Chapter 3: Operation Wonderful Sight
3rd Person POV:
It is 4 in the morning and Hikigaya is in their kitchen, he wears a green sweatpants and seems to be catching his breath.
"A s-spider h-head... Check, a p-pair of... butterfly w-wing... C-Check, a branch from a Sakura tree... Check... Ahhugh, damn that dog, chasing me around, a-alerting the patrolling police" he said with deep breaths between words.
In there table lies different kinds of objects and items, it seems like Hikigaya has been collecting the parts for his sentry drone around the neighborhood.
"Ok, that is the last parts needed to make the sentry drone, I'll just have to put some preservation magic in the organic parts and we're set to go,... Now time to catch some sleep" he then putted the things he had collected into a small paper bag then grabbed it with the intent of bringing it to his room, satisfied, he turned around to go back to his room only to see her sister wearing a blue sweatpants.
"Onii-chan, what are you doing?" his sister asked.
"Nothing important Komachi" Hikigaya said with a poker face.
Komachi took a step forward towards her brother, then asked "Everyone has their own things they consider important and not important Onii-chan, and we both know that sleeping is the most important thing for you" Komachi stated.
Hikigaya's poker face slightly crumbles.
Hikigaya POV:
"So Onii-chan, what's something you are doing in the middle of the night that is more important than sleep?" my little sister asked.
"I-i could say the same to you Komachi" I answered.
"I'm here for a midnight snack"
"Ohh y-yeah me too, I'm here for a midnight snack.."
My sister took another step forward then looked at me like an inspector finding clues in a criminal case.
"If you are really here for a midnight snack, that means the paper bag you're holding right now contains your food right?" she asked.
"O-of course t-this paper bag contains food Komachi, what else?" but my answer doesn't seem to satisfy my nosy sister.
"For reals? You're not doing something with your magic aren't you?" how is she this good at predicting me?
"Of course I wouldn't abuse my magic, trust me Komachi" I answered.
"Eat what's inside then" What?
"What are you talking about Komachi?"
"You asked me trust you right? You said that paper bag contains food so eat it here, if you lie with this little things, how can I trust you O-NII-CHAN?"... She knows that there's no food here huh...
She is looking at me with a smile... Ohh you little devilish but also cute demon!
" K-Komachi, if I successfully eaten what's inside of this paper bag, you'll trust me that I won't abuse my magic powers right? You'll stop questioning my questionable acts at night right?" in my years of living in this house I learned that our walls aren't thick enough to completely negate the sound coming from our rooms.
" Right... I feel like I'll still get the shorter end of the stick here even if I win but ok, I won't pry into things you do IF there is really food in that paper bag, and since you said that everything in that paper bag is food, you'll have to eat the first thing you grab OK?" my sister said, ohh Komachi, you're starting to look like mom when she suspects me of harboring ecchi manga!
"OK, but if I fail to eat the REAL food in this paper bag, what will you do?" I've got to know the risks, is the risk worth taking for peeking? My sister suddenly smiled at me, and it's not a cute looking one. GULP.
"Ohh... I'll just shout that you pay me so I'll ride your bike whenever you drop me off to school for a whole week!" Ahh, that's it? You'll just tarnish my already bad reputation? I've been dropping you off to school since you started middle school Komachi, I'm sure everyone there already think that way my little sister... I'll take this risk.
"Ok Komachi, here I go" my hand entered the paper bag, a 100% of the things in this bag is edible, but only around 5% of the things here is what I can stomach, but thats means I only have 5% of getting something I can stomach! That's a risk I'm willing to take, I'm a gatcha player after all.
I grabbed something... I took out my hand from the bag only to see a dead CATERPILLAR IN MY PALM? Curse you gatcha gods!
"Oh no Onii-chan! Thats is not food! Looks like a win for me!" Ohh no, not yet imouto!
"Anything is food if you can eat it Komachi..." I'LL EAT THIS!
"Ok then, eat it Onii-chan" Komachi challenged me.
I threw the dead caterpillar in my mouth, there's no way I'll chew this!
As if she can read my mind, Komachi said "You'll have to chew it Onii-chan, or I'll not count this as valid food" As much as I want to retort, I know that when I open my mouth I'll spit out this dead insect in my mouth.

I chewed it 3 times then opened my mouth to show Komachi that I ate the dead caterpillar.
"You really ate it Onii-chan... You're scarring me for real here so I'll stop bugging you for a week to forget this sight" she has disgusted look on her.
"But for reals Onii-chan, what is this thing you're doing that's more important to your beloved sleeping and human decency?" its peeking Komachi, but there's no way I'll say it to you.
