"...Goodbye my beloved daughter, please be happy…" She watched as the orbs holding the souls of her kingdom drifted away. Her vision darkened as she refused to look away. Maybe… we will meet again…
Ranma jerked up in bed soaked in sweat his heart pounding. He grabbed his head in his hands ignoring for the moment the snores coming from across the room. Not again… He pushed back his soaked blanket before he took a few steadying breaths. He stood up and headed to the bathroom and splashed some cold water on his now her face.
"Fith time this week…" She rubbed her brow. It didn't make sense. She shook her head and sat on the side of the Furo. "What does it mean? I…" She trailed off and looked outside staring up at the full moon. She set her lips and climbed out of the bathroom's window creeping onto the roof.
Lately, she had found herself becoming obsessed with the moon. Almost as if it was calling to her. She wasn't sure how long she sat there in the silence of the night but soon the sun began to rise which brought her out of a sort of trance. She shook her head knowing there would be no return to sleep.
"Maybe I can help Kasumi in the kitchen…" Ranma smirked a bit as she climbed down. Wouldn't that surprise everyone? She paused her hand on the door. Someone is watching me…
She swung around hands up already in a ready stance to see…
Nothing
"I coulda sworn…" Ranma shook her head and headed inside to the kitchen the hair still prickled on the back of her neck. She went to start the kettle before she paused. For some reason, she really didn't feel like returning to her boy self. Not yet, jus don't feel right.
Instead, she began digging in the fridge. One nice part of having her Mother back in her life was that she had taught Ranma, or rather Ranko some recipes. If Akane and I are going to be together, one of us needs to be able to cook. At the thought of being with Akane, she smiled and shook her head.
"Let's see got some fish… make some miso an some rice with it. Gonna be simple but maybe people will preciate it." She pulled the fish out and shut the door without any real thought she grabbed an apron and got started.
It was about forty-five minutes later that Kasumi entered the kitchen to see that breakfast was almost finished. She stared eyes wide as Ranma gave the soup a stir. Oh dear, not again… "R-Ranma-Kun?"
Ranma glanced over and smiled "Yeah, don't worry none Kasumi still me. Just thought… I dunno you deserve a break? Sit down at the table. I got it under control."
Kasumi had released a breath that she had not known she was holding. Akane and Ranma we're getting so much closer now that their fathers had decided to give them space. The last thing that needed to happen was something to do with Ranma-Kun's curse. "I… thank you Ranma-Kun, it's not often I get such a break. Er, did you start the tea?"
"Yep! I tol you I got it under control." She turned a hand on her hip the other waving a wooden spoon. "Now shoo! Have a cup of tea! The others should wake up soon."
Kasumi simply stared a moment before she gave a small nod and sat at the table.
Ranma was aware Kasumi was still staring at her but it was to be expected. She opened the oven to check the fish. Almost done She sighed as she began to clean up after herself. A simple task that required no concentration and allowed her to try and recall the nightmare.
It was a battle…A bad one, worse than I've ever even seen. So many were dead. And the blonde girl… She shook her head and pulled the fish from the oven before it could start to burn. He placed them on the serving dish as she frowned. I keep coming back to her, the other dead… I think I must have known them but.
"SERENITY! NO!... Not my baby…"
Ranma jolted out of her thoughts and finished dishing everything up onto platters. Silently she slumped into her spot. She didn't even notice as the rest of her family came down not until her Pop decided that her inattention would be fixed by a sudden swim in the koi pond.
She climbed out coughing having been truly surprised this time she shook her head at Akane's worried glance. "Jus not hungry guess, didn' sleep well." She walked past them and hurried up the stairs. She pulled her soaking wet shorts and tank top off before she got dressed in her normal clothes. "I guess I don't gotta choice. Gotta talk about this with the Old Ghoul. This has gotta have something to do with my curse." Even as she walked downstairs though she could not forget the terror and the feeling of heartbreak when she saw the blonde girl dead.
Serenity…
