Chapter 1: Celebrating Isane Kotetsu's Birthday
Kiyone was getting ready to take her big sister out shopping with Izaya and his friends. She was really excited that she forgot to brush her hair. She only patted it as she gave herself a thumbs up in the mirror and smiled and walked off. She saw her sister going to get something to eat as everyone wished her a 'happy birthday.' Kiyone smiled as she walked up to Isane.
"Hey sis! Happy birthday~!" Kiyone said very happily to her as she hugged her.
"Hey you~! Thank you. Got any plans for me today~?" Isane asked Kiyone as she brushed her hair.
"I wanna take you out shopping today~! I'll buy you whatever you want.~ Captain Unohana can come too~!" Kiyone said happily.
Isane gasped happily, "Captain, would you like to come with us?" Isane asked as she held onto her captain's hands.
"Of course. Let's eat first then we'll go to the world of the living to look around." Unohana said as she smiled at Isane and Kiyone.
"Thank you so much, captain~!" The two sisters said as they grabbed their food and sat down to eat.
Once they were done, they went back to their rooms to wash up again as Kiyone brushed her hair this time. She then gasped when she saw her captain in the doorway.
"C-Captain! How long have you been standing there?" Kiyone asked as she blushed.
"Oh just for two seconds. Here I want you to give this to your sister. It's a birthday card from all of us.~" Captain Ukitake chuckled as he patted Kiyone's hair.
Kiyone took the card as she smiled at him. "Will do, captain. Also please take it easy today. I don't wanna come back and see you all covered in ice packs and bandages." Kiyone said as she giggled.
"Don't worry. My love, Shunsui is here to take good care of me.~" Captain Ukitake said as he smiled at his lieutenant.
"Alrighty. I should get going now. But thank you for the card, I'll make sure my big sister will have it.~" Kiyone said as she hugged her captain and walked off.
Captain Ukitake hugged her back and smiled as he waved at her. "Stay safe~!"
Kiyone smiled at him as she caught up with her sister and Captain Unohana.
"Oh good, she's here. Are you two ready to go?" Captain Unohana asked them as she smiled.
"We are. Oh here sis, it's from my captain. And probably everyone else." Kiyone said as she smiled, giving Isane the card to her.
Isane smiled as she took it and read it. She gasped when she saw everyone's names and wished her a 'happy birthday' once more.
"I'll thank them once we get back. Thank you sis. Let's head to the mall." Isane said as her captain opened the gate. They all walked in.
The gate opened again as Yoko looked up, she gasped when she saw three figures walk out and come down. Yoko's jaw dropped.
"Whoa. It's been so long, I've been here. Well the park is still the same as always." Kiyone said as she covered her forehead to protect her eyes from the sun.
"You're right. And look there's the mall. Let's head inside and see what they have.~" Isane said as she held onto Unohana's hand.
"Oh excuse me." Unohana said as she smiled at Yoko, accidentally bumping into her.
"Hey, wait loves. I just saw y'all walking out of the sky. Are y'all angels?" Yoko asked. Forgetting what Izaya told her.
"She can see us?" Kiyone whispered to her big sister.
"We're in our gigai. Of course, she can see us." Isane said to Kiyone as she smiled.
"We're soul reapers, dear one." Unohana replied to Yoko.
"Oh duh! Another friend of mine explained it to me." Yoko said as she laughed, slapping her forehead.
"Who is it? Is it Izaya Kuchiki? We want to see him! It's been so long~!" Kiyone said happily.
"Yes! He's actually inside the mall with my girlfriend and her friends. I'll come inside in a bit. I'm just treating this poor cat who's been hit by a car so I'm treating him." Yoko said as she kneeled back down and finished wrapping his paw.
"You're so kind. And thank you. We'll let Izaya know that we saw you, Miss-?" Unohana tilted her head.
"Ah, my name's Yoko Rie. I'm from England. So if I say 'Love' A lot, it's how I talk.~" Yoko said as she shook their hands.
"No worries, we love meeting Izaya's new friends." Kiyone said happily as she hugged her sister.
