Peter Parker had been Spider-Man for 6 years and he loved being the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man looking out for the little guy on the streets even if there was a percentage who thought that he was a menace; but he did feel excited when he got to be apart off the big leagues missions especially now that he was a reserve member off the Avengers.
He was now working with them right now in storming a research facility that had been funded by Wilson Fisk the Kingpin before he got sent to prison and was now being commandeered by Advanced Idea Mechanics and their big headed leader MODOK (the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) who was using his mental powers against the heroes. He was now web slinging the yellow suited AIM scientists to help the Avengers get to portal device connected to the glowing power off the Space Stone. The Avengers had told him about it; one of the 6 Infinity Stones that held a great power off the universe and put together the power was limited only by the imagination off the user.
It was cool; there was some big idols off his such as Captain America himself Steve Rogers, Tony Stark the Iron Man and then there was the God of Thunder himself Thor and T'Challa the Black Panther who was the superhero king off the most advanced country in the world.
"You Know MODOK; it would be too easy to come up with quips about your big head as there is no shortage off material to work with so how about the fact that the dress code for your science based terrorist organisation are beekeeper uniforms? Or how about the acronym for your name should instead be MODOFK?" Peter joked but then the portal machine began activating and it opened up.
The inside off the portal showed a barren desert off a planet and out came AIM agents with a containment unit with a black substance in it and Thor looked visibly panicked and shocked when he noticed it. "Make your wise cracks while you can arachnid for the Space Stone has allowed me to find a weapon capable of killing Thor and all other so called heroes! Once the heroes are done away with; I will lead AIM to collect more treasures throughout the universe and soon Earth will the capital off a universe wide scientific utopia under MODOK!" MODOK gloated with great laughter.
"The Necrosword! MODOK you have no idea off the weapon that you have carelessly brought to Earth, my future self said to leave on the dead world for a reason!" Thor thundered (whether the pun was intended is up for debate) as Peter and Steve came forward to take on the AIM agents with the containment device.
"Spider-Man! Watch out!" Steve shouted jumping in front of Peter with his shield to lock the mental blast from MODOK while Peter dodged the weapon blasts off the AIM agents.
"Thanks Cap, I really appreciate it... Wait... Is that..." Peter replied and was about to salute him when he was distracted by how familiar the substance in the containment unit looked. Looked like the alien symbiote that came to Earth on a shuttle piloted by Colonel John Jameson and bonded with him increasing his strength and powers but increasing his negative qualities. He freed himself from it and the symbiote found a new host to bond with; disgraced reporter Eddie Brock who had a hatred of Spider-Man and they became Venom one off his most dangerous oponnents.
The substance then seemed to notice Peter's presence and was now moving about in the glass, banging it until it broke free much to the shock off the AIM agents. "Impossible! That glass is supposed to be unbreakable.." MODOK shouted in outraged disbelief leaving him open to be attacked by Tony, Thor and the other Avengers.
Peter however had his Spider-Sense go off as the substance broke free and came to Peter and he panicked jumping as it forcibly bonded to him. "Go away!" Peter shouted using his willpower to prevent the substance from bonding to him and formed a blade in his hand.
I have sensed that you previously were bonded to a Klyntar descendant and I sense the tragedy in your life: your parents, Uncle Ben, Gwen..." Peter felt a voice in his head as it seemed like the sword was talking to him and he glared at it underneath his mask. He saw some AIM agents trying to make a break for it with the portal device with the Space Stone with it and wanted to help stop them but before he and the other Avengers had a chance to stop it; the blade turned into a hand which strethed out and managed to break through teh machine and grab the Space Stone from it and placed it in his hand holding the blade. "Think off what we could do together!" Peter felt the voice talk to him again as the Avengers circled around him now that the AIM agents were taken care off.
"Everyone... I believe this sword is a symbiote like the one that posessed me and is now Venom... It's talking to me in my head..." Peter muttered as there were whispers.
"Kid; let me warn you that an alien sword talking to you in your head is not going to make the top ten weirdest things that could ever happen to you now that you're an Avenger." Tony remarked and Steve and Thor glared at him for not taking this seriously.
"Man of Spiders, the Necrosword was the weapon of Gorr the God Butcher. Under it's influence he slaughtered gods and pantheons throughout the universe for 3 thousand years. To stop him I had to team with my past and future selves in order to prevent the Godbomb that he masterminded the construction off; capable of wiping out every god that ever or will ever exist throughout all of space and time in the universe." Thor explained getting wide eyes.
"I remember; you turning down my help when you discovered this happen and said it was god business. I had the idea off you fighting Kratos in my mind." Tony replied and Peter wondering if Venom was actually capable of killing gods and it made him wonder if he was lucky when they fought earlier.
