"Kagome, wake up. We have arrived."

The words reached Kagome's hazy mind slowly before catching up to her, her eyes snapping open quickly.

"I fell asleep?"

Her question was rhetorical, and she barely heard Sesshomaru's answer as her thirsty eyes drank in the sight of his fortress from overhead.

"You did," the lord mumbled, amusement shadowing his words. "How terribly careless of you. Have you forgotten with whom you keep company?"

That caught her attention and she turned in his arms.

"What in the world are you talking about?"

His amusement began to show in the curve of his lips, drawing her eyes.

"I am youkai," he supplied.

"Therefore I should be afraid of you?"

She lifted a brow in challenge.

"Shouldn't you? We are sworn enemies, are we not?"

To that, Kagome leaned forward, her brow pressing to his.

"Never," she whispered. "I'll love you for the rest of my life."

Sesshomaru leaned back slightly, gazing into her enthralling blue eyes heavily.

His feet touched the grounds of his garden, his arms still wrapped protectively around his priestess.

The others landed around him, but they went largely without notice.

Sesshomaru adjusted his hands, lowering her slowly so that her feet touched the ground, but they'd both yet to look away from one another.

His smile is soft, subtle, as he brushed the back of his fingers sweetly across her jaw.

"You were made for me; do you know this?" Sesshomaru finally said softly, breaking the intimate silence. His fingers curled around hers and he tugged gently. "Come. I wish to tell you something… and to make a request."

Kagome, both baffled and swooning, followed behind him as her heart melted into the ground at his feet.
