Tuesday Tango For Three
Writer's Month 2022
Simon Lewis-Santiago and Raphael Santiago-Lewis had gotten married three weeks ago.
Simon was totally in love with being newly weds. He loved saying 'my husband', missed not a single opportunity to say it. He loved the way Lewis-Santiago sounded. He had thoroughly enjoyed their two week long honeymoon in Raphael's dad's vacation home.
Now that they were back, it was time to sort through all of their wedding gifts. They'd mostly just loaded them up in their car, brought them home to dump them quickly before grabbing their luggage and leaving for their honeymoon. Simon enjoyed this part too, sitting in a circle of presents and unwrapping them one by one, reading the cards slowly and with care.
"Amor, dinner is ready," Raphael called out. "Find any special treasure?"
Raphael had never been overly materialistic. He loved his designer suits and he had a passion for collecting books, but most the things they had gotten were kitchen appliances, coupons of some sort for meals at fancy restaurants. Though there was one gift in there that Simon thought Raph would really love a lot. So he took that with him to the kitchen, grinning at his husband.
"Actually, I did," Simon put it down on the table, pushing it toward Raphael. "From Izzy."
Izzy was a mutual friend of theirs who they had met through Raphael's dad – because she was his sister-in-law. Simon liked Raphael's father a lot, the man had taken in Raphael as an orphaned teenager and loved him like his own flesh and blood since then. Magnus' husband Alec however, he was a different thing. Very grumpy, kept glaring at Simon. But Izzy? Oh, Izzy was awesome.
"Hm," Raphael smiled softly as he turned the coupon. "And you're up for it...?"
"If you don't mind me stepping on your feet," Simon's grin grew.
Raphael laughed and reached out a hand to grasp Simon by the neck to pull him into a brief, rare kiss. Raphael was asexual and he was sex-repulsed, that extended to kissing most of the time. It was rare for Raphael to accept kisses on the mouth, so they were a rare treat for Simon.
Raphael smiled. "I'll call tomorrow and arrange for classes. For now, dinner."

Raphael was a passionate dancer. He'd been going dancing with Isabelle for a while, they'd even participated in competitions and won. Simon? Not so much. It wasn't that he fully lacked rhythm, he could sing and play the guitar. It was just that his feet didn't entirely coordinate with that. And, apparently, Izzy thought that now that they were married, Simon should be able to dance with his husband. So here they were, ready to take tango lessons with who Simon knew to be an old childhood friend of Isabelle and Alec's. Both Lightwoods often spoke of him, but so far neither Simon nor Raphael had met the guy personally. Part of Simon was also looking forward to meeting this Jace, because he was potentially the only non-Lightwood Alec spoke fondly of.
The studio was nice. Very pretty. So was the blonde awaiting them with a smile.
"So you're the Santiago-Lewises? Iz talks a lot about you. Went all out getting you private lessons. Hi, I'm Jace, I'm the owner and for the next couple weeks, I'll be your teacher."
The thing about Simon was that he was prone to crushes. That didn't mean he loved Raphael any less or that he'd ever cheat on his boyfriend-now-husband. He was just very polyamorous and very quick to develop crushes. Looking at the pretty blonde smiling at them, Simon just knew he was going to develop a very silly and unrequited crush. Judging by the mildly amused look on Raphael's face, so did his husband. And of course he did. Raph knew Simon better than near anyone, he also knew Simon's various types (there were so many, Simon never had had that one type).
Raphael shook Jace's hand. "Thank you for your time, we're looking forward to working with you."

Three weeks into their lessons with Jace found Raphael and Simon stretched out on their couch. Raphael behind Simon and Simon pressed against his husband's chest. Even three weeks later, Simon still relished in that word. Husband. With a soft smile on his lips did Raphael run his knuckles over Simon's ribs, a gentle and comforting gesture. They'd gotten back from their classes about an hour ago and first things first had gone to shower. Simon hadn't realized what a sweat one could build up when dancing. After the shower, they'd thrown together a light dinner.
"So... on a scale of one to ten, how bad is your crush on Jace by now?" Raphael sounded teasing.
That earned him a miserable little noise from Simon. "On maybe like a six. Six point five."
Raphael hummed, a knowing smirk on his lips. He leaned over his husband to kiss Simon's cheek. Sometimes, Simon wished Raphael would just be jealous and done with it. Instead, Raphael was so very understanding and cute and he loved teasing Simon about his crushes. The smirk turned softer as Raphael pressed a kiss to Simon's shoulder. His arms tightened around Simon.
"I will admit he is quite charming," agreed Raphael after a beat.
Well now, that wasn't something that Simon knew how to reply to.

