CHAPTER 4

The final battle was over, Harry had defeated Voldemort but Hermione didn't care about that. She was looking around the battlefield for the new headmistress, her mother. She ran around before finally spotting her in the Great Hall talking to Poppy. She paused at the ruined doors for a moment before running to her mother and aunt, pulling them both into a tight hug, tears running down her face mixing with dirt and blood from the battle.

Minerva looked up when she heard someone running towards her, she opened her arms and pulled her daughter into her arms and held her close. "Shh, I'm here, sweetheart. I'm not going anywhere." She whispered as she ran her fingers through auburn brown hair. "Your father would be proud of you." She added so only Hermione and Poppy could hear her.

Hermione eventually pulled back and looked at her mother and aunt with a smile, glad they all made it through. "He would be proud of you too, mum." She smiled forgetting there were other people in the hall and she heard gasps.

Poppy wrapped an arm around Hermione has Minerva went to stand in front of where the staff table would usually be. "I wish to inform you all that Hermione is my daughter, this has been kept a secret for her own safety. I only wanted to protect my baby." She told everyone who looked shocked, no one had expected Minerva to have a child. "Now, let's continue to heal the wounded and notify families." She added firmly before heading back to her daughter. "I hope you're okay with everyone knowing."

The younger witch nodded and hugged her mother again. "I need to go see someone." She whispered before quickly leaving the Great Hall and headed for her mothers nearly untouched rooms, so luckily no one was around when she reached her fathers portrait. "Daddy." She said with a sad smile.

Godric looked at his daughter with a sad smile, mirroring her own. "What is wrong, my lioness?" His voice was laced with concern fearing that Minerva was hurt, but he knew she wasn't because Hogwarts accepted her as Headmistress and that hadn't changed.

"We not long finished the battle, I found mum and aunt Poppy in the Great Hall and ran to hug them not caring who saw." She explained as she sat on the floor in front of the portrait. "Mum said you would be proud of me and I told her that you would be proud of her too… and I called her mum." She sighed. "Everyone in the ruined hall heard so mum told them I was her daughter but didn't explain anything else."

Godric watched as his daughter fought with herself over the situation. The war was finally over, in an hour the whole of wizarding Britain would know Hermione is a McGonagall, she looked so much like her mother when she didn't know what to do. "Your mother has an offer for you, I'm sure she won't mind if I tell you." She knew he was up to something by the twinkle in his eyes. "Your mother and I would like you to take exams early and take the lower years of your mothers class and take over head of house."

Hermione looked up at her father, her eyes wide. "You want me to teach and look after our house? Father I'm only 18." She wasn't sure she would be able to live up to her parents though she wanted to teach.

"Think about it, talk to your mother, talk to your aunt. I trust you to make the choice." He smiled at her before waving her to go. "Go, before your mother sends out the search party." He chuckled as he watched his daughter get up and head back to where everyone was gathered to sort everything out.
