Disclaimer: I don't own Crash Bandicoot.

Happy birthday, little sister!

Coco's eyes sparkled as she read the label attached to the gift that had been placed in her hands. She took in how beautiful it looked, covered in shiny golden wrapping paper and tied up with red ribbon. The young bandicoot had no idea what was inside this parcel. All she knew was that it was something for her birthday - and that it was from her brother.

"Gee! Thank you, Crash!" Coco placed the package down to throw herself at her older sibling, wrapping her arms around him. "I love you, big bro!"

Crash smiled as he embraced her in return. It was hard for him to believe that she had turned another year older. No matter what, however, Coco would always be his little sister.

The two bandicoots stood together on the sand of N. Sanity Beach. They remained locked together for a moment as they hugged one another. Then Coco finally pulled away, gazing up at her brother with an excited look.

"Can I open my present right now?"

With a broad grin, Crash nodded. He couldn't wait to see Coco's face when she opened her birthday gift from him. He was certain his sister would be pleased with what he had gotten for her.

"Woohoo!" Coco cheered elatedly. "I can't wait to find out what it is!"

The birthday bandicoot untied the ribbon from the package. She tore off the golden paper to find that it was covering a crate. Knowing just what to do whenever she and her brother encountered these wooden boxes on their adventures, Coco gave it a karate kick, smashing it open to unleash her gift inside.

Coco's expression instantly changed when she saw what her birthday present from her brother turned out to be.

"A … battery?!"

Sure enough, a single small battery lay on the sand, looking very tiny compared to the crate it had been packed up inside. Coco picked it up and held it before her. She stared at it with wide eyes filled with disbelief before turning to Crash.

"You got me a battery for my birthday, big brother?"

Crash nodded, still smiling. He had mistaken the look on Coco's face for one of amazement. How little the simple-minded marsupial knew that his sister's reaction to his gift for her special day wasn't what he believed.

"Is this for when I told you to bring me a battery for my laptop?" Coco asked.

Crash nodded. He had never forgotten that time when Coco had woken him from a nap to order him to get a battery to replace the one which had fried inside her computer. It had only been due to being dragged into Doctor Cortex's scheme to gather crystals to enslave the world that same day why he had failed to get his little sister what she needed.

Well, he had finally solved that problem. Crash had finally gotten Coco the battery she wanted. What better time to give it to her, he had decided, than on his little sister's birthday?

Trying to hide how she truly felt about her gift from her sibling, Coco forced a smile.

"Thanks, big bro," she muttered. "You remembered to get me the battery I wanted. You're the best, Crash."

Crash shrugged modestly. He naïvely believed his sister was delighted with his gift to her. Turning away from Coco, he marched away from her, planning to get some nice juicy Wumpa Fruits for himself.

As Crash walked off, Coco's face fell. She stared at the tiny battery in her hand, utterly staggered that this was what her brother had gotten for her birthday. She had to admit, it was loyal of him not to forget that she had asked him to get this for her. She couldn't blame him for not getting it for her when she had originally ordered him to after being roped into Cortex's plot to conquer the planet. Having to save the world from the mad scientist meant finding a battery for her was the least of Crash's problems.

The only thing was now that lots of time had passed since that day, Coco had since gotten her laptop lowered up again. This meant the battery which Crash had finally gotten for her and decided to to give her for her birthday - was utterly useless to her.

Coco sighed, rolling her eyes at her brother's cluelessness - before deciding to not be annoyed at Crash and just appreciate how he had been thinking of her.

"I suppose I could invent something to be powered by this battery," she murmured. "Better not let it go to waste after Crash finally got it for me."

Coco peered towards her sibling. She saw him spinning one of the nearby trees on the beach. A large Wumpa Fruit fell down from the top. Crash held out his gloved hands to catch it - only for it to hit him on the head. It splattered all over the bandicoot, covering his orange fur and blue jeans with purple juice.

A giggle escaped Coco. She was certain that nobody else in the world had a big brother just like hers. That made her feel all the more lucky and grateful to have him - no matter how silly he was.

"You really are the best, big bro!" she said brightly. "I love you, Crash!"

The end.
