Chapter Four: Spock's wife
All four of them were in the turbo lift when Bones said, "Commander Oshay, I have to clear you for duty."
"Spock, you are not on duty until tomorrow, correct?" Anna asked her husband.
"Dr. McCoy, would you mind if Spock accompanies me. I don't do well with new situations, and I would feel better if my husband accompanied me," Anna told the good doctor.
"Of course, let's go," Dr. McCoy said. Spock, Anna, and Dr. McCoy got out and went into Sickbay.
"Okay, Mrs. Commander Oshay, why don't you lie on the bed?" Bones said. Anna laid down on the medical bed. "First I am going to take some blood. We can test it for everything, and if it is the same type as Spock's then we can take a little of it for emergencies."
Anna took one look at her blood and fainted. "Anna," Spock said.
"She has fainted," Christine said.
McCoy finished taking the blood. "Christine, please get me the smelling salts."
"Yes, Dr.," Christine said. Christine gave Spock's shoulder a quick squeeze, trying to comfort him right now.
Dr. McCoy put the smelling salts under her nose. "What in god's name is that?" Anna asked as she shook her head to wake up.
"Welcome back," Bones said to Anna.
Spock let out a deep breath and kissed her on her forehead. "What happened?" Anna asked.
"You took one look at your blood and fainted," McCoy said.
"I did," Anna said.
"Yes, Anna, you did," Spock said to his wife.
Dr. McCoy did a body scan. "Do you have any concerns or questions?" Bones asked.
"Dr. McCoy, can you see if my reproductive system is functional?" Anna asked. "Spock, I know what your father said while we were down on Vulcan. I want to make sure he was right, and this thing or virus is not affecting me," Anna told her husband as she looked him in the eyes.
"I concur and completely agree with you, Anna. We need to ensure this virus did not affect you," Spock told her.
"What am I looking for, Spock?" Bones asked his friend.
"During our stay on Vulcan, we learned that the Vulcan women who live on Vulcan become infertile. They are trying to find out what causes this virus, but they had no success determining the cause. Please, Dr. McCoy, try to find out if my wife and I can procreate," Spock said as he looked into his friend's eyes.
"Of course, Spock." Bones said.
Christine came back a few minutes later and got the equipment ready. After a few minutes, everyone was up and looking at Pictures of Anna's reproductive system.
"Well, everything is normal, so I don't see any problems other than the usual ones that Vulcans have to deal with," Bones said. "If you want, we can set up an appointment to insert Spock's sperm into your uterus and hope you are with child."
Spock looked at his wife. He knew that if he did not succeed then they would have to try other techniques."
"We would like that very much, Dr. McCoy," Anna said out loud.
"Okay, how about next Tuesday at ten a.m?"
"That will work. Thank you, Dr. McCoy," Spock said.
"You are welcome, Spock, and if you talk to your father, please tell him that I will be able to review any information he has," Dr. McCoy told him. "I may be able to help them find a cause and solution."
"I will," Spock said.
Spock took Anna's hand, and they walked to the turbo lift. "Five," Spock said. He looked at his wife. "It will be fine, Anna. I promise you."
Spock wanted to kiss his wife, but he knew Vulcans did not show public affection. The turbo-lift opened, and Spock and Anna stepped out onto the bridge.
"Mr. Spock," Chekov said.
"Hello, Commander Chekov," Spock said.
"This is your last day of vacation, Mr. Spock. What are you doing on the bridge?" Jim asked his friend.
"Captain, we wanted to give you Anna's health report," Spock said.
Anna went over to Captain Kirk, who was sitting in the captain's chair and handed the medical report to him.
"I will give you an answer tomorrow. Until then, enjoy the rest of the day," Jim told them.
The two of them walked out of the bridge and went to their quarters.