"I remember Gorr; when he came across me having slain a golden god after a battle with my creator Knull. He spent his life on that wretched nameless planet having his father die before he had a chance to know him, his mother killed, his pregnant wife killed and all his children dying one by one thanks to the cruel sun. Told all his life to have faith in his people's gods and when he finally renounced him, he was cast out by his tribe and it lead him to me!" the voice told Peter once again and he was freaked out by what seemed to be a dark and tragic origin story.
"Knull? Who is this Knull and what do you have to do with the symbiotes?" Peter told the voice having enough as the Avengers looked at him concerned.
"Knull the King of Black; he existed before the creation off the universe where there was darkness. He created me the original Klyntar to help him wage war on the Celestials and gods to claim this universe as his own but he was mortally wounded on Gorr's planet. From me more Klyntars were born to posess intelligent species ready for the return off our god!" the voice further explained and Peter took this in.
"Wait the symbiotes had a god? If I kept being posessed would I have to join this symbiote religon because now way would I renounce Christmas and Hanukkah for black alien ooze god!" Peter retorted as he looked at the Avengers. "Where can we send this thing and what do we do with this Space Stone because with my luck a power off the universe in my possession will not lead to good!" Peter shouted to the Avengers wanting to be done with this as they looked concerned and looked at eachother.
"We could seal them away until we can put together way to send the Space Stone with the Necrosword to a dead universe; anyone that remained that would come across them would find a Stone unable to work outside it's native universe." suggested T'Challa and Tony nodded along with the others; they must be speaking from experience dealing with other universes Peter thought.
"A novel plan but I have another one which I am more fond off... Getting away so that they can't send me away to be alone again away from my new host!" The voice off the Necrosword told Peter and he felt the Necrosword spreading onto his hand to force him to use the Space Stone to open up a portal and Peter yelled as the Necrosword turned into a fist to push him through it with his Spider-Sense going off harder than it usually does.
Peter moaned as he got up and saw that he was in some sort of castle on a balcony overlooking a dungeon, he looked out a window and gasped when he saw that it was clearly not on Earth. The ground was pitched black and there was a massive crater that looked to be the size off an ocean where there was lava inside. "What kind of nightmarish planet did you send me? Is this Knull's planet and before I forget I want to say that this is nothing like any fantasy off being on another planet that I have ever seen!" Peter yelled frustrated.
"Who is there? Another of Darkseid's minion wanting to see if my spirit has been broken yet?" asked a woman's voice and Peter went to a cell and saw that there was a tall muscular beautiful black haired woman in a golden tiara, a leotard like suit patterned after the US flag, a golden armor breastplate in the shape of a W, a golden belt, red and hold boots and silver bracelets. She looked beaten up with cuts and there was a plate of food beyond her reach as she was bound in a golden rope.
"Sorry; are you a prisoner miss?" Peter asked thinking that this day was just getting weird as the woman looked at his direction.
"I was captured by the forces of Apokolips; their latest invasion on Earth turned out to be a distraction so they could wear me out and capture me so that Darkseid could take me as a prisoner. He intends to break my spirit and turn me into his queen." the woman explained as Peter raised an eyebrow.
"I don't know anything about Darkseid or Apokolips or an invasion on Earth but then again the planet has been invaded by aliens and monsters plenty of times so who can keep track? I can help get you out!" Peter said pulling at the cage which seemed strong and he began using more off his strength to get the bars broken. He then decided to try using the NEcrosword to cut the ropes but it just clang doing nothing.
"The Lasso of Truth was forged by the god Hephaestus and is unbreakable, your blade won't do a thing." the woman explained as Peter then decided to get the Lasso to free the woman.
"What a day; first helping the Avengers leads to me getting almost posessed by this god killing sword which is actually the symbiote ancestor made by their god and now I am here freeing the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my entire who looks hot in her Captain America cosplay swimsuit... Why am I saying all this?" Peter yelled shocked and the woman looked amused.
"Sorry but the power of the Lasso of Truth compels the truth. Now may I have the name off my rescuer?" the woman asked as Peter shook off his embarassment.
"Smooth. I am can see why you only ever had one actual girlfriend." the Necrosword told Peter and he glared at the Necrosword in his hand.
"New York's friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, reserve member of Earth's mightiest heroes the Avengers!" Peter introduced and the woman looked at him oddly.
"I have never heard off these Avengers or seen you before in New York so along with your seamingly unfamiliar with me that you come from an alternate universe." the woman told Peter blinked and he wasn't expecting this. Still this woman looked like she was speaking from experience so she must be a superhero as well from her Earth.
"I am Princess Diana off the island of Themyscira; I am known as the Wonder Woman and the world we are on is called Apokolips home of the despot Darkseid. He desires nothing less than the complete control over the universe." the woman introduced to Peter putting on a friendly smile taking his hand to shake.
