The day after Tsunade returns, three and half weeks after the Invasion
"Steady... this is the hard part." Mika muttered, holding his water chakra as much as he could. In front of him was a large pillar of water the same height as himself, about as thick as he was. "I think I got it...and..." Mika released it and summoned it right back, three times perfectly. "Well, I think that is mastered... ugh, now for stage three." Hinata laughed at him and Ghost sneezed in his direction from where he was resting by a tree. His beloved pet was a very loyal boy and never ran off, something Mika appreciated quite dearly. "See if I help you again." Mika flicked water at her, making her squeal from how cold it was.
"As fun as this is..." Hiashi started right after Hinata splashed Mika's face with a huge wave of water. "Mika, Hinata, you are both wanted Lady Tsunade. One of the ANBU just left a message."
Mika sighed, giving Hinata a glare. "To be continued." Drawing the water from his clothes, he cast it aside and whistled for Ghost who quickly climbed onto Mika's shoulders. "Ready."
They made quick time, not wanting to risk the woman's legendary temper. Ghost, who Mika had already exposed to the shushin ( Having to heal claw wound over fifteen times... ) was rather calm about their fast pace. Soon they were at the Hokage tower, right at the woman's door. Opening it, Mika was struck by Tsunade's beauty and the sheer power she exuded. Unlike the previous Hokage, she did not hide her power, she radiated it, a display of such sheer dominance that reminded Mika of his weakness before her.
Shikamaru was there too, looking rather annoyed. With him were Kurenai and Asuma, senseis to two of the Genin in the room. On Tsunade's desk was two Chunin vests... Mika's heart hammered in his chest.
"Nooo… what a drag." Shikamaru groaned out and Mika turned to him with hate. He had learned from Hinata that the boy had pretended to be asleep during the invasion, having to be forced into action by Kakashi's Ninja Hound.
"Enough with that attitude!" Hinata barked out, snapping with enough hate that Shikamaru recoiled. She turned to Tsunade. "Please tell me you got my injunction on Shikamaru? That he pretended to be asleep instead of doing his duty during the invasion? That you are not making him a Chunin?"
Asuma recoiled then sighed. "Shikamaru, did you really..."
The other boy turned away, frowning. "It was all such a drag ..."
Tsunade turned to him. "Yes, I did get it. I was going to make him a chunin before I saw it." Her eyes boiled with rage. "You endangered a great many people. If this was war time, you would be whipped and quartered! I am half tempted to do that myself. Your actions were disgraceful! However, your father begged me not to... and so I have decided that your punishment is do something you'd considered a drag... I will be requiring you to put in a thousand hours of community service and you are on probation until your service is over! Maybe that will teach you duty."
She sighed while Shikamaru looked on in utter horror. Mika and Hinata smugly smirked at the foo.
"Now, to be honest, I would rather you both wait longer, but we do not have the time for that. We need more chunin leaders and you two are the only ones among your years to show the signs needed for your growth to be acknowledged at Chunin level.
"In the simplest terms: Hinata, you went from some the academy had serious concerns for, someone that struggled with basic missions to a powerful kunoichi that overcame two geniuses and expanded her clan jutsu! You used the Silent Killing and Hidden Mist Jutsu, but you also saved several ninja with combat skill and medical skill. That puts you well above most Chunin. I also hear that you have become a fiercely talented Vet, with the power to already use the Mystic Palm! However it was your sense of duty, and your ability to serve the village before and after the invasion that really draws me.
Mika, you fought Gaara and did damage that no one else managed to do. You bested two of the Kazekagee's children and healed many in between your matches. You may be the only reason Lee's Bone fragment did not spread, you saved him a horrible surgery! You showed extreme advancement in your taijutsu and kenjutsu, going from utter novice at Kenjutsu just a few months ago to easily Chunin level in that art! You also have one of the best records for learning the Mystic Palm! Your record is very, very good. I also hear you are training a ninja cat, with some success according to Hiashi. Be warned though, there is a reason few animals become ninjas. Our charka can be... mutative and damaging to their bodies and minds. Be very careful, less you harm your friend there." She smiled."Hello, Ghost, you are a handsome boy aren't you?"
Ghost purred loudly at her.
Shizune, the Hokage's student and assistant, handed them their flack vests as Tsunade declared. "Hinata Hyuuga, Mika. take your vests with the knowledge that you are now Chunin! Mika, your house arrest is done, I will not punish you for the crimes of others. I do wish to evaluate you on your medical skills, I know you have had no instruction over the last few weeks due to Kabuto's betrayal and the rush of work needed... I wish to arrange for you a sensei and to see where you stand. Meet me at the Hospital in one hour.
That is all, you are all dismissed."
Shaking, Mika left with Hinata, unable to believe the newest truth... that he was a chunin and a part of his dreams had come true... he a no one, a clanless ninja... and that was everything.