"Awesome~! You guys seem pretty chill. Anyways this cat is treated so I'm going to find his home and return him to his family. He's lucky he didn't get fully ran over or else he would have passed. But I was here to save him right away." Yoko said as she held him.
"Bless you. We'll be seeing you around, are you ready, birthday girl~?" Unohana asked as she rubbed her nose onto Isane's nose and smiled.
"Of course I am captain.~ Let's see if they have any new dresses or crop tops.~" Isane said as she blushed.
"Oh today's your birthday? Happy birthday~! Izaya will be bouncing off the walls if he hears this." Yoko said as she giggled.
"Hear what~?" Izaya said as he was licking a popsicle. "Hey guys what's up?" Izaya smiled at the three ladies.
"Izaya~! Hi~!" Kiyone walked up to him and smiled.
"Hey you~! It's been so long I've seen you, Kiyone. How are you?" Izaya asked her as he patted her hair.
"I'm great~! And today's my sister's birthday~!" Kiyone said happily.
Isane blushed as she covered her face in embarrassment. "Kiyone~!"
"Happy birthday, Isane. I'm sorry I haven't been visiting y'all in months. I've been busy busy busy and Yoko is here looking for a job to save animals, so I've been helping her with that." Izaya explained as he smiled.
"All is well, Izaya. You're a good soul helping your friends to reach their careers." Unohana said as she smiled at them.
Both Izaya & Yoko smiled back at her.
"Oh Captain, is it okay if Yoko can visit the soul society? Please.~" Izaya begged.
"I'm a human. So I don't have any special powers or anything. Besides seeing ghosts." Yoko said as she smiled at them.
"Izaya, we'll have to think about it. But we'll let you know what the head captain says." Unohana said as she tried not to sound too concerning.
Izaya frowned a bit. He felt like he broke the rule when Giselle snuck in the soul society not once but twice and things went bonkers. So he feels like they're having trust issues again.
"Thank you captain. I hope you ladies have a fun time shopping." Izaya said to them as he smiled.
"Love, I'm going to return this cat to his rightful owner. Tell Giselle that I'll be back here in ten minutes." Yoko told him.
Unohana, Isane, and Kiyone tilted their heads. Then they looked at each other.
"Of course, bestie. I'll let her know." Izaya told Yoko as he smiled.
Yoko smiled and walked off to find the cat's owner. Then Izaya looked at the ladies and he smiled at them.
"Izaya, is she a human dating a sternritter?" Isane asked in concern.
"Yes. I'm a half soul reaper who's married to a human." Izaya said to them as he smiled.
"Wait wait wait, 'half'? Are you half human or hollow?" Kiyone asked as she tilted her head.
Izaya's smile faded away. He only told Rukia, Ichigo, Byakuya, & Keigo that his adopted parent was a sternritter and his birth parents were humans. He never told anyone else. So he shook his head to Kiyone.
"Nevermind. Please enjoy your birthday, Isane. I'll be inside a little later." Izaya said as he threw away the popsicle and waved at them and walked off.
Unohana nodded at him as she waited for Izaya to be fully gone and she sighed.
"What's the matter, captain?" Isane asked in concern.
"I don't mind Izaya being friends with hollows, the sternritters, or humans. But when he said 'half' soul reaper, I feel like there's something he's not telling us." Unohana said as she sighed.
"Captain, are you going to find out by exposing him?" Isane asked in concern.
"No. I'll try and talk to his brother. I don't have a problem with it. But I'm just a little concerned for Izaya. But I know he won't ever betray us. Anyways let's-" Unohana got interrupted when Yoko came back.
"Hey loves. I'm back. Ready to head inside?" Yoko asked them as she smiled.
"Of course~! Let's head inside, Yoko~!" Kiyone said as she grabbed oneto her arm and the two ran inside.
Isane and Unohana giggled as they held hands and walked in behind them. They shopped for about one and a half hour. Izaya came back with Keigo as they shopped around for a while too.
Unohana, Isane, and Kiyone grabbed something to eat as they saw Izaya talking to every sternritter he's friends with.
