Naruto Uzumaki. He was a kid of smiles and laughter, but has a life of tragedy and misfortune. Despite this, he will always persevere, through hardship and whatever hand life deals him. We see this as a 6 year old Naruto is dashing through the twilight streets of Konoha. But he wasn't running for exercise or fun, he was running to save his life. Behind him were a mob of angry villager, anger and resentment clouding their judgement as they hunted down a child. Their emotions suppressed any cognitive thinking they had that day as they wanted to rip the head off "the demon child."

Naruto was running with tears leaking in his eyes. He hated how he was hated. He just wanted people to like him, he wanted to be looked at like the other kids are. Instead, hateful glares and spiteful insults radiate his surroundings no matter where he walks in Konaha. But today, this was the first day they were trying to harm him and getting away with it. Last time, a weird man in a white mask with designs on it took the man away. Now, he didn't see the animal masked man anywhere. All that was behind him was certain death.

A frying pan flew past his head, missing him barely. He quickened his pace and took a sharp left. He dodged the food wagon and jumped over the clothing stand and took a sharp right. Then, the worst thing possible happened, he didn't see anymore street. All he saw was an alleyway. He quickly jumped to the walls, trying to get some footing and climb. But a hand grabbed his ankle and threw him to the ground. That's when all hell began.

Kicks and punches were thrown at poor Naruto, who was a crying, bleeding mess on the floor. Some villagers were ripping his skin off with whatever sharp object they carried, all in the name of "avenging the loved ones that he killed that night." But Naruto never killed anyone, he was sure of it. So why. Why him.

The surge of emotions flooded his brain, breaking his control over his body like a river breaking through rocks. His mind went blank as a fierce chakra surfaced to the real world and shot out in waves. The chakra was malicious, but that's not what made everyone shocked. All the villagers near Naruto began to singe and dry up until they were no more than corpses lying around him. The crowd ran away as the chakra started to pulse, expanding its radius of devastation.

Anbu rush to his location, but have to jump back as their arms are singed from the sheer chakra radiating from him. It feels like a scorching heat, like a dry summer day on the top of the sun. However, Hiruzen arrives and uses a water jutsu. Naruto, still unconscious from the beatings, stops emitting the chakra and a suppression seal is placed on him.

"What have they done to you." Hiruzen whispers as he walks closer to Naruto. Suddenly, rage filled him as the Anbu assigned to guard him was no where in sight. Damn it, it was his fault that Naruto got beaten up by the villagers. He couldn't worry about that now, he needed to get Naruto medical attention and find out what that chakra was. Demonic chakra alone doesn't do those strange effects.

Hiruzen picks Naruto's body up as he body flickers way, the Anbu using a fire jutsu to burn the bodies in his wake. However, Naruto isn't quite asleep. He currently is inside his mindscape.

In the POV of the Kyubi

He was livid. Actually, livid couldn't describe how utterly furious he was. Right now, he wanted to rip the flesh off of Naruto and eat his heart for how mad he is. But why is he mad, that brat managed to use his precious scorch release chakra without permission. That was HIS chakra, HIS ability, and HIS elemental kekkei genkai. That insignificant jailer should have no right to use it, only him, the strongest of the bijuu, should even have the notion of being able to use it. Well, maybe he could rip the flesh off of the brat soon, as a humanoid figure was materializing in front of him.

Naruto's mind naturally couldn't handle all the pain and passed out. Only, he woke up in a weird place. Around him was a dark tunnel, no light source visible. The tunnel also seemed to be flooded, like a sewer. It had a cold and malicious atmosphere that made Naruto shiver for multiple reasons. And behind him, he felt as if the death god himself was there to kill him.

Naruto slowly turned around, shaking in fear. Behind him was a massive cage with thick bars and a paper that said something, he didn't know that word yet. But behind the cage, were two glowing red eyes that stared at him like a predator. Below the eyes were glistening, white fangs and promised pain to those near.

