Charlie Swan sighed as he pulled into the driveway of the modest family home in the outskirts of Forks. He wasn't exactly sure what he was feeling about the subject he came to discuss with the single occupant of the home. He was of course worried but that was second to the overwhelming feeling of happiness. He was trying really hard not to get his hopes up as they had false alarms before but he felt in his gut that this time was the real deal. That meant he needed to get out of his car and knock on the home's front door. Sighing again he exited his police cruiser and made his way to the house. Before he could raise his hand to knock the door opened revealing an elderly woman sporting a bright smile on her face.

"I know why you are here." The woman said.

"I wouldn't doubt you do, Beatrice. "Charlie wasn't surprised at all. He was counting on her knowing.

Beatrice opened the door wider. "Come in we can talk in the study."

Charlie followed Beatrice through the house that was decorated like you would expect of any grandmother. Pictures of her parents, children and grandchildren adorned the walls. The decorations of each room were tasteful and no one would think by looking at it that Beatrice was anything other than an old woman enjoying her retirement. Charlie knew better though. That was the reason he was here.

"Have a seat." Beatrice motioned for Charlie to sit in one of the two arm chairs in the room taking the other for herself. "Would you like some tea?"

"No thank you." Charlie declined. He wanted to get right to why he was there but knew better than to try and rush Beatrice.

"As I know you aren't here for a friendly visit I suspect you felt it as well?" Beatrice asked.

Charlie nodded. " Yes but this time was different. It wasn't just a feeling it was like it called out to me. I thought for a moment I could hear Melinda's voice telling me it's time."

"That is intriguing. I'm not sure how the original spell was constructed as Melinda never wrote it down for fear someone would be able to release the queen to early. It would make sense that she build in a type of warning when the seal was broken." Beatrice said.

"That's what I was thinking as well." Charlie agreed. " As I know it wasn't you who released her has Angela contacted you yet? I know she isn't due home for a few more hours."

Beatrice smiled at Charlie thinking of his loyalty to her family line. She knew it was his duty but he had always made sure Melinda's descendants were looked after. It had probably more to do with them being the only ones to be able to release his queen but she knew he had a fondness for them. "She won't call me. I have no doubt that she and her vampire are going straight to the Cullen's when they get home. You have to remember that because of her mother she thinks I'm insane."

"I never understood why you put up with your daughter's nonsense." Charlie held back a growl thinking of all the rumors that Angela's mother had started about Beatrice.

"Oh you know how Miranda is. She wouldn't believe me even if the queen showed up at her doorstep in her dragon form. It was hard enough to get her to use a family name for Angela. My daughter has no respect for those who have come before her. It makes me happy she isn't the one who broke the spell." Beatrice was extra glad because if Miranda had found the queen's resting place she would have just ignored it.

"It's a good thing Angela is more open minded than her mother. Although I suspect that she is probably that way now because she is mated to a vampire. I bet her majesty had quite a laugh when she found out. I remember numerous vampires and witches coming to her for council on how to deal with each other. I myself had to break up a few fights." Charlie laughed thinking about the times when he would have to bring a vampire who got into a fight with a witch to the queen to undue whatever spell they had used against them.

"If only she were needed to handle such silly disputes." Beatrice had read her ancestors diaries and knew of their immense hatred of vampires. From what she read witches didn't get along well with were creatures as well until Bella became Queen and forged many alliances with them. Dragons respected those who could use magic as it was rare even amongst their own kind and Bella having magic herself was the main reason she was elected queen.

"Do you think we should contact the others and let them know or wait until we have absolute proof that she has been released?" Charlie asked. He knew that the queen reemerging would be celebrated amongst most of the were creatures as it was a hope they could finally live with out fear of being hunted down. He himself had to keep his lycan origins hidden for fear of vampires hunting had lost many of his kind before they along with most other were creatures went into hiding for safety purposes.

"I wonder if they got the same warning that you did. I know why I didn't get it as I was not the one to release her but from what I know about the prophecy it would make sense for other weres to be alerted." Beatrice said.

"Are you going to contact your people?" Charlie wasn't sure if the witches would be willing to come out from hiding as they had erased their existence from history but if the prophecy was coming to fruition they would need all the help they could get.

"I don't know yet. Many of us have been preparing with this for generations but they will still be wary of making themselves known. Our memory is long and we remember what happened after the queen left." It had been a massacre. Beatrice's ancestors had been hunted for decades until it was believed that all witches had been killed. The vampires had had no mercy on them. It made the silly Salem Witch Trails they held in America look like a bunch of toddlers playing.

"I think her revealing herself to them may help the cause. For millennia she has been nothing but stories past down through the generations. I think most would follow her once they saw her especially if she showed up in dragon form." Charlie was positive that all Bella had to do to get supporters was to meet with people face to face. When in her presence you could feel the power coming off her in waves. He had remembered what it felt like standing by her side like nothing could touch him. When she spoke those around her listened and she could easily turn enemies to friends. The problem with the Romanian war was that the she was held back from actually fighting along side her people. The prophesy had foretold the war was to be lost so that the queen could save the world from a greater threat.

Beatrice looked over at the painting of a purple and silver dragon flying over a castle under siege. "I would love to see her in dragon form."

"Now we just have to decide what to do." Charlie said. "We know Angela won't contact you and they will probably be on their way to the Cullen's. Do you want to go over there and wait for them. I know her majesty will want to know the state of things as they are now. I don't think it right to keep her waiting."

"What should we do about the mind reader?" Beatrice asked.

"I don't suppose you could use mind magic to make him look the other way before he realizes he can't hear our thoughts." Bella had used magic to make all of her personal guards resistant to all types of mind manipulation. During all the millennia he had lived no one had been able to break the spell.

Beatrice shook her head. "It wouldn't work because he would be constantly trying to read both of our minds to figure out why we were there. Although I am skilled enough to control my thoughts enough to confuse him I can't do anything about your situation."

"Maybe he would just think his gift isn't working. I haven't personally been around the boy and have given no one reason to expect me of being a were creature so he may think it would be a fluke. At least long enough until the queen arrives." During the time they were originally being hunted were creatures discovered a way to mask their scents so they wouldn't be easily identified. It had allowed them to blend in with humans better.

"Then let's go over now. I just need to get my amulet to prove who I am to the queen." Beatrice was starting to feel excitement build within her. Her whole life she had heard stories from her own mother and grandmother about the dragon queen and now she was on her way to actually go meet her. She wished that both previous generations could be here to experience this with her. She also felt a bit of sadness that her own daughter wouldn't ever have the pleasure to meet Bella but she would never believe any of this. Shaking off her melancholy Beatrice went into her bedroom to access her hidden safe. Now was not a time for sadness. A big change was coming and she couldn't waste energy on things that would never change.