"Sweetie, please don't worry about them. Izaya is a soul reaper, he'll do something if they try to do anything funny." Isane whispered to Unohana.
"I know love, I'm just a little worried is all." Unohana said as she rubbed Isane's cheek.
After another hour, Izaya and his friends left the mall. He said his 'goodbyes' to Yoko, Giselle, Bambietta, & Nianzol. They left the mall as Unohana opened the gate and they all headed back to the soul society.
Kiyone gave Unohana a blindfold as she grinned at her and ran off. "I'll meet you guys there~!"
Isane blushed when Unohana covered her eyes with the blindfold and walked her to her surprise party.
"Isane, what are you wishing for?" Unohana asked her as she smiled, leaning close to Isane.
"Just a really good night, with you of course captain.~" Isane said as she smiled at her.
"It'll be a perfect night for us then.~" Unohana said as she arrived at the door and opened it.
Someone held it open as both Unohana & Isane walked in. Unohana took off the blindfold as Isane gasped seeing the party decorations. Then everyone jumped up and shouted: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ISANE KOTETSU!"
Isane gasped as she laughed, "Awwww, thank you all so much~! I really love this."
"We wouldn't miss it for the world, sis~!" Kiyone said as she smiled and hugged Isane.
"Thank you so much, lil sis. You made me very happy." Isane said as she leaned close to her and kissed her cheek.
Kiyone blushed and smiled as she walked her sister to the cake & ice cream table.
"Here sis, we have your favorites." Kiyone said as she smiled.
"Thank you sis, I'll be sure to eat them all. Hahaha, everyone else can have some too." Isane said as she smiled and got a slice of cake.
Unohana saw Byakuya by himself at the koi pond. She walked up to him.
"Good evening, Captain Kuchiki." Captain Unohana said as she walked up to him.
"Hello, Captain Unohana." Captain Kuchiki said as he made more for Captain Unohana to sit down on the bench.
"Thank you. Captain Kuchiki, may I ask you something? It's about your brother, Izaya Kuchiki." Captain Unohana said as she sighed.
Byakuya's eyes widened as he looked at Unohana. "Did something happen to him? Did you see him today?"
"Whoa, Captain Kuchiki, please don't be alarmed. I saw him today and he's doing great." Captain Unohana said as she smiled.
Byakuya sighed with relief. "I have been video calling him, I'm still learning how to use this device."
Unohana smiled and giggled. "But Captain Kuchiki, Izaya told us that he's 'half' soul reaper. Can you tell me what he means by that?"
"Before we took him into the Kuchiki clan, Izaya had human parents but when they abandoned him, Izaya jumped from home to home till a young gentleman took him in. This adopted parent was a sternritter. He tried to train Izaya to be like them, but the plan failed. Izaya escaped and was saved by Rukia. So now he considers himself half soul reaper because he's technically human." Byakuya explained without taking a breather.
Unohana nodded, as she understood everything now. "Thank you for telling me. I meet his new friend today. She's a human who's dating a femritter." Unohana explained to Byakuya.
"Ah. Izaya has told me about that. He's a good soul, making a lot of new friends. That's what I want from him." Byakuya told Unohana.
"Oh I know. I'm happy for him. Thank you, Captain Kuchiki. I'm glad we had this talk." Captain Unohana said as she smiled at him and walked off.
Byakuya nodded as he kept looking at the koi fish. Then Unohana met up with Isane as they both danced under the moonlight and stars.
"Isane, I never felt like this before, but you've been giving me so much love and affection that I think I have fallen for you.~" Unohana said as she got closer to Isane.
"Captain, to be honest, I'm surprised that you haven't caught on. But I'm willing to date you since I have more experience." Isane explained to her captain.
"I would love that dear. Happy birthday.~" Unohana said as she stood on her tippy toes and kissed Isane.
Isane kissed her back as she blushed and smiled. "Thank you Captain."
The two kissed some more and danced a little longer, under the full moon as the lofi music played till the clock hit midnight.

Yes I personally do ship Isane with Unohana, an underrated ship.
Happy birthday to our tall waifu, Isane~! She's so underrated so she definitely deserves to have a birthday fanfic.