Usually, Raphael enjoyed teasing Simon about the crushes. He liked to say that Simon just had too much love to give. Usually, these crushes would fade after a few weeks. This one, he was different. It didn't fade, it seemed to only grow stronger with time. And, the more surprising part, Raphael found himself drawn to Jace too. There was a natural chemistry between Jace and Raphael whenever they danced with each other. To show Simon how to do it. And then there was the way Simon and Jace looked when they danced with each other. Raphael found himself not minding it.
He'd never been the jealous type to begin with. As someone who didn't experience sexual attraction, he found the notion puzzling and slightly amusing. So he didn't mind when Simon felt attracted to others, because he trusted his partner not to act on it and cheat on Raphael. Trust was the key.
"You seem distracted today," commented Raphael conversationally.
Despite his distraction, Jace didn't miss a single step. Though he seemed startled when his attention returned to Raphael. An apologetic look crossed his face at that.
"Not a criticism. You're still impeccable even without any concentration at all," Raphael chuckled before offering a more serious face. "Still, what... has you so distracted, if you don't mind?"
The song ended and the two of them headed over to the very attentive Simon sitting by to watch them and learn from them. "I... This weekend, there is a competition I had signed up for."
"Oh, that's exciting. Where? We could come and watch," Simon paused. "Uh, that sounded more creepy than it was meant to. Just, to cheer you on?"
"That... won't be necessary," Jace forced a smile. "The partner I signed up with fell ill so I'll have to drop out, because... you can't tango on your own."
Simon frowned at that. "Well, if all you need is a dance-partner, you can borrow my husband."
Both Jace and Raphael raised their eyebrows at him at that. Simon made a dismissive gesture that had Raphael chuckling. He knew how his husband had meant, so he turned toward Jace too.
"If you think I'm good enough to compete at your side, I'd volunteer myself too."
"Really?" Jace visibly perked up. "You're my best student, in that you really don't need the lessons at all. It'd be a great help. The classes only pay so much, I need the prize money too."
Simon looked so pleased. Which was a problem. Both Simon and Raphael were enamored with Jace at this point and they both enabled each other in it. Raphael didn't know where this was going.

Jace was a damn fool. It wasn't rare for him to fall for a student, since all his students were consenting adults. Sometimes, he had a fling – only ever after their respective classes ended. But this one? A married couple? Happily married couple, at that. But as he was dancing the competition with Raphael, he could feel it. He felt so close to Raphael and he wanted to be even closer to him.
"We won," Jace was panting, cheeks flushed and manic smile on his lips.
All he wanted to do was kiss the other. But then Raphael's husband ran up to them and wrapped his arms around them both, cheering very loudly for them. And ah yes. Kissing Raphael wasn't Jace's.
"Thank you, again," Jace took a step back, the smile on his lips thinning.
"Oh, we are so going out to celebrate this!" Simon sounded so excited as he grabbed Jace's hand.
We, as in all three of them? Well, that wasn't going to help him with his crush any, was it?
/break\
Three hours and a far too expensive and delicious meal later had Jace walking into the Santiago-Lewis home. Because it had been raining so awfully and he'd just get soaked and they had good whiskey at home, he could come for a drink and wait for the rain to stop. Since they'd gotten to eat at the hotel's restaurant. The hotel that Raphael owned, where their penthouse suite was located. So he wouldn't have to get wet in the rain, he'd just have to take the elevator up.
Three drinks later had Jace regretting that decision, because the warmer he felt, the more inviting Raphael and Simon's lips looked, so he put down the glass and got up. "I should... leave."
"You don't have to," Raphael gentled him back down onto the couch. "You could sleep it off here. On the couch, I wouldn't be inappropriate enough to come onto you when drunk."
"But you would come onto me if I were sober?" Jace grinned teasingly, before frowning at the flustered look on Simon's face. "Wait, what? Really? Like... really?"
"Uh, I mean... Maybe..." Simon's blush got worse. "Maybe. If we were all sober and all that. We would like to take a chance on you, yeah."
Huh. Jace blinked owlishly and dropped sideways to lay on the couch. The way Raphael smiled at him as he grabbed a blanket to spread out over Jace made the blonde feel warm.
"I'd like that," whispered Jace softly. "If we'd talk. After... your classes with me end?"
Raphael's smile warmed and he pressed a kiss to Jace's forehead. "Very well."
"Good night," Simon grinned, looking far too happy, as he too kissed Jace's forehead.
~*~ The End ~*~
Author's note: Took me a while to figure this one out, but oh yes, Raphael and Jace dancing did it for me. And Married Saphael falling for Jace is always nice ;D
