Chapter 27
I looked out of the window of the quinjet as Clint flew us back to New York.
I was able to convince Nick to get me a small crew to find some people on the ground.
If I saved them, I would solve so many issues!
I walked through the crowd of people as they were being attended to by SHIELD operatives.
I had my mask and visor on, to keep my identity secret, I was close to giving up then stopped as I saw them.
I recognized Zemo from a mile away. He was looking over his wife and son… I smiled softly and walked over. "Are you alright?" I asked the man.
Zemo looked at me. "Yes… You're one of the avengers…" He said. I shrugged. "You could say that.. Just came to see if everything was alright." I looked around at the people still alive. "I'm glad to see that everyone is safe."
Zemo gave me a quizzical look. "I thought heroes don't mingle with people." I laughed. "We're human first sir." I told him. "Well at least I am." I rubbed the back of my head.
"Wow, what's your hero name?" Zemo's son asked with a bright grin. I looked at the boy. "Call me Dekiru." I said ruffling the kid's hair.
"... Can do?" Zemo asked, understanding the meaning of my name. "Yeah, that means that I can do my best." I responded. "Well.. Thank you for saving us." Zemo's wife thanked me." Just part of the job ma'am." I nodded.
"Can I be a hero like you?" Zemo's son asked. I looked at the boy once again. "Maybe but, you gotta learn to be strong." I looked at the jet. "I gotta go." I walked away.
"Take care now!" I called back.
I looked behind me to see all the avengers together.
Something that won't happen until Endgame. Our presence changed things and hopefully for the better, I got up as we arrived at the tower.
"Friday, honey, order us a buffet of shawarma and a couple of orders of pizza." Tony called out to the new AI. "Oh, all cheese for me!" Melissa raised her hand.
"Same here." I grinned as we all grouped up in the lounge room. I took my shield off my back and placed it next to me as I sat down. "Ahhh~" I sighed in relief. "Heh, tired nerd?" Bakugo put his gauntlets down.
"Now I see why Mr. Aizawa pushes us so hard in training, this isn't easy." Ochako sat next to me, taking her boots off.
"I agree, though I don't think stuff like this will happen once we go pro." Momo took off her visor and sat next to Shoto.
"Well, at least you have first hand experience." Tony sat down with a drink in hand. Melissa came up behind him and threw soda cans at us, I caught mine with black whip, Ochako levitated hers, Momo and Shoto caught theirs and Bakugo… it hit him over the head. He growled at Melissa who stuck her tongue out.
"Experience is the best teacher." Thor agreed as he had a bottle of liquor in hand. "We should be celebrating our victory!" Thor raised his bottle. "I hear that, it's been a long day." Clint pumped his fist into the air.
"So this is what you do after a battle?" Pietro asked. "Party?" Clint looked at the speedster. "Is there a problem, happy feet?"
"No no, I like it, also it's Quicksilver." Pietro puffed his chest in pride. "Oh my lord… who gave him that name?" Wanda asked. "Guilty." I raised my hand.
"Oh come on sis, heroes have code names, yours can be…. Red Witch." Wanda rolled her eyes. "No." I looked at the Sokovian girl. "Hmmm no, it doesn't suit you." Natasha commented as she relaxed on the sofa.
"How about… Scarlet Witch?" I asked, Wanda looked at me. "... The Scarlet Witch.. I like it." I smiled at that. "So, how about a toast?" Melissa asked, holding up her own can of soda.
"Oh and toast to what?" Bruce asked as he had a bottle of water, he was quiet for most of the flight, he must have a lot on his mind.
"To new friends." She looked to Vision, Wanda and Pietro. "To our victory, to the Avengers." Melissa smiled brightly.
"I'll toast to that." Nat raised her bottle of beer. "As will I." Thor agreed. "Me too." Steve raised his bottle. "You know I will." Tony smirked, raising his drink. "Fine." Bruce smiled at Melissa, Bakugo smirked and raised his can of soda, Momo did the same, Todoroki nodded and raised his can, Ochako raised her, "To us!"
Pietro ran out of the room and came back giving a soda can to his sister and a… can of oil to Vision, Pietro smirked, having a soda can for himself. "To us." He raised his can. Wanda smiled. "To us." Vision looked at the can of oil then to Pietro… "To us." He spoke softly.
I looked around and grinned. "To us Avengers." I raised my can.
"Cheers!" We all downed our drinks. "Boss, delivery is here." Friday called. "Oh I'll get it!" Pietro ran to the elevator. I got up. "I'll help him." I followed after the speedster.
The food was now on the table, I could see my friends salivating at the sight.
