Present Day:
"Remind me again why we are traipsing through the woods in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of adolescent hormone ridden teenagers?" Rosalie asked as she watched two of their classmates engaged in activities that she was sure their chaperone wouldn't be happy about. Rosalie wasn't sure why she agreed to go on this trip but she would deny Angela nothing, even if that led her to be in the middle of the Canadian wilderness with a bunch of classmates.
"I am one of those teenagers and as for why we are here, I am here to experience nature and spend time with my human friends." Angela told her. "You on the other hand are here because you can't leave me alone for five seconds let alone five days."
Rosalie rolled her eyes from her place walking behind Angela. "Well sue me if I wanted to make sure my mate was safe while she was away from civilization. Anything could have happened to you out here. I just worry."
Angela stopped walking and turned towards Rosalie. She gave her a soft smile and pulled her into a hug. "I know sweetheart and I love that you care so much about me but you don't have to complain the whole time. You also don't have to threaten every male that comes within 12 feet of me."
"I wouldn't have to if they kept their thoughts clean. If one more comes up to you to proposition you I won't be held responsible for someone going missing on this trip." Rosalie grumbled.
"Well not all of us have mastered the glare of death that makes anyone it is focused on run the other way in terror." Angela released Rosalie from the hug and continued on through the forest.
"Regardless they should know by now you are with me. I mean it's been almost two years." Rosalie followed Angela dutifully as they walked through the forest at first thinking they were just walking in no particular direction. It was ten minutes later and the look of confused determination on Angela's face that made her think otherwise. "Where are we going? You look like you have a place in mind."
"I'm not sure exactly. I just have this overwhelming urge to walk this way." Angela couldn't really explain what was directing her footsteps just that it felt important that she kept going.
Rosalie became more alert at hearing this. "Is it like the other feelings you get sometimes?"
"No it is stronger. I honestly don't think I could stop walking if I tried, the feeling I need to get to someplace in particular being that urgent." Angela told her. Angela's family was rumored to be descended from ancient witches. At least that's what Angela's grandmother believed. Angela's mother thought that her mother was a little crazy when she began talking about prophecies and the pureness of their bloodline. Angela wasn't sure what she believed but there were times when she had overwhelming urges to do things. The few times she failed to followed through something bad happened so when she felt like this she made an effort to see it through as quickly as possible as sometimes time was a huge factor.
"Ok then at least let me lead the way. There is no telling what it can be guiding you to. This place is uninhabited by humans but who knows what supernaturals live here." Rosalie stepped in front of Angela leading her through the woods looking out for danger. They walked for over an hour only speaking when Angela gave Rosalie directions on where to go. When Angela told Rosalie to stop it was in front of a pile of stones that looked like they were at some point a small building. A very old stone building. "This is what you were drawn to?"
"Yes but the feeling hasn't gone away." Angel moved past Rosalie and started examining the stones. She noticed that some had carvings on them. "It looks like there is some kind of writing on them. I don't know the language though."
"Well I guess the only thing we can do is move the stones." Rosalie began to slowly move the stones and stack them out of the way to let Angela examine them as she went along. After getting to what would have been the foundation she noticed that the stone floor had some kind of circle filled with runes carved into it."Weird. If the other stones were in such bad shape then the floor should had been as well but it seems like the stone could almost be brand new. I don't know what this carving is either. Do you?"
Angela joined Rosalie in wiping the dirt and grime off the floor to uncover the carvings. "I don't but a few of these are familiar. I recognize some of them from that weird painting my grandmother has in her study. You know the one of the castle with the dragon and all those different animals?"
"Yes, I always thought that it was odd to have such a theme as a painting in an old lady's house. Although it is really old isn't it?" Rosalie asked.
"Yeah when I asked my grandmother about it she said that one of my ancestors painted it. That was the first time she ever told me about that crazy prophesy." Angela didn't think her grandmother was crazy she just thought that through the generations stories got retold in different ways as the originals were lost to time.
"Regardless if your grandmother is crazy what do you want to do? I could always brake the floor to see whats under it." Rosalie offered.
