried to do so. He knew that and that was why he burned her body shortly after her death.

This lack of a proper funeral was what led to the anger Attila had been displaying lately. He had gotten no closure on her death and was really only ever calm when Hela was around. When she wasn't however, he was as unstable as it got and was why they needed to guide his anger in a direction that befitted them now rather than wait to see where it landed on its own. After all she would hate to have to kill the boy later on if his anger turned towards them.

"You well have to take the boy back under your wing my love. He needs to be guided towards a path that will not point his anger at us. Even if he proved himself to be a threat to us Hela will not forgive us if we had him killed." CC says to Lelouch.

"I will do all I can to steer him in the correct direction my dear, but I will have to be careful about how I go about it. Just like what would happen if we had him killed Hela will not easily forgive us if she realizes we are manipulating him." Lelouch says withfrown.

Really his child was to smart for her own good. Like her elder brother before her Hela had shown signs of inheriting his intellect and while personally not putting much stock in a persons IQ level Lelouch did give her the basic IQ test. By using games and puzzles he was able to measure her IQ at around 180 if not just a bit higher. Now whether or not she would end up using her intelligence for anything useful remained to be seen, but with her being at the age were curiosity was at its strongest it would be best not to tempt fate.

-One month later Minas Tirith-

The whole of the city of Minas Tirith was in an uproar today, but not in rebellion or civil unrest. No today after a month of mourning for those who died at the hands of the traitorous scum during the rebellion they were now celebrating. Celebrating the victories, the lives and deeds of those same men and women who died in the rebellion. Wherever you looked dancing, games, drinking and overall marry making was taking place and would not stop anytime soon.

Indeed, everyone was happy today, that is everyone but Zazhal zo Kallhuhl who was feeling more nervous than anything. The bargain he had made with the King and Queen of Numenor was for the most part upheld but there was one part of the deal he failed to accomplish. According to the deal he was to not only capture or kill Oro the King of Dirt but also return all citizens of Numenor that he had enslaved in exchange for their full support in him becoming King of Slavers Bay. But due to the complete destruction of Meereen by the dragon Jörmungandr that was not possible. Really, he should not be held to that part of the bargain seeing as there was nothing, he could have done about it, but he wasn't about to say that to them.

All he could do was hope they wouldn't hold him to it but with them sitting in front of him and not saying a word for the last 10 minutes he was not sure what they would do. It was as they sat in silence that he got his first real look at them. Before today he had only ever had contact with them via Lady Yahan and he had to say they were majestic to look at. Words like beautiful, handsome, pretty, lovely all fell short in describing them as did majestic. But of all the words he could think of it was the only one that got close in describing them. With that said they were also very intimidating. His father had always taught him that you can tell a person's character by their eyes. They never lied and that was why he knew that right now they were cold and indifferent towards him. Not a good starting point.

After a few more moments of deathly silent it was the king who Yahan told him to call King L who spoke first, "I apologize for our silence till now King Zazhal. My wife and I were discussing the condition of our agreement and whether or not they had been met. I am sure you will be pleased to know that we have found that despite the death of our citizens you have indeed fulfilled your end of the agreement."

Discussing? But they haven't said a word to each other as far as he could tell, and they were just now talking about whether or not he kept up his end of the bargain. Was he so unimportant that he was little more than an afterthought to them? No, that was unimportant right now Zazhal told himself as he stomped down hard on the anger he felt rising up at the insult. What was important is that King L just called him King Zazhal. It was an official acknowledgment of his position as King of Slaver's Bay. An acknowledgment he would need down the road.

"I am happy to hear that King L and let me express my deepest regrets that I could not return all of them like I had promised." Zazhal says with a straight a face as he can.

CC and Lelouch nod their heads in acknowledgement at his words but don't believe him. They knew that the man didn't mean a single word he said but it didn't matter. Zazhal and his family were useful to them right now and that was all. Because despite CC wanting to just kill him and put a torch to Slaver's Bay the simple fact was, they didn't have the manpower to rule over so much land just yet. Soon they would but soon for them was another 50 years or so and much could happen between now and then.

