Chapter 3: Spock's wife
Spock was landing the space shuttle as smoothly as he could in the landing bay. "So, Commander, what exactly is wrong with the transporters?" Anna asked.
"We don't know. They just died, and nobody can figure out why," Scotty told the two of them. After they landed and it was safe to exit, Spock grabbed their luggage, and they all disembarked from the shuttle.
Captain Kirk and Dr. MCCoy were waiting for them. "Permission to come aboard, Captain?'' Spock asked. Jim noticed the tall, lean female Vulcan with him. He saw her dark brown eyes and the beautiful black hair that came down to her shoulders.
"Can we take you to your quarters?" Jim suggested.
"We would like that, Captain," Spock said.
"So, how was your vacation, Spock?" Jim asked with a smile.
"It was relaxing," Spock said, "I accomplished many things." Anna shook her head.
The group arrived at Spock's new quarters. Captain Kirk let them in. "Captain, I would like to look at the transporters. Maybe a fresh set of eyes can help?" Anna asked.
"Yes, of course," Jim said. "Scotty, will you show Commander Oshay to the Transporter room?"
"Yes, Captain. I have a question for you, commander. How did you and Spock get married? I know Mr. Spock said it was an arranged marriage, but is there more to the story?" Scotty asked.
"Just like it sounds. Spock's father and my mother thought it would be best if we were to wed," Anna told him.
Jim and Bones overheard the conversation that Scotty was having with Anna. After the two of them left, Bones asked, "So, you got married, Spock?"
"Yes, Dr. McCoy," Spock replied.
"Well, this is great. Now we will have two Vulcans that will go wacky when Pon Farr hits. No offence, Spock," Dr. McCoy said.
"No offence taken Dr. We both went through Pon Farr after our wedding. It was one of the reasons my father and Anna's mother wanted us to get married. The main reason, actually," Spock said.
"Okay, I just have to say, she is one hell of a looker Spock," Jim told his friend.
"Yes, she is very attractive," Spock replied, agreeing with Jim.
"You, don't remember her, Jim?" Spock asked his friend
"Should I?" Jim answered him.
"Lt. Savvik challenged her here on the Enterprise two years ago, and my wife Commander Oshay, paralyzed Lt. Savvik after telling Lt. Savvik that Commander Oshay was Vulcan and took off her shawl." Spock said.
Jim hit his hand to his forehead.
" Your wife is her, the one who knocked out Lt. Savvik. It took me two doses of anti paralyze heals to get Lt. Saavik back to normal. The regular dose is one dose. I could not believe how strong her grip was. Are there going to be little Spocks running around?" Bones asked, giving Spock a hard time.
"We don't know. I have to wait to see if it was a Successful Pon Farr and yes Dr. McCoy that is my wife who paralized Lt. Savvik," Spock stated.
While Jim and Bones were catching up with Spock, Anna and Scotty made their way to the transporter room.
"Okay, can I use this tricorder?" Anna asked.
"Be our guest, commander. We went through this with a fine-toothed comb, and everything checked out."
Anna had smelled that scent only a couple of times when she was young and living on Vulcan. "Wow, can anybody else smell that?" she asked.
"What smell, Commander?" the ensign asked.
"Of course, you can't smell it, because you are not Vulcan," Anna said. She noticed the markings in the corner of the room.
She walked to the wall behind the controls panel and hit scan. Anna had a feeling she knew what was wrong. She bent down and saw him, a baby Sehlat.
"Here is your problem, gentleman. It is a baby Sehlat, a young Vulcan's pet. Take a look here. It chewed the wiring," Anna said as she got up from the floor. "Commander Spock, may I get your assistance, please? I am in transporter room three. Bring the captain with you. I found the problem for the transporters." Anna asked her husband.
We are on our way, Commander," Spock said. "Let's go, gentleman," Spock led them out of his quarters and left for the transporter room. When they arrived, Spock's face was green from the smell. "That is a strong smell," Spock said.
"Spock, we can't smell anything," Jim said.
"That way." Anna pointed to the wall with the crawl space as she put her hand to her nose, trying to block the smell. Spock leaned down and saw a baby Sehlat.
"Now I know why my father never liked my Sehlat," Spock said as he looked at the little guy in the control panel. "How did he get here?" Spock asked. "You're Vulcan. You can take care of him."
"I was raised on Earth. If you remember Spock, I have no idea how to take care of them," Anna replied.
"I need a large animal crate with lettuce, onions and tomatoes. Put the vegetables in a large crate. Now, especially if you want the transporters fixed," Spock told the Lt. on duty.
"Yes, Commander," the Lt said before he went to get the crate.
The Lieutenant returned a few minutes later with the crate and the veggies inside of it. Spock looked inside the crate. "This is acceptable." Spock put down the crate and let out a large whistle through his teeth. The Sehlet, hearing the whistle, went into the crate, and the door shut behind the animal.
Spock looked at the little guy. "This is a baby Sehlat. Lots of Vulcan children have one as a pet. I used to have one when I was little," Spock said.
Anna slapped her forehead with her hands. "I remember one day you and I went hunting for one for you could keep as a pet. This was before I got taken away from Vulcan," Anna said, looking at her husband holding the crate.
"Yes, commander, I remember that day fondly," Spock said.
"Spock, are you telling us that is a pet for a Vulcan child?" McCoy said open-mouthed.
"Yes, Dr. McCoy, that is exactly what I am telling everybody. Humans have dogs and cats for pets. Vulcans have Sehlets. The question is how did this one end up on this ship?" Spock asked.
"How long until the transporters are running, Mr. Scott?" Spock asked him.
"About a half hour, and we will have it up and running," Scotty said.
"Would you like some help?" Anna asked Scotty.
"Would love some," Scotty replied. With Commander Oshay's assistance, the transporter was up and running in five minutes.
"All set," Commander Oshay said out loud. "It is working again. We can beam down to anywhere."
Spock put the crate on the transporter. He went to the control panel and entered a few coordinates. "You are not going to send him to your father?" Anna asked her husband with her eyes closed.
"Yes, Commander Oshay I am," Spock said, then he pulled the lever down until the baby Sehlet dematerialized.
"Well done on finding the problem with the transporters, but how did you know it was him causing the problem?" Spock asked as he approached his wife.
"Those, commander," she replied as she looked cross-eyed at her husband. "The baby Sehlat left his markings. Because of our enhanced sense of smell, I knew what the problem was right away." Everyone turned and saw the shelat droppings in the corner of the room.
"Okay, Scotty, you have some clean-up to do," Kirk told him.
"Yes, Captain." Spock and Anna along with Bones and Jim walked out of the transporter room.
"I definitely know why my father did not like my Shelat," Spock said. Spock and Anna looked at each other. "They are destructive little beasts."