"Oh look Komachi!" I pointed at our clock "It's already 4:50 am! We only have an hour and a half to sleep before getting ready for school!" I said as I run to my room. OK Komachi, my biggest threat is leaving me alone for a week! It's sad that she'll ignore me for a week but that's also a sacrifice I'm willing to take! Escalator to Adulthood here I come!
TIME SKIP: At lunch in Sobu.
3rd Person POV:
Hikigaya and Zaimokuza is in the rooftop again.
Hikigaya asked Zaimokuza "Oi Zaimokuza, can you go down and find me a caterpillar? We need it to build the sentry"
"Why? I thought you can handle the parts gathering by yourself?"
"I did accuired one, but I ate it.."
"What? Why? You know what? I'm not even going to ask" He said as he run out of the rooftops.
Hikigaya then wrote a magic circle in the floor, then threw the paper bag full of weird things as parts of the sentry into the magic circle, now he just have to wait for Zaimokuza bringing a caterpillar.
"Uhh are you still planning to peek at the girls?" a feminine voice asked.
Hikigaya is surprised by the voice, he panicked and quickly erased the magic circle, he then turned to look at the source of the voice.
A very cute white haired girl that is wearing a boy's uniform?
Hikigaya POV:
"W-Who said about peeking?" I answered.
"I heard you and your friend talking about it yesterday" she heard us? Is she gonna snitch us? With my and Zaimokuza's looks, the teachers gonna believe her if she did snitch us! I can only erase recently added memories! Her memory of our talk is at least a days old! I can't erase it! Is this it? I even chewed a caterpillar for this!
"Can I join you in peeking?" HUH?
"What? You wanna peek too?" I asked.
"Wait,do you swing that way? Now that you look at it, you're a girl wearing a guy's uniform" I asked. So she's a lesbian huh...
"Uhh I'm a boy" The god has forsaken us.
"Ohhh your a b-boy huh... Sorry my bad" Well, it takes a real man to be a woman I guess, at least my favorite cosplayer is a woman so there's still hope in this world.
"Uhh so I heard that you two are gonna peek with the help of magic?" Right... She-I mean he heard that too. Well, he seems to be worthy of seeing my magic.
"Fire...Ignite!" I said as a burst of flame enveloped my hand, then I threw the flame into the sky, I looked at the boy who seems to be so amazed.
"That so cool... Uhm.. Who are you?"
"Hikigaya Hachiman, the Black Flash of the Bramahal, nice to meet you commoner" Ahh nailed it again!
"I'm Totsuka Saika.. Umn first son of the Saika family and unh.. Vice captain of the tennis club! Nice to meet you... Hachiman?" CUTE! Even though he's just a commoner, he properly returned an appropriate greeting for me! But what's cuter is how he said my first name!
"Can you say my name again?" Say it!
"Hachiman" Ohh again!
"Again please"
"Hachiman" hehe.
"Last time"
"Hachiman" who needs peeking if I can hear my name spoken by an angel?
"Hikigaya! Here! A caterpillar! But seriously how are you gonna use this?" Oh Zaimokuza's back.
"... Hikigaya.. You're with a girl alone in the rooftops...She also wears a guy's uniform,... You have a tomboy GF? You're supposed to destroy the raiju, not join them!"
" Whoa Zaimokuza! Hold your horses, she is actually a he... "I tried to calm him down, I mean, If I see Zaimokuza alone with a beautiful girl, I'm I'll have the same reaction.
"She's a He... That's actually... Better" I know right? Makes you question your preferences... WAIT I DIVED TOO DEEP! YOU'RE A STRAIGHT MAN HACHIMAN!
"He's gonna join us in our operation Zaimokuza"
"Really? Why? He could just walk in the changing room casually" Zaimokuza said. Now that you mentioned it... Totsuka is too powerful...
"You see, I'm always mistaken for a girl, and I'm sick of it, so I asked my dad what makes a guy a man, he said it's starts with peeking" Your dad.. Is unique?
"So.. This means you already saw Hikigaya's magic huh? Cool right?" Zaimokuza talked to Totsuka.
"Uhh I'm Zaimokuza Yoshiteru, a Sword Master General, nice to meet you" Ohh going for another friend huh Zaimokuza?
"Ohh.. I'm Totsuka Saika, vice captain of the tennis club!"
Somehow, their exchange of names is more wholesome than ours, and I hate it.
"Ok enough pleasantries, give me the caterpillar Zaimokuza" he handed it to me.
3rd Person POV:
Hikigaya placed the caterpillar inside the paper bag, then made a magic circle again, he then threw the paper bag in the center of the magic circle.
The magic circle started to glow red then Hikigaya talked "Now, we just have to wait for 30 minutes"
"How can a magic sentry be made with those things inside that paper bag Hikigaya?" Zaimokuza asked.
