Hello again friends! You'll be happy to know that with the posting of this chapter, I've finished chapter four and I just wanted to prepare you guys, this fic is rated M because these guys are sixteen now and as we saw in the show, sixteen is when a lot of teens start exploring more adult things and feelings.
To the guest reviewer, I did intend for the first few chapters to stick pretty close to the show, as the story grows so will the characters and the ways things differ from the show.
I do not own Glee or any of it's characters.
Enjoy!
Rachel felt like she was going to explode. She knew she had feelings for Quinn, but new feelings had surfaced for the girl about a year ago. These feelings were unfamiliar, but welcomed. It all started with that damn Cheerios uniform. Did the skirts really have to be that short? It wasn't uncommon for her to catch herself staring at Quinn's legs and imagining running her hands up and down them. Of course she reminded herself that Quinn was more than a pair of legs, she was a human being, however she was the human being Rachel was still horribly and undeniably in love with.
This was Quinn's fault. Rachel had been standing at her locker, minding her own business when the head cheerleader had walked up to her boyfriend. Why did Finn's locker have to be so close to hers?
She had idly eavesdropped, listening as Quinn talked about how she and Finn were lined up to be the most popular students for the next couple of years. This bothered Rachel a bit, the thought of Quinn being romantic with him for years? Rachel couldn't stop herself from imagining she was in Finn's place.
She could see herself being high school sweethearts with Quinn, going on dates to breadsticks, being prom queens together, eventually graduating together and moving to New York to get married and start their careers. She had been lost in these thoughts until she heard the fatal words leave Quinn's mouth.
"If you quit the club, I'll let you touch my breast."
Rachel's mind immediately went to many different places. Flashes of her hands on Quinn's skin and her lips on the other girls ran through her brain. Rachel swore the temperature in the hallway had become ten degrees hotter. Was she sweating?
Finn's response of "Under the shirt?" and Quinn's answer of "Over the bra" did nothing but fuel her imagination further. Finn seemed to be living out her dream life.
She was shocked when she heard him turn Quinn down, she almost wanted to turn around and ask him how he could turn down such an opportunity, but one, that was creepy, and two, she couldn't let Quinn know she was still in love with her. Yes she had found the note Rachel kept, but that couldn't confirm anything other than she hadn't cleaned it out of her locker yet. If Quinn knew, she might try to make Rachel's life even more of a living hell than she had already done over the past two years.
The couple argued for a few more moments over their reputation before Quinn excused himself and walked away from the blond girl. Rachel hid her face in her locker, hoping to make herself as invisible as possible, but that didn't seem to stop the blond girl from noticing her.
"Eavesdrop much?" She had asked, very loudly. Rachel felt her heart speed up as she turned to Quinn who was stepping close to her. She got so close that Rachel could smell the perfume and shampoo on her ex-girlfriend. She could feel Quinn's breath on her face and now she felt like she needed to kiss Quinn or she was going to explode.
"Time for some girl talk, man hands."
Just like that, the feeling was gone. Quinn continued on telling Rachel that she could never have Finn and Rachel fought to roll her eyes.
"Quinn stop," Quinn looked shocked that the smaller girl had interrupted her, "I understand why you would be threatened, but I don't want Finn, so if you think there is a connection, don't be worried, his voice just flatters mine." Rachel smirked at the confused face Quinn wore, "Besides, I'm an honorable person, I don't need to steal your man, I have plenty of suitors of my own."
"Liar," she thought to herself, she didn't have any suitors, well unless you counted Jacob, but she didn't think of him as so much of a suitor, more that he was just a creep.
Quinn's face seemed to change again as she pursed her lips and there was a flash of something Rachel believed she knew quite well from her own face, but she couldn't be sure. Was Quinn jealous?
She began to walk away telling Quinn that Glee's status was going up and that, hers was going down. She turned around feeling as if she had finally won a match with Quinn when the sensation of cold once again met her face.
Once again a good facial slushie had brought her down to earth and if that one hadn't the second one definitely did. They didn't bother her as much as all the laughter that followed, more importantly, Quinn's laughter.
Of course she hadn't won this round, Quinn would always win. That's how things were now. Quinn would always be at the top, taunting her about how she was at the bottom.
Rachel refused to look back at Quinn as she made her way to the bathroom to clean up before Glee club.
When she was finished with Glee club, she exited the room with a smile on her face, one that quickly fell when she saw Quinn and some other girls snickering, at least she had been laughing with them until one of the girls had looked at Rachel and mumbled a sentence with the word fat in it. Quinn's face seemed to drop, but none of them seemed to notice.
Rachel looked down at herself and made a decision she knew she was going to regret.
Ms. Pilsbary had found her hunched over the toilet trying to make herself throw up. She had taken her to her office and tried to talk to her about the dangers of bulimia and asking her why she would turn to this. She had told her she wanted to be prettier like Quinn, which wasn't truly a lie. Maybe if she was prettier Quinn would have taken the risk to stay with her.
She moved on with some of the truth, "Have you ever liked someone so much you just want to lock yourself in your room, turn on sad music and cry?" She had done this many times since starting high school. Her dads had told her that there would be someone who loved her and that eventually she would move past Quinn, but that hadn't happened yet, and she was starting to wonder if it ever would.
Ms. Pilsbary did her best, but none of the advice she gave Rachel was going to work on Quinn, she knew what Quinn liked or at least she used to. She couldn't get close enough to Quinn to learn what she liked now. Then it hit her like a lightbulb, the celibacy club, Quinn was running that. She could join the celibacy club.
Later that day, she found herself doing just that. She sat completely isolated from the rest of the club and sitting right across from Quinn Fabrey herself who had already started to berate her. She did her best to ignore Quinn, and looked around the room, it seemed empty even for a celibacy club. Then it hit her and for a moment she was confused, this couldn't just be girls could it?
"Where are all the boys?" That must have been the wrong question, Quinn's face screwed up with that same look from earlier and she snapped that everyone was separated for the first half of the club meeting and the second half they came together to discuss faith. Great, she had been there for all of ten minutes and already she was pissing Quinn off, this plan was off to a bad start.
She stayed quiet and still when the girls stood up and talked about their power modo. When the girls started to dance Rachel had to turn her head to keep her eyes off Quinn. She had expected to stay this way the whole meeting, what she hadn't expected was that when they boys came in she would be paired with Jacob.
He made a disgusting comment about being entranced by her. That along with her watching Quinn pair up with Finn and look so damn happy about it was all she could take. She ripped herself away from Jacob at the same time the balloon popped between Finn and Quinn. She had scolded him and he had come up with some excuse about his zipper catching on the balloon. This was the man that had stolen Quinn's heart? "God what does that say about me?"
"This is ridiculous!" Quinn looked at her with shock at her outburst, Rachel tried not to meet her gaze as she looked around the room and spouted off the statistics of protection and teenage celibacy, which of course pissed Quinn off even more.
When she left, she spent the rest of the day trying to avoid the girl and trying to ignore the new songs Mr. Shue said they had to sing now after he told her it had been all her fault. Finally, she had told him he was right, she was done with this conversation, but before she left she asked him if she could use the auditorium.
As she made her way, there was one song on her mind and when she sang "Take a bow" she thought of all the time that had passed between her and Quinn, all of the good and all of the bad, the proclaiming of marriage and watching Finn stroke Quinn's face. Watching her smile as he did it. How could she have believed that Quinn would always be hers?
