Chapter 35: Time to Raise Some Hell

"Can someone tell me where the hell Ruby went?" Yang asked.

It was after the last of the guests had left and the palace staff was cleaning up the courtyard. Ichigo had brought his family over, including his wife Orihime and his month-old son Kazui. Yang will admit she was one of the many girls gushing over the baby and Yasaka was giddy about having a new grandchild. In the meantime, neither Yang nor the members of the pride had noticed Kurama and Ruby go elsewhere. None of the natives of Remnant had seen Kurama and Ruby walk away.

"Where the heck did my sister go?" Yang asked.

Her answer arrived by the reappearance of Yasaka with a crystal ball in hand. There was a tired look on her face as if she put herself through a strenuous exercise. Her family's attention was on the sole crystal ball in her hands, and even Jeanne and Sieg could feel something off about it. As for Yang, her only concern was that Yasaka knew where her sister was.

"Hey, Yasaka," Yang called, getting the kitsune's attention. "Look not to be rude, but I'm just a little antsy in wondering where my sister is? You know, right? Please tell me you know."

"My, you are as much of a mother hen as Ruby said you are," Yasaka tittered at Yang's worry. "Not that it's a bad thing. It's cute even. And to answer your question, let's say Kurama took Ruby aside for a spectacle."

"...I feel oddly nervous about what's to come," Yang replied.

Yasaka had a knowing smirk on her face and gestured for everyone to come over. Soon, Yasaka's family and Ruby's pride surrounded the golden kitsune with their eyes trained on the crystal ball. Currently, the interior was still cloudy, but ever so slowly it was fading away. Kushina perked up getting an idea of the device.

"You set up a Mirror Realm?" Kushina asked.

"What's a Mirror Realm?" Yang wondered.

"A history lesson, if you will," Yasaka proposed, and the answering silence allowed her to continue. "In ages past, it was not uncommon for gods and other such powerful being to clash for land, influence, power, or whatever squabbles they wanted. Most notable is the rivalry between Amaterasu and Susano, or Sun Wukong's little misadventures against the Jade Court. Whatever the case, it's important to know that these clashes between such massive powers are guaranteed to reshape the land in its entirety. Mountain ranges that have stood for countless eras may crumble, lakes evaporating in an instant, the earth splitting apart, or the seas raging to the point of flooding the land. Or in the worst-case scenario, such a fight will doom the very world as dimensional barriers become undone and the earth collapses."

"When you say 'the earth' collapses, do you mean...?" Blake asked tentatively.

"As in this floating rock within the universe simply goes poof in a fiery display," Yasaka said with a titter in contrast to the paling faces around her. "Take in mind there are individuals that can end the world. Look at the Hindu pantheon and no further than the Triumvirate, whose gods govern the cycle of creation, preservation, and destruction. In fact, it was much worse long ago before humans created their civilizations. When the world was ruled by primordial forces such as Abzu, Gaia, Ouranos, Ymir, and Olorun. Even before Christianity was a thing. Then imagine those primordial forces fighting against each other to lay claim to the land. They were reshaping the world as much as they battled.

"But then you look back two thousand years and everything started to change right after Christ was pierced by the spear that would become the first Sacred Gear - the True Longinus. Sacred Gears, like the Boosted Gear, were created by the Biblical God for humanity and then came the birth of those who were more powerful than the norm. Such as in the case of devils that birthed Sirzechs, a devil that transcended the limits of his own kind to rival the most powerful primordial and gods. Or, my own husband Kurama, a kitsune Yokai that was born with tremendous chakra and growing into the warrior that ruled the eastern hemisphere. Even humans like Arthur Pendragon or Lu Bu weren't exempt from this list of these beings being born and possessing power far beyond their peers.