As Angela looked at the freshly cleaned off floor something sparked in the back of her mind. It felt like a memory long forgotten came to the forefront of her mind. What it was she couldn't quite figure out how to decipher though. "Step back away from the floor."
"What are you thinking?" Rosalie asked as she moved away from the foundation.
"I think I know what these markings mean." Angela walked slowly around the circle studying the runes closely. On her fifth time around she felt like a vale had been lifted from her sight and suddenly she was able to translate the runes. As she read she became more certain."I definitely know what they mean."
"What? How do you know?" Rosalie asked. She didn't doubt Angela, as her love was very intuitive but was surprised as the writing seemed ancient.
"I don't know. I just stopped thinking about what they were and just focused on the sight of them and all of a sudden it was like they all made sense." Angela explained. "They are some type of spell guarding something."
"Wait a spell? Are you trying to tell me magic is real?" Rosalie wasn't so sure of that. If there was magic she was sure she as a vampire would know about it.
"I'm just telling you what it says." Angela could feel her excitement grow as she translated the rest of the runes. If what she read was true then it proved her grandmother wasn't crazy and that witches actually did exist. "It says that beneath the ground is the last one of it's kind and should only be called forth if the time it is needed is upon us."
"What the hell does that mean?" Rosalie was starting to get worried. She wasn't sure she and Angela were the right ones to be dealing with any of this.
"I'm not sure but I know how to break the seal." Angela stood in the middle of the circle and began chanting the words that formed in her mind stopping when Rosalie called out to her.
"Are you actually going to release what's under there. What if it is something dangerous?" This wasn't something Rosalie felt very comfortable with. She wasn't sure she could protect her mate from whatever was being concealed beneath those rocks.
"This is what has been calling me. It's the reason I felt the need to go on this trip.I'm sure of it." Angela told her.
"OK just be careful." Rosalie stepped a little closer to the foundation just incase Angela needed her.
"I will be." Angela promised. She held out her hands and began the chant again. She wasn't sure how she knew the words but she was positive that they were the right ones and as the circle began to glow a bright violet color she knew she was right. After she finished the chant she rushed towards Rosalie just in time as the foundation shimmered and suddenly a large reptile like being standing eight feet tall stood where Angela had.
Rosalie was almost frozen in fear. The eight foot tall humanoid had skin of silver and scales that covered it's body that were the same color violet as the circle had been. It's black horns protruded from it's head and a long scaled covered tail wrapped around it's body. Rosalie was almost convinced they had just unleashed a demon. The violet accented scales seemed to cover it's body like armor. It had a long scar that started at it's forehead and crossed over it's closed eye ending at it's chin. That wasn't the only scar though as it's body and scales showed that it had been in many battles. If that didn't make Rosalie nervous enough the large silver and violet axe it was clutching in it's hands would have.
Both Angela and Rosalie gasped as the figure took in a deep breath and opened it's violet eyes. It wasn't that the color that was surprising it was the fact that they could see silver fire dancing in the irises. The being turned those eyes to Angela and spoke one word sounding confused. "Melinda?"
Angela took a step forward only to be stopped by Rosalie. "I'm Angela and this is Rosalie."
The being tilted it's head and began to speak in a strange language. Seeing the confusion of both Rosalie and Angela it motioned for Angela to take it's hand. Rosalie held Angela tight not letting her go. Seeming to get impatient the being walked to Angela and touched her forehead. It closed it's eyes and concentrated for a moment and then opened it's eyes and smiled. When it spoke it had a strange accent that Rosalie couldn't place. "Ah I see you are not Melinda but a descendant and you have brought a vampire with you. Witches weren't very keen on vampires in my time but it is good to see that relations have improved."
Angela blushed at the word relations." As I said I am Angela and this is Rosalie may we ask who you are and why you were sealed out here?"
"Where are my manners. I am Bella and if you have summoned me that means the prophecy is coming to fruition." Bella told them.
