AN: hear me out, hot af florist Asami with a bunch of tatts

Elemental Fever Challenge Prompt 3: Gardening

Potted Luck

"Urgh…"

Letting out a huge sigh, Korra couldn't believe it.

"Why do I have to go buy flowers…"

She mumbles as she kicked a pebble on the ground.

"It's the perfect gift she said! Don't get her a gift card she said! Come on, we all know money is the best gift! We're not even that close…"

One sigh later, she was finally at the front door of the flower shop nearby her house. Thankfully for Korra, at least it wasn't out of reach.

"At least this place is like a ten-minute walk away…"

Resigning in her fate, she opened the door to trigger a soft and charming bell.

"Coming," a voice called out, "I'll be right out. Feel free to look around!"

Korra took a step inside and immediately began scanning the store. "Thanks!" She called back, inclined to respond. Sure enough, she wandered over to the colorful flowers. "Now let's see… what the hell would she like…"

Letting in close to get a closer look, Korra squinted her eyes in an attempt to concentrate. "What color did she like again…" she thought long and hard before voicing a guess. "Pink? Or was it yellow…" She lets out another loud groan before a voice spoke up from behind.

"Hi there! Sorry for the wait, can I help you find something?"

Korra stands up in her spot. "Um, yeah. I'm looking for a gift for a coworker, her birthday is next week and—" the moment she turned around, her eyes popped open. "And… uh… she likes gardening" her jaw dropped as she gawked at the florist in awe. Her thoughts started running out of control.

Holy fuck she's hot… Korra's eyes ran down her neck to her arms. She has tattoos!? She gasped softly before gulping hard at the sight of an intricate dragon, spiraling up her forearm and getting lost under her shirt sleeve. She was painfully curious of where it led to. Albeit, there were plenty of other tattoos scattered across her body as well but it was honestly sensory overload trying to not faint from her taking in this florist's gorgeousness and her own light-headedness.

She has a fucken nice bod too shit… Finally shooting for it, Korra took in the amazing details on both her tattoo sleeves. They really were amazingly detailed ink work and from what She could tell, they told a story. A story she wanted to know. Eventually, she got a better look at her shirt line and her eyes lingered at the gap where her tee shirt's sleeve ended before she trailed back up to her neck line. From what she could see behind that apron and uniform, it looked like she was tattooed on her chest, beneath that damned shirt as well.

The florist giggles before stepping in closer to Korra. "If that's the case, I wouldn't get these." She next pauses next to Korra's side before pointing at an information card. "Chrysanthemums, they are mostly known as a symbol of grief and tend to be used in funerals."

She then lends off to another section of the store which Korra follows after without skipping a beat.

"Multi-colored roses are pretty popular for birthdays… otherwise I would recommend gerberas flowers. Those tend to represent cheerfulness and innocence."

Korra thanked the spirits that the florist's hair was tied up in a high ponytail because lord, her neck was so fucking attractive. She confirmed something. This hot lady indefinitely had tattoos all over her body because fuck, there was some sort of beautiful design teasing her from the nape of her neck. Not to mention, her voice was really starting to grow on her, and shit was she swooning hard.

"Miss…? Would you like to see other flowers or…?"

Shit, she was talking to me. "Uh— oh! No no no," she brought up her hands in a nervous tick, "I'll go with what you said!"

The florist makes eye contact before smiling with a slight chuckle. "Which one? The gerberas or roses?"

Korra got lost in those eyes. "T-The uh…" she had to think quick. "The gerber—" she ends up biting her tongue in haste. "Ow— fuck!"

"Pfft—" Covering her mouth, she suppressed her laughter. "How many flowers would you like? Will a small bouquet work?"

"Yeah, sure! Sounds perfect." Giving her a dorkish smile, the moment she turned away, Korra turned around and slapped her face. Korra, stop acting like such a fucking raging gay mess! Yeah sure she's hot but she's totally gonna think you're a freaking creep! Just stop! Stop being dumb!

"Alright, that'll be five dollars for you."

Korra blinked in confusion. There was no way flowers would be that cheap. She may not buy them but she knew they were pricey. Her suspicions were confirmed when she looked at the generic price range board. "Uh… sorry I don't wanna be nosy or anything but isn't that too cheap?"

The florist leaned forward on the counter before giving her a playful wink. "First timer's discount."

"Wha—" For some reason, that caused Korra's entire body to inflame. "O-Okay!" Her voice squeaked and she rushed to grab her wallet and mentally end her own life. She quickly looked away, unable to hold eye contact, before grabbing a random amount of money from her wallet. Sure enough, she slammed the random amount of money down before snatching the flower bouquet and bolting out the door. "Thanks!"

"What— wait!" The florist's eyes widened, "Your change!"

Korra was already long gone before the florist could even confirm how much her patron had given her. When she counted the amount, she rested her arm on the counter before leaning on her fist. She lets out a loud sigh before mumbling to herself.

"This is way too much…"

Her eyes linger on the surplus of money.

"I never even got her name."

xXx

"Oh spirits what am I doing here again…"

Korra exclaims as she paced back and forth in front of the flower shop.

"I don't have a reason to even be here!"

She then stopped in place before recalling the florist's amazing body and her face immediately imploded.

"No no no no! Korra, you can't just go to an establishment to gawk at someone!"

She started pacing back and forth again.

"Don't be a creeper. Don't be a creeper. Don't be a creep—"

"Boss there's a creeper in front of our store!"