So, to make sure Slaver's Bay didn't turn into an unmanageable and lawless land they needed someone o acknowledgment and the Kallhuhl family were the perfect pick. While personally the family sickened Lelouch and CC they were impressive in their own way. From what CC was able to find out from C's World combined with Yahan own research the Kallhuhl family could trace their roots back all the way to the Old Empire of Ghis about 500 years before its fall at the hands of the Valyrian Freehold. They had never risen pass the position of minor nobility, but they had outlived all the older families of Astapor who were wiped out in either failed rebellions or just fall out of favor with the ruling Dragon Lord of Astapor at the time. Yet when the Doom came, they wasted no time and killing the local Dragon Lord and taking power for themselves.

They were at heart opportunists, cowards, and a dishonest family but at the same time trustworthy in their own way. Lelouch and CC remembered quite fondly their son watching a movie in his younger years that had a character put it best about dishonest people. You could always trust a dishonest person to be dishonest, it's the honest ones you shouldn't trust for you never know when they will be dishonest. The same saying could go for cowards as well. Cowards rarely ever find their courage and because they were cowards the Kallhuhl family would make the perfect client rulers till they were ready to put an end to Slaver's Bay.

"Let us talk about the tribute that you will be paying the Kingdom of Numenor for the for seeable future shell we." CC says in the form of a question but was really a demand. She wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible for she really couldn't stand the site of this worm.

"Of course, Queen C." Zazhal says knowing this was coming. Part of his agreement with these people was to pay tribute to them for the next 50 years for the right to rule without their interference. How much he would have to pay was till this point unknown to him but before the destruction of Meereen he was sure he could pay it. Now with Meereen little more than ash he wasn't so sure.

"Now we know our son Jörmungandr has destroyed Meereen and our other son Smaug has burned a good part of Yunkai down so, we really can't expect you to pay anything in the form of gold or silver for some time. That is why we have decided that till at least one of these two cities is back up on its feet we will take payment in the form of learned slaves." CC says to Zazhal.

Hearing this Zazhal had to thank the gods for his luck. With both Meereen and Yunkai in their current state the city of Astapor would be tight on money for a time. The amount he and the Good Masters who supported him would have to pay just to get Yunkai back up and running would be a lot. Then there was the gold he would have to pay the sellswords and remnants of the Dothraki to both protect and stay away till he could get more Unsullied trained. The coming years would be hard to say the least but not unmanageable. The Dothraki were hardly what they were and all his would-be enemies were hiding in their cities in fear right now.

"That is very generous of you both Queen C." Zazhal says to them.

"Not so generous King Zazhal. As my wife has said we will be asking for learned slaves. Scribes, craftsmen, and tutors are what we are looking for. We have no need for your bed slaves, fieldhands or Unsullied. The number also stands at 200 of these slaves a year for the next 50 years." Lelouch says to him.

"We also expect any family these slaves have to be sent with them. That goes for children and parents and grandparents if they are still alive." CC adds in.

Now that made Zazhal's sweat a bit. Two-hundred slaves was not unreasonable by any means, but two-hundred learned slaves were a whole other matter. In all of Astapor he didn't think the number of learned slaves went passed 1000 and of those 1000 slaves gods knew how many were related to each other. Fuck by the time he was done finding out and tracking down any of their kin he could be looking a double the number of slaves he would have to send as tribute. That would hurt not only financially, but also the governing of the city seeing as much of the cities internal matters were handled by slaves. There was nothing he could do about that however and would just have to get the Good Masters and their families to step up till more learned slaves could be trained.

"Of course, Queen C, but may I inquire what is to happen if I can't track down the slave's kin?" Zazhal asks.

"We do not expect you to go searching for their kin around the known world King Zazhal. Just a lengthy and detailed search of the area you now rule will do. After all, once those slaves you send to us are within our borders, they will be free men and women. At that point we will take overlooking for their families and we will find them sooner or later." CC says with a smile.