"It's individuals like Kurama, Sirzechs, and the Heavenly Dragons that started a new change of perspective. Here were these new people that suddenly grew to possess powers to level the world before they were even a thousand years old. And you don't even have to look at those powerhouses and simply look at those like Serafall Leviathan. Two thousand years ago, only the original Satans had the power amongst their kind to level continents with ease. Still, that notion was erased by Serafall ascending to that level of power herself and that goes along with her peers. So yes, while the devil race has been reduced to a shadow of their population, their overall power is unchanged with the likes of Serafall, Ajuka, and Sirzechs earning the mantles of their predecessors. Now put that to a scale to every faction around the globe and there was a problem. There were just too many powerful individuals, all acting as deterrents against open warfare that would doom us all.

"And so an alternative was made instead. For the first time, every known creation god as well as the greatest mystical minds in the world banded together in creating a realm that would mirror the dimension as we know it minus any sentient life. A realm void of life and self-regenerating where every faction can pit their greatest fighters to 'settle their disputes' that would normally inflict irreparable damage to the world. Or in some cases test the full extent of their powers without endangering the planet."

"Uh, so let me get this right?" Weiss asked, tense from Yasaka's long-winded explanation that left a constant dread within her. "You, as in the entire supernatural, created a self-repairing dimension so you could fight there because you were afraid of destroying the planet."

"Yes," Yasaka replied all too normally. "It actually proved itself when Kurama and Sirzechs fought. Their battle completely decimated the world in the mirror dimension. All the more why we needed to create it."

"I'm afraid to ask, but how does tie into why Kurama and Ruby?" Jeanne d'Arc asked.

"The virtue to use the Mirror Realm only belongs to those whose power is recognized by the world at large," Yasaka said. "That of course includes my husband, but also the Satans, Cadre, Archangels, and the major gods like Hades, Thor, the first Buddha, the Jade Court, and the Triumvirate. And for these two, the Mirror Realm is very much needed for Ruby's latest scuffle. It would be dangerous otherwise to do it here..."

The crystal orb was finally fully clear, allowing them all to see the image that played out. What they were greeted with was the image of Ruby and Kurama facing off in an open field. Ruby's pride blinked in confusion while looks of realization dawned on Yasaka's children.

"...for what they call training spar, for beings like Kurama and Ruby fighting against each other, it is hell let loose on Earth."

(Within the Mirror Realm; Ruby vs Kurama)

(Cue "Asura's Wrath - Symphony No.9 in E Minor")

Ruby hated the Mirror Realm. It was always too quiet. There was not even the flap of a bird's wings or the cry of insects in the bushes. The only sound in this alternate world was the whistling wind in this world washed in shades of gray.

But nothing could settle down the excitement coursing through her body. Not when she was staring down at one of the most powerful individuals in her life that she was going to fight. Even in the knowledge that she had no chance of winning, her dragon blood pumped something fierce at the prospect to challenge such a strong foe. She couldn't hold down the maniac smile almost splitting her face in two and showing off teeth elongated and sharpened. Her fingers twitched as her nails switched to claws and vice versa. Scales grew and shrank across her pale 'skin' like ripples. From Ruby's back emerged her wings, spines, and tail to their full majesty with the latter sporting sharp spines with a bladed end. Anymore and Ruby couldn't help herself going full dragon.

The only thing better was to fight an opponent equal in strength. It would be like a betting game, but for keeps.

"This will do," Kurama said smirking, his arms crossed in front of him. "It's just you and me. Time to raise some hell!"

Evidently, Japan's strongest was also pumped up as well. Who could blame him? He was about to fight one of his most promising students to date after so long, eager to force out more of her potential. Kurama wanted to see if there was power within Ruby that can rival him or may even surpass him.

"Now that I think about it," Kurama mused, "the last time we fought like this, you were still my pupil."

Ruby did not launch as she exploded forth in a streak of wild motion. She opened up with her strongest blow; a wide kick hefted with all the raw power she could put in. Lightning crackled across her body and rose-colored flames licked off her lips. Kurama did not bother to dodge. There was no need to.

