CHAPTER ONE: MISSION, AN EMBARRASSING DEFEAT

Summary: When Ken Suzuki joined Fairy Tail, he was a boy who had lost everything, his family, friends and home to a single mage. He was dark until a pink haired dragon slayer and white haired girl came into his life. Natsu and Lisanna were his close friends and he began to open up to the guild. But after something went wrong on a quest and he suffered and embarrassing defeat, he decides to get stronger, but not right way and his feelings of revenge arise again leading him down a dark path. Can Natsu Dragneel stop him and bring him out of his darkness. Or will it be too late?

Chapter 1

It was a beautiful day in the town of Magnolia. The people of the town were busy performing various activities. The children played and the adults were hard at work though everyone had smiles on their faces as some even conversed with each other. A young boy that looks around 15 years of age could be seen walking through the slightly busy streets.

The boy has spiky black hair that points forward and both sides with bangs framing his face with tanned skin. He is standing at a height of 5'6 and has a slightly muscular but lean build. He has dark red eyes and is wearing a red t-shirt with a blue Fairy Tail insignia on the front with blue pants and black shoes. He also has black wristbands on both wrists.

The boy looks around noticing that the people of the town were a lot more busier that normal and he also noticed a few decorations on some houses and shops. "Oh right, the Harvest Festival is starting in two days." He says and then grins with some excitement at the thought of the festival. It was an exciting time of the year in the town as it was full of fun and games and there were plenty of food. Yes he's a foodie. But the one thing he like about it was the Fantasia Parade. A parade where members of the Fairy Tail guild would go around town on floats and perform cool tricks with their magic. He was a magic nerd and seeing all the different forms of magic used was something he enjoyed.

"Man, I can't wait!" He says to himself.

He then spots someone running towards one of the town gates. The person is a teenage boy of the same age as him with spiky pink(or salmon as he calls it) hair and onyx eyes. He has a more muscular build than the black haired boy. He is wearing a golden trimmed sleevless black waistcoat that is buttoned up with white baggy pants and a leather brown belt and black open-toed sandals. Flying beside the boy is a blue cat with wings. He immediately recognizes them as two of his best friends, Natsu and Happy.

"Hey Natsu! Happy!" He calls out as he walks runs towards them. The boy and cat stop when they hear their names and turn to see Ken running towards them. Natsu grins when he sees who it was. "Hey, Ken! Where've you been man?" He asks the boy.

"Ken!" Happy calls out as he flys towards the boy. Ken smiles at the cat before patting him on the head. "Hey Happy." He says before looking at Natsu. "I kinda overslept today. I was on my way to the guild anyway." He states. "Did something happen?"

"Not much but you missed an awesome fight! I finally beat that damn stripper!" Natsu declares with a grin still on his face.

"Gray?" Ken says. "You beat Gray? I find that hard to believe." Ken says.

"What! But it's true!" Natsu retorts.

"No it isn't. You didn't even finish your fight before Master stopped you two." Happy says as he sits on Ken's head and Ken smirks. "Heh. I knew there was no way you'd beat Gray."

"Tch. I was about to anyway. If not for Gramps." Natsu says as he crosses his arms and he loses his grin. "I'm way stronger than Gray. Now it's just to beat Erza next."

"Yeah, I doubt you'd be doing that anytime soon. You can't even beat me and you think you'll beat Erza." Ken says with a cocky smirk. He had remembered when Natsu had first arrived at the guild and challenged him to a fight. While Natsu was tough and could take a lot of hits, he had still won and had won the other times they fought.

"Oi! I can take you on anytime!" Natsu retorts angrily.

"You sure." Ken says, his smirk widening.

"Hell yeah! Let's go right now!" Natsu says as he coats his right fist with his dragon flames. "Bring it then." Ken declares as wind spun around his right fist, completely coating it.

"This is so exciting!" Happy says as he flys off of Ken's hair and lands on a tree not too far away. "Go guys! Go!" He cheers.

"Let's do this!" The two boys declare as they charge at each other, their magic coated fists pulled back ready to strike. As the two got closer to each other and were ready to punch at each other, a gauntlet covered fists smashed against their heads sending them face first into the ground.

"Seriously. I expected this from someone like Natsu. But I thought you were smarter than this Ken." A female voice says as the two boys rose to their feet rubbing their heads.

"Ugh…" Ken groans before looking at the person who had knocked down him and Natsu. The person is a scarlet haired beautiful girl that looks about a year older than him with brown eyes, slightly large breasts and a nice body. She was wearing some kind of armour with a blue skirt and brown boots. "Erza?"

