You awoke to the sound of a lawn mower outside the trailer window, you groan to yourself and look around for a clock.. eyes not yet fully adjusted. Ten AM, you groan again with tired eyes.. turning as much as you could with out waking Eddie who was still fast asleep and spooning you.
Slowly you keep turning until you're face to face, admiring how his lips pout while he sleeps and how relaxed he looks. Gently, you rub small circles on his cheek and place a small kiss on his lips "Is it time to get up," he drawls out sleepily, not yet opening his eyes "Hmm, I'm going to make us some breakfast. I'll wake you up when it's ready," you whisper, playing with his hair as he nods lazily.
You start to get up "Hey you're forgetting something," Eddie sounds more alert as he grabs your wrist and pulls you back to him, his eyes now fluttering open and puffy from sleep. He pursed his lips together in a kissing motion, you couldn't help but laugh to yourself as you pressed your lips against his, longingly. "Much better." The words were drawn out as he spoke, smiling to himself as he let you get up.
You pull out the eggs from the fridge along with the bacon and sausages, placing them down on the counter as the sound of loud music strikes a new life into you. Nearly jumping ten feet high, you walk over to the window and peek through the blinds, seeing Max's moms car drive away as the music begins to fade with it. Pursing your lips, you debate to yourself on what to do. Finally deciding to go to Max house after breakfast, if she will even open the door.. that is.
"My love," you sing as you enter Eddie's bedroom, he's now sitting on the edge of the bed rubbing the sleep from his eyes "breakfast is ready," you smirk, your eyes trailing from his face.. to his chest and ultimately to his boxers. "Is it you?" Eddie drawled out, letting a yawn escape his lips as he stretched out his arms and back
"Funny," you reply sarcastically as he extends his hand to you.. trying to grab your shirt but you're just out of reach. Stepping forward so you're closer, he pulls you into him so his face is against just below your breasts. "Can't we just lay in my bed forever?" He mumbles into you, his arms wrapped around your tightly. You play with his hair "If only," you sigh "What I'd do just to spend every night and morning with you." You frown to yourself, "one day." Eddie smiles into you.
"Shit! SHIT!" Eddie runs around frantically, checking the floor of the living room.. his bedroom and even the kitchen. "Whatchya looking for?" You beam in amusement, twirling your fork as you finish eating the breakfast you made "Well uh.." Eddie starts, still running around like a chicken with its head cut off. "I kind of... bought something, you know for just in case we.." he trailed off, stopping in his tracks as he raised his dark brows and motioned his head to the side
"Whatever do you mean?" You played dumb, leaning forward enjoying the show. "You know.." Eddie trails off again, "Oh.. condoms? Like blue box.. Trojan brand.. condoms?" You batted your lashes with a grin plastered on your face "Wait how do you-" He began in confusion as you pointed towards the couch with your fork in hand. Eddie walked over to the couch with a puzzled look etched on his face, you motioned your hand upwards and he slowly lifted the cushion. "Shouldn't leave them in the bag," you wink as you giggle to yourself.
Putting your plate and fork in the sink, "You're so evil, I thought my Uncle was going to end up finding them somewhere. Well that or I somehow got robbed of condoms and condoms only." He chuckled to himself with a shrug, tapping the box against the palm of his free hand. "Evil? No.." you scoff "I just like to mess with you." You taunt as you begin to wash the dishes. Shaking his head he walks off to his bedroom "these are going with the heavy metal mags," he chuckles to himself, waving the condoms around as his bed head bounces around.
"I'm going to go over to Max's for a minute, I'll be back soon." You push your feet into your doc martens, still wearing Eddie's motley Crüe shirt which is now tucked into your dark denim jeans "don't get lost," he teases, giving you a quick kiss as you open the trailer door. It's not like Max's trailer was far, it was basically right across from Eddie's but you didn't have much hope that she would actually answer so.. you had a plan b in mind, you know.. just in case.
Trying to peer in through the windows, you see nothing but closed blinds. Huffing to yourself as you run your hand through your hair.. you try to listen closely for any signs of existence and yet, nothing. You bring your hand up to the door, knocking loudly in three beats. You wait, wait some more and finally get fed up and go with plan B.
