This takes place before episode 12 and redoes the ending of the Anime and beyond.

Kohana blushed prettily as Ichijouji Teika grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms to dance. Earlier, he had promised his half-brothers he would end her family name; in return, they praised him. He smirked when he walked away from them. His plan and every desire was to get her to marry him and merge the two feuding families. He wanted to give her his last name, so technically, he wasn't lying.

The next day his half-brothers shocked him when they loved his singing and seemed to accept Kohana. The relief he felt that night as he lay down to bed was overwhelming. He slept like a baby with no dreams of drowning in the pressure, for the first time in months. He dreamed of her face as she watched him sing and weave his magic. Never had he loved singing as much as when she was present.

He was incredibly brilliant, and he knew he wasn't the only one she encouraged or spurred on to greater things. She was the light and the magic to so many. He desperately needed to be her inspiration. For the first time in his life, ascending the staircase wasn't enough for him. He wanted to ascend it with her. That was his new goal and the first real selfish need that he allowed himself to have.

His brothers questioned his desire to see an end to her family name; they disapproved of him for even considering it; that made him chuckle; he smirked at them and shook his head. "I plan to marry her and give her ours. I couldn't ever move against her in any way."

That was when his half-brothers' competitive sides both came out again in full force. Masana looked at him seriously with his red eyes and said, "you aren't the only one in love with her. We expect you to win her heart. Anything you need from us, you have at your disposal. In fact, I'll send one of the family's vehicles to you for your use. How does the black Porsche 911 sound?"

Shines scoffed, "don't be stingy. He should use the Lamborghini."

Masana replied, "I thought of that, but don't forget father was going through a… phase at that time. It's yellow and wouldn't work with her coloring."

Teika looked at his brother questioningly, "and why does that matter?"

Masana said, "you should know better. Social media matters. She needs to not clash with the color of the vehicle in her photos she posts. Yes, the car should look impressive, but no woman likes to post a picture that makes her skin look sallow."

"She's not that shallow," Teika pointed out.

Shines shrugged, "I believe that but others are. You want everyone believing she's lucky to be with you and the other guys feeling like they don't stand a chance."

"You knew her mother," Teika pointed out, changing the subject. The idea that another man could win her heart was an uncomfortable subject for him. After all, he liked the others that loved her too. He knew what great guys they were.

Masana frowned and said, "yes, we were on the committee together. She was very much like her daughter. I just had too much pride at the time to admit that I loved her." That shocked the hell out of Teika.

"I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that my brother loved her mother."

"Half-brother," Masana replied. Then he added, much to Teika's shock, "you were gifted with the better mother, and I'd have been bitter if she didn't love us like her own sons. It's why we want so much for you. Before she died, Shines and I promised her we would help you make the most of your gift."

Shock rolled through Teika. Yes, there was family pressure. Pressure that he was realizing they all felt. But more than that, his feeling of drowning in the pressure of his magical gift of singing wasn't what he perceived. It was his brothers trying to support him in the only way they knew how.

His father had died just over a year ago. He had been a hard man. One only his mother, while she lived, could soften the edges of. His expectations were high, and his sons always met them. There wasn't a choice. Luckily for him and his brothers, they were bright and talented enough to live up to his expectations.

He realized his mother meant more to his half-brothers than either of their blood family. The conversation they held now was only possible because of her.

"Is it fair to Kohana?" He said out of seemingly nowhere to his brothers. "She's so much like mom. Father was a hard man, am I?"

Masana rolled his eyes in an uncharacteristic show of emotion. "Your mother adored our father. Yes, he was a hard man, but that was with everyone but her. He supported every one of her dreams."

Shines then added, "don't fool yourself either. You aren't like our father. You're not hard enough, and that's a good thing."

Masana then said, "use the Porsche and sweep her off her feet. Don't fail the family by letting another man get the heart of the woman you love." He was grateful for their full support.