"Come a bit closer kid. Come closer so I can KILL YOU! You dare to steal my scorch release!" The voice started off as a deep whisper, but turned into an angry shout. The walls visibly shook from the pressure that the beast's killing intent produced. Naruto was on his knees crying while wave after wave of killing intent hit him like concrete blocks. Naruto even felt his skin start to rip and tear inside his mind. All he wanted was death, but he also wanted to stay away from that beast. "Help!"

Suddenly, Naruto woke up from his mindscape, still screaming and crying. His body had since healed from demonic chakra, but he could feel the phantom pain of his skin being torn from the sheer killing intent of the beast. Next to him was a worried Hiruzen who ran next to him and embraced him.

Naruto hugged him back and cried harder. The memories clear as daylight in his head. Hiruzen stops the hug and sits Naruto down and turned a serious face. "What happened." His voice was sharp with finality that only left room for an answer.

Naruto wiped his eyes and began to speak, "The angry people started to chase me. I escaped a few of them, but I ran into an alleyway and they started to hurt me. I eventually went to sleep because it hurt so bad, and I ended up in a dark sewer with a beast. The beast t-tried to kill me, but I left in time. Please, why is this happening to me."

Hiruzen was shocked at this. He never thought that Naruto would meet the Kyubi no Kitsune, the strongest of the bijuu, at only the age of 6. He regretted that he would need to tell Naruto about his burden, otherwise this weird chakra could get out of hand.

"Did the beast say anything to you of importance?"

"Yea, it was really really mad about me stealing something called scorch release? What is that?" Naruto's voice questioned, Hiruzen actually widened his eyes. Not because he knew what it was, but because he didn't. No vessel of the Kyubi had been able to use this "scorch release" before, so why did Naruto use it. Maybe it was the nature of the seal. Maybe the small amount of demonic chakra in his veins contains this scorch release. Then it hit him.

Scorch release sounded like a nature transformation. Obviously it was fire. Fire and earth made lava. Fire and water made the rebel leader, Mei's, boil release, fire and lightning was unknown, but it didn't make sense. So it had to be fire and wind. Wait, maybe Naruto's chakra nature lined up with it, then it would be confirmed. He signed to the Anbu and a few seconds later a piece of paper was brought in.

"Naruto, would you mind channeling your chakra into this piece of paper, I need to know about something." Naruto gave a quizzical look, as Hiruzen realized that he didn't know how to mold chakra. Naruto was still very young and hadn't learned about chakra and how to channel it. Fortunately, it was pretty easy since the chakra paper didn't require any sort of chakra control to use.

"Imagine sending a piece of your soul into this paper, like a portion of you as a person. Concentrate."

Naruto's eyes scrunched as he focused, then a reaction happened. The paper was cut clean in half and then both halves burned. That meant he had fire and wind nature. He would need to do research on this, but he needed Naruto to get a hold on this scorch release. If civilians or fellow shinobi were harmed because of this technique again, the council might decide to publicly execute Naruto, or something of the sorts. He also needed to be careful about Danzo, because he couldn't be trusted if he knew the potential Naruto had.

"Naruto, because of this incident, I should inform you of your burden. I need to you sit down and listen, and try to save questions for the end."

"My burden? What do you mean Gigi?"

Hiruzen sighed in regret as he responded, "On the day of your birth, the village chose you as a vessel for a great evil. The beast you saw is your burden that you carry. The being you jail is the nine tailed fox that attacked the village 6 years ago." Naruto's eyes went wide, but Hiruzen continued.

"Since the nine tailed fox cannot actually die, it had to be sealed into a newborn baby. The chosen baby was you, and the fourth Hokage gave his life to seal it into you with the hopes that you could protect the village using it's power. That is the reason the village hates you, but it is a stupid reason. Most of them think that you are the Kyubi incarnate or are being controlled by the beast, but you merely contain it from the world. Tonight, we also learned of the ability it grants you, called Scorch Release. It is a combination of nature chakra that will allow you to do untold of things. Now, both of these things must be kept a secret at all costs from your pears. Only talk about them if I am near you and give you a signal. You got that."

Naruto slowly nodded his head, shock still evident in his eyes. All the information put him into a shock. He mustered up the courage to get his brain functioning again and began to ask. "Why was I chosen to be the vessel of the Kyubi? Why not someone else?"