"Dibs!" I took the first slice of pepperoni pizza and took a bite. "Oh… Oh man." I moaned in delight. "So, how's the pizza?" Natasha smirked as she took a slice for herself. "New York Pizza doesn't disappoint." I responded as my friends grabbed slices for themselves.
We ate until we could eat no more.
"You mentioned having a baby sister." Clint brought up. "Oh yeah, her name is Eri." I responded as I fished my phone out of my pocket and showed Clint a picture of Eri that I took as we were walking back from UA, he took the phone and stared at it for… 2 minutes.
"Clint?" Tony snapped him out of it. "She's cute… too cute… that's a dangerous weapon right there." Clint passed the phone to Tony who stared at it. "... I now have diabetes." Tony said in a flat tone then threw the phone back to me.
I smirked. "I know." Natasha took my phone and was smiling. "She's adorable." She tilted her head. "Her horn adds to the cuteness factor." Bruce looked over her shoulder. "I can agree…" Bruce looked away and rubbed his eyes.
Pietro took the phone and grinned. "Eri huh." He showed Wanda who took it and her face scrunched up. "Oh my god…" She looked at me. "She's so cute." I laughed. "Everyone says that." I looked at the girls who blushed.
"No one can resist her cuteness." I declared with a proud smirk. "She'll be a real heart breaker when she grows up." Pietro commented.
I frowned and glared at the floor at the thought of boys getting close to my Eri… No boys… I won't allow it.
Steve looked at the phone, "She looks very happy." He commented. I looked up at him. "Yeah, I'll keep it that way with everything I have." I responded with a smirk.
After two hours of celebrating, everyone went to their rooms to get some rest.
I called Steve and Tony. "Guys, I need to talk to you about something important." I said we went to Tony's lab.
I sat down on a stool and watched as Tony sat on one also and Steve stayed standing.
I took a deep breath, I needed to be careful with my words. "... I have had visions." I started. "First time, when I tried to keep the Ultron bots from taking the sceptre and the other time, when I was touching the cradle." I looked at Steve.
"I saw things, things that are very… very personal.." I bit my lip. "One of those visions… was about you two… fighting… not sparring… Fighting." The two men looked at each other. "Why?" Steve asked.
"... Does the name Buchanan Barnes ring any bells?" I asked. Steve narrowed his eyes. "Your friend from the old war." Tony looked at Steve. "What does he have to do with this?"
"... He was lying on the floor… his arm was missing." I looked at Steve. "Tony was trying to kill him." I revealed. "Why?" Steve demanded. "... Steve… Did you tell Tony about what Barnes did?" I asked softly.
Steve flinched and looked down. "What did he do?" Tony asked, confused by my question. ".. You didn't." I sighed and rubbed my face. "Steve, you need to tell him, now." I told the super soldier. "Or else, he'll find out and things will not go well." I looked into Steve's eyes.
Steve looked at Tony, guilt ridden, "Tony… Your… Parents… they didn't die in a car accident.." Steve was having a hard time. Tony frowned. "How do you know?" He asked. I looked away as Steve dropped the bomb.
"When Natasha and I were on the run from Hydra… we found out that Bucky.. The Winter Soldier committed acts for Hydra." Steve explained. "One of those… acts was.." Steve stopped as he teared up.
Tony's expression turned blank. "... He killed them… Didn't he?" I could hear the pain in his voice. "... Yes." Tony shot up. "And you're telling me this NOW?" Tony looked enraged. "Stark-" "STAY OUT OF THIS!" Tony yelled.
I got up and used black whip to pull Tony off. "Calm down!" I demanded. "You knew, you never told me!" Tony snarled. I understood the pain of what he was going through, it reminded me of Iida.
I walked over and slapped Tony across the face. "Calm. Down." I growled. "I told him to tell you because, if I didn't then you would have found out and then tried to kill him." I explained.
"That man killed my parents!" Tony shouted, "NO!" I rubbed my face. "Hydra did, Barnes was the gun." I explained.
Steve looked at me. "You know where he is?" He asked me. "No, I don't, I just saw visions of you guys fighting." I explained. "I also saw events that come after, but more on that after Tony calms down."
The inventor glared at Steve before looking at me. "Can you let me go?" "Are you gonna get over your hatred over Barnes and help him?" I asked.
"Help him?" Tony looked at me like I was insane. "Why would I help him?"
"Because Barnes is a man broken by Hydra, a tool, someone like him needs help and support and I know that you can help him." I responded. "I also know of another group who can help but right now they can't." I explained, this was hard, trying to withhold information without seeming suspicious.
