The Road to Somewhere.
Lyra Malfoy led an army of Murdercorns, Amadeus Crouch and a small army of dinosaures, and the cloaks were all surrounding us. And not to mention there were several of the cruelest, most wicked people in all of existence wanting a piece of the action. I joined Astra, Elle, Book Lockhart, and Deadpool. I would never ask how this situation could have been any worse. I knew better by this point.
"I take it we didn't plan for this," Astra said.
"Oh, I planned for something like this," I said. "Although not completely like this. That doesn't change the exit strategy."
"How hard can finding a way out of Hell be?" Deadpool asked.
"Oh, you'd be surprised," Astra said.
"I mean, half of the time, they can't wait to kick me out," Deadpool said.
"Foul creatures!" Book Lockhart said. "You're going to meet your doom!"
Lockhart whipped out a pair of guns and started to fire them at the army of dinosaurs and murdercorns. The cloaks rushed towards us all at the same time. I decided to do the only thing that made sense.
I hurled the piece of Green Flame Torch up into the air. Where Lyra grabbed it.
"At last!" Lyra yelled. "You Cloaks will pay!"
"Not if I make them pay first!" Amadeus yelled. "To the attack, my pets."
So, the bad guys are fighting for the right to kill the other bad guys we are fighting. Seems legit. Deadpool jumped into the air, twin katanas blazing and decapitated one of the dinosaurs.
Only for the creature's head to grow back, meaner than ever.
"Well, that can't be good."
I jumped into the air and mounted one of the murdercorns. I directed another one towards Astra and Elle. They all jumped on as well and directed the hideous creatures.
I once rode a cursed broomstick. How hard could it be? The damn murdercorn zoomed around the area. I steered it right into the dinosaur and it's horn exploded into the creature. I jumped into the air and dove at Lyra. Lyra dodged the attack.
"You think you're clever, don't you, Potter?" Lyra asked. "You might be smart enough to outsmart my witless soon to be dead brother, but you're not…."
Astra dismounted and jumped on the back of Lyra's murdercorn before grabbing the green flame torch base out of her hand.
"You are a Malfoy," Astra said. "You talk way too much."
Astra managed to make a firm landing down onto the ground. Elle put up a large dome around us. The creatures and cloaks pounded their way, at least until Book Lockhart and Deadpool cut a path through them, knocking their enemies down.
"Portal is…on the other side of the arena," Elle said.
"That's just our luck," I said. "Those two can't keep this up forever."
"Maybe they don't have to," Elle murmured.
The screams of children and the sound of an approaching bus caused the fight to stop short. Hey, I knew that bus. And I was not expecting it to take a trip through Hell.
"When I say, jump, jump!"
The magic school bus of chaos whipped its way through the arena and ran over several bystanders.
"Oh, crap this isn't the place either. It's…"
"JUMP!"
I jumped, Astra jumped, and Elle jumped.
"No hitchhikers!" the chaos lord inhibiting the bus yelled.
Deadpool jumped up, slashing at his enemies and took them down. He jumped on top of the bus, hanging onto the side as it drove erratically.
"Remember kids, we're trained professionals, don't try this at home," Deadpool said.
"We're trained?" I asked.
"Okay, fine, but still don't try this at home," Deadpool said. "So where is the magic chaos bus taking us?"
"I don't know," I said. "Once it passes through, everyone jump!"
The dinosaurs just barely missed taking a bite out of us and the bus. The bus goes throw the portal and it hurls us off and causes us to crash down to the ground.
And the bus disappears into parts unknown. Then again, we were on parts unknown. At least we had the Green Flame Torch piece.
I guess that's better than a kick up the arse.
X-X-X
"Auntie Em? Toto? Are we home yet?" Deadpool groggily asked.
"I don't think we're in Kansas," I said.
Elle stood up straight, wand in hand. I thought it was a bit too much to hope for that we would land perfectly back into Hogsmeade.
"Gideon?" I asked. "Can you hear me?"
"Barely," Gideon said over my watch. "But, you have a lot of static. Did you get the Green Flame Torch piece?"
"Yes," I agreed. "But we're…."