"Well... What alien tyrant doesn't want that? Anyway, nice to meet you and I hope your Earth is much better than this world and I can take us away now using this..." Peter said as he sensed his Spider-Sense go off and then there was monstrous looking creatures with glowing eyes and insect like wings.
"Parademons; the backbone off Darkseid's army!" Diana explained looking serious as she went to punch and kick at the Parademons; showing quite good despite looking tired and hungry and a beautiful woman who can fight is definitely someone that Peter can be attracted to.
He then began dodging the Parademons and webbing up their eyes; as Diana called for him to run with her as they then began dodging more Parademons. They came across the front door which was blocked by more Parademons. they turned and saw that there was a trio there.
A sneering ugly old man in a black cloak with the hood up, a muscualr looking elderly woman in dark green and black armor and then a tall imposing figure with grey stone like skin, a black and dark blue armor and a red symbol at the middle. He had a glaring face along with his dark blue full head helmet with a hole for his face along with red eyes.
Being in their presence set off Peter's Spider-Sense harder than it had ever been set off.
"Darkseid and his top generals Desaad and Granny Goodness." Diana explained with a strong glare.
"My Diana; I don't think we have done enough to break your spirit leaving you in your cell with food out of your reach. I should be torturing you with the help off the Female Furies; to turn you into the leader you should be as Darkseid's queen." Granny Goodness said in a false sweet voice that was disgusting.
"You will need to be taught your place Diana and you shall watch as your supposed 'hero' shall wish to for death in his upcoming torture!" Desaad sneered.
"I will never be your bride Darkseid! I know that it will just be me being your slave and trophy wife! My Amazon spirit will never be broken!" Diana yelled looking ready to fight.
"Such unfounded confidence; breaking you shall be my ultimate triumph. You will be watching kneeling from my feet as the people off your beloved Earth will suffer in despair begging for salvation. After Earth is taken; soon I shall take the Anti-Life Equation and I shall be the god off the universe as I am to the inhabitants of Apokolips! For the universe shall all see that... Darkseid is!" Darkseid said in a booming voice as Peter felt his Spider-Sense go off as too many Parademons for him to evade caught his arms and brought him into the air.
Peter tried to break free and Darkseid warned towards Diana with his glowing red eyes "One move and your rescuer shall be gone with the Omega Effect!" Diana glared at Darkseid but stood still as Peter was brought close to Darkseid's face. "I don't know how you got to my kingdom but Desaad shall torture the information out of you and it will be a long time before I let your pathetic existence end!" Darkseid warned him and PEter panicked trying to think off something.
He moved his hand with the Necrosword towards Darkseid's chest and he heard a piercing sound; Darkseid's eyes closed and his mouth was wide open and the Parademons was distratced enough for Peter to get them to drop him. Peter watched as the Parademons looked as Darkseid fell to his back with Granny Goodness and Desaad looking as if they were in complete stunned denial about what happened.
"Wait... Is he dead?" Peter asked panicked as alien warlord or not; he never was fond off the idea that he might have to kill someone one day. Stopping himself from acting on the desire to kill his Uncle Ben's killer, he swore he would be better than he was.
"One way to find out..." the Necrosword told Peter as he saw it stretched to his hand and it forced him overlooking Darkseid's head and then a forced swing. "Off with his head!" the voice told Peter and he repleid by harshly glaring at the Necrosword in his hand. "What, I thought you would have appreciated a one-liner being made!" the voice told Peter and he went to join Diana who was shocked as well.
"I can't believe it... All those battles and what was needed to match him in combat... You have managed to kill Darkseid with your blade!" Diana muttered as Peter remembering the Space Stone put up a portal to take go back to the Avengers on Earth.
"If you want it then you can have it because I would be happy to have nothing to do with any symbiotes ever again!" Peter said as they went through the portal and saw that the other Avengers were overlooking SHIELD agents who were taking MODOK and the AIM agents into custody.
"So there he is and he has brought a friend!" said Clint Barton the Avenger known as Hawkeye noticing them and then they noticed.
"Hi everyone; so the Space Stone took me to this alien death planet in another universe and I met Diana here who is a superhero on their Earth. She was held prisoner and I rescued her and with the Necrosword I killed the alien despot who was trying to turn her into his queen!" Peter quickly explained as Diana greeted them with a wave.
"Sounds like a day ending in Y for the Avengers..." muttered Tony.
Do I know how to end a chapter?
I have recently got Thor: the Saga of Gorr the God Butcher trade paperback which collects the 11 part storyline that introduced Gorr and I reccommend it. Same day at my local video game store (literally just called Game) I got the Gorr Marvel Legends figure for the Love & Thunder toyline (I find it hilarious that Zeus didn't get one in the toyline and yet Star-Lord and Groot with minimal screentime both got figures there). New 52's Darkseid look is my favourite look for him and so it's being used here.
Hmm... How exactly did Peter and the Necrosword get to Apokolips?