"..." Tony said nothing as he looked down. "I.. need time to think.." I released him as he got up. I watched Tony walk out of the room, I turned my gaze to Steve who looked saddened.
".. I know it was hard.. But I want to help you guys." I whispered. "No.. Tony deserved to know, I just couldn't bring myself to do it on my own." Steve walked out of the lab, leaving me alone.
I sighed and walked out of the lab to go to my room, I was tired.
I opened my eyes and I recognized where I was.
I groaned. "Come on guys, I need rest!" I turned to see the predecessors of OFA.
I was in the visage world again. Nana crossed her arms. "Sorry kid, but we need to talk." I raised an eyebrow.
"And this can't wait because?"
"Something happened with Danger Sense." Yoichi responded. I narrowed my eyes, I suspected as such. "What exactly happened?"
The 4th user stepped up. "When you came into contact with the mind stone, it changed danger sense in a way that we weren't even sure was possible."
I rubbed my forehead. "Like to sense people?" I asked, remembering when I went to find Zemo. "Yes, but only certain people, we don't know if it's temporary or permanent." I groaned. "Great."
Nana giggled. "I guess you really are tired if you're complaining this much."
I pointed at her. "I want to sleep, I haven't slept in days!"
Daigoro scoffed. "Back in my day, heroes didn't sleep for a week!" "Well it's not your day is it!" I snarked back.
Yoichi smiled softly, "We just wanted to make sure you knew the changes." I gave the first user a thumbs up and left the visage world and slipped into sleep.
Two days passed since Tony and Steve spoke to each other.
Tony was giving the silent treatment and not leaving his room.
The other avengers took notice but I just told them that it was a personal matter.
Currently I was learning to throw my shield and catch it once it returned to me, I was using training posts in the gym.
I threw it and watched it ricochet off the two posts and I caught it with a grunt, catching it was harder than throwing it with the force when it came to catching it.
Steve watched and gave me pointers but I knew his mind was elsewhere.
"... Have you spoken to Stark?" I asked. "No." was all he replied and I decided to leave it at that.
After I finished training, I ventured off to find Stark.
"Friday, where's Tony?" I asked the AI. "Boss is in his room." I took the elevator to his floor and made my way to his room and knocked on the door… No answer.
"Friday, open the door." I tried the door knob. "I can't do that." I sighed. "Stark, if you don't open this door then I'm gonna break it down!" I warned him.
After a few moments, the door opened and I frowned seeing Tony looking horrible. "What?" He asked. "Look… I know I'm being pushy.." "Pushy, yes, you are pushing your butt into matters that don't concern you." Tony snapped.
"... Who are you really angry at?" I asked. Tony looked confused. "You're angry at Steve because you have no one else to blame." I said.
"You don't know what it's like.. To lose someone important to you and not be able to do anything about it." Tony glared.
"I don't." I confirmed. "But I knew someone who was in the same mindset as you." I said. "My friend was consumed by vengeance and pushed everyone away." I thought back to Iida. "He was gonna make a big mistake because he was not thinking straight." I continued. "I stopped him and helped him by being there for him when he needed help the most, I'm doing that here and now." I crossed my arms daring him to argue.
Tony glared at me for a few moments before leaning against the door frame, "Why…" He asked. "Because, you're cutting yourself off from your friends, people who can help you… I don't think anyone wants to see you like this." I gave him a concerned look.
"I agree with him." A female voice behind me agreed. I looked behind me and I saw Pepper Potts standing in the hall. "Pep…" Tony looked at her surprised. "I came here to see how you're doing and this is what I find?" Pepper walked past me to cup Tony's cheek.
I felt awkward as I looked at the floor. "Umm I'm-" "I know who you and your friends are, you've been making the news and Jar-Friday, updated me on everything." Pepper cut me off.
".. Everything?" I asked, "Yes… can I have some time with him?" Pepper asked, I nodded and left the hall. When in doubt… count on Pepper.
I was sitting on the edge of the hangar once again. I watched the sunset over the city, it was nice…
I hoped I made the right choice by telling Tony… I didn't want to hurt him but if I didn't he would find out in a different way and it would have been worse.
"So this is where you were." I looked behind me to see Wanda standing by the quinjet with two mugs in hand.
"Oh hi Wanda." I greeted as I got up. "Did you need something?" I asked, "No.. just looking for some company." She shrugged her shoulders.
I came closer as she extended a mug. "Hot coco." She told me, I smiled and took it. "Thanks." I took a sip. "Hmm this is good, where's your brother?" I asked, making the witch roll her eyes. "He's fighting Bakugo and Todoroki at the same time." I chuckled.
