"Wow, you passed the knowledge test with an eighty-seven, most applicants even with study never get passed a fifty!" Kabuto beamed, pleased and proud.
Mika nodded. "I studied hard, a lack of physical ability does not mean I cannot be a fantastic study."
"Fair point. So let's get to your chakra control test, it's pretty simple." He pulled out a class of murky water and put his hands on either side of it. Slowly the water churned until the brown liquid separated from the regular water. It looked rather easy. "It takes more control than you realize, but it is a great way to evaluate your control levels and potential." He released the fluid which remixed together, making a brown sludge once more.
Curious, he reached for the mixture and pushed his chakra into it. He got a feel for the water, the mixture, and sort of pushed it, with one hand pulling like he would with the Leaf Sticking exercise. He moved and maneuvered the water and slowly, after about two minutes, the water separated into Water and Sludge. Mika was sweating and tired, the technique was not chakra intensive but so focus intensively that it was tiring.
"How as that?"
Kabuto clapped. "That was really good, I would say your control is in the ninetieth percentile. Most ninja never get into the seventieth, not even Jonin. Your control is really good, but you need to improve for mastery of medical jutsu. This is good, you have the control needed to enter the program. I will give you techniques and tricks to bolster your control and reserves. Some medical jutsu requires impressive chakra reserves, all of us need higher reserves to handle the influx of patients in times of stress.
Now, onto your taijutsu, come with me." They walked out the back door to a decent sized training ground that was oddly empty. "We have so few medics, that few have enough time to use this. I would highly recommend you do though, it might save your life in the field. Same with your patients... now, I am going to come at you, just evade."
And so that is what he did, dodging the strikes and swipes Kabuto had to offer, some only missing by mere centimeters, but they all missed. He, however, got tired very fast to his irritation, his stamina was shot for whatever reason. He needed to work on that, majorly, less it cost him his life.
After twenty or so minutes, Kabuto stopped his attack. "You're really good, your taijutsu is excellent. Seriously there are some chunin with less taijutsu skill... just your stamina is so low, you look ready to pass out already."
"I am trying, have always been trying, but my body just doesn't seem to like it. I know chakra levels and stamina are tied, maybe increasing my reserves will help?"
"It should, a lot actually. Most of your stamina is tied to chakra, so if you increase it you should have more stamina. I have some techniques that will really help, you just have to work on them with dedication."
"Sounds perfect, so do I pass?"
"Yes, you do. Thankfully, you do not need as much studying since you are so far ahead, you can focus more physically for a bit. Now, let's get indoors and get your application set up and get you your equipment." They hurried back into the hospital where Mika quickly signed the needed paperwork assigning him to become a medic in training, agreeing to working for the hospital for at least three years as he trained. In return he would get fantastic training, resources and free medical treatment as well great pay. It was a great path for him overall. As he did this, Kabuto gathered the needed supplies and placed them in a bag for him. "These scrolls are on taijutsu, conditioning and chakra control as well as procedure, and the basics of first aid. I expect you to read scrolls one to three by the time you start on Monday. You will be working Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. From eight in the morning to four in the afternoon, training for four hour, having an hour off, then working as a CNA for three hours taking care of patients and so on. If you ever need more money, you can pick up extra shifts. The rest of your time is for studying and training and conditioning your body to the best it can be."
Mika nodded. "That makes sense. So I have the weekend off at least... that is nice. I get my Ninja photo here or at the Hokage Tower like everyone else?"
"Hokage tower, we all do it. When you move up from level one to two or so on, you get a change on your badge. Now, If I were you, I would get your rest in, you are going to have a rough couple of days. Read everything you can, and practice the first two chakra exercises, the tree climbing and water walking if you want, but be careful. It would be a great way to build you reserves but do not drain them completely."
"Will do."
"Now go, have fun and behave."
Nodding, Mika hurried out of the hospital and to his apartment, not far off. He quickly stored his scrolls bar the one on chakra control and moved to his personal training grounds. One in the forest, where a nice clearing was. It had a nice little pond, perfect for training. As soon as he got there, he opened his kenjutsu scrolls and started to read them while putting on the small two pound weights he bought on his ankles and wrists.
After reading, he twisted his tanto and started to go through the motions. They were simple, smooth and not super impressive as it was just a general style without much of a unique factor, again he was a clanless ninja so it was all only basic styles freely given. Still it was fundamental and you could always grow from there to become something amazing. He moved through these styles for over an hour, breathing out and ignoring the strain of the weights and the burn of his lungs. Only when he finished did he sit down and get to reading the next scrolls on chakra control.
"The tree climbing exercise, seems simple enough." Placing his tanto away for the time being, he sprinted up the nearest tree... and maybe it most of the way before he had to flip off. "Hmmm, not too hard. I can see how this would be a training exercise..."
By the hours end, he would master that technique. Twenty minutes later he would master water walking. He decided right then to practice his tai and kenjutsu over the water, for only an hour at most each, as to not kill himself from chakra exhaustion. Then he could do as he always did and study, using his brains to gain as much power as he was able.
He could only hope his stamina and chakra levels went up, so he could take full advantage of the power he knew he was capable of...
At least he had a path ahead of him and an ensured manner of gaining skill and influence in a world so deeply against people like him. Always a positive...
Right?
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a blast, I missed this.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