"Gah! Erza! Why'd you stop us from fighting?!" Natsu complains before getting hit on the head again by the girl. "The Harvest Festival is almost here and I don't need you two fighting and messing up the decorations in town." Erza says as she crosses her arms. "Besides, we already know who was going to win." She says looking at Ken.

Natsu understood what she meant and gets angry. "Oh come on! I was definitely gonna beat him! In fact I'm sure I can beat you right now!" He declares before grinning. "So let's fight! I'll kick both your asses."

"Is fighting the only thing you think about?" Erza asks with a sigh.

"Nah. I'm sure he also thinks about Lisanna. After all he likes her." Ken says with a smirk.

"So true. They liiike each other." Happy says as he flys down to them.

"SHUT UP!" Natsu shouts loudly with a blush on his face. The other three just chuckle at the boy's behaviour. "Anyway, where were you going anyway Natsu? I saw you heading for the gate before stopping you." Ken asks.

"Huh?" Natsu exclaims. "Oh yeah. We were heading off on a job. Right Happy?"

"Aye!" Happy says bringing out a request paper.

"Hm? What's the job about?" Erza asks and Ken was also curious.

"Oh it's just to take care of some bandits!" Natsu says showing them the request. "It surprsingly pays good though." He adds with a toothy grin.

"100,000 Jewels? That's a lot for just some bandits." Ken says. "Yes. Maybe this bandits are stronger than normal ones." Erza says with a nod. "Bah! Who cares?! I'll just kick their asses. Hey you wanna come Ken, we can kick ass together like always!" Natsu says.

Ken hums, thinking for a few seconds before shrugging. "Sure, got nothing else to do today. What about you Erza?"

"I would like to but I have things to do today. We're still preparing for the festival you know. I'm sure you two can handle it anyway." The scarlet haired beauty states. She was confident that her friends could easily take care of the bandits. "Though make sure not to over do it. We both know how destructive both your magic are when used together."

"Hehe no worries Erza." Ken says.

"Sure sure." Natsu says not fully listening. "Let's go guys!" He says running off with Happy flying after him. "Aye!"

"Oi! You can't just invite me and then leave me behind you idiot!" Ken shouts as he runs after the pink(Natsu would say it's salmon) haired dragon slayer and flying cat as they leave town.

Erza sighs before heading towards the guild. She had to help prepare for the festival.

A Few Hours Later, With Ken, Natsu and Happy

"Damn and here I thought they'd be more of a challenge." Natsu says with a groan. Ken just shakes his head as Happy flew over the two boys. "It doesn't matter, we got the job done and we got our reward. Though we would have gotten the full reward if you hadn't blown up part of the town." Ken says.

"Well not my fault." Natsu retorts.

Ken just sighs before smirking. "So when are you gonna tell Lisanna how much you like her?" He asks.

"Eh?" Natsu exclaims as a blush starts to form on his face.

"Yeah, yeah Natsu! You have to tell her!" Happy says from above him.

"I told you two before. I don't like Lisanna." Natsu states as he crosses his arms. "She's just a friend." Ken just shakes his head not believing his friend. "And besides, Mira would kill me if I started dating her sister."

"Oh~ so you're just afraid of what Mira would do huh. Don't worry Natsu, I'll make sure she doesn't kill you." Ken teased Natsu.

"Yeah! Mira always listens to you!" Happy states. "Maybe because she liiikes you!"

"Like me? I doubt it. Mira and I are just good friends." Ken states.

'Seriously. He tells me to confess to Lisanna and keeps acting as an expert in romance yet he is oblivious to Mira's feelings towards him. It's even obvious that both her and Erza like him. It's why they fight most of the time.' Natsu thought shaking his head at his friend's obliviousness.

'Ken is so stupid.' Happy thought. 'And I want fish.'

"Anyway, let's hurry back so we can help the others with the preparations." Ken says.

"Aye!" Happy exclaims.

"No way. We're gonna finish our fight when we get back." Natsu states wanting to fight the boy.

"No." Ken says bluntly.

"Aw come on! I hate how blunt you can be sometimes. Fight me!" Natsu says.

"No." Ken answers.

"You know, if you want someone to fight, you can fight me." A dark voice says from behind the two boys and cat. The three Fairy Tail mages eyes widen and immediately they turn back to see a tall man wearing a black cloak and hood that was covering his entire face. "I'm always up for a challenge." The man says his dark voice sending chills down the three mages spines.

'What the...I didn't even smell him.' Natsu thought shocked how this man had managed to evade his enhanced senses. Ken was also having different thoughts though. 'W hat the hell? His magic power, it's off the charts.'

