Chapter 5: Spock's wife

On Earth:

"Shawn, I can't believe my wife would do this to our own daughter," Admiral Oshay said.

"What did madam Teva do?" Shawn asked.

"She had our daughter marry Commander Spock, the Ambassador's son," Oshay said.

"Well, Anna is half Vulcan, is she not?" Shawn asked Admiral Oshay.

"Yes, she is, unfortunately." Oshay sat down in a chair. "But I have custody of her."

"Had custody of her. She is twenty-three years old, which means she is an adult, capable of making her own decisions. If I recall correctly, there was an agreement in the custody documents. You gave Teva permission to arrange a marriage when Anna became the Vulcan adult age," Shawn said.

"Well, yes, but I did not think she would actually do it," Adam said.

"Let it go, Adam. There is nothing you can do. It is best for everyone if you let this go," Shawn stated. Adam left his friend's office shaking his head.

Admiral Shawn Phillips was shaking his head. "I have to call Ambassador Sarek. There could be trouble," he said to himself. He got on his hail comm and punched in Ambassador Sarek's number.

"Admiral Phillips, is there a problem?" Teva asked.

"I need to speak to you and the Ambassador," Phillips replied.

"Hold on for one minute," Teva said.

A couple of minutes later, Serek appeared on the screen. "Admiral Phillips, is there a problem?" Sarek asked.

"Yes, Ambassador, I believe there is. Admiral Oshay is attempting to devise a plan to annul Anna's and Spock's marriage," Phillips replied.

"Could you reassign them to Vulcan to protect their marriage?" Teva asked.

"I could, but I heard there is a virus rendering Vulcan women infertile. Is that not correct? Anna would not be able to bear children," Phillips said.

"I have an idea. What if we built a space station surrounding Vulcan. Have it in Vulcan space so Spock and Anna would have their marriage protected while running the station. It would be a partnership between Starfleet and Vulcan," Sarek said.

"How long would it take to get the station ready for Starfleet and Vulcan personnel?" Shawn asked

"Between six months to a year. I will summon the Vulcan High Council to discuss the station plan.

It is for the future of our people. They will vote in our favor. We will have assistance for creating a vaccine," Sarek said before ending the call.

"I am sorry, Adam, but your daughter's marriage means a lot more than you think," Phillips said as he looked at the picture of him and his friend fishing.

Sarek and Teva went to the Vulcan High Council as soon as they broke off the hail. Together, they entered the grand hall. "Is the High Council available?" Ambassador Sarek asked.

"I will announce your arrival," the nice Vulcan receptionist replied. She left Sarek and Teva and disappeared inside the chambers. A few minutes later, she returned to announce, "They will see you, Ambassador."

Ambassador Sarek and Teva went into the great hall. "What is your business?"

"Vulcan High Council, I have a recommendation. I discussed our virus situation with Admiral Phillips. We concluded to place a scientific space station within Vulcan space. Young Vulcan and Starfleet scientists work together to discover a cure or vaccine for the virus," Sarek politely stated. "Spock and Commander Oshay are ideal for overseeing the process. Our people will provide a legion to assist."

"We will deliberate regarding this recommendation. The discussion will reconvene when we arrive at a decision," the High Council said.

"As you wish," Sarek replied. He left the grand hall with Teva following close behind. "We are getting lunch."

"Sir, will they be on board with this idea?" Teva asked. "I would enjoy having my daughter close. Though I am concerned our children will not like the space station."

"Yes, I agree. They will honor their duty to our people. Pon Farr has passed. We must remain patient. I will enjoy having our children close. My son sent me a baby Sehlat. On this station, they could keep the pet," Sarek replied. "It was unexpected that he sent you the baby Sehlat. I have gotten used to having it in my home."

"Ambassador Sarek, The Vulcan High Council will see you now," the office Vulcan lady said.

Sarek nodded and then once again entered the grand hall. "We have reviewed your proposal, and we have discussed it. We will agree to the terms. Vulcan will be more than willing to help Starfleet to build a space station."

"Thank you, I will inform them at once," Ambassador Sarek said. Both Sarek and Teva bowed and left the Vulcan High Council.

Both Ambassador Sarek and Teva went to his office. Sarek entered a few numbers, and then as if magic, Admiral Phillips answered. "Admiral Phillips, is this an inconvenient time?"

"No, not all, Ambassador Sarek. What can I do for you?"

"I am notifying you, The Vulcan High Council has agreed to build a scientific space station in Vulcan space."

"Excellent. I will schedule a trip to Vulcan for us to plan the space station," Phillips told Sarek.

"I find that acceptable," Sarek replied. "I will wait for your arrival." Sarek terminated the call.