We sat on the steps next to the jet and sipped our coco.
"... You said you had visions." Wanda looked at me. "From the stone, what were they?" She asked. "I don't know if I should say.. I told Stark and Rogers and now they're not on speaking terms." I sighed.
"Oh.. so that's why." Wanda looked away. "... We were told you weren't from this world, is that true?" I nodded.
"Yup, other worlder right here." I pointed to myself. "We're just waiting for our portal to open up and then we'll be going straight home." I explained.
"What's your world like?" Wanda looked at her coco. I hummed. "A superhuman society where most of the people have special abilities we call quirks." I explained. "During that time, laws were made to keep people from misusing those powers, being a hero became a profession." I sipped my hot chocolate.
"And you're one of those heroes?" Wanda guessed. I shook my head. "No, my friends and I are students, we're still learning. For us, Sokovia was a trial by fire, testing us on what we learned in school."
Wanda raised an eyebrow. "A school for kids to become heroes?" "Yeah, that's normal for us." I shrugged.
Wanda looked at me for a moment. "Why do you do it?" She asked. "Why be a hero?"
I gazed at her. "Because I always wanted to be one since I was a boy, I wanted to save people." I smiled, "My goal is to become the world's greatest hero."
"Quite the goal." Wanda placed her chin on her palm. "A goal I'm working to reach." I smirked at her. Wanda nodded with a hum.
I finished my hot coco and put it aside. "You know, when I met you, I saw a girl who was confused and lost." I said, Wanda frowned. "How so?"
"You didn't know right from wrong, who was good and who was bad." I said. "Something like that is crucial in this line of work." I explained. "You were fighting with Hydra… Then Ultron." I listed out.
"So, my brother and I have bad moral compasses." Wanda deduced. "No."I shook my head. "What brought you to our side was the fact that Ultron wanted to cause global extinction." I pointed at her.
"Once you found that out, you didn't want to fight with him anymore." Wanda stared at me. I turned to face her. "You can be on any side, but to know which side is right, you have to look at what the people on that side are doing." I explained further.
"If they're experimenting on people and plotting then their bad guys." Wanda giggled at the last part. "Hey it's true!" I pouted.
"Sorry, sorry, go on." Wanda controlled herself but was still smirking. "If the people focus on protecting others, saving lives." I smiled. "That's the kind of crowd you wanna go with, we saw that the Avengers were protecting others, we knew that they were the good guys."
Wanda hummed, "Me and Pietro were just blinded by anger towards Stark…" She conjured up some magic in her hand. "Now we're working with him… to protect others." She closed her fist. "And it doesn't seem wrong."
"You just need to remember what's important, saving people." I got up. "Thanks for the drink." I walked inside. "I'll see you around." I went inside as Wanda watched me leave with a smile on her face and a blush on her cheeks.
The next morning, I got up and walked into the kitchen. I stopped as I saw Steve and Tony talking again, I smiled as they seemed to be on good terms.
I made my way to the kitchen and saw Pepper making some pancakes. I walked over. "Umm hey Ms. Potts." I greeted awkwardly. Pepper looked at me. "Good morning, you'll be happy to know that Tony is giving Steve a shot and will help find Mr. Barnes." Pepper flipped a pancake. "Want some?" She asked.
"Please, so… you seem very relaxed about this." I said as I sat down. "Having a billionaire, playboy for a boyfriend is very tiring, after seeing all the stuff of aliens, gods, people from other worlds isn't really surprising anymore." Pepper placed a plate in front of me.
"I'm happy Tony was able to put his time and focus on that Melissa girl, sad she's not from here, would love to take her as an intern." Pepper sat down with her own plate. "Yeah, she's our resident genius." I smiled as I poured syrup on my pancakes.
"The blond boy is very rude." I rolled my eyes. "Bakugo, he's very rough around the edges and prideful but has his heart in the right place." I explained. "Reminds me of Tony." Pepper sipped her coffee.
"... Thank you Ms. Potts, for helping Tony." I thanked her. "You are welcome.. I just can't believe that Steve never told Tony." Pepper mumbled. "Well.. I wouldn't be able to if I was in Steve's place." I responded.
"Why did you tell them?" Pepper asked. I shrugged. "In order to prevent the end of the world." I took a bite as Pepper sighed at that rubbing her forehead.
Ochako ran in. "Deku! I need a sparring partner!" I got up. "Coming, it was nice talking to you, Miss Potts." I bowed. "Oh please call me Pepper." Pepper waved me off as I went with Ochako to the training room.