"It's been a while Suzuki Ken." The man says.

"How do you know me? Who are you anyway?" Ken asks as he tenses up, he could tell this man wasn't good news. The hooded man merely chuckles before speaking up. "Just someone you know. It's time to see how strong you've gotten over the past seven years."

"Hey! I don't know what you're on about but if you want a fight then I can give one." Natsu says as he engulfs his fists with flames and charges at the man. "Wait Natsu!"

"Fire Dragon-"

"I have no interest in you little dragon." The man says as he suddenly appears in front of Natsu, shocking the boy and before the son of Igneel knew what happened, he was sent flying high and away by a hard uppercut to the jaw.

"Natsu!" Ken and Happy cry out as their friend is sent flying to who knows where. "Happy go after him, I'll deal with this guy." Ken says and Happy nods before flying off to get Natsu.

"Now that their gone, we can finally get to it." The hooded man says as Ken glares at him. "Oh, what's with that look."

"You're gonna pay for that." Ken says as his fists are coated with wind thanks to his Wind Magic. Ken then crouches down slightly and immediately charges at the man with fast speeds though to the man, he was slow.

'A straight up attack against an unknown opponent. Foolish.' The hooded man thought as he moves his body to causing Ken's wind-coated fist to sail past his covered face. Ken immediately turns his head but as he does the man back hands him sending the boy flying and crashing onto a tree.

"Ack."

"Is that it?" The hooded man says sounding bored.

"I'm just getting started." Ken declares as he gets on his feet and sends as slash of wind at the man. The man dodges the attack before spotting blades of pure wind hovering above Ken.

"Wind Blades." The fifteen year old boy shouts as the blades fly towards the man at fast speeds. The man just dodges all of them with ease before smacking away the last one dispelling it. "What?" Ken states in shock.

"Nice spell kid. But now it's my turn." The man says before he sets his right arm forward as a ball of dark purple energy begins to form and it grows larger and larger until it was the size of a tree. Ken's eyes widen sensing the amount of magic in the attack.

"Massive Destructo Dark Ball." The man shouts out the attack as he sends the ball flying towards Ken at a fast speed that Ken couldn't dodge the attack in time.

"Shit."

Happy

"Natsu! Natsu where are you?" Happy calls out to his best friend and technically, his father. He has flown as fast as he could to where he assumed Natsu had crashed onto. "Natsu!" The young blue cat cries out when he spots the salmon(at least according to him) haired teen laying on a crater knocked out. Happy immediately flew down towards Natsu.

"Natsu wake up!" Happy says as he tries to wake the boy up. He begins to slap the boys face until he a groan escapes the boy's mouth. "Ugh...what happened?" Natsu asks as his vision was a bit blurry before it clears up and he sees Happy on top of him. "Happy?"

"Natsu! Thank goodness you're okay!" Happy states.

Natsu immediately sits up and begins to rub his head. "Man, I feel like a train hit me." He says before his eyes widen as he remembers what happened to him. "I remember now! Where's that bastard?! I'm gonna get him back for that!" Natsu shouts as he gets on his feet.

"Ken is fighting him now! Natsu we gotta get to him and help!" Happy states worried about the black haired boy. Natsu nods his head and Happy spreads his wings thanks to his Aera Magic and grabs Natsu from behind.

Before the two could fly off, there was a massive explosion of purple energy and wind some distance away from them. Their eyes widen at the size of it and Natsu immediately narrows his.

"Let's fly Happy."

Happy doesn't respond but he wastes no time and the two immediately fly off, Natsu using his flames from under his feet to boost them.

Ken Vs. Hooded Man

Ken wasn't one that believed in things like luck or coincidence. But he definitely knew that he was lucky that he wasn't dead right now. When the hooded man had fired that last attack, it was coming at him so fast that he knew he wouldn't dodge it on time so he used his magic to create a wind barrier to protect him from the attack.

This caused a massive explosion that destroyed most of the surrounding trees and sent the boy flying and crashing hard on the ground. He had some bruises on his body but nothing too serious. Though it still hurt.

"If you hadn't survived that, I'd have been seriously disappointed. Though your performance so far has still disappointed me." The man says as he stood some metres away from Ken who glares at him. "I guess I should have expected this from someone who hangs around in a weak guild like Fairy Tail."

Ken's glare hardens immediately after what the man said. "Don't insult Fairy Tail!" He states as he weakly stands up and claps his hands together as a massive green magic seal appears above him facing the man.

"Wind Tiger!"

A large tiger head made of wind flys out of the magic seal and flys towards the hooded man.