When Ruby's blow connected, the shockwave cracked like thunder and was strong enough to upend the earth for over fifty meters. Yet Kurama's head did not even budge. In fact, the kitsune smirked mockingly at the blow treating it like a gust of wind. His arms unwound to swat Ruby off her balance making her twirl in midair before landing a haymaker on her face that was many times more than the blow she tried to deliver.

She was sent off with a sonic boom across the landscape, skipping over grasslands like a stone over a pond. She crashed through the many trees and rocks in her way before finally, her body crashed into the side of a plateau. Cracks ran up all the way to the top with Ruby buried deep within the rock.

(Real World)

"The hell?" Yang exclaimed in surprise, which was shared by her peers from Remnant.

The blonde had seen a lot in her life. Guys that were too drunk to walk out of a bar, and even lesbian couples doing the dirty dance in alleyways. She also knew a lot of things. Most importantly how ungodly strong Ruby was. She had seen her cousin crack boulders five times her size with a love tap and lift absurd weights at Beacon's gym meant for strength-based Semblance users.

So to see what was Ruby's strongest blow not even budging Kurama was a jaw-dropping sight to see. Almost as much as the counter Kurama delivered and burying Ruby into the side of a plateau.

"Fu-fu-fu, don't act so surprised," Yasaka chittered. "This is my Kurama. The one who surpassed the very Shinto Gods themselves. Ruby may have made strides in her strength, but it is enough. Let her Boosted Gear empower as much as she wants, it won't matter.

"This fight was never about winning. It was about what potential Kurama can pull out of Ruby before she passes out."

Neither of Ruby's pride said anything and put their attention back to the crystal ball when it was emitting a familiar crimson glow.

(Mirror Realm)

"Welsh Balance Breaker - Scail Mail!"

The rubble Ruby was buried under rumbled and a crimson light seeped through the gaps. An increasing hum of energy filled the air before it reached a crescendo of the rocks being blasted away in a burst of red flames and bloody lightning. In the center of this destructive storm stood Ruby in her Balance Breaker, her wings spread out to their full span and the green gems littering the Sacred Gear armor giving a bright glow. Red aura burned off Ruby's body with the occasional crackle of electricity. Her helmet concealed her face leaving the impression of gleaming emerald eyes. Beneath the helm, Ruby showed her maw filled with fully grown fangs turned into a snarl ready for battle. Underneath all the armor, her pale skin was quickly overtaken by crimson scales.

All Kurama did was wiggle a finger curling towards himself.

Ruby answered with a berserker roar, rushing down the distance between them like a missile. Jet engines on her shoulders and back blasted out pure draconic energy to propel her forward. Wherever she passed, the ground and surrounding trees gave way to her in a path of destruction. Once Kurama was in her reach, she threw a rocket-enhanced fist encased in crimson flames to his face.

Something else stood in the way of the blow instead. What stopped her fist powered by a freshly released Balance Breaker of the Boosted Gear were only three fingers from Kurama's right palm.

"I figure three fingers is enough for you," Kurama said in a mockingly bored tone.

Growling, Ruby threw more punches along with swipes, kicks, and jabs. All of them launched in a storm of motion and each blow carried [BOOST] that exponentially increased Ruby's power with each cry. Yet it was all the same for Kurama blocking all those blows with three fingers, even as the crater at their feet widened more and more.

"I'm getting bored here," Kurama said with a yawn. "C'mon, where is that explosive flair you showed against Fatalis?"

"You want explosive, FINE!" Ruby roared.

She disengaged by back peddling away while simultaneously filling her lungs with Ddraig's flames. Red flames flickered from her maw like an overworked furnace and the air around heated up to scorching temperatures. Her cheeks started to puff, forcing her to close her mouth with smoke rising from her nostrils.

"Rose Dragon's Roar!"

