King: [Mission Failed!] Look, I need to admit my attempt has fallen through. This is chapter 8 and there's still 7 more I'd need to do in about eleven days. And with everything building up in the tail end of the month, I'm not going to succeed. But, I said I'll do 15 chapters, so I'm doing 15 chapters. They'll just have to bleed into September to get them done. Oh well. Anyway, again, I messed with the original prompt to flip the situation a little. Hope you enjoy anyway.

Prompt: Jaune reads Weiss' diary (altered slightly)

From The Disquieting One

Ruby looked to the left, then to the right. She was alone. But she didn't know for how long. So, she chose to act now before she lost this opportunity. She hopped down from her bed and to the desk. She swore she saw Weiss writing in a diary, even after she got huffy with Ruby for doing the same thing. So, she wanted to prove the point here! Weiss was a total hypocrite! Somewhere in her head, Ruby felt that this was probably just a notebook, but she wanted to hope, damn it! So, she opened Weiss' desk and looked inside to find a small leather bound book. "There you are." She pulled out the book slowly, only for the door to suddenly bump. Ruby let out an, "Eep!" before tossing the book and slamming the desk shut again. When the door unlocked to reveal Blake, Ruby knew she dodged a bullet. Either of the other two would have asked questions. She glanced to the side and noticed the book was nowhere to be seen and the window was open. "Uh oh."

Jaune groaned as he rubbed his head. He picked up the object that so suddenly assaulted his head and found a plain book. He looked around it to try to find some kind of answer as to what it could be, but found no answers. So, he opened it to the cover page to try to find something to figure out what happened.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"

Jaune jumped, the book flying out of his hands as he spun around to find Weiss. "Weiss? What are you-?"

"Don't you pull that!" Weiss grabbed the book off the ground and practically waved it in his face like a weapon. "You read this, didn't you?!"

"What? What are you talking about? I was just trying to figure out what it was!"

"A likely story!"

"I'm serious! It hit me in the head and I was trying to figure out what it was! The outside is blank!"

"Oh, is that right?!" Weiss clearly didn't believe him. "And how did it, hit you in the head huh?! It was held in my desk!"

"I don't know! I was just walking back from the main building and it fell on me!"

"A likely story!"

"You said that already!"

"Shut up, dolt!" Weiss almost smacked him with it. "Just admit you read it!"

"I'm still not even sure what it is!" The situation finally hit him. That's not a notebook or something. That has to be her diary! Oh crap!

"You think I'm going to accept that! Just admit it already!"

"I'm not going to admit to something I didn't do!"

"It was open! In your hands! Wasn't it?!"

"I mean… yeah, but only to the-"

"SHUT UP!" Weiss grabbed his hood and pulled him down to her height before dragging him away. "I'm dealing with you personally!"

"Hey! Wait! What's going on?!"

All the while, Ruby was watching on from her window as Weiss dragged her friend away. "Uh oh."

As Weiss dragged him along, Jaune's mind was reeling about what was about to happen. If she was going to one of the teachers, he'd get to set the record straight. No, Weiss wouldn't go to teachers for something like this. Besides, she said she was going to handle it herself. What is she planning?

Weiss eventually slowed and tossed him into an empty classroom. Sort of. He had to step into it and let her move him around. There was no way she had the strength to toss him properly. She stepped through and pressed a glyph onto the door, keeping it closed after locking.

This action started to make Jaune sweat. Sure, maybe he was twice her size and neither had weapons, but those glyphs would make it really easy to put him down if she wanted to. "Uh… Weiss? What are you planning?"

Weiss glared back at him, causing him to flinch, before holding the book up toward him. "How much did you read?"

"What?"

"Swear to me, how much did you read?"

Jaune paused a moment before looking back to Weiss with as serious a face as he could muster. "I swear to you, on my word as an Arc, that I haven't read any of it."

Weiss' glare sharpened before easing after some time. "Alright. Given how you are about your word, I can at least believe that."

"So why didn't you listen to me before?"

Weiss just looked away as she explained herself, "I was angry that it got out, alright? And after all your attempts at flirting, I thought you'd try to use it against me or something."

"That would be a pretty big invasion of privacy. Of course I wouldn't do that."

Weiss groaned and fell back into one of the classroom chairs. "I know… Thinking back, I would know that. So, it really did just fall on you?"

"Yeah."

Weiss sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "It was probably Ruby then." Weiss glanced back at Jaune for a moment before standing up and bowing slightly. "I'm sorry for accusing you like that."

"It's fine. A simple mistake." Jaune tried to wave it off, but seemed to falter seeing how Weiss looked.

She was fidgeting and refusing to look him in the eye. She groaned before shaking her head. "Okay, I feel like I need to make it up to you. I… did kind of accuse you in the middle of the courtyard area."

"We can fix that easily enough. Besides, we know the truth and can correct everyone." Jaune was just trying to get around to the resolution here. But he couldn't help but notice that the glyph on the door wasn't going away. "Uh… Can we go now or…?"

"What? Oh!" Weiss seemed to remember the situation and held her hand up to remove the glyph, but stalled after a moment.

Jaune saw this hesitation and glanced toward Weiss. "Weiss? You okay?"

When Weiss didn't answer, he started to get a little antsy. But then she turned on her heel with a serious look in her eye.

"Weiss?"

But the girl just moved in close, stood up on her toes, and placed a kiss on his cheek. She then just spun around again and opened the door, running out before he could say anything. She just stalled in the door to say, "Thank you," before bolting down the hall.

Jaune just stood there in shock for a few minutes.

In the middle of the night, Ruby broke into the desk again and pulled the diary out again. She opened it to a random page and found a weird sentence in the middle of the paper. There was nothing else, and clearly wasn't the last item written in it. Yet there it was, in the middle of the paper.

[I have to admit to myself I may like Jaune.]

"Ruby."

The reaper jolted up and slowly turned to see the face of freezing death standing behind her. "Uh oh."
