This is it! Final part - for anyone still reading (lol), I hope you've enjoyed.

She just stared at the note, laying there on the pillow. She held the sheets as she curled her knees into her chest. The sun that was streaming in suddenly felt cold. It was good, the note. There was nothing bad - so why did she feel so uneasy?

She couldn't help but just stare at the piece of paper. As if it might suddenly burst into flames or something. She let out a deep breath she didn't know she was holding before closing her eyes and breathing in and out forcefully. When she opened her eyes again, she wrapped the sheets around her bare body and made her way to the bathroom to get ready for the day.

She was about to turn on the shower until she caught her reflection in the mirror. She just stood there and stared. Her messy hair, her pink fur against the satin sheets wrapped around her. With one hand holding up the sheets, the other traced her cheeks and neck, down to her chest. It was as if she could feel where he'd been, smell him, hear him. It was unreal.

She shook herself from the trance before dropping the sheet and turning on the hot water. Although, a silly part of her didn't want to wash the past night off. She willed herself to hope he would be back tonight, just like he'd said. If he wasn't - then this was over.

'Holy shit.' Rouge's eyes were wide holding the note, curled up on Amy's couch.

'I know.' Amy sighed before sipping her hot tea, the snow outside falling again and causing a chill.

'How did- will he- are you- oh my, god.' The ivory bat could barely string a sentence together.

'It just... happened, I guess.' The fuchsia hedgehog shrugged.

'So... how was it?' Rouge asked cheekily, partly wanting to know and partly just wanting to make Amy laugh.

'It was...' Amy trailed off, a smile slowly spreading across her face, 'wow.'

'Hm, love that for you.'

Rouge chuckled at herself, making Amy laugh with her. It was a brief reprieve of the emotional rollercoaster she had felt that morning. Her smile faded again slightly, the thought of him maybe not coming back crossing her mind again. Rouge could tell.

'He'll come back, Amy.' Rouge told her firmly, causing the bubblegum heroine to look at her. 'He pisses me off, but I know he will.'

'I hope you're right.'

The winter evening chill was fresh in the city, snow falling again across the paved streets. Sonic was nervous enough to slow him to a walk through the streets, a big brown scarf wrapped around his neck. He reached the little cafe where they said they'd meet, and saw Violet through the window sitting at a table for two, mug of tea in hand. She seemed lost in thought.

He let out a deep sigh - he couldn't remember a time he'd been this nervous. A little bell rang as he pushed the door open, causing Violet to snap out of her trance. A wave of nerves shot through them both as they locked eyes, ending in a soft smile in each other's direction.

The cobalt hedgehog walked up to her and pecked her cheek politely as he greeted her before taking a seat across the table. A waitress came over to top up Violet's tea and pour Sonic a mug before she left again, leaving an eerie silence between the two.

'So... how are you? I-uh, haven't seen you for a few days.' She started, almost timidly.

'I'm, I'm good. Just been a little busy, I'm sorry. I should have reached out sooner to see you.' Sonic cleared his throat, 'How are you?'

'I'm ok.' She shrugged.

'So, anyway,' He began after a moment's silence, 'I wanted to meet up and talk to you about something.'

'Oh?' She cocked a brow as she sipped her tea, but something about it didn't seem like she was surprised.

'I wanted to tell you how glad I am we met. A-and I've really been having a good time hanging out together and-'

'Sonic?' Violet cut him off, causing his breath to hitch. 'I know.'

'You- uh, huh?'

'I see the way you look at her.'

His eyes widened. She knew. How?! He didn't even know when he met her. A wave of guilt coursed through his body, freezing him. He stammered to say something but just couldn't say anything. He didn't want to hurt this wonderful and kind person sitting across from him.

'I thought maybe, at Christmas. At New Years? I knew.' She paused a moment and took a deep breath, 'I saw you come out of the hallway before midnight... and her not far behind. You smelled of her perfume, and I saw Rouge wipe away smudged lip gloss from Amy's cheek.'

'Violet, I-'

'I'm not mad.'

'Y-You're not?'

'I'm really not.' She shrugged through a sad smile. 'I'm sad... I really like you, Sonic. But, I'm not mad. You both just seem... right. I have a feeling you just couldn't feel that with me. And, that's ok.'

'Violet...' He trailed off as she stood up.

She walked around to his side and held his cheek in her palm, smiling down at him. She leaned in and kissed him on the lips before slowly parting away. He allowed it, sunk into it even. He wouldn't tell her but she was right... he couldn't feel it with her. She smiled as she caressed his cheek with her thumb.

'Take care of yourselves. I mean it.'

He was left in a daze as he watched her walk away, the bell on the door sounding as it closed behind her. He watched her walk away out the window. She wouldn't let him see the silent tears stream down her face. She meant what she said: she really liked him, but she wasn't mad. Now, she was just moving on.

He pulled himself together with a few breaths before even smiling a little. He felt guilty, but was glad this was how it ended. He hoped she would be ok, find someone who she didn't only 'really like'. He placed a few rings on the table for the tea before fleeing the cafe and speeding out of the city in the opposite direction.