It finally climaxed in a massive roar that unleashed a flood of red flames. Yet Kurama simply stood there, not needing to dodge. His massive powers of chakra expressed into the air around him like pressure, making the flames flow around him. He stood unharmed, even as the flames reduced rock, tree, and earth into ash and dust for hundreds of meters till they flowed up the side of a mountain scorching it permanently black.

His very aura was preventing Ddraig's flames from even touching him. But Ruby was not deterred from pursuing her next course of action. This time, crackles of bloody lightning joined the flames. From her tail emerged a hum of energy following a subtle glow rising up her back and igniting her spines. Fire and lightning danced at her open maw.

"Thundering Rose Dragon's Roar."

Fire and lightning were joined together in a roar to level down a whole mountain flat. It came in a tidal wave threatening to drown the land in destruction. Seeing it encroach upon him like a beast, all Kurama gave was a wider stare.

"Hmph, better," Kurama said, raising one palm in the air. "Guess I can stretch now."

From his palm, chakra emerged of such density and gathered into a black orb of the same size. As more chakra was added, white rings were added around the orb, giving it the impression of a planet and its satellite rings. The bloody lightning and flames were just upon him and his response...

"Spiralling Ring."

...was to simply toss it forward. As soon as the chakra construct impacted the wave of destruction, it burst into a dome of immense pressure. The momentum of Ruby's attack was suddenly sucked into the dome of white chakra as if sucking it all up like a black hole. This singularity continued onward, crossing the distance to where Ruby's known position was. And then, it reached a crescendo and the whole world turned white.

When the light dimmed down and the ashes were settled, the lush land that served as their arena was turned to flat wastelands for only as far as the eyes could meet. The only thing left alone by the spiraling ring's destruction was the coast and the many mountains in the distance. This type of might was equal to the destruction of an entire city, and it was only one of Kurama's basic attacks.

A rumble in the ground drew Kurama's attention, just in time to lean back from an armored fist freshly sprouted from the ground. The kitsune grabbed the limb and pulled up Ruby like a freshly picked vegetable. She had not gone unscathed from the explosions. Parts of her Balance Breaker were chipped here and there, revealing her upper torso, shoulders, mouth, and pelvis. It was because of that he could see the defiant snarl etched on her face.

Before he could get a word in, she swung a lightning-coated leg from the right side. That was blocked not by an arm, but by one of Kurama's nine tails. Despite it being a furry appendage, it did not budge under Ruby's blow. Kurama gave him a look, but they widened when a new appendage tried an attack on him. From above, Ruby's tail struck like a scorpion's sting thrusting forth a razor-sharp point. The kitsune tilted his head out of the way and caught the stretched-out limb with his left hand, but not without receiving a bleeding cut across his cheek.

"You cut me," Kurama noted with a hint of surprise. "Maybe you didn't slack off after all these years."

Then Ruby felt her world swirl around as Kurama hefted the dragoness by the tail. He bashed over and over on the ground like a ragdoll, kicking up clouds of ash on impact. His grip was insurmountable, even as Ruby continued to boost her power to somehow force herself out. It only managed to give her the defense she needed to weather the onslaught without her bones breaking. In the end, she lifted her head up to face Kurama while in mid-swing, only to interrupt him by breathing out an inferno.

The heat was enough to make Kurama loosen his hold and allow Ruby to retreat back. But now she knew it was only about to get harder. She was right to cross her arms to block a powerful punch from Kurama leaping out of the flames. Even when Ruby breathed such hot flames at point blank rage, she only managed to light singe the kitsune's hair. Any burns visible on his skin were quickly healing away.

While she did block the punch, it was just barely able to hold up. Her arms shook to the bone, and the armor of her Balance Breaker cracked harshly on impact. Another blow came in the form of a kick to her abdominal sides, pain shooting up from her organs almost being crushed. Her footing was compromised, which allowed Kurama to follow up with a spin kick to Ruby's left flank. The crimson armor of her Balance Breaker completely shattered on impact, leaving almost half of her body exposed.

