Ha! Gordon grinned with the success of iR's tech over the GDF's drone, watching the research station slowly rise after the lift bags inflated. Fast and efficient, it would take quite a lot for the robots to match their skill and gear and the aquanaut let himself feel a level of pride reserved solely for his family.
Until he saw it - the bomb - and in a split second he knew he didn't have the reflexes or time. The explosion hit, numbing his limbs with the pulse that tore to the bone, sending his 'bird front over end until she collided with something solid.
Darkness followed, his eyelids sluggish to move as an ache in his head began to grow with rising consciousness. He was moving - being moved - strong arms holding him close until he was deposited onto what he assumed was a firm mattress. A groan escaped and the hands that held him upright found his cheek, tapping at it encouragingly.
"Gords, you with me?" Virgil asked gently, worry sitting in his tone.
Amber peeked out from behind the sluggish lids, blinking away sparks of pain as light flooded his senses. His brother kept him steady until the blur of blue and green sharpened and Gordon looked up at him in confusion.
"What happened?" His hand came up to run over the distinctly sore spot on the side of his head. The lump that resided there gave him at least one clue.
"One of the Chaos Crew's charges went off and you were knocked out," Virgil began to explain, all the while running the medscanner over his head.
Gordon's heart stuttered at a memory and he locked onto the dark brown eyes observing him, "The scientists?"
"Shaken up, but they'll be okay." A smile tugged at Virgil's lips as he elaborated, "The robot got them to the surface before bringing Thunderbird 4 and you up."
A blonde brow rose at that, "It saved me?"
"It did," the appreciation was palpable. "Now, lay down. You've got a pretty severe concussion. I'll get you an ice pack and some pain reducers."
Doing as instructed, he let himself be guided to the pillow and the GDF's robot came into view beside the yellow sub. A grin spread over Gordon's face despite the headache, "Did I mention how much I love these things?"
"You don't say," his tone mocked, though Gordon was sure Virgil felt the same.
