Author's note: I don't know if ill continue this, but probably not, this is my first 'story', I'm only testing my ability to write, so I guess this probably is a one shot lol

He looked around, nothing but trees, he sniffed the air, it smelled of hadrosaurs, not a threat, he didn't want to wake up being garroted in his sleep, he was mostly making sure the tyrannosaurs weren't in his proximity, specifically the scarred one, it had suddenly appeared a few months back, the tyrant pair usually would rather leave than risk injury when faced against him, he couldn't blame them, at 22 feet tall he towered over them.

But the scarred one was different, it had obviously been in a lot of battles, the scars on its body making it clear, it was one of the only things that could somewhat challenge him if he didn't count the sailed one. He was still way stronger, but it was persistent and awfully smart for its kind, it usually attacked out of nowhere, when he was sleeping, eating or resting, it had almost succeded one day, biting on the back of his neck while he was dozing off, but thanks to his back spikes, he was mostly unharmed, he gave her quite a beating after that, he never knew why he still didn't kill it, it was getting annoying.

He sat down, his tail crushing a few small trees that were in the way, and rested his head on the undergrowth, still alert, he then heard a few chirps, and he looked down to see a small theropod. He never knew what they were, but they could fly, with its back mostly covered in red feathers, barely bigger than a tooth, he opened his mouth, and let the smaller creature pick out the remains of his previous meal between his teeth, he sometimes had these weird dream while sleeping, of an endless sea of trees and plains, of creatures dozen of times his size, a battle against a tyrannosaur, and a blinding light coming from the sky, that's when he usually woke up.

It was a bizarre experience, to say the least, but it intrigued him, the territory he had was limited, taking up most of the forest in the reserve, but as he grew, it began to feel small, he had seen the metal barriers at the borders of his territory, he could see huge plains in the small gaps that fence had, the only reason he hadn't broken them, was because merely touching it would make him feel pain so unimaginably torturous that he would almost faint.

He knew it was the work of the pale, upright-standing creatures, they were extremely weird, and he would rather not mingle with them if it weren't the fact that they were so, incredibly tasty, their soft flesh usually hit the spot, but he was smart enough to not hunt them every single day, as what he assumed were the adults, could get way bigger than him, sometimes he would see them fly above him, their wings rotating bizarrely, they were faster then the fastest pterosaurs, and the land ones, usually smaller then him could easily catch up to his running speed, he assumed the reason some of them were soft and way smaller, was because they were hatchlings, as every adult ones he's seen, carries at least one or two 'softies'.

His mind was full of thoughts and questions about the soft ones, but he temporarily banished those thoughts away and closed his eyes as sleep overcame his curiosity.

An overwhelmingly loud sound resonated inside his earholes as he woke up in a daze, he looked towards the direction of the sound, he could see smoke rising in the Sub-zero area, not in his territory, but he was still curious to know the origin of the sound. He groggily lifted himself up and proceeded to trot to where he thought he heard the blaring noise, as he proceeded onwards, he saw quite a few creatures run in the opposite direction he was headed, mostly small critters so he wasn't worried.

When he reached the edge of the forest he saw an adult softie, an incredibly huge one, it was a flying one, but it seemed to lack its head. Perhaps it fell from the sky and died, just as he was about to decide whether he should investigate the corpse or not, he heard screams, hatchling screams. Of course! How could he forget? adult softies always had hatchlings with them, he narrowed his eyes to where he heard the screams when he noticed that a red feathered raptor was chasing after two softies, he then internally sighed, by the time he would be there only half-eaten corpses would be left, which was a bummer, he preferred to eat them alive, still struggling.

He retreated into the trees and contemplated on what to do as he headed towards a small waterhole, an eerie screech woke him from his thoughts, he looked to his left and saw the clawed one roaring at a waterhole? He knew it was mostly blind and would claw up anything it deemed a threat, the small two horned creature being its latest victim, but shrieking at water? It was becoming delusional. He barked at it, the clawed one, recognizing his call immediately turned tail and ran, hitting a few trees in the process, he was not surprised at its reaction, he wasn't the sanctuary's alpha for nothing. He sniffed the air and to his surprise, he smelled a softie, and just as he made that statement in his head, a red-furred softie burst from the water in front of him, it didn't seem like it had seen him, he approached it slowly from the back, making sure to walk on the soft grass, the softie still taking big gulps of air, and right when he was just behind it, he swiftly bit down on the softie, the tip of his jaws easily taking up its whole midsection, its legs flayed crazily as he swallowed, the softie taking a long time to traverse his long throat, when he felt the softie enter his stomach, his facial expressions shifted, imitating a smirk, an action he learned from months of observing the squishy creatures. he lazily looked around and sniffed the air again, he didn't detect any other softies, he rolled on the water, the cold water washing away the dirt and filth from his left side. He laid there for a good amount of time, that is, until he sensed a disturbance, it was the scarred one, and it was only a few dozen meters away from him.

End note: Claire is pretty useless without plot armor *shrug*
