Oblivious

There's a running joke somewhere here, well more like Mike doesn't understand what's going on. He tends to hang out a lot with his girlfriend, El, and his best friend Will. They all go to the movies together - which might seem weird to Mike because he wonders why Will wants to third wheel with them. They go out to the diner and to eat together and he knows that Will and El are siblings now and that they like to hang out with each other.

Mike thinks it's weird because of how much El and Will are sitting together on one side of the bench, heads together talking about something. He's confused but he isn't jealous about El and Will being close as well. It's expected after the time they lived together in California and now together in Hawkins. It's just he has siblings too and he's never been close like that. He's not jealous at all.

He's playing D&D with the party. El is hanging out with Max as a girls' night out or something like that. He knows that El isn't really into D&D. The party is leaving except for Will. Will tends to hang back to help clean up and they were going to have a slumber party together. He likes hanging out with Will even though he hasn't been paying too much attention to Will at the time. But then they came back to Hawkins to defeat Vecna and the Upside Down gates were closed. He remembered the car ride back to Hawkins, where El asked Will to paint a painting for them. And now here they all are together again. He feels bad that he withdrew from Will and he thought this slumber party would help Will feel at ease again.

Even though they are both in the basement watching a film together he's getting sleepy and he can feel Will stroking his feet. He ended up falling asleep like that and not saying anything to Will at all.

Mike is not trying to freak out at all. He doesn't think that what he was doing was cheating on El because Will was the one stroking his feet while he fell asleep. He's only freaking out because it's Will. His best friend. The one that he wanted them to go crazy together and yet he also loves El.

He's confused.

"Will, what happened during the slumber party," El asked him while they were sitting together on his bed.

"Maybe, I stroked his feet with my own feet while watching the film, but he fell asleep on me. Why?" He asked El.

"Mike is freaking out," El responded. "Do you think he knows?" She asked Will.

"No, I think we need to make it more obvious to Mike" he responded.

They both smiled at each other and decided the perfect way make it more obvious was at the dance.

So Mike ended up not spending any time with Will or El after the incident. He needed time to think and he completely forgot the dance was coming rather soon. He had to eventually pick up El and Will was tagging along again.

"El," Mike whispered to her, "why is Will here?" He was trying to keep this quiet because he didn't want Will to know he was talking about him. They ended up going together to the dance.

El turns to Will and looks at him because they both need to explain this to Mike. Mike didn't realize this part. That they were all together.

"Mike, I love you, and you love me, and you love Will and he loves you and I love Will like a sibling and he loves me like a sibling," she responded to him.

"Wait what?" Mike responded confusingly. He doesn't understand at all. He doesn't understand how El could be staring at him with a smile on her face and Will coming near them to dance with El.

"Mike, you're my boyfriend, and you're Will's boyfriend. After the dance, let's get a milkshake to discuss this," she said before Will pulled her away to dance.

They ended up going to the diner that they usually go with to get a milkshake. Will and El ended up sitting together on the bench and also he felt both of them placing their feet across from him.

Mike never realized this but all his freaking out is starting to ease away.

They ended up sharing a milkshake.

Yeah, Mike realized that he's okay right now. That he can do this. He just wondered when Will and El would decide this because he never realized that he was in a relationship with both of them.

He's going to go see where this would take him because at least he's not cheating on anyone and everyone is happy.

(He ended up realizing all those dates that Will hung out with were dates).

How did he not realize that he was in a three-way relationship?

At least they are happy right now and that's all that Mike cares about.