"GYAAA!" Screaming for her life, Korra flinched like crazy before jumping when the drop-dead gorgeous florist from last time pops out of the flower shop.

"Oh? You're from before."

She remembered me! A huge smile crept on Korra's face before her expression took a complete 180 into horror. She remembered me. Turning around, Korra was about to bolt off when that angelic voice stopped her.

"Wait— please wait miss!"

Korra couldn't ignore her request and came to a hard stop. Her ears were burning and she could practically drop down onto the ground from having a cardiac arrest. What made it worse was that the florist had actually chased after her a bit.

"I promise I don't bite." She said in a calm voice with a chuckle. "If you don't mind, can I offer you some water or tea? You look…" silence lingered for a second and Korra could've sworn she was burning daggers into her from behind. "Awfully worn out."

She was about to say no. She swears to Raava that she was going to say not but then her fucking stomach had to greet the hot florist lady and alas, she heard it obviously.

"Pfft—"

This time the florist couldn't hold it in and started laughing out loud. It was music to Korra's ears honestly but also not at the same time. May she get hit by a car and get send to sent far, farrrr away to some hospital on the other side of the city.

"I have some snacks too so help yourself out. Please, I insist."

Now how on earth could Korra say no to that?

The answer was simple.

She couldn't.

One second, Korra was on the verge of dying from embarrassment, the next, she was having a cup of tea with a hot florist. Oh, and not to mention the excellent choice in snacks as well.

"I think we start off on the wrong foot, my name is Asami miss…?"

Asami.

Even her name was hot as shit.

"Korra. You can call me just Korra."

Asami gives a playful smile. "Korra, it's finally nice to meet you."

Chuckling awkwardly, Korra sipped her tea before looking away from those alluring green eyes. She could tell Asami was eyeing her, judging her even, that she didn't have the nerve to make eye contact nor strike a simple conversation. Luckily for her, Asami was leading the exchange.

"So, what brings you here today? Another birthday party perhaps?"

Korra gulped at that. She didn't have a reason to come to a flower shop whatsoever.

"Uh… you can say that… I sort of… grew the curiosity for flowers?"

The awkwardness and questionability in her voice could be heard a mile away.

Asami simply chuckles before cocking her head to the side. "That makes me happy, glad to hear. I was starting to worry if you wanted a refund for your last order."

Korra purses her lips at that. "And why would I do that…?"

This time, the florist gave her a curious look. "I mean… you paid a hundred dollars."

"Ah… so that's where my money went." She meant to keep that thought inside but apparently, it slipped out that stupid mouth of hers.

Asami laughs out loud again before crossing her legs. "I knew it, you didn't know. How cute of you."

Korra twitches at that. "Did you just call me…" cute? No way. Now fucking way?! She thinks I'm cute?! D-Does that mean I have a chance?!

"Anyways, why don't I show you our collection of plants? If you're interested in starting a small garden, I recommend sunflowers since they're fairly easy to grow. Otherwise, if you're going for something more apartment friendly, I recommend succulents since they don't require much sunlight or water as a matter of fact. It's pretty hard to kill them off so unless you're veryyy unlucky or irresponsible, you should be fine."

She then turns to face Korra. "Not that I'm calling you irresponsible of course." She throws her a playful wink, "Just teasing."

She then closes her eyes to think with a hum. "Hmm… ah! That's right, and of course, it's all on the house so feel free to take what you like. I'll throw in some plant food and fertilizers for you along with a pamphlet on how to grow them."

"What…" at that note, Korra blinks repeatedly in confusion. "I mean… sure I overly-tipped you the last time" I guess "but there's no need for that! I can pay for whatever I was gonna get today."

Asami was quick to shrug her off. "Don't worry about that, it's fine."

"You sure…? Wouldn't the owner get mad at you or something?"

She then turns to face Korra with a bright smile. "Who? Me? I won't get mad at giving my new cute friend some free plants. Besides, we can use more people with green thumbs."

Korra ended up pointing at Asami by chance. "Wait… that means… you're the owner?"

"Mmhmm, the one and only." She confirmed with a cool gaze.

"Huh…" She blinked once since she was still buffering before the realization hit her. "Wait. You own this shop?"

Asami smiles amusingly before confirming, again. "Yup."

"Holy shit."

They both blink again for different reasons.

A hot ass flower owner with tattoos… I… fuck. "Anyways…" Korra coughs to break the tension before changing the topic. "In that case, you said something about succulents right? I heard they were cute."

Asami immediately brightens up. "Yes they are, let me show you what we got." She then guides Korra over to her selection.

Once Korra laid her eyes on them, she had a thought. Huh. Cute indeed. Or maybe they're cute cause Asami is basically fangirling over them?

Either way, whatever the case was, Korra stared at Asami intently as she explained her knowledge about plant care taking. She even listened carefully to tips that would be given to her pamphlet either way. There was something alluring about the way she talked and how captivating she was with every minor gestsure.

Boy oh boy, Korra fell hard.

After that fiasco… Korra ended up adopting a bunch of succulents and from that day onward, she visited that flower shop more than necessary. It became her new favorite place to swing by to pass time. The place was pleasant to the eyes and smelled nice and all but, first and foremost, Asami was her favorite person to hang with after working hours.

Maybe flowers and mini gardens were so bad after all.

The little collection of baby pots on Korra's window sill reminded her of those bright green eyes she grew to love. Something about those cute succulents made her feel giddy every time because, after all… they were the reason why she was so lucky. One could say she potted her luck by buying them.
