The tone on the trailer was unsettling, you were all dressed in your best war gear with your makeshift weapons in hands. No one was saying anything, nothing needed to be said and that.. that was horrifying.
You all were thinking the same thing, this could very well be the end and not in the terms of shutting the upside down out forever but this was a true battle with real risks, scary risks. Some of you may not make it out and while sitting in that quiet trailer as Steve drove, you all had to get comfortable with that idea.
Max, Lucas and Erica were dropped off at the Creel house in your world. Hoping that between both worlds, he could be trapped and taken down.
You worried just as much for Max, Erica and Lucas as you did for Eddie, Robin, Dustin and Steve. You weren't even thinking about yourself anymore, the main goal was to save Max from Vecna's final attack and for Eddie to be cleared and the only way to do that was to end Vecna for good.
Eddies one hand gripped onto his homemade sword while his other hand held on tightly to yours, fiddling with your fingers. You could tell he was nervous, everyone was.. they just weren't saying it.
The sinking feeling in your chest getting worse as each second passed.
"Okay, let's go over the plan again.." Steve directs. Now parked by the trailer park.
"Phase one, meet Erica at the playground. She will signal Max and Lucas when we're ready," Robin speaks up
"Phase two, Max baits Vecna. He will go after her which puts him in his trance." Dustin holds up two fingers, speaking matter of factly.
"Phase three, Eddie and I draw the bats away," you give a small smile as you talk.
"Four. Dustin, Robin and I head into Vecnas Newly bat free lair and.." Steve trails off "Flambé," Robin holds up a Molotov.
"Nobody moves onto the next phase until we've all copied. Nobody deviates from the plan, no matter what. Got it?" You state firmly, praying that everyone truly sticks to the phases.. that you all stay on the same page because as soon as someone veers off track.. it's not going to be good.
The four of you enter the trailer park to go back through the gate, being as quiet and as sneaky as possible as Steve opens up Eddie's trailer. The rope still hanging through both worlds like it had been previously.
Steve climbs through first, then Robin, then you and then Eddie. Throwing your weapons in after each person has landed safely and moved from the mattress.
You all walk outside of the trailer in the other world, looking around to see the grim, dark earth once again.
"Hey guys listen. If things here start to go south, I mean, at all, you abort. Okay? Draw the attention of the bats, keep 'em busy for a minute or two. We'll take care of Vecna." Steve says sternly, looking from Eddie to you
"Don't try to be cute or be a hero or something," He's snarky but cautious. "Okay? You guys are just," he begins "Decoys," Eddie interjects "Don't worry, you can be the hero Steve," you give the same snark back "Absolutely. I mean, look at us. We are not heroes," Eddie looks at you with a grin as he talks about the two of you.
"Be careful, all of you," you say as Dustin, Robin and Steve head for Vecnas lair. "Aye aye, Mrs. Munson." Steve retorts with a soldiers salute.
"Hey, Steve?" Eddie steps forward as Steve turns around "Make him pay," Eddie says quietly, both nodding to each other in understanding.
You watch as the three of them walk away, now it's just you and Eddie left to distract the bats. "Let's do this," Eddie was brave as he spoke but you knew behind that facade he was scared just as much as you were.
Most of the time was spent bat proofing the trailer as much as the both of you could but how does one bat proof against demonic bats, exactly? Either way: you were praying it would be enough. That this wasn't all for nothing.
Luckily and somehow magically, all the drilling and banging of bat proofing didn't get the bats attention. So far, everything was going according to plan.
Now it was just waiting to move to phase three.
"It's your time to shine," Robins voice crackles over the radio, picking it up as you give a small nod to ensure "Copy, phase three.. here we go." You take in a deep breath.
Entering his room, Eddie pulls down his guitar "It's like she was destined for an alternate dimension," he murmurs to himself, his fingers gently strumming over the cords.
"What do you say, princess. Are you ready for the most metal concert in the history of the world?" His grin nearly reaches from ear to ear as Eddie bends his knees so he matches your height,
"Remember," you begin as his lips press against yours passionately "Follow the plan, I know baby." You kiss once more, "I love you," your eyes start to tear up again, managing a fragile smile "I love you." His smile line deepens, his lips curling upwards and radiating a sense of comfort that you really needed right now.
"Alright," Eddie swings his guitar over his back "let's do this."
You plug the amp into an extension cord running from inside the trailer, then plugging all the cords into the amp as Eddie hooks up his guitar.
"Rock this world, babe." You yell to Eddie, watching as he draws in a breath "This world won't know what hit it," His eyes light up as he turns to his guitar, his fingers going from chord to chord at such a fast pace that you can barely keep up.
The electrifying sound of the guitar sounding so smooth and clean as Eddie plays Master of Puppets. It was so loud and the amp vibrated so much that the trailer was shaking and you knew it wouldn't be long before the bats came for the both of you.
If this was any other moment in your life, one where you weren't in an alternate dimension surrounded by things that wanted to kill you, you'd be in awe. Watching Eddie play so skillfully, so into it like this was the greatest show of his life.