She was sent careening off to the side like a twig in a tornado until she clawed her hand into the ground to anchor herself. Her head lifted up showing her revealed eye to be twitching and her mouth barred in a snarl. There was almost none of her pink skin in comparison to the crimson scales. Ruby went on all fours with claws gleaming in the light, wings outstretched, and tail wagging dangerously above her.

"This isn't cutting it yet," Kurama said, casually approaching the Red Dragon Empress. "I need to see all that you can dish out."

"Fine," Ruby snarled.

At that moment, Ruby forced down the lust of battle and centered herself on a calm peace. While the Mirror Realm may be a copy without life, it was a copy in every other important aspect. Most importantly, that was Senjutsu, and with the lack of humanity, it was far easier to gather the necessary energy. Kurama watched as rivers of green motes of light gathered into Ruby's body, creating a green glow to add to her crimson aura. Tattoos formed around her face and were put into a calm disposition instead of the feral battle facade she had earlier.

This was Ruby Rose at her current peak as the Red Dragon Empress.

[BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST, BOOST]

With each cry from the Boosted Gear, Ruby's power continued to intensify as well as the strain. It was keeping her full concentration to keep the raw instinct of her draconian side back. While the Senjutsu helped, the mental strain continued to increase with her boost in draconic power. As for Kurama, he merely closed his eyes and opened them again to reveal they changed with a trio of tomoe spinning in each eye.

No words were said, only the sonic boom of Ruby's lunge. Lightning and fire coated each arm and leg, all thrown in a flurry upon Kurama. The kitsune's reflexes matched her speed and power, making every blow glance from any clear impact. Undeterred, Ruby threw up a knee that Kurama caught in both hands, but his surprise was found when he felt his feet leave the ground. It was the small opening she needed to unleash a breath of a destructive marriage between bloody lightning and fire.

For the first time, Kurama scowled at the incoming blast. He shielded his face with his arms and even brought out his tails in front of himself before he was practically flooded by the violent elements. The force alone sent him higher in the air as if carrying him, and while his great chakra offered some form of protection it was only so much before his own clothing started to wither from the constant assault.

He took his own deep breath and then exhaled a great breakthrough of wind empowered by chakra to dispel the breath attack around him. Unfortunately for him, Ruby was not done after the spectacle of the dragon's breath. She had flown in her own attack as a way to cover her approach. So when Kurama used a breath of wind to get himself some breathing room it was only to find Ruby in arm's reach.

Clawed hands latched onto his shoulders and pulled. Kurama saw it coming, but there was no stopping it. Then came the pain of not a headbutt, but a pair of horns hammering onto his own skull. For a moment, the kitsune's world shook from the effects of a fresh concussion. While his body healed the damage, his own senses were dulled from the blow.

'To think she got that kind of blow on me,' Kurama absently thought. 'Perhaps I've gotten rusty.'

Despite the thought, it couldn't quell the sense of pride he had in the once tiny tike he decided to teach.

He felt unusual heat on his torso. Looking down, Kurama saw Ruby extend her hands towards his chest where her hands cupped a green orb of pure draconic energy. Kurama only had time to see Ruby's devious smirk.

"Dragon Shot."

Kurama felt himself now plummeting down to the ground by the green orb dragging him down. When his body reached the ground, the orb exploded into a bright dome of green energy, sending up more ash to cloud the area. Yet Ruby had more in store; the Dragon Shot served as a means for a follow-up for something with a bit more kick to it that needed more preparation. With her wings keeping her up in the air, she spread out her arms and flowed her magics into her palms.

"With bloody lightning in my left hand..."

By her cue, lightning surged thickly in the open palm. The air sizzled and screamed at the raw plasma fueled by magical might, and the sky lit up in its demanding light. Such power burst out and all Ruby needed to keep it in control was to grasp it in her fingers.

"And crimson flames in my right hand..."