The sun was barely peeping over the horizon, the winter night's chill nipping at her skin as she slowly strolled down the dirt pathway. Amy had taken herself on a stroll not long after Rouge left. She thought to herself if Sonic was coming back tonight, he would be late. If he wasn't... well then it wouldn't matter that she was out.

She didn't want to get her hopes up, despite everything that was said and... done. She couldn't bare the thought of being so unbelievably shattered that she wouldn't know how to recover. Even then, the fuchsia heroine couldn't help but relive last night.

The way he seemed to know exactly what she wanted, what she needed. The way he would slowly trace and tease her hips and chest before kissing her, whispering how much he wanted and needed her lowly in her ear...

'I'm sorry I took so long...' he whispered, making her smile.

'You're so beautiful, Amy.' Sonic said a little nervously, staring her dead in the eye.

'You're not so bad yourself, handsome.' She smiled as she nipped his lips, her satin sheets wrapped around them both.

He kissed her fiercely before pulling the soft sheets around them tighter...

Amy couldn't help but smile to herself, almost embarrassed at reliving the night. She breathed in the cold air, still wandering down the path towards home. Part of her was waiting for a cold rush of air to come flying past her, a sign he had come back and would taker home. It never came, more she thought about that, the more nervous she was he wasn't coming - even tried to accept it. She figured the sooner she tried to accept it, the easier it might be. She would have last night and that would be that. That's what she told herself anyway.

She dragged her feet up the steps of her porch, lazily running her hand across the railing and wiping away a thick layer of snow. When she got to the top, she noticed her front door was off the latch, open ever so slightly. She was sure she locked it before she went out - she always does. A fierce wave of nerves shot through her, she wasn't sure she should even go in. She slowly crept up to the handle and pushed the door open slowly...

'Tea?' He asked, shocking her in place.

'H-How did you-'

'Come on, Ames,' the cobalt hero snickered in front of her roaring fireplace, 'you've kept that 'secret' key in the same place for as long as I've known you... that, and I checked with Rouge.

All she could do was smile at him, she didn't have any words. She grabbed a blanket from the couch and took a seat by the fire next to him.

'Well,' She began playfully, 'I guess I'll have to find a better spot for that key.'

'You will,' He laughed. 'Here.' His low voice made her heart race as he passed her a mug of tea.

'Thanks.' She smiled, before taking a sip. She felt a wave of butterflies in her stomach, he knew how she liked her tea. She didn't know he knew that.

'So, how was your day?' Sonic asked as he sat beside her.

'It was fine. Rouge came by for a while then I went for a walk, very quiet.' She took another sip before asking the question that weighed on her, 'How was yours?'

He took a sip of his tea, holding it to his mouth a little longer than normal. He sighed as he looked down at the mug, it made Amy nervous.

'You saw her?' Amy coaxed him.

'I did.' He began, 'We met at a cafe in Station Square.'

'So... How was she?'

'Fine.'

'Everything's fine...' She thought to herself. It has to be. Please let it be.

'Sonic-'

'She knew.' He cut her off.

'I-I don't understand.'

'She knew about you. About us.' He took another sip of his tea. He looked almost sad.

'I... what?

He told her what Violet had said when they met, what they'd discuss. How she'd reacted. Amy was shocked, it seemed too easy for it to go that well. It made her feel even more guilty. She listened to him tell her everything, watched him as he relayed it. He looked almost sad, she wondered if he was regretting anything and it made her sick. She didn't want to feel so anxious about how he was feeling, but struggled to find the courage to ask. When he finished he looked at her, wondering what she'd say but she could barely find the words.

'So... do you- I mean, do you think you-'

'I don't regret anything, Ames. If that's what you're wondering.' He smirked a little.

'Oh, I know. I mean I guess I thought... Oh, thank Chaos.' She sighed through a chuckle, just admitting she was anxious about it.

'I feel bad for Violet, and I'm sorry I hurt her but...' He put down his mug and shuffled closer, wrapping the blanket tighter around them both, 'not as sorry as I'd be if I'd lost you.'

The fuchsia heroine thought her head might explode. She'd never heard him talk like this... ever. She hated to admit it, but she didn't even know he was capable of being so romantic and open with how he was feeling. She thought maybe he wasn't, it's just with her. She was truly at a loss for words. Nothing she could say would explain how happy she was - nothing that wasn't corny or sounded like her eight year old self. Although, her eight year old self would die if she could see them now. She smiled as she put down her mug, moving in closer to him.

'I'm so glad you came back. For a second I was worried-'

'Everything's fine, Ames.' He cut her off, 'I promise.'

The both smiled as he leaned in and kissed her, taking her face in his hands. The big blanket was still wrapped around them tightly, like they were in their own bubble and nothing and no one could get in. One of his hands traced down her neck, shoulder, waist, then hip as he tilted her back to lie down comfortably. She wrapped her arms around his neck before he pulled her in at her waist, as tight as was comfortable. It was as if they were worried about letting go. They both thought how they could never get tired of holding each other like this, kissing and smiling into each other. Nothing could break this trance, including the low buzz of Amy's phone next to her.