In other words, don't try and cheat them because they will do their own search at a later time he thought to himself. He had heard whispers in the city as he explored it that slavery was going to be outlawed soon. An odd thing to do in his mind but he wasn't going to say anything. Just like he wasn't going to try and cheat them. He was much to smart to do something so foolish.

"You have my word Queen C that I will do all in my power to find the slave's next to kin before I send them." Zazhal says as he bows his head.

"That is wonderful to hear King Zazhal. Now let's talk of more pleasant topics. Will you be joining us for the main celebration tomorrow? If so, we will gladly hold you a seat of honor among us?" Lelouch asks.

With a fake smile on his lips Zazhal says, "It would be my honor to sit with you two King L."

-The next day-

Time ticked by slowly for Oro the ex-King of Dirt as he sat in his prison cell inside the dungeon underneath Shogunate Castle. As he sat, in his cell he couldn't help but laugh at the irony of the fact that he had built this dungeon. Hell, he had built the castle that was above him. Along with most of the city that surrounded it. So much work and for what? To end up here because those demons the people of this cursed city called their rulers had betrayed him. They should have sided with him. They should have seen that those demons were trampling on the memory of those who had died because of those ex-Dothraki by letting them gain so much power. But they didn't and it was to late to do anything about it.

Not that he wanted to fight anymore anyways. When he had awoken from the cowardly attack by that piece of shit Zazhal he had found that his powers were gone. No doubt taken away from him by those same demons that gave them to him in the first place. Without those powers escape would be impossible and what good would it do to escape anyways? He was already informed by Yahan who was there when he first woke up that his allies had been defeated and worst that his wife, sons, and only daughter along with his grandchildren were dead. All of them put to death along with every living soul in New Gornath for their rebellion. It was a striking blow that even the knowledge that Haggo had died during the rebellion hadn't lessen.

The only thing that gave him any comfort was the knowledge that he was going to die soon. Because he had rebelled, he was no longer a citizen of this kingdom anymore and therefore no right to a trial. He also wouldn't be given the chance to commit seppuku to save his honor and the honor of his family. Not that he would take it or that any of his real family was still alive. No, he would rather be executed than take his own life for standing up for the truth.

Hearing the door to his cell open Oro looks towards it to see a guard standing there.

"Get up traitor. Its time." The guard says.

Traitor he says. What a joke Oro thinks to himself as he stands up and walks out the door. This man and all like him were the real traitors. Traitors to the memory of greater men and women who had died for them. Before his lost Oro would have told this boy that but now there was no point. So, he just quietly walked from his cell up the stairs and out of the dungeon to the cell-wagon that was waiting for him.

Once inside the cell-wagon it doesn't take long for him to arrive at the Plaza of the Fallen. Construction of the plaza had started around 5 years ago and wouldn't been done for another few years. It was going to be of simple design with stone walkways and flower gardens making up the majority of the 117,100-foot plaza. But the real purpose of this plaza was to build giant obelisks in honor the of dead soldiers who died for this kingdom. Because this kingdom didn't believe in burying their dead an obelisk would be erected for the dead soldiers and at its base the names of those who died would be carved into it. Each time a base ran out of room for the names a new obelisk would go up.

It was an idea that he had fully supported till the names of his friends were planed with the name of those Dothraki cunts. He could still remember swearing to tear down this place and rebuild it with just his friend's names as soon as he tossed down those demons from power. Now however he would be killed here and killed by the grandson of the man he hated most it would seem. He thought as he was pulled from the wagon and led up a flight of stairs to the top of a platform.

One he was at the top he looks out upon a silent crowd who just looked at him with anger and hate. The same look he would imagine he had on his face whenever he thought of Haggo, the Dothraki or those demons. And speaking of those demons there they were sitting on a raised podium looking down at him as they had always done.