"Interesting."

The man doesn't move as the attack hits him dead on. A huge explosion of wind tht blows away the surrounding leaves from the ground and causes debris and dust to rise up from the collision.

"Huff...huff...did that get him?" The boy asks hoping he had beaten the man but for some reason he knew that he hadn't.

"That was a nice spell. A bit more power in it and I would actually have been injured a bit." Ken hears the man's dark voice says as the man walks out from the smoke completely unharmed. His cloak was a bit messed up though but his hood had gone down and Ken could sees his face. His eyes widened as he stares at the man's face before narrowing in pure rage.

"You!" Ken shouts in rage.

The man was a fair skinned man with spiky light purple hair and red eyes. He looked to be in his early fourties and he had a two identical scars over his left eye. But the most surprsing thing is that he looks like an older version of Ken.

"It's been a while son." The man says with a smirk.

"Zora Suzuki." Ken says the man's name hatefully.

"Seriously. You won't even call me dad. I'm hurt." The now named Zora says faking a hurt expression. Ken wasn't going to buy it though. "You don't seem happy to see me though."

Ken's magic power unknowingly spikes after his father says that. "I'll kill you! You deserve to die after what you did to our family. Our home!"

"Hmm…"

"Now! I'm going to end you! For mum, big sis and the others!" Ken says as he ignites his right fist with bright purple flames causing the man to gain a slightly surprised look as he raises an eyebrow.

"Purple flames?"

"Wind Magic isn't the only form of magic I know. Now die!"Ken says as he rushes at the man he hated the most in the world.

"I swear I'll kill you father. Even if it's the last thing I do!"

"FLAMING EXPLOSIVE FIST!"

With a loud yell, Ken punches forward at Zora unleashing a powerful flaming blow to the man causing an explosion of purple flames. When the smoke clears, the boy is shocked and dumbfounded. Zora looked unaffected by the punch except a few burns on his body and was holding his wrist tightly.

"I definitely felt that a bit. You've gotten stronger." Zora says before smiling darkly. "But it's still not enough. No where near enough."

"Bastard." Ken growls out before screaming in pain when Zora breaks his right arm. The man then grabs the boy by the neck and smashes him hard into the ground injuring the boy more and causing him to cough out blood and saliva.

"Even with the amount of potential you have. Even with all that dormant power inside of you, you're still this pathetic." Zora says. "Guess spending time in that guild didn't make you strong enough."

"You said you were going to kill me but instead of getting strong enough to do so, you were busy playing around with brats and a flying cat. You've only gotten a bit stronger but with the way you are now you'll never defeat me, and more people are going to suffer for it."

"F-fuck...y-you…" Ken coughs out. Zora then shakes his head with a sigh before raising him up from the ground still holding him by neck. "Remember this boy! Next time we meet, I won't bother trying to spare you. You'll either die or live so if you want to avenge your mother, sister and all the friends you lost that night, get stronger and come after me and quit messing around in Fairy Tail. You'll only stay weak that way."

Zora then throws Ken away sending him flying and smashing into a nearby rock, cracking it. Ken then slumps against it, struggling to stay conscious as blood dripped down from the right side of his face.

'D-dammit…' He thought as he looked at the person he hated more than anything. The man just grins before disappearing in a flash of purple. 'No…' He then loses consciousness.

Two Years Later

Dark red eyes weakly open as if awakening from a sleep. A figure stands up from the tree he was leaned against to sleep and stretches a bit. The figure is a boy that looks around 17 years of age with tanned skin. His hair was still the same spiky black hair that points forward and both sides with bangs framing his face. He now had an angular jaw making him more handsome than two years ago.

He now wore a dark blue t-shirt with black long sleeved muscle shirt underneath it. He wore black pants and black combat boots. He also wore fingerless gloves on both hands and a slightly tattered cloak. This is Ken Suzuki. An older Ken Suzuki. He had a stone cold expression on his face.

"Why am I dreaming of that day now?" He thought out loud as he stares at the rising son. "The day that changed everything."

"Well there's no use in thinking of it now. What's done is done and there's no going back. I've already decided on my own path." He says as a leave begins to fall towards the ground. He catches it with his right palm and stares at it before crushing it.

"I'm coming for you...father."

And that's it for this chapter. I thought for a while of doing something like this but never figured out how to go about it. Until a few days ago though. Anyway for those wondering about what happened in the past, well we'll be seeing more of it in the coming chapters. What about Fairy Tail? What happened to Natsu? Lisanna? Erza? The others? What has Ken been doing all these years? Well you'll find out soon.
