Chapter 9: Spock's Wife
"Spock, do you think Admiral Oshay tried to kidnap you and Anna?" Kirk asked his friend. Spock sat down on a stool that he used for meditation in the evening.
"I think so, Jim. If we are correct, then we are in more danger here than on the Enterprise. What would happen if you didn't arrive in time to assist?"
"Spock, do not think that way. Do not go there," McCoy told him.
"Brandy anyone?" Spock asked. He knew that he would not be able to get drunk, but he should offer some to his friends. Just then, Spock's comm went off in his living room. "Yes," Spock said.
"Spock, are you and your wife okay?" Admiral Phillips asked, concern evident in his voice.
"Yes, Admiral Phillips, we are fine. Anna is a little shaken, but it is understandable," Spock told him.
"I just got off the communications with security, and those two men are singing big time. They are talking. Spock, they say Admiral Oshay wanted to kidnap you both and make Anna terminate the pregnancy. We can suspend him for at least three months. Also, one of the security officers will arrive with a Starfleet restraining order. Admiral Oshay will not be able to go within fifty yards of you or your family. It is valid for four years, and I will deliver it to you personally, Spock. I have the paperwork prepared. If you are agreeable, I would like you to sign it now. Then you and your wife can hitch a ride with the Enterprise and head to the space station. Once you and your wife are in Vulcan space, Spock, you will be more protected because you and Anna are citizens of Vulcan."
"Thank you, Admiral Phillips. We will be here," Spock said, then clicked the hail screen off.
"Spock, what station?" Jim asked, wanting to know what was going on.
"The space station that the High Vulcan Council and Spock's father are building with Starfleet. It will be a research station. There are already Vulcan scientists and their families there. We will be working with them along with Starfleet Scientists to try to find a cure for this virus," Anna said as she sat beside Spock. She tried to take a sip of his brandy, but he looked at her.
"But Spock, that means you have to have the rank of Captain." Bones said.
"Yes, Dr. McCoy. Admiral Phillips offered me a promotion to Captain, so I can help my wife run the station," Spock told them.
The four of them just sat in silence, taking this whole conversation in and processing it.
An hour later, the four of them heard a beep. Spock kissed his wife on the top of the head and then checked the screen by the door. Spock unlocked it and let Admiral Phillps in.
"The Starfleet Restraining Order was handed to Admiral Oshay an hour ago. He was not happy, but since he put your family life in danger, he had no choice but to accept it. He also has been suspended from active duty for three months. Here is the paperwork for you and your wife's transfer, and the paperwork for your promotion to Captain."
Anna walked by Spock's side, and the two read the paperwork. It was all there. Spock took a pen and signed his, and Anna signed hers. The two handed the paperwork back to Admiral Phillips.
"Admiral, how long is the restraining order in effect for?" Anna asked
"Four years, which is the maximum time, until a new order is requested. He also does not know where you and your family are going yet, so we have that advantage, but he will find out, "Phillips told everyone in the room. "Captain Kirk, and Dr. McCoy, I would like the both of you to stay the night. It is either them or two security officers."
"We will take Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy tonight," Anna told the admiral.
"Thank you." Phillips took back the paperwork and left them.
After Admiral Phillips left, Jim asked, "Spock, why some much security?"
"Because we conceived, Jim, and because of the virus. Vulcans are having difficulty conceiving right now because of the virus. If we do not find a cure for this virus, our race could die out. Also, our son or daughter will be the first Vulcan born in ten years," Anna said.
"Okay, we follow you now," Jim said.
"Now for sleeping arrangements. There is one spare room with a twin bed in it," Spock said.
"Bones, I am taking it because I outrank you," Jim said. "Don't worry, Spock, tomorrow we will be on our way to Vulcan," Jim added and then found his way to the guest room.
Spock went to his closet and took out a black and silver quilt. "Here you go, Dr," Spock said.
"It is as thin as a piece of paper," Bones said.
"If you don't want it, I can put it back," Spock said while toying with his friend a little. Bones grabbed the quilt from Spock. "Good night, Dr.," Spock said with a small smile. He helped Anna up from her stool, and they walked into their bedroom for the night.
When Anna and Spock were in their room, Spock took out his phaser and put it on his bedside table. Anna looked at her husband and then at his phaser. "It is just for tonight, I promise," Spock told her. He went into the master bedroom and changed. Once changed, he got into bed with his wife. She curled up and into his arms.
