Buzz laid down in his bed, his day had been long, 4 years too long. As he turned on his side, S.O.X. was there.
"I can provide sleep sounds if you'd like."
Buzz looked at him.
"I have several options: Summer Nights, Ocean Paradise... Whale Calls."
Buzz turned away, about to request white noise, but there was something about how S.O.X. had said "Whale Calls" that made him curious.
"Sure, I'll go with whale calls."
So S.O.X. opened his mouth and an orchestra of whale calls arose. It was a sonnet of two whale lovers, separated from eachother, crossing the entire Ocean to be together. S.O.X. composed the verses together with such beauty and grace, and the end was so heartfelt and loaded with fluff, S.O.X. couldn't help but smile to himself; he was a true artist.
Of course Buzz didn't understand one note of it, he didn't speak whale, but as he fell asleep, he could feel a deep peace washing over him.
That night he slept more peacefully than he had in eons.
An when he woke up in the morning, he was more refreshed than he ever had before.
He would take that test flight again, it may cost him a century, but he would take his time, he would pause here and there to take in the life around him. Yes, he would eventually waste many years in his working out lightspeed, but maybe he wouldn't have to waste all of it.
THE END