"There are two reasons. One is because your body is special and you have much more lifeforce than an average person, as any normal baby would die upon receiving the beast unless containing your lifeforce. The second, is that the fourth Hokage believed that you could harness it's power and protect the village. He didn't seal it in you out of spite, but out of hope that you could pave the way to the future with it's power." Naruto didn't understand much of those big words and weird phrases, but he understood the core parts and nodded.

"If I have the beast sealed inside me, why do people think I'm the beast? I don't feel like the Kyubi."

"Naruto, you aren't the Kyubi, and they believe this due to not knowing about sealing and how the process works. Most of the villagers are ignorant and believe these things to take their anger out on something, and it is horrible that it has to be you." Naruto nodded again, but he wasn't happy. He couldn't do anything to fix that about the villagers, at least not quickly. Maybe they will like him in the future.

"What is the Scorch Release that you mentioned a bunch and that the fox also mentioned? Can I use cool jutsu from it?"

Hiruzen gave a chuckle at the last part and responded, "Scorch Release is a combination of fire and wind. In simple terms, you can dry out objects or people and create very hot winds that can harm people. I think that you can become strong with it."

Naruto beamed at the last sentence and nodded vigorously. "Don't worry, I will become super strong and master this scorch release!" Hiruzen excused Naruto as he was escorted home by Anbu. The whole time, he slowly released his situation and grew sad. It dawned on him that the hatred would never stop and no one would like him. Maybe if he was the strongest in the world people would start to like him more. Yea, Naruto's goal was to become the strongest shinobi in the world and gain respect.

1 year later

Over the past year, good and bad things have happened for Naruto. Hiruzen bought Naruto several books on jutsu creation and nature release manipulation for beginners in the hope to get Naruto some progress. He nearly had to hold his eyes open and force him to read the books after resistance to anything related to books. But, the books were entertaining enough for Naruto and soon he could create slight singe marks on a leaf as well as slight tears on it. The jutsu theory was hard, but Naruto soon came to realize what each handsign did and how they molded chakra, but his chakra control was still bad. At least he could to hand signs.

Hiruzen actually did research on this scorch release and found the only ever recorded user to be deceased as of 14 years ago during the 2nd shinobi war. He left no scrolls behind about it and it seemed to be forgotten in history. Hiruzen tried combining his chakra natures of fire and wind together, but the result nearly made his arm unusable for a week. The chakra was so expansive and deadly that it was difficult to control, like trying to hold water in one hand. However, he sent his Anbu on a search for more info.

Naruto only ever made one attempt to use scorch release in that time. Hiruzen took him into the forest, and Naruto expelled the chakra from all of his tenketsu, creating a pulse of scorch that killed all the nearby trees and all small critters in a 20 ft. radius of the blonde. Naruto was exhausted after that, and they stopped. The scorch chakra seemed to have an affect on wildlife, for the negative.

As for Naruto, his situation only got so much worse. After learning about the fox, he became a lot more secluded and wary of the people around him. He never went outside to hang out with the other kids or play pranks on the village. He also became more quiet and thoughtful, but he was almost a ghost of the boy he once was. It broke Hiruzen's heart watching these changes.

The villagers now were even worse. Naruto could no longer live at his apartment after a civilian gathered exploding tags and tried to blow Naruto's apartment up. Thankfully, Naruto was away at the time. Now, the boy lived in a location on the outskirts of Konaha, in an apartment where some of his trusted Anbu lived as well. Those Anbu were there as a deterrent and as protection for him. But, Naruto still couldn't escape the villagers. When he went outside to go to Ichiraku Ramen, he would be chased if he was spotted. The average civilian carried around basic shinobi weapons in order to kill the demon if they saw him. Things were not looking up for Naruto, as he and the village grew distant and he stopped going to Ichiraku Ramen in fear. The only tie that he had left to the village, was Hiruzen. Naruto was listed as a flight risk to Konaha. But, something interesting was to happen, Naruto had the academy tomorrow.