You round the trailer again to the one partially open window, prying it open more as you wipe your hands together and climb in.. making a huge thud as you hit the floor "Ow," you mutter to yourself. Rising to your feet to see Max peering out from her bedroom "Not an intruder, just me." You hold your hands up in peace then dust yourself off
"That was a little dramatic," Max crosses her arms over her chest as she walks towards you with headphones on, music so loud you can almost make out the words "Yeah well someone," you point to her "didn't open the door," you blow a stray hair out of your face as Max points to her head phones, rolling her ocean blue eyes as she slides the headphones off and presses stop on her mini cassette player.
"Wait wait wait - did you spend the night at.. Eddie's?" Max sounded like a gossiping school girl, her eyes lighting up in amusement as she adjusted one of her ginger braids "Maybe.."You trail off with purses lips, clasping your hands together innocently "Im not here about me anyways, what's going on with you? I'm getting worried," your tone drops as you speak, truly concerned for one of your closest friends.. or who use to be one of your closest friends at least.
Max keeps her arms crossed as she lightly shrugs her shoulders, "I don't know," she pauses, avoiding eye contact "Things have been.. chaotic." She nods to herself, "You don't have to let them be chaotic on your own," you match her tone, "I know it's just.." she shakes her head, biting her lower plump lip "I don't know how to talk about it."
You notice her eyes welling up, you pout to yourself as you take her into a hug "Then we don't have to talk about it. You can't just be in here day and night, avoiding life" you both pull away from the hug as she finally meets your eyes.
Again she nods, "It just kind of happened like that." Max admitted, fiddling with the cord to her headphones "How about after I'm done at Eddie's, I go change and then come pick you up?" You pose the offer with a welcoming smile, Max gives a faint smile "Deal, how about we just drive?" She asks nervously as you nod "Sounds good to me, though we are totally picking up food."
You laugh, poking Max's arm gently as she finally laughs herself. You head back towards the window "you can use the door you know," max gestures to the door "Nah, not as fun. I'll call you before I head back over." You grin wildly to yourself as you start climbing back out of the trailer.
"Honey, I'm home." You call out as you open Eddie's trailer door, hearing the water from the shower running. Going to the bathroom door, you slowly and quietly open it. Watching as Eddie sings Cherry Pie by Warrant to himself, swaying his hips left and right as his fingers massage his shampoo filled hair.
The glass on the door leaving a lot to the imagination, well sort of.. you've seen him naked plenty of times but you still couldn't help but stop and admire the view. Gently tapping the glass, you slide open the door an inch "Mind if I join?" You smile as you watch the water run down Eddie's face, his boyish grin making the water droplets drip from his lips "If be offended if you didn't, he laughed to himself as you tugged off your shirt and shorts then hopped in the shower, closing the steamed up beveled glass door behind you.
Your fingers dance around Eddie's chest, letting the warm water wash away the remaining tiredness that was hanging over you like overcast. Eddie's face was soft, content.. as he relished in the moment and the night before.
While you of course loved the sexual aspect of yours and Eddie's relationship, these moments filled you with an overwhelming sense of love and feeling whole. Like yours and his souls would dance together, sparking the perfect flame and you couldn't help but want this everyday, for the rest of your lives.
"Y/N.."Eddie trails off softly, breaking you from your thoughts as you lock eyes with him "I'm going to marry you one day." His lips curl upwards, stating like it was the most true fact in the world. Eddie's eyes soften as he cups your chin in his hands "I'm counting on it," you whisper up to him, meeting his lips with your own.
"Eddie, where's the damn —-"Eddie's uncle Wayne barges into the bathroom, silence taking over him as he realizes it's not just Eddie in the shower. You clumsily hide yourself behind Eddie, bringing your hand to your face as you shake your head
"Hey yeah, maybe try knocking next time." Eddie yells out, the water loud against your ears. "Sorry-I, Y/N.. I didn't know, I'm so sorry." Wayne's words got quieter as he shut the door, Eddie stifling a laugh and then erupting with a loud chuckle "What timing," You state, beginning to laugh yourself.
