Wow, New York looks so beauitful covered in snow, it is the most magical time of the year as dad and mom say plus it's mine and Ducky's first Christmas in our apartment with our friends, Firey and Gravity, we're going to have so much fun and nothing's going to stop it ooh we should get Our holiday tree later, wait Ducky should have a say about that we're soulmates for life as we say so part of it is deciding on things together, I should get back into bed as that Guardians mission with dad was awesome and can tell Ducky about it later….
It wasindedd the beginning of the holidays and chilly even in the New Warriors penthouse-apartment but the chilliness had lured Shocket out of her and Lijda's bed which was very cosy and warm but peaceful after she'd returned from a mission with her dad so had been looking out the window, at the beauitful snow-covered city outside while putting on soje warm winter pyjamas as Rocket had explained that being covered in thick fur was not enough to keep warm this time of year so had taken her dad's advice aboard, climbing into bed beside her beloved Ducky yawning because she was tired.
"I'm back Ducky, but missed you and very sleepy, even Helen's sleepy as she took out bad guys which I'll tell you about later, once I'm more awake." she whispered wrapping her furry arms around Linda feeling calmness and peacefulness surge through her body as her heavy eyelids closed in sleep just as their bedroom door opened softly which had been Gravity, checking on Linda and Shocket knowing it was a very fun time of the year, their first one together which was a big deal, like Rocket had pointed out at Thanksgiving when they'd had dinner here.
"Ssh Gravity, we should let them rest, Shocket gets very cranky when she doesn't get enough rest, she just came back from a mission with Rocket." Firestar told Gravity closing the door gently as not to awaken both females putting a holiday wreath on the door before heading to the kitchen noticing packages, realising what it was, the dreaded fruitcake but would ask Shocket what they should do, she was their fearless leader after all and had great ifeas which she was learning to share with her friends, not just Ducky which was her nickname for Linda because like her dad, Howard she was an alien duck but cute in Shocket's opinion plus she loved NCIS which the inspiration for her nickname had came from but sharing ideas, thoughts along with hopes and fears with Firestar and Gravity too.
"Let's make some breakfast and hot cocoa, but make plenty for Ducky and Shocket they have good appetites." Firestar told Gravity seeing Gravity nodgrinning at the mention of their co-leaders and appetites knowing Shocket had an awesome one making Firestar agree on that knowing they had to get a tree later but an artifical one which was a bit better for the envionment which they could decorate knowing Shocket-s Groot friend, Petal would agree seeing her awake but playing wanting Shocket making them get it, only they had to help her understand, that Shocket sometimes needed more sleep hoping she'd get it or they'd have a grumpy Shocket which wouldn't be a good idea.
"Shocket needs more sleep than us, Ducky too you think you can wait a little bit lomger." Gravity said to the lavender, skinned Groot youngster in a gentle yet patient voice like how Shocket spoke to her along with Linda.
"I am Groot, I am Groot.",Petal replied softly.
"Good girl, as we want them to rest up to have fun." Gravity told her.
Firestar put on the TV and shows the female Groot youngster would love that were talking about the holidays knowing she was curious about things because she went with Shocket everywhere plus Shocket being the expert Groot linguist, she'dtoldthem Groot so they could understand Petal but after a while, both Ducky and Shocket were up smelling breakfast seeing Petal happy, making Shocket giggle getting an idea on the fruitcake deciding to eat it for breakfast.
"Ummm Ducky this is a good idea for her, to do this." Gravity asked Linda.
"Uh-huh one year she and the adults had a fruitcake-eating contest." Linda said.
"Bring on the fruitcake, peeps lol." Shocket said drinking coffee.
"I love ehen she's like this in the mornings, compared to when she wakes up on the wromg side of the tree and guess the holidays help." Gravity told Linda seeing Petal agreeing, seeing Petal on the table pointing to the fruitcake, making Shocket understand.
"Ohhh you wanna play too, I guess it's okay because if this stuff doesn't hurt me, I guess it won't hurt you too." Shocket said as they were eating while Linda was recording this to show Rocket later, knowing he'd be amused by it along with Gamora until hearing knocking on the window made them curious seeing what looked like an otter female in purple-armour with a big box making Firestar and Gravity confused and Linda sigh seeing Shocket excited, hoping Lylla wouldn't encouage her to join the New Ravagers because her girl was on a good path now.
"Mama Scruff, and she needs help getting in, Ducky open the window." Shocket said.
"Shocket you mean open the window, please, right." Gravity said seeing her sigh.
"Open the window please, did she bring the decorations dad found." Shocket replied.
Lylla smirked entering after Petal and Shocket brought the box into the apartment impressed because Gamora and Rocket had told her that her lil protege had found her own team but also the leader only knew she was still with Linda.