"Completely surrounded by ninjas," Deadpool remarked.
From dinosaurs to ninjas. Great, all we have to do is land on a pirate ship and we hit the seven year old wet-dream trifecta. An army of ninjas surrounded us from all angles.
"So, I guess I should have made that right turn at Albequerque?" I asked.
"You dare trespass on this sacred ground," one of the ninjas commented.
"Well, yes," I said. "Although to be fair, we took a school bus out of Hell and we landed here."
"It's Perenelle Flamel," one of the ninjas said.
They all moved in, preparing for an attack on Elle. Astra, Deadpool, and I waited for the ninjas to attack.
"Stand down!"
A very attractive woman with dark hair dressed in a skin tight black uniform which made me hate the fact I did not go through my maturity yet stepped into the room. She eyed us all suspiciously for a moment.
"Talia al Ghul," I said.
"How did you know my name?" Talia asked.
"Well, there's a really funny story behind that," I said. "I know your father is Ra's al Ghul. I know this is Nanda Parbat. And I know that ninja over there is trying to discreetly check out your arse."
Talia turned around which gave me a chance to discreetly check out her arse.
"You tresspass, Mr…."
"Potter, Harry Potter," I said.
"The Boy-Who-Lived," Talia said. "You're a long way from Hogwarts, young one."
"I wish to speak to Ra's al Ghul," Harry said.
"So much knowledge for one so young," Talia remarked. "But, I'm afraid I can't let you leave. Especially since you have an item that belongs to the League of Assassins."
"Oh, right, that," I said. "Look, Talia, I'll level with you. I received that item as a Christmas present from a girl who got it from her brother, who stole it from the League, who stole it from the Goblins. And I don't know where it is. But, what I'm really after is the Green Flame Torch."
"The Green Flame Torch?" one of the members of the League asked.
"But, it's a myth."
"Oh it's real," I said. "And the Cloaks are after it."
"A magical boogieman," Talia said. "We will let you leave peacefully if you tell us where the item we seek is."
"Deadpool, can I have your sword?" I asked.
"I don't know, can you?"
I bopped Deadpool on the head. Don't you hate it when teachers do that? Because, I do and bobbed Deadpool for all of the teachers who pull that shit on you.
If they pull that one if you ask to go to the bathroom you have every right to drop your pants and shit on their floor.
You shouldn't really take any advice from me. But, hey, I told you not to Google the Snapewives and you didn't listen to me then either. So, why would you listen to me now?
I took the sword, and squared off with Talia.
"You must joke?" Talia asked.
"Fight me," I told her.
"Harry, are you…."
"Fight me," I said. "If you can't, it goes to show you why you will never be worthy to be Ra's heir."
"You're making a mistake," Talia said.
"I don't make mistakes," I said. "Now fight me."
Talia withdrew her blade and rushed me. I dodged all of her attacks with expert precision.
"Learned all of these moves from Ta-er al-Sahfer?" I asked. "Well, I did too. And I learned, this, this, and this."
I broke her sword, knocked the wind out of her, and then pretty much paralyzed her with a single touch. I put Deadpool's blade to her throat.
"Protect the master's daughter…."
A loud crack echoed and the large League member fell to his knees.
"Sit, Ubu, Sit," Astra said.
"What do you want?' Talia asked.
"For one, your ninjas to stop attacking me."
Suddenly all of the ninjas had dropped down their knees, gasping for air. Zari appeared with the air totem, along with Kara, Rowena, Penny, and the other founders.
"Gideon managed to track you," Zari said.
"The portal shut and the coundit disappeared," Rowena said. "And I'm…"
"We're going to meet Ra's al Ghul," I said. "But, I feel like we're missing something."
Didn't we used to have a bigger party? Someone's missing.
"Very well, I will escort you to see my father," Talia said. "But, you may not like the consequences of…."
A loud rumbling echoed in the distance.
"That better not be what I think it is," I grumbled.
"It's a Wendigo?" Deadpool asked.
"It's not a Wendigo!" I snapped.
A portal opens up and a small army of dinosaurs appear in the distance.