"Just adds to the fun," Eddie shrugs with a grin as you finish washing your hair "Yeah sure, except now I have to do the walk of shame." You finish washing the shampoo out of your hair and washing your body, still admiring Eddie's body and he clearly takes notice as he follows your line of vision "We will look back at this some day and laugh, besides.. I'm walking out there with pride." His eyes twinkle under the florescent lighting, swaying back and forth with his hands on your hips and his tongue trailing over his lip
"Of course you are," you poke fun, turning the shower off and shivering as a cold breeze sweeps across your neck. Feeling Eddie's lips press against the base of your neck, "Not fair," you mutter in a huff of breath "Come on, I had to sneak ONE in." He breaths out against your neck, you swirl around to look at him with narrowed eyes "Tease." You mumble, trying to hide your smile but ultimately failing.
You longingly press against Eddie's lips as you lean against your car door, "Call me tonight?" He questions though it comes out like a statement, you nod "Always." You press your lips against his once more, tapping your finger on his nose "Don't miss me too much," you giggle to yourself as Eddie opens your car door for you, "You know that's impossible," he chuckles.
Placing a small kiss on your forehead before you get into your car.
As you pull out of the driveway, you watch as Eddie waves goodbye and you wave back. A mental image forming in your memory that would last a lifetime, his curls now much softer (as there was no product in them), one of his many weathered white muscle tees glistening in the sun.. the sweet smile on his face. Oh that smile, it always made your heart beat twice as fast.
You unlock your door and enter your house quietly, tip toeing up the stairs but the old things creak louder than all hell. "Oh.. you're home." Your mother looks back at you from the living room, seated in "her spot" on the couch "Yeah um.. I'm going over to Max's." You say softly, eyes averting her gaze as you notice all the empty cans, bottles and paraphernalia spread around the living room. "Pick me up a six pack on the way back and if you come home tonight - I've got some... business to attend to."
Her words are barely even words anymore as she slurs, you nod quickly as a frown sweeps across your face. "I don't have any money," you nearly whisper, scared to speak any louder. "Speak up," her voice booms through the old- barely standing house as you jump in fear "I don't have any money," you pipe up a little louder "Of course you don't, do I have to do everything around here?"
Your mother scoffs in disgust as she tosses her purse to the bottom of the stairs, the contents spilling out everywhere. She didn't do much, in fact she rarely did anything at all these days. She found her ways of making money to support her habits, not by legal or child friendly means on any accounts. Instead you were the one having to work your life away to provide for yourself and your mom; to cover expenses and bills which only a parent should have to cover. You started cashing your pay cheques early, taking out money here and there.. saving up what you could in a well hidden place. Nearly having enough to move out of this god forsaken house that was never, ever a home.
You got changed as fast as you could, packing your overnight bag just in case. It's not like you enjoyed being home anyways, was never happy stepford family times but when your mom had business.. you liked being home even less. Some nights you'd sleep in your car, others you'd bounce between Max, Robins and Nancys house. You tried to avoid being a burden on Eddie as much as possible and you never wanted him to truly see just how bad things were at home for you. You knew he already worried about you enough and had no doubt he'd raise hell if he knew how chaotic things really were.
Pulling up to Max's trailer, the sunsetting over the horizon catching your eyes as you stop for a moment and take in the the cotton candy pink and somber orange hues on front of you.
Nearly jumping out of your seat as you hear knocks on the passenger side window, your eyes dart over to see Eddie leaning down.. losing his mind laughing. You turn off the car and climb out "Very funny," you shoot him an dirty look "Back so soon?" He rounded the front of the car to join you, doing a ridiculous walk.
"Sorry Eddie, you're going to have to manage on your own tonight."Max walks out of her trailer, her tone taunting yet monotone in nature "I get it -", he quips his head to the side, extending his fingers and moving them up and down "Girls night," Eddie put on a higher pitched voice as you roll your eyes, not being able to help the smile forming on your face. "It'll be okay," you pat his arm playfully, stepping on the tip of your toes to give him a kiss
"You guys are disgusting," Max laughs to herself, opening the passenger side door. Her hair still in the same neat braids as before, the headphones still around her neck. Now she was sporting an oversized red knitted sweater and light blue jeans.