Mirroring her other limb, Ruby's right palm ignited in Ddraig's flames. They threatened to claw out and destroy whatever they pleased, only leashed by Ruby's hand tightening their grip. Now, the Red Dragon Empress held two of the most destructive elements in the world at their most intense level each in her hands. Then she clapped those hands together to force those two powers together in her grasp. Her arms trembled as the violent energies demanded to be unleashed, but Ruby's control won out forcing them to spin and grind till they formed a ball. Ruby raised her hands above her hand where she allowed the ball to grow into a sphere five times her size, its light akin to another sun.

"Put them together and what do you get?" Ruby intoned. "Thunder Rose Dragon's Cataclysmic Devastation!"

The sphere of destruction was thrown down on Kurama's location. What followed next was only the reaction to the deafening boom and the shockwave that shifted the clouds apart. It was a force only a tactical nuke could match. From the impact, sight arose a mushroom cloud of hot smoke and ash, yet Ruby was unperturbed by the fallout she wrought.

Suddenly, her danger senses were on alert. Within the cloud of ash, huge shadows started to sway through the dark cloud. She felt the air grow heavier almost threatening to ground her to the earth. Ruby acted before she saw, willing the jet engines of her Sacred Gear to propel her away just before a massive blade cut down the area between her and split the cloud of ash in two. Massive shadows unraveled to blow away, revealing the massive sight before her.

Towering over valleys and wielding such a feral aura was Kurama in his most natural state as a giant kitsune Yokai. Crimson fur covered his massive frame and his digits ended with claws greater than Ruby's own size. A canine mouth stretched its lips revealing rows of teeth each capable of impaling Ruby. Familiar crimson eyes now bigger than Ruby's body stared down at the small figure in sadistic glee. Behind him, massive nine furry tails waved in the sky casting ominous shadows stretching for leagues.

Yet it was not the size of the transformation that put Ruby to pause. It was the spectral blue chakra that armored Kurama's whole bulk in a likeness to samurai. It included scaled armor along his arms, torso, and legs, and provided a horned helmet around the fox's head. His front hands were even more deadly now brandishing a pair of blades big enough to slice through a mountain. Ruby knew enough that those blades swung by Kurama could do a lot more damage than that. But what unnerved Ruby the most were Kurama's eyes that then shifted from its crimson glow to a purple with six concentric rings and nine tomoe.

"A good attack," Kurama complimented, his voice akin to thunder and heard for miles around. "But playtime is over."

Kurama swung one of the large blades of chakra with a speed that should have not been possible with such colossal size. Ruby managed to see it in time to flip herself over it, but then came another in a downward stroke forcing her to beat her wings to get out the way. Looking back at the swing, she watched as the force in it continued carving a line through the land, splitting mountains in its way, and continued till the shoreline at the other side of this copied land of Japan. The winds were picked up from the shockwave and made Ruby toss around in the air uncontrollably and made the air spin all around her. That is until a massive fist slammed her down to the earth in a crater of her own shape.

The dragoness climbed herself out of the hole, just to blanch at the sight of an uncountable number of Spiralling Rings forming around Kurama by his will. She didn't waste time ascending in the air as they stormed toward her. As Ruby blazed a crimson trail as she went, massive explosions followed her from the Spiralling Rings homing on her. Mountains crumbled from stray shots and craters capable of swallowing all blocks littered the ground where they missed. It was taking all of Ruby's speed to avoid a direct hit.

But it also served to distract Ruby from the true machinations of Kurama, whose eyes never left her. Those eyes of his gave a flash and the air around Ruby suddenly froze in a flash. Ruby while stuck in ice was completely halted in her momentum, allowing a Spiralling Ring's explosion to blast her away. More pieces of her Balance Breaker broke off and even some of her scales were chipping off leaving blood.

Her momentum was again stopped, this time by an invisible grip that seized her entire body. Ruby managed to open her eye to meet the stare of Kurama with a wicked grin across his face.

