Chapter Eight: Spock's wife

"Commander Spock and Commander Oshay come on in, and let's talk," Admiral Phillips said. Spock and Anna sat in the chairs across from the Admiral's desk. They patiently waited for Phillips to begin their meeting.

"Starfleet and the Vulcans have reached a decision. We have partnered with the Vulcans and will build a scientific space station, specifically, a research station. We will work beside Vulcan and Starfleet Scientists to work on a cure for the virus plaguing Vulcan. The space station will contain every supply required. You two will work together on this station. It would provide accommodations to promote family growth. Commander Spock, you would get promoted to the rank of Captain. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I need an answer now. If it is no, then Vulcans would have the final say as to what would happen on the new station," Phillips explained.

Anna and Spock could almost read each other's minds. They were on the same wavelength of thought. "Admiral, we will accept your offer," Spock said.

"Yes, Admiral, we would be honored to accept the position, is what my husband is saying," Anna said.

"Very good. I will let your father, Captain Spock, know that you two are relocating closer to Vulcan. There is one more thing to discuss."

"I am taking a wild guess here, sir, and that would be about my father?" Anna asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, Commander, that is what we are going to talk about next," Phillips said.

"We spoke to my father about twenty minutes ago, Admiral Phillips. We made him aware that Spock and I are expecting our first child," Anna said.

"Our marriage became legal under Vulcan Law when my wife and I conceived our first child, Admiral. I will not divorce Anna. An annulment isn't logical because of our child. I would never like to see anything like that happen to Anna," Spock told the Admiral

"I am so relieved to hear that," Admiral Phillips said.

"Okay, I will start on the paperwork needed. Once it is ready, the both of you will have to sign your life away," Phillips joked with them. Anna chuckled at that. She knew it was a common saying on Earth when they signed a contract.

"Once the paperwork is signed, you will be reassigned to the space station. From what I hear, there are already people living on it," Phillips said.

"Thank you very much, Admiral Phillips," Anna said.

"You are very welcome, and you both deserve this. I wish both of you will have all the happiness in the world," Admiral Phillips said.

Spock helped his wife get up from the chair. They walked out of the office. When they were alone in the empty hallway, Spock gave Anna a quick hug. "Let's go to my apartment, and we can rest for a while," Spock told her.

"I would like that Spock," Anna replied. She was exhausted.

"Good." Spock let her go, and they walked out of the command office.

As soon as they exited the building, two men approached them from behind. "Spock," one man called out, hoping to get his attention.

"Anna," Spock said, silently asking her to move to safety. Spock quickly turned and got behind the man. He used the Vulcan grip, causing the man to fall to the ground in a heartbeat.

"Drop it," Kirk said as he appeared behind the second guy, who held a phaser to Anna's head. The guy wisely dropped the phaser. Captain Kirk got on his comm and said, "This is Captain Kirk. I need security to the command building now."

"Yes, sir. Captain, we are on our way."

Jim and Bones came up to their friends. Jim looked at Spock and had only seen that look in his eyes on one other occasion. The time when he fought another Vulcan. Spock walked up to his wife. He put his forehead to hers and held her until she stopped shaking.

"Spock, how long do we have to wait until we can get to that space station?" Anna asked him.

"Too long," Spock told her softly. A few minutes later, security approached and arrested those men for the attempted kidnapping of two-star fleet officers.

"Come this way," Spock said, and everybody followed Spock into his apartment. When the four of them entered Spock's apartment, Spock closed and locked the door. He walked up to his wife and hugged her. "I am going to rest, Spock. Don't worry, I will find the bedroom," Anna said. She released him from their embrace and went into their bedroom.