Being dragged to his knees Oro hears the Minister of Law Horero Bahin start to read his crimes. "Oro you have been found guilty of the illegal selling of citizens of the Kingdom of Numenor into slavery, attempted assassination of Haggo Khan and Steinporr of the King of Skyfire, as well as the attempted kidnapping of First Princess Hela of Numenor, and open rebellion against the Kingdom of Numenor. For these numerous crimes you have been strip of all your titles, wealth and rights as a citizen of the Kingdom of Numenor and sentence to be beheaded. Does the condemned have any last words before his sentence is carried out."

Oro from where he is kneeling looks up at the people around him than the demon rulers and says, "You all call me a traitor, but it was not I who spat on the memories of all those the Dothraki had murdered, rape, and enslaved. That was you. All of you have shitted on their memory and if I must die for trying to avenge them than so be it. I die with a clear conscience."

With that said Oro lowers his head without any help and readies himself to die. The last thing he hears before darkness takes him is the drawing of a sword, the swing of the blade and a quick moment of pain that last but a moment.

When his severed head hits the floor of the platform the masses go wild in cheers. To them the traitor that had caused the suffering of their people was dead and his words forgotten to them.

All seemed satisfied by his death. All but one person that was. Attila as he stood above the dead body of Oro didn't look the least bit satisfied by his death. When his Tenno-sama had offered him the chance to execute Oro himself he had thought it would bring some measure of satisfaction but instead he felt nothing. The traitor had died well instead of like the coward who wouldn't duel his grandfather. To show no fear in the face of death was to be respected and because of that Attila could only feel his anger rise.

Turning away from the body Attila walks down from the platform promising himself that he would find satisfaction for his grandfather's and mother's death. No matter what the cost are how many had to die he would find satisfaction.

-Later that night-

Sitting on top the 4th level of the city that was being built into the mountain Attila drink peppered beer from a horn cup. He never really like peppered beer himself, but his grandfather loved it and he felt a bit closer to him when he drank it. And as he did, he looked down and wondered what the walled city would look like once it was completed. Last, he heard it would be another 15 years before it was completed if not more. He wondered if he would still be alive by then. He was joining the army in a few more years and he had no idea what would happen on the battlefield when he finally entered it.

"Good evening Attila." He hears a voice call out from behind him.

Looking over at where the voice was coming from Attila spots his Tenno-sama and stands up quickly on drunken legs bowing his head. "Tenno-sama good evening."

Waving his hand Lelouch says, "As you were Attila. Go back to your drinking. If anyone needs it tonight it would be you."

Bowing his head again last time Attila says, "Thank you Tenno-sama."

Sitting back down Attila starts to drink again as Lelouch goes and sits down next to him in silence.

After a while Attila says, "It is a beautiful night Tenno-sama."

"That it is. The moon is full, and the stars are clear to see in the sky above." Lelouch says truly enjoying the site before his eyes. It was something he didn't really get to enjoy in his old world till the invention of anti-smog technology and solar power replaced the old fossil fuel technology of his old world about 200 years before he left.

"My grandfather loved to stay up late and watched the moon and stars. He said it reminded him of his wife." Attila says to him with a small smile.

Lelouch says nothing knowing Attila is mostly just reminiscing to himself right now.

"Tenno-sama?" Attila calls out.

"Yes Attila?" Lelouch asks.

"Why have you and Kogo-sama not declared war on those who attacked us yet?" Attila asks with some anger in his voice.

"Why do you think Attila?" Lelouch asks the boy.

"I don't know. That is why I am asking." Attila says with a bit more anger in his voice.

"You don't know, or you don't want to accept that which you already know?" Lelouch asks calmly. Some would say that Lelouch shouldn't let Attila speak to him as he was, but those people were idiots. Only lesser monarchs got upset over such insignificant slights, but then compared to his wife and him every other king, queen or whatever was indeed less. After all they held true power not the pretend power that comes from written laws or made-up stories on why so and so blood was so much more important than someone else's.