"Dinosaurs?" Godric asked. "We get to fight Dinosaurs. That's Poggers!"
Okay, who taught the man from the past the lingo from the future. I'm not one hundred percent sure he used the lingo right, but here we are.
"Why are there dinosaurs?" Zari asked. "Is someone messing with the time stream again?"
"Not exactly," I said.
"These are genetically created from Dinosaur eggs and Dragon DNA, by our resident squib mad scientist Amadeus Crouch," I explained.
"If it's made from dragons, most spells can't penetrate it," Penny said. "Dragon hide needs several wizards to even stun it. And I'm not sure what these things are…"
The members of the League attacked the dinosaurs on Talia's order. They started to hack and slash at one of them. And I saw, dangling from the jaw of one of the dinosaurs, still stabbing it, the book Lockhart.
So, that's what we forgot. The League might be among the best trained in the world, but there's a difference between fighting humans and fighting these genetically altered dragon dinosaurs.
"Zari, blind them!" I yelled. "Rowena, Elle, and Penny, draw them to the left. Helga, Salazar, and Astra, you're with me. Kara help Zari! And Godric?"
"YES!" Godric yelled.
That man had no indoor voice, I swear.
"Help Book Gilderoy randomly hit them," I told him.
"YES!" Godric yelled. "You dinosaurs aren't a match for me!"
Talia flipped over onto her feet and took out the creatures as they can for her.
"I would like to know what you plan on doing," Talia said.
I drew as much magic from the area as I could. Well, this could be a bit tricky.
"Just stand clear when I give the word," I said.
Kara grabbed one of the dinosaurs by the tail and flung it over. Godric picked up a comically large axe, not sure where that came from, and slammed it down onto one of the creature's heads.
"Everyone stand clear!" I growled. "Now!"
My eyes glowed. Well, I was either going to transform or blow myself into smithereens. Guess you miss one hundred percent of the shots you never come.
Above their head, a large fearsome dragon with black and green scales appeared high in the sky.
Hey, that's me. I did it. Good for me.
The dinosaurs turned their attention to a dragon, which was much bigger than me. I shot magically created fired at the dinosaurs and burned them to ash.
"No, my babies!" Amadeus yelled. "Filthy dragon! You'll pay for that!"
Well, Amadeus getting knocked off the back of the dinosaur by a wild Supergirl prevented him from extracting any payment. Amadeus stood down onto the ground and a sword out of nowhere hacked Amadeus's head off.
Sparks started to fly everywhere. Deadpool pulled away from him.
"So did you know he was a robot?" Elle asked him.
"Eh, I had an inkling," Deadpool said. "Hey, I hear a ticking noise. Might be a pipebomb!"
Kara ripped the decapitated robot off of the ground, winded up and hurled it. Zari used the wind totem to send it flying into oblivion.
Then, I turned back into a human and almost fell down to the ground. Kara caught me before I landed to the ground.
"Thanks," I told her. "Always there to catch me."
"How are you feeling?" Kara asked me.
"Hungry," I said.
I shakily made my way to the ground. Only to find myself to start flicker in and out of reality again. Elle, Rowena, and Astra all screamed, before I steadied myself.
"Did that happen before?" Rowena asked.
"Once earlier," I said.
"Someone might be trying to erase you," Astra said.
Can't think of who would do that. Other than the few people who would do it. Okay, more than a few people. It was more than a few people.
"Are we….are we really going to let this one go?" Rowena asked. "Who is messing with time?"
I could think of a couple of speedsters off hand who might be doing something stupid. However, Talia's eyes fell onto me and suddenly something was clicking with her.
"You're the Dragon," Talia said.
"Yes, my lady, I am," I said.
"You should have led with that," Talia said.
"And would you have believed me if I did?" I asked.
Astra and Kara stuck close to me, almost afraid if they let go, I would slip through.
"I feel like there's something we should remember," Kara said.
"Well, when we went back in time my memories were a bit scrambled," I said. "Therefore, I may have forgotten a few details."
"Including exactly how we went back in the first place," Astra said. "We only have theories. But, no clarity."
We gazed up to the mountain. It was time for the steady climb up to Nanda Parbat. Talia and the horde of ninjas followed me up.
