Chapter 11: Spock's Wife

Spock woke up to an empty bed in the morning. When he got up, he remembered what his wife told him about Lt. Tarvic. He grabbed his communicator, "Dr. McCoy can you come to my quarters please I have a question for you?"

"Of course, Mr. Spock," Bones stated

The buzzer alarmed. "Come in," Anna said.

"Well, I don't know why I am here because you look like you are glowing," Bones said to Commander Oshay.

"Thank you, Doctor," Anna said. Spock came up to her in Vulcan pants with no shirt.

"Doctor is Lt. Tarvic in Pon Farr? When I arrived at my quarters last night, he was in the corridor outside my door. He wanted to come in and be with my wife," Spock told him.

"He did not tell me, and even if he had, I could not tell you," Dr. McCoy said.

"Dr. McCoy, you know any Vulcan in Pon Farr must notify the chief medical officer. Did you receive a notification from Lt. Tarvic?" Spock asked

"I am aware of that, Spock, but I can't tell you. It is confidential," Dr. McCoy said. He got annoyed that Spock pushed the issue.

Just then, they were at Spock's door answering the buzzer. "Who is it?" Spock asked.

'Lt. Tarvic. I was wondering if I could come in to talk to Commander Oshay," he replied.

Spock went to his door and opened it to his unexpected guest. "Lt. Tarvic, can you please stop these visits? I don't want you to upset my wife."

"Commander Oshay is your wife? Captain, I am sorry I did not know," Lt. Tarvic said and then left.

Spock went back into his quarters, "I see what you mean," Dr. McCoy replied to Spock.

"What can I do to discontinue his behavior?" Spock asked.

"Is Spock expressing some frustration?" McCoy joked. Spock shook his head.

Anna came up by Spock's side. "Hey, Spock, relax. You are on leave, and you do not have any active duties, right? So let's take a few deep breaths. Or Better yet, why don't you meditate before you get breakfast?" Anna suggested to her husband.

"Yes, I think I better," Spock said, and he went into the bedroom to do some meditation.

"I will summon Lt. Tarvic to sickbay and talk to him," McCoy said. He got up and then left Spock and Anna's quarters. Anna hoped Dr. McCoy would manage the issue with Lt. Tarvic. She was tired of him arriving outside her door.

McCoy shook his head and went to sick bay. When he got there, he saw his nurse inside. "Nurse Chapel, contact Lt. Tarvic and have him report to sickbay."

"Yes, Dr. McCoy," she replied. The nurse paged the lieutenant's quarters and requested he reports to sickbay immediately.

A few minutes later, Lt. Tarvic came in and asked, "You wanted to talk to me?"

"Yes, Lt. Tarvic. Are you aware that Starfleet regulations require you to report to the chief medical officer when you are in Pon Farr?" Dr. McCoy asked him.

"Yes, sir, and I am indeed in Pon Farr. It is the reason I wish to talk to Commander Oshay and see if she will have sex with me, Dr.," Lt. Tarvic told Dr. McCoy.

"Captain Spock is married to Commander Oshay and expecting a baby. Lt. Tarvic, this means you will maintain distance from Commander Oshay. Failure to follow my orders will get you reported to Starfleet," Dr. McCoy told him. "That is an order, Lt. Tarvic. Stay away from Commander Oshay and Captain Spock's living quarters. You are to work your shift. Manage Pon Farr without Commander Oshay."

"Yes, sir, Doctor McCoy," Lt. Tarvic said and then left.

Doctor McCoy went to his comm unit. He hit a few numbers and the comm unit in Spock's quarters sounded. "Yes, Doctor," Spock said.

"Spock, you were right about Lt. Tarvic. I suggest you remain with Anna until we get to that space station," Bones told him.

"Thank you, Doctor." Spock looked at his wife. "Come on. It is okay. Let's go and rest for a while." Spock helped Anna up from her chair, and the two of them went to bed to rest. While cuddled in their bed, Spock touched Anna's growing baby bump. "I felt the baby kick," Spock said with raised eyebrows.

"I know the baby has been doing that a lot lately," Anna said. "We should think of some names for the baby."

"What about Avarek for a boy and Irea for a girl?" Spock asked softly to her.

"Then Avarek or Irea will be your name," Anna said as she put her hand on top of Spock's hand. "Spock, we should tell your father and my mother that we are expecting."

"We should, yes, and we will also tell them that we are on our way to the space station," Spock said. Spock put on one of his Vulcan shirts, and they went into the living room where the hail button panel was located.

"Spock and Anna, how are you two?" Teva asked. She was hoping that this call was some good news.

"Is my father available? We have information to share," Spock said. Traditionally, the male Vulcans were required to inform the family of a pending birth and the child's name.

"Spock," Sarek said as he did the Vulcan salute. Spock returned the greeting.

"Father, and Madam Teva, we are expecting. Our son will be called Avarek or our daughter will be called Irea," Spock announced.

"As humans say, congratulations," Teva said.

Noticing his father looked rather pale, Spock asked, "Father, are you well?"

"I am well, considering my age," Sarek replied. "I am pleased with your progress, Spock. I know your vessel is heading toward the space station. Expect me to provide a tour upon your arrival." Sarek disconnected the hail.

"That went better than I expected," Anna said, turning to face Spock.

"I must agree," he replied.