Attila just looks down sadly for he did know the answer. His Tenno-sama and grandfather had both taught him about war and though they both taught him different things one thing was at the foremost of those lessons. "Because we don't have the logistical ability or the manpower to do so."

"That is right Attila. While we are indeed a powerful kingdom, we are still fairly new with limited manpower. While our borders may technically stretch all the way to the ruined city of Gornath in the west and the ruined city of Vaes Efe in the south we don't have the infrastructure, manpower or resources to rule that amount of territory effectively. And we won't have it for at least another 10 years. It is why my wife and I have never openly claimed the lands pass Vaes Dothrak and the Steel Road and have openly discouraged our people from settling there." Lelouch tells him.

"Well, we can still send Jörmungandr and Smaug to destroy the cities of those who had attacked us." Attila says to him.

"To what end Attila? True there is no beast alive that I know of that could hope to stand up to Jörmungandr what with his sheer size being greater than any dragon both alive or dead and Smaug being a sizeable force himself. But even if my wife and I could convince them to do so it would leave a power vacuum and a lot of land to be filled by anyone who comes around. Basically, an open invitation to every would-be warlord and petty king you can imagine." Lelouch tells the boy.

Which by itself wasn't really a problem other than the fact that they would be little more than bandits camouflaged in pretty self-given titles. No, the real problem would be getting Jörmungandr and Smaug to actually do it. Jörmungandr only agreed to attacked Meereen because he was infuriated that someone would dare to threaten his family. As for Smaug well Jörmungandr had to actually threaten his little brother with a beating to get him to move. A beating Smaug got anyways for the half ass job he did on burning Yunkai.

Looking dejected Attila says, "So there is really nothing we can do right now?"

"Not right now we can't but we will Attila. While my wife and I can forgive many things the threat on our child's life will not easily be forgotten. It will take years to get the logistics down for an attack on our enemies without spreading ourselves too thin. But perhaps by than you will be ready to lead our armies against our enemies and teach them that while we may be slow to take our revenge, we will take it sooner or later." Lelouch says with a smile on his face.

"I would like that very much Tenno-sama." Attila says with his own smile now on his face.

"Good then let's go Attila. I have only two more years to teach you as much as I can before you join the army. Not to mention I have to find a trustworthy regent to rule over Rohan till your brother is old enough to do so." Lelouch says than starts to head towards the walkway that would lead them down to the city than on to his home where he and his brother would be staying for the coming years.

"Yes Tenno-sama." Attila all but yells out than follows him down.

-POV Steffon Baratheon-

Listen well by boys the Plaza of the Fallen and the great obelisks that fill it is not just a monument to the soldiers of Numenor who have died for the Empire. It is a monument to anyone who has died fighting for the Empire of Numenor. Be them allies or people who were seeking citizenship by joining the army. If you died in battle for it than your name will be carved into basis of those obelisks. That is why if you look for them you will find the names of people from almost every great and minor house in Westeros. There are even some names of our own kin carved into them. Like my great uncle Stanler Baratheon brother of Lyonel Baratheon the Laughing Storm my grandfather has his name on one of those bases.

While here in Westeros his name is not really remember that well, over there he is still remembered as a great hero. For his deeds during the 5th war with the Golden Empire of Yi Ti he became one of only 21 foreign born citizens to be awarded the Medal of Honor for saving the lives of 26 men of his unit. In the same war he was also awarded the Legion of Valor for leading a charge against impossible odds that help swing the tide at the Battle of Howling Hills, where he also got the Blood Cross for suffering grave wounds in the same battle but continuing to fight on anyways.

Yet his accomplishments didn't end there. He also became one of only 52 foreign born citizens to be risen to the ranks of nobility having been given the rank of Earl. Sadly, due to the laws of Numenor his title of Earl did not pass on to his only son who was to be frank a halfwit. Still if you ever go to Numenor by boys ask anyone if they know the name Earl Stanler Baratheon and they will tell you they know it well.