"Magical Exchange Zaimokuza, I gathered random things that when combined, their values is equal for a sentry drone,we have to exchange things with equal values or this won't work, in the Other World, they have this magic stones that you can exchange with anything, but that thing doesn't exist in this world so we have to scrap by with this" Hikigaya explained.
"You're so cool Hachiman!" Totsuka praised.
"Yeah so cool, can I write that Hikigaya? You see I want to be an author of a light novel, don't worry, I'll change it, instead of magical exchange, it will be equal exchange! And they don't use magic, they use alchemy!" Zaimokuza asked.
"I'm pretty sure that story already existed Zaimokuza" Hikigaya stated.
"I'll show you an original story one day Hikigaya! You better read it!" Zaimokuza declared.
"I'll read it too!" Totsuka added.
30 minutes later...
The magic circle glowed brighter then disappeared, leaving an eye in a stick, and a small orb.
Hikigaya gave the the eye in a stick to Zaimokuza and said "This is the transceiver, you've my message in Line right? So you must know how to set up this?" Hikigaya asked Zaimokuza.
"Of course my comrade! I memorized it!" Zaimokuza answered.
"Ok! You two, go to the equipment storage room in the indoor court, bring the receiver and set it up there, I'll make my self invisible, enter the changing room, plant this orb shaped sentry and leave immediately. That's the plan. Let the Operation Wonderful Sight begin!"
"Yes sir!" Zaimokuza and Totsuka both said.
The 3 quickly left the rooftops and the main building, Hikigaya quickly ran towards the changing room of the girls while the other 2 quickly ran towards the indoor court of the school.
Zaimokuza and Totsuka entered the equipment storage inside the indoor court, Totsuka locked the door of the storage while Zaimokuza grabbed a white chalk from his pocket, he then started to draw a circle and a star on the middle of it on the floor, he then putted the eye on a stick in the middle of the circle he had drawn.
"Eyes of the Unseen, show me..." Zaimokuza said, then the eye started to project a screen.
"Ohh the screen is on..." Zaimokuza said. "The screen shows the... Changing room! Hikigaya is in the changing room!"
"Finally! I'll be one step closer to becoming a man!" Totsuka cheered!
At the changing room...
Hikigaya stood inside the changing room "Ok, all I have to do is place this orb shaped sentry somewhere here and its mission accomplished!" then... Something hitted Hikigaya... He stopped, then walked out of the changing room without placing the sentry, his face shows lost of inspiration.
He then run towards the equipment storage room inside the indoor court. He knocked, Totsuka unlocked, and he entered the room.
"What's wrong Hikigaya? All you have to do is drop off that sentry in the changing room!" Zaimozuka asked.
"Let's abort this operation" Hikigaya said looking at Zaimozuka's. Hikigaya's eyes are lifeless.
"Why? Hikigaya? All of that planning is going to be wasted!" Zaimozuka retorted.
"Come on Zaimozuka, we only planned this for like 30 minutes, that just like an episode of an anime including commercials, If someones should regret aborting this mission, that should be me, I ate a dead caterpillar for this" Hikigaya answered.
"Tell us why then, Hikigaya" Zaimozuka asked in a serious tone.
"You know... If you look at our female classmates, they are kind of... Bland? None of them have assets that resonates to my "kingdom come",think about it, it's our first time peeking, it should be to someone really beautiful right? We might be degenerates but we should have standards" Hikigaya talked with a lifeless tone.
"I can't believe this... You're right! I-I have been blinded! I have been living a lie! I can't believe I'm gonna say but, curse manga, light novels, and anime! They have given us false hopes! Of course there's no way there will be a classroom filled with beautiful girls who had different set of assets and personality corresponding to them! No tanned tomboys, no tsundere class reps, no Onee-san senpai!" Zaimozuka came into realization.
"But... My first step to becoming a man..." Totsuka asked.
"Forget it Totsuka, highschool girls can't turn you into a man" Hikigaya answered him.
"Let's go my comrades, Totsuka you should go back to your class now, while Hikigaya and I will go to the changing room of boys, we have PE class after lunch" Totsuka understood and gave a nod of approval.
TIME SKIP: At the indoor court...
The class are playing sports, the girls are playing volleyball while the boys plays basketball, Hikigaya and Zaimozuka are both seating in the side of the court, watching their classmates.
"Hey, Hikigaya, I'll try writing a light novel... It will be action and fantasy... There won't be any harem, fan service, and big pair of weapons of mass distraction, read it OK? " Hikigaya just looked at him with a smile, then nodded. Zaimozuka continued to talk "I'll write this for the future weebs and Otaku, so that they won't live a lie like me"
"I'm sure that's only you Zaimozuka, I'm sure the other degenerates out there knows to separate reality and fantasy, but I'll read your manuscript Zaimozuka" they have both come to an agreement.

I lied, I said the next chapters will be shorter but this seems to be longer than the last one.