"Doesn't this feel like old times, Ruby?" Kurama mused. "Me beating the shit out of you to force more of that power of yours to the surface. Though I gotta first get you to your prime limit! How about this for a change?"

Those eyes of his gave an ominous flash before Kurama intoned.

"Almighty Push."

Ruby wasn't pushed by a blast of force. No, she was sent rocketing away by gravity turned against her by a hundred times its usual pull. The sheer G force made Ruby exclaim in her flight that sent her miles across the land, occasionally going right through mountains like a bullet going through thin wood. It only started to subside after the last plateau she crashed through and in a burst of her own energy Ruby managed to right herself levitating over a shore. She would have questioned how she had managed to get this far, but it was hard to think straight by what was probably a couple of broken ribs and an arm.

"I... I'm okay..." Ruby groaned. "I'mma... I'mmmmaaahhh... fuuuuuuu..."

[RESET]

The cry from the Boosted Gear signaled Ruby's loss of grip on her power and all she felt was the overwhelming exhaustion. Her wings slumped, her eyes drooped, and that was all she wrote as she unceremoniously dropped into the water. The rolling seas took her body, making it sink ever so slowly into its dark depths. Ruby could not muster the strength to fight against the pull on her body.

[Is that really how you are going to let this go?] Ddraig said.

"Too... tired..." Ruby replied weakly.

[That is not an excuse.] Ddraig argued. [You are a dragon. Born a human with a human soul, but now a dragon's power and body. Dragon's blood - my blood - flows in your veins. You cannot accept such a defeat like this.

[So I am telling you this. Stop playing around. Step aside and let arise the beast you are. Kurama challenged a dragon, so show him what it means to challenge a dragon!]

The words resonated with a deep part of Ruby's heart. Something that she kept chained down, never unleashing it to its full capacities. But now those chains were shattered. A dragon's roar reached her ears followed by the drum of blood flooding through her ears. Silver eyes opened, no semblance of humanity in their reptilian visage.

(Cue "Godzilla KOTM - Rebirth")

From Kurama's perspective, he saw the waters where Ruby sunk in start to swirl. From the center of the phenomenon, red light glowed softly but steadily rising in brightness. Above, the sky roiled into a slowly building maelstrom brought up by a massive spike of static in the air. The waters continued to roil and grow in size, suggesting that something massive was coming up to the surface.

The first that surfaced were the spines, golden in luster yet each standing taller than a human with the tallest being almost two stories high. They topped the back of an enormous reptilian body covered in bright red scales and rippling with powerful muscles. Folded wings flanked this raw of spines going all the way down to a large tail of proportional size with the spines thickening and lengthening into a blade-like tip big enough to slice through a skyscraper.

Massive clawed hands big enough to grasp trucks surfaced and clung to the shore. Each had five digits ending with golden claws of the same color. Muscles bulged on the limbs capable of crushing through whatever material like wet paper. On the elbows, a bone jutted out of the same gold color.

Finally, the head arose from the sea, revealing that of a dragon colored crimson red. The maw was littered with razor-sharp teeth to mince meat and crunch steel in one bite, and big enough to swallow a boat. On top of the head was a pair of majestic golden horns growing from just above the brow and angling towards the back where it ended in a sharp point. Scaled eyelids opened revealing pure silver eyes staring out into the world.

Energy hummed from its body as the spines began flashing crimson red. The dragon lifted her head up, and Ruby Rose let out a shrill roar whilst breathing out a cone of pure plasma to the stormy sky. It was a cry of defiant challenge, one Kurama met with crazy glee.

"Now that's more like it!"

This ends the first part of the fight between Kurama and Ruby. The Red Dragon Empress had no hold barred, having brought out her true dragon form in its majestic glory. Now, it's only a matter of the copied Earth of the Mirrored Realm will still be intact from the destruction they shall wreak.

Up next is Chapter 36.