How the thunder and lightning in the upside down matched perfectly with the strikes of the guitar, the two blending perfectly together in a beautiful - metal, harmony. It was ironically, otherworldly.
Something you could only make up in a dream. I guess considering you were in another world, it made sense.
Eddies head swung back, living in the moment as he shredded on the guitar, his dark brown hair blowing around with the wind but the skull bandana wrapped around his head keeping his hair in place.
Was this a bad time to admire the mystique beauty that is Eddie Munson? To realize just how in love you were with not just him but his entire being, his soul, his aura.. whatever it is. You are so deeply in love with every little thing about him.
"We got thirty seconds left, TOPS!" You yell to him over the amp that's beside you, He gives you a nod as he plays his heart out like his life depends on it.. which in a sense, it does.
This seemed to be a release for him, he looked… free. In every sense of the word. Like the weights on his shoulders were slowly melting off.
"Eddie we got to move!" You yell over the guitar, a high pitched noise radiating through out the air as he swings the guitar off his back. The both of you watching the incoming colony of demonic bats.
Eddie helps you off the trailers roof as he jumps down after you, swinging open the trailer door so fast you're surprised it didn't bust the frame.
Both of your guys adrenaline was through the roof "That was the most amazing and hottest thing, I've ever seen. Screw Slash, Make way for Munson."
. "Thanks princess," Eddie is out of breath as he talks, his mouth warm as it presses deeply against yours. You break from the loving kiss, Hearing the bats getting closer and swarming the trailer.
You stand back to back, not knowing just how well you protected the trailer and only able to find out if the bats weren't able to get in,
"I.. I don't think I ever told you, you know when we started talking, like.. really talking? Not that avoiding bullshit," Eddie was beginning to ramble, to try and distract both of you
"Like it was yesterday," a small smile takes your face "Well uh, I kind of use to put myself in your path intentionally back then, so we had more time to talk. I tried to make it not seem obvious, maybe it was," He laughed in thought
"What?" You chuckle loudly, apparently blissfully unaware when such things were taking place "No, no way." You continue to chuckle, trying to figure out what scenarios this happened in.
"Well come on, had you ever seen me at a Journey concert or Bryan Adams concert before that?" You could practically hear him grin, he holds up his hand and makes his rings clack together "Not really my scene," he says, amused.
"I was like a lost little puppy, shit.. everyone probably thought I was pathetic." Eddie reflects as you both hear the bats tearing apart whatever they could outside.
"I'd ask Dustin, Robin or Max what you guys were up to, try to get some intel.. just on the off chance I could hang out with you." He tries to look at you over his shoulder.
"Why didn't you just.. oh I don't know. Wild idea, ask me to hang out?" You nearly snorted, it was the obvious move to make when wanting to see someone.
"I wanted to see what you were into, find out who you were. You know? I mean I already had a pretty good idea," he pauses as you both look up at the roof, hearing the demonic bats start to rip it up.
"I didn't think you were that into me, I wanted you to see me beyond what people said about me. Beyond Eddie the freak and whatever else they called me." Eddie spoke quieter now, you both knew there wasn't much time left before the bats got in.
"I never listened to what people said and I was so, so crazily into you. I'd get all giddy anytime I even caught a glimpse of you, I was so worried about saying or doing the wrong thing; looking like an idiot.. that I kinda psyched myself out whenever you were around." You recollect, still worried about making an idiot out of yourself even now.
"To me you were always this cool, untouchable guy. I wasn't terrified of you in the sense that you scared me.. but that you were so high above me that I could never be on your level. That I wouldn't even be a blip on your radar." You continued on, your backs leaning into each other like your way of giving one and other comfort in this moment.
"You were the only blip on my radar really and funny, I thought you were to cool for me. You were intimidating, had me rehearsing what I was going to say to you and shit." Eddie laughs lightly.
"I was shy okay, I didn't want you to think I was lame or dull or.. just a loonie girl who was crushing hard on you." Your bodies rotate together as the screeching noises outside start to break through the trailer,
"You were pretty loonie.. I'm kidding," it's a nervous chuckle Eddie let's put now "I thought you were perfect, still do" he gushed.
The two of you tighten your grips on your homemade weapons "Likewise, babe." You say "Ready for this?" He asks cautiously as you nod, watching as the demonic bats break through a vent in the trailers roof.
You and Eddie both swing at the bats in sync, they make loud thuds as their bodies come in contact with the weapons.
The sounds of their wings flapping making thunderous claps, you could barely hear yourself think and their screeching was sure to make your ears bleed.
Eddie took his makeshift shield with nails sticking out of it, stabbing it into the trailers roof where the vent cover had been pried off by the bats.
You're out of breath, huffing and puffing as you had put your all into ending the seemingly never ending group of bats.
You relax, realizing that you guys did it.. shit. "Is there any other vents in here?" You ask Eddie frantically as his brown eyes go wide, "Aw, fuck!" He yells.
Eddie makes a run towards the bathroom as a new slew of bats come flying towards the both of you "Jesus FUCKING CHRIST," his voice strains as he yells at the top of his lungs,
Here we go again.
