Why are all fights so showboaty? I love the anime, but the fights between each of the Sound Ninja seemed to be perfect matchups to take a while... it was great thematically but also really annoying.

Keep in mind Jirobo took the entire Sasuke retrieval group, it was only their cockiness that lost their battles. Also, ninety percent of the fights were talking...

Hinata vs Jirobo

"What a pretty girl, pity I got to kill you."

Hinata sneered at the moron before her, his orange hair and ugly face disgusted her enough but it was his words that really got to her. "Like you can, now shut up and fight." Activating her Byakugan more fully, she saw that he had high reserves of chakra, not Naruto high but still far above average. Easily higher than Kakashi's chakra levels last time she looked, more comparable to Gai's chakra levels. 'He's a big guy, I need to be light on my feet, who knows what he is capable of. A ninja working for Orochimaru will not be weak.'

Growling at her, the man charged at her slowly, so slowly that Hinata got bored and Shushined behind him in three steps and jabbed his legs and lower back in three perfect strikes.

The big boy fell down, gasping. "What did you do?"

She answered by ramming a kunai into his temple.

No showboating, no dramatic speeches, just quick victory that preserves power, skill and chakra levels.

'If I wasn't trained by Hana in evasion and speed, would I have been able to do that? Probably not... pity for him really.' Knowing her duty, she turned to the next fighter, the one needing her most, and she gasped at the horrible sight before her. With every ounce of skill she had, she rushed to the Fight, hoping to stop the slaughter she saw coming.

Naruto and Kiba vs Kidomaru

Naruto whimpered a little as he and Kiba were easily wacked away by the spider guy's six arms. It hurt, the guy was really strong and he hit so many times that Naruto felt bruises on his bruises. Everything hurt but not matter what Naruto did, the guy easily thwarted him, even his shadow clones were being beaten up badly! Still, he charged and charged, doing his damndest to make contact.

Suddenly Akamaru, flying at the man over Naruto's clones, was grabbed around the throat and thrown really hard into a tree. He did not get up...

"AKAMARU!" Kiba screamed, flying into a rage he charged the Spiderguy who fled into the trees. Naruto ran with Kiba to Akamaru, wishing he could help but knowing he really could not do a damn thing. Kiba picked up his puppy, holding him to his chest, crying. "Akamaru, please, get up, I-ARGH!" Blood exploded through Kiba's mouth as a Golden arrow erupted through Kiba's chest, spearing both dog and master in one fell swoop.

Naruto looked on, blood on his face, barely hearing Hinata's scream of utter agony as she ran towards them...it was only when sheer, monstrous, Killer intent that shamed the Kyuubi itself exploded from the demure girl that he managed to break out of his shock.

Turning he saw her vanish, chakra exploding in ripples from where she stood. Not even a second later, the Spiderguy flew out of the trees, blood spewing from his lips. Falling down harshly, Naruto watched the Spiderguy flailing in agony as he crashed to the ground. Hinata was there on him in an instant, her body glowing with hate, rage, and chakra. Raising her foot, she slammed it down on the man's chest, spearing right through his body, reducing him to nothing but a corpse.

Hinata's tears fell down her face, her body shivering.

"How?" Naruto asked.

She sighed. "Hyuuga and medical level chakra control, Shushin, chakra enhanced taijutsu courtesy of training with Mika, and a lot of hatred... I strained my muscles, I am going to be sore for a week even with Lady Tsunade, but it's worth it... I am so sorry, Kiba..." She quickly sealed her victim away and then did the same to her old teammates. "Naruto, I order you, to grab Sasuke's coffin and take it back to the Leaf as fast as you can. Do not fail us, do not come back, just run. We have company and the chakra size says it is likely to be very, very dangerous."

With her cold eyes, and her dark tone, Naruto was not brave enough to disobey. Grabbing the Coffin, he fled, taking his best friend back to the Leaf.

Neji Vs Tayuya

Neji found it very, very easy to beat the red-haired Kunoichi. He was faster, stronger, and immune to her genjutsu. Being able to see her chakra waves, he just suppressed fluctuated his chakra and boom he was able to ignore her powers. Without hesitation, he closed the gap she tried to establish, her hands moving through the summoning jutsu. Neji grabbed her shoulder and pumped her full of lighting chakra, stunning her long enough to slit her throat with a kunai.

"Mika was right, why waste my chakra when sometimes it is easier to use a weapon... I wonder what weapon I should master?"

Hinata's scream shattered his thoughts, he turned and saw the dead body of Kiba... but he did hot get the chance to mourn his comrade, as at the far edges of Neji's senses he saw someone approaching. Someone with a vast chakra presence, rushing at a very fast rate. They needed to be ready, mourning could and would have to wait.

Mika VS Sakon/Ukon

"Hidden Mist Jutsu."

Mika invoked as strong as a mist as he was capable of and pulled out his blade. Without waiting, he shushined around at a rapid pace, expending more stamina than he would like, knowing he needed to end the fight as soon as possible to help his less capable teammates... namely, Naruto, who had no tactical powers or willingness to kill nor any real taijutsu skills...

"What are you up to, this mist won't sav-AH!" His opponent screamed as Mika, with each shushin, unleashed a new cut to the older boy's body. Some were paper thin, but others were inches deep. "I WILL KILL YOU FOR-" And like that, with him giving the location of his head with that scream, Mika channeled chakra into his tanto and swiped down, beheading the boy entirely.

Just to be safe, Mika tagged him with an explosive tag and shushined away, releasing the tag just as someone screamed. "UKON!" Only to die in an explosion that dispersed the mist and sent body parts flying.

Quickly, Mika evaluated the area and saw Naruto missing alongside the coffin, Hinata crying, Neji looking smug, and Kiba dead...

"Well, shit... Tsume is going to kill us... Hinata what-"

"Incoming, a powerful Kage tier chakra at an incredible pace. Will be here in ten seconds, they have the curse mark."

"Formation Three!" The three Ninjas formed a group with Neji and Hinata in front and Mika in back. The strong taijutsu users in front, the more support type ninja and strategist in back.

Within seconds, ten as Hinata said, a figure dropped down. He had white hair and red dots on his eyebrows. Pale and sickly looking, he smelled of death... and yet there was an air of power that Mika, even without sensory powers, could all but taste.

"Ahh, Mika... Lord Orochimaru has a request for you. Come with me, or I am to take your head alongside Sasuke Uchiha's body. You have ten seconds to decide."

This was a fun, but hard chapter to write. I will be showing death. Kidomaru is a great fighter, and the best person to fight Naruto who has no range powers... same with Kiba... and Naruto rarely plans. Kidomaru realized he needed to be fast and not play you see the results.

I think the fights fit really, really well.. Jirobo was slow, Tayuya was a one trick pony that would never work against Hyuuga as gifted as Neji... Sakon and Ukon only really had Taijutsu and Mika's speed and stealth made him the perfect person to best them.