It was time to meet the head of the league, Ra's al Ghul himself.
X-X-X
"I have watched you from afar for a long time Harry Potter. I had long since suspected you had some connection to the Dragon. But, it seems…particularly intriguing. And yet, aligns with another encounter I had with another individual decades ago, a woman, who was out of her time. I believe you know the name Ta-er al-Sahfer."
Indeed, I did and I nodded in response.
"And you have a part of the Green Flame Torch," Ra's said. "It does exist."
"Yes, but there's an organization of mysterious witches and wizards who wish to have it," I said. "And then it's…."
For the third time in many hours, I started to fade from existence. My voice was trailing off and I heard some screams around me.
Cold, chilling, lifeless. It was a voice.
"OFF WITH HIS HEAD!"
I looked up and saw a flicker of what I thought was me for a second. And then, it was my father James Potter. On the ground lay the battered forms of Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin. I had been flickering in and out of reality.
The blade plunged into James's chest. It had a vibrant glow to it. And then an arrow came out of mid-air and knocked the blade out of the attacker's hand.
"HARRY!"
A small fight occurred between a hooded archer and the mysterious assassin. I found myself flickering into the past and could feel the fog surrounding me.
James Potter laid lifeless on the ground. I could feel his life seeping out of him, and then when I drew in closer, I could feel the life fading out of me.
I watched as a red light whirled through the air. I turned and came face to face with her.
A younger version of my mother, Lily. And Lily's eyes locked onto mine for a second, mouth wide-open.
Then I faded from the scene one more time. The time assassin disappeared as I did, and Lily worked to stabalize James, as the other Marauders came through.
"It happened again," Rowena said.
I was back, I guess. Although I could still feel the chill in the air.
"James, James Potter," I said. "He was attacked. Came this close to being killed."
"An assassin of some sort?" Talia asked.
"This is a concerning development," Ra's said. "Someone is trying to alter the timeline."
"I've got to find this time assassin and stop him," I said.
"Harry?" Astra asked. "I….I don't know about this."
"I feel like we're missing a big piece of what's going on," Zari said. "Something that I should remember."
"If your memories have been compromised, there are ways to bring them back," Elle said. "But, it's a risk."
"The Lazarus Pit may be able to assist you," Ra's said. "If you are worthy. But even those who are worthy, there's a high cost."
"Are we sure about this?" Elle asked. "This could be a distraction for the Green Flame Torch. We have two more pieces."
"I could fade away any second again and next time I might not come back," I said. "That wasn't me going back in time. That was a memory. From a splintered timeline. Gideon, could you please bring up any temporal anomalies?"
"On June 30th, 1978, James Potter, Lily Evans, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, Remus Lupin, Severus Snape, Bartemius Crouch Junior, Bellatrix Lestrange, Regulus Black, and Natalie Swann have all disappeared after an attack in Hogsmeade," Gideon explained. "They vanished without a trace, never to be found."
"My mother, your parents," Astra said. "Harry I…."
"There's still time for time to solidify before there are consequences," I replied.
"As in our non-existence," Astra said. "And if you disappear, Voldemort reigns supreme."
"Which is why the Pit should be used for Harry to recover his memories, and find out if there's anything of value he can help," Talia said.
"It won't be too long before we start forgetting and eventually fade," Zari said. "All of us."
"Approximately seventy-three hours by my count," Gideon said. "I don't want to mince words, but this situation is…"
"Prepare the Lazarus Pit," I told them. "I'm going inside."
"This could mean your destruction," Rowena warned me.
I moved over as the members of the League prepared the Lazarus Pit.
"It will be okay," Penny said.
"It's Harry," Kara said. "It has to be."
"If not, we won't be around to have this conversation three days from now," Astra concluded grimly.
If both Lily and James were gone, there is no me. A little over three days before none of this technically happened. Well, might as well go there. I prepared to be lowered into the Lazarus Pit.
The turns life takes is strange.
Not sure if I could go even more mad by going into the Pit. Guess we're going to find out. Although, I do wonder what angle Ra's has in this. He always does.
To Be Continued.