"Yep kiddo, your dad asked me to bring them, wait you don't have the tree yet." she told Shocket making her furry cheeks go pink in embarrasment making Linda hiss, as Shocket sometimes felt insecure around Mama Scruff because in her young mind, she thought the female Ravager was so cool, when Shocket was so cooler like her dad and glad Rocket had married Gamora instead.
"We're getting it later, shouldn't you be going." she said.
"Okay, I didn't mean to send bad vibes, but I'll see you around." Lylla said leaving.
Shocket was taking deep-breaths but going to get dressed for the day alomg with Linda singing holiday somgs including some they'd used to sing as kids, well littler kids makijg Shocket giggle hysterically bringing that good mood back, that Lylla had almost ruined and she'd explain to both Firestar and Gravity about Mama Scruff seeing Petal there wearing a scarf which made her look cute.
"Yeah, I'm gonna wear a scarf, and a hat, even if it messes up my mohawk." Shocket said putting on the purple hat and scarf her dad had given her, so she wouldn't get cold which made Linda grin, she looked adorable, seeing Shocket kiss her or eskimo kiss her hoping for mistletoe in the apartment.
"Of course there will be, Shockie it ain't the holidays without it." Linda replied wearing a trenchcoat with boots on which fit with her webbed fert which made her look clasdy but cool seeing Petal along with Firestar and Gravity ready surprising Shocket, she thought it would just be her and Lijda alomg with Petal getting the tree or Christmas Groot.
"It's gonna be more fun with our friends, trust your Ducky." Linda assured her.
"Okay then, let's go." Shocket said as they left their apartment after locking the door humming holiday music as they were in the elevator making Petal grin while on Shocket's shoulder making them chuckle, leaving the building going ijto the frosty aired New York streets, seeing the many decorations hearing Petal pointing to them making Shocket giggle along with Linda and Firestar seeing Gravity finding the tree lot as they joined him seeing Petal excited, at all the holiday trees, her eyes going wide and running off climbing up them, so she could talk to them thinking they were Groots too but fancy ones.
"Petal, come back before somebody mistakes you for a stuffie." she called out.
"I am Groot, I am Groot." Petal replied coming back to her.
"Good girl, thank you for listening sweetie." she told her.
"I am Groot, I am Groot." Petal replied climbing onto her.
"Found the good treefor our apartment, let's go." Gravity told her.
After paying fir it, like how they paid their rent, they were getting it home seeing Shocket put money in the Salvation Army bucket which Lijda understood like how she bought a cool toy or Nerf blaster and put it in the Toys for Tots donation bin knowing she would do that in a bit once they got the tree home, and Petal took her nap because she understood that like her and Ducky growing up with Tivon, some kids wouldn't be having a good Chiristmas or Grootmas so she wanted to make it better for them which Linda got and so did Rocket plus knew she called Gamora by her name instead of calling her mom guessing that was a touchy subject which Ducky knew about, saying it was alright plus the Winter carnival was in Central Park too, which they were going to tomorrow which would be major fun.
After getting home and putting the tree in the living-room, Shocket was getting Petal to take her nap as she was sleepy after an active morning seeing the female sapling find the Night-Night Groot picture book that Groot had given her, after Shocket had adopted her only Shocket was getting a holiday picture book to read to her knowing she was excited about the holidays but also had a Hannukah one to dxplain to her knowing there was a menorah at her dad and Gamora's house which Ducky got hearing Petal yawning as Shocket kissed her little head seeing her out like a light before leaving her and Lijda's room, seeing Shocket leaving to do her Toys for Tots mission kissing Ducky before leaving making Firestar and Gravity curious about what their leader was up to.
"She's making the holidays better for kids who aren't having a good holiday, by donating to the Toys for Tots drive by goijg to FAO Schwartz picking out a couple of toys she thinks kids will enjoy." Linda told them which made them smile finding it sweet that she did this.
"Yeah, her dad agrees on this." Ducky told them.
"Awww she has a good heart you know." Gravity told her.
Later that afternoon, Shocket returned feeling good at this, seeing Petal awake cuddling her asking if she found cool toys for donating nodding having cookies and eggnog making Firestar and Gravity exchange a grin plus Shocket remembered running-ijto her dad saying she and Ducky were coming over to decorate the family-tree asking Firestar and Gravity, if they wanted to come seeing them nodding.
"Sure, it'll be fun to be a part of it." Gravity told her.
This made her grin, as she wanted Her family to meet her new friends knowing Petal was looking forward, to hanging out with Branchie while she was lookijg forward to decorating the family-tree with Gamora, her dad, Casey, Emily along with singing carols and having a blast with them and her Ducky.