"Gotta go," you whisper against Eddie's lips as you share a kiss. "Be safe," he nods to you as you get into the car, saying goodbye once again.
Driving around with max - no destination in mind whatsoever, you start to miss how reoccurring these moments use to be with her. You had been friends with her as long as you can remember, then that friend group slowly grew when you both became friends with Eleven.. or Jane. Whichever is easier to follow.
Everything changed when the last insanity of events hit Hawkins and resulted in Max's step brother Billy, sacrificing his life. They weren't close by any means, quite the opposite actually but that was still her family in some way or another, everyone was heavily effected by what had happened and each person had their own way of coping.. though you tend to push things to the back of your mind instead of coping at all. You didn't know all of the dirty details, only present for somethings and getting snippets here and there but it rocked your friend group, hard. In some ways, you were glad that you and Eddie were out of town that day.
"You two are really.. really official now, huh?" Max questions, breaking you from thought as you glance over at her with a soft smile "it's been a little over six months," you shrug to yourself, focusing on the road ahead and destination no where "Already? How has time went by so fast," Max sounded perplexed "You've been holding yourself hostage," You remind her with a side glance, she nods "I'm sorry," sincerity rings in her tone, her eyes darting back in forth as if she's thoroughly thinking through what she will say next "Don't be." You stop her, refusing to let her blame herself.
Max slams her head back against the head rest which promptly falls off as soon as her head hits it. She looks at you bewildered, you both smirk as you and Max break out into a roar of laughter - full on, side aching and eyes watering laughter.
Having to pull over to wipe the tears from your eyes due to laughing so much, you shake your head left and right as Max continues on with the laughing fit "I swear this car is breaking apart more and more every day," you laugh to yourself as you reach down and grab the fallen down head rest.. tossing it to the back seat, why even bother putting it back on.
"that house," Max's voice is concerned, in thought as she speaks. You follow her gaze to a rickety old abandoned house that has sat there empty and boarded up for god knows how long "It seems.. familiar. Like I've seen it before." Max narrows her deep blue eyes as her lips form a flat line "Well.. yeah, small town.. we see it nearly everyday." You say slowly in confusion, brows furrowed as you look back at the house.
The stained glass window on the front door shining from some type of light being reflected, though you were unable to pin point the source. "Let's go in," Max hastily opens the passenger side door "I'm all for exploring and adventures but I get caught trespassing one more time, it's going to stay on my record." You jump out of the car and hold your hands out to stop Maxine, trying to level with her. Being a buzzkill wasn't your thing, ever but having a record (well, more than some minor things..) was not something you wanted to risk. Especially if you wanted to keep your job.
Max looks from the house to you to back to the house in short glances. "What is going on?" You finally asked, the determination Max had on her face beginning to worry you. It's like a flip switched. "I've-I've been having nightmares and stuff, okay? And I swear this house has shown up in them multiple times." She kicks some rocks on the ground, fiddling with the cord of her headphones as she bows her head.
"Maybe your mind thinks of this house because it's so creepy," you try to suggest reasoning.. having had many strange occurrences through out your life as well. Max shakes her head left and right, her ginger braids swinging with "This is more than that, every time I see this house.. every time I have those nightmares - I get this.. gnawing sense of overwhelming doom." She grits her teeth as she speaks, trying to hold back tears or anger.. you weren't really sure which.
Taking her into a hug, her gaze doesn't break from the house "How about this.. if you still want to check out the house tomorrow we will go?" You offer, hoping it's a fleeting want from Max's mind come tomorrow. She nods slowly "Yeah.. yeah, ok." She draws in a deep breath as she walks back to the passenger side door "I say we get some food," you mention as she nods again "Sounds good." Max agrees in almost a whisper.
You climb back into the driver seat and start the car, the radio static so incredibly loud that both you and max had to quickly cover your ears. Turning down the radio, you and max exchange a silent glance. Looking at the house one last time, you see something in the attic window. It looked human.. but not. Like some type of.. creature and you could of swore you saw it move. You blink your eyes rapidly and the humanoid is gone, you take a breath and look at Max whose mindlessly playing with her headphones. Driving off, you look back once more.. What was that?