"The prophecy, what are you talking about?" Rosalie asked. This Bella person didn't seem hostile but she wasn't going to let her guard down.
"Well as Angela is the descendant of the witch who sealed me away I assumed you knew who I was." Bella was confused as to what was going on. This wasn't turning out how she expected. " I am the last of my kind. The dragon queen of the weres. I was sealed away because a seer predicted an event that would come that needed my involvement."
Rosalie was speechless. She had never heard of dragons actually existing. It was all legends and fairy tales." You're a dragon?"
"Yes." Bella confirmed. "Although I am not in my true form I am the last dragon. My kind were killed during the war."
"How is it you know our language so easily?" Angela's mind was reeling and she wasn't sure exactly what to think.
"With a touch I can shift through your mind. It allows me to gain knowledge to adapt. I learned English from you." Bella explained.
"Amazing." Angela said.
"What is this event you need to be involved in?" Rosalie asked. She wasn't sure they could trust Bella but the dragon hadn't attacked them yet so that was a good sign. Especially since Rosalie had no chance at defending herself or Angela against it.
"During my time there was a great war with a coven of vampires called the Romanians. They were trying to take over the world and enslave humans. My people allied with vampires and some witches to oppose them. Unfortunately I was forced to leave as the war was still raging. A seer had predicted the war would be lost and that a group of vampires would rebel and take control and bring peace once again. However the peace would not last. The vision was that the Romanians would build a new army in the shadows and once again rise to take over the world. I was sealed away because the threat was so great that it was said that I would be the one to bring together all of those needed to save the world and keep humans from knowing of the supernatural." Bella told them.
"The Romanians? So that's how they came to power." Rosalie's mind was overwhelmed with this information. The Romanians were the oldest known vampires in existence and not many knew how they came to power. They only knew that the Volturi queens had taken it from them. If the Romanians were building an army to overthrow the queens then Rosalie needed to inform someone quickly to investigate. "I think we need to go home."
"I agree. We are supposed to be leaving tomorrow morning." Angela looked Bella over trying to figure out a way to get the dragon to Forks unseen. "I don't know how to get you to our home town without you being seen by everyone."
Bella smiled exposing dangerous looking fangs. "It is no problem. I have three forms. This is the one I use most. However I have a human form. If you would be so kind to let me borrow some clothing I should be able to blend in just fine."
Rosalie watched as Bella shrank from an eight foot tall humanoid to a six foot tall woman who looked to be in her late twenties. She had brown hair that fell into waves over her shoulder, her eyes were a blue color with no sign of the flames and the scaring on her body was no more. The only problem was that that said body was completely naked and apparently well endowed. Rosalie didn't expect the dragon to have a penis but then again what did she know about turned her head and nudged Angela in the arm causing her to turn bright red as she looked away. "I'll go get you some of my clothes. They won't fit perfectly but it's better than being naked."
"Thank you Rosalie." Bella liked these two. It helped that Angela was related to Melinda who was a close friend. Rosalie and Angela both seemed kind and willing to help which would make this whole thing much easier. It would be even better if they could introduce her to those in charge of both the vampires and the weres but she wasn't counting on them being that close to them.
"I'll be right back. Angela will you be alright?" Rosalie asked. She didn't want to leave Angela but she was only going to be five minutes at the most.
"I'm fine staying here with Bella." Angela told her. Now that they knew who Bella was she was excited for a chance to ask about witches. Before this happened she didn't really believe as much but now she was certain that her grandmother was right. She couldn't wait to tell her. Maybe she could convince Bella to visit the old woman.
"Ok. Be safe." Rosalie told her taking off as fast as she could back to the camp site. She really wanted to call Carlisle and let him know what was going on but there was no cell service for miles around her and there was no way she was leaving Angela alone that long. If Bella was telling the truth and Rosalie had a gut feeling she was then their world was about to become a whole lot more dangerous. If that was the case there was no way in hell she was going to let her mate out of her sight for any long periods of time. She waited a long time to find Angela and she would be damned if some old decrepit vampires were going to take her from her.
