March 15, 2003
A pair of bright green eyes watched from the shadows as the beautiful, yet very curious creature sprinted off the back porch of her one story home and took to the air. The wings that carried her were magnificent, they reminded him of butterfly wings. The sun made them appear to glow as it shinned thru them, casting a magical display of lights of all shades of purple onto the ground below her. Her long white hair whipped around her as she darted through the sky. Surprisingly never once did it get tangled in her wings.
He was completely captivated by her and he was dying to know what she was.
He'd first seen her five days ago, in what the humans here on Midgard call a diner. He'd been standing across the street, observing the humans as they went about their mundane lives, when a ruckus from the other side of the road had caught his attention. Always up for a little mischief and mayhem he'd made his way over to where the commotion was coming from. What he'd found shocked him. Tables and chairs laid upended, food was scattered on the floor and a little slip of a girl with extremely long white hair was standing toe to toe with a giant of a man, cussing him three ways from Sunday. He felt his heart skip a beat when the girl had slugged the man across the face, laying him out cold.
He'd followed her every where since, hiding in the shadows observing her, watching her every move. She was incredible. He discovered quite a bit about her, like her ability to control the elements. That had been a wonderful surprise. He had been giddy for days after that little revelation. He couldn't wait to tell Thor, that a small human...okay not so human girl could do what he could, only better.
"OH SHIT!"
His head snap toward the sound, he'd been so lost in thought he'd failed to notice his little butterfly had somehow gotten her hair tangled around her and was in a swan dive headed straight for a large tree. And it was too late for him to do anything to help.
Time seem to slow as he watched her hit the tree. He could hear the snap of the branches and her curse as she hit what looked to be every damn limb on the way down."Ouch! Shit! Ow! Fuck! Ouch!" His body tensed with every hit and each snap of a branch. With a Fwoosh she hit the last limb bounced off it and hit the ground on her back with a solid 'FLOP!' Missing a root of the tree by inches.
"Ow." Was all she manged before she fell unconscious
He ran to her and skidded to a halt at her side. Using his magic he checked her for injuries and was shocked that the only injuries he could find was a few cuts, some scraps, minimum bruising and she had a slight concussion.
"What are you?" He wondered aloud, as he cupped her cheek. Upon contact his magic surged through him, like heroin through a junkie. Giving him a rush, a high so intense, that he could do nothing but grip onto the root the girl had landed beside with both hands, close his eyes and hold on for the ride. When it was over he was nearly breathless. His head hung between his arms, arms that were barely supporting his weight and tried like hell to catch his breath.
"What in the nine realms was that!?'" He choked out when he was finally able to breathe again.
"Fuck if I know!"He snapped his head up only to loose what little breath he had managed to regain. Violet purple eyes with wisps of silver in them stared back at him through a thick curtain of dark lashes.
"What!? Has my face turned green or something!?" She snapped as she clutched the back of her head and started trying to get up. Loki shook his head trying to clear it and got to his feet. He reached out to help her stand but she pulled out of his reach.
"No thanks, I'm fine." She pulled herself up to her feet, staggering some as she did. Not caring if she wanted his help or not, he wrapped his hand around her upper arm feeling little electrical shocks as he did and helped her gain her balance. She jerked her arm free and glared at him.
"I said I'm fine! Who are ya anyway and what the hell are ya doin' on my property!?" Loki smirked and bowed slightly
"I am Loki of Asgard, God of Mischief and Mayhem and who may you be my lady?"
"Winter, so yer Loki?" He gives her a nod. "As in the Loki from Norse Mythology?" Loki raised himself to his full height and puffed out his chest.
"So you know of me?" She shrugged
"Only what I've read, so what'cha doin' here Loki of Asgard?"
"Watching you." Her eyes went wide. He smiled "Imagine my surprise, when I a God posed as a lowly mortal came across a small slip of a human girl standing toe to toe with a mountain of a man. And imagine my even further surprise when said human knocked the mountain man out. "
"He shouldn't have been runnin' his mouth, so how long ya been watchin' me?"
"Since that day."
"Why ya wanna go and do a thin' like that?" A broad smile stretches across Loki's face.
"You fascinate me, I've been watching you for days and still do not know what you are."
"And I can trust ya why?" Loki steps closer to her, he was only inches from her now. He leans in and whispers in her ear.
"Because if I was going to tell anyone your little secrete, I already would have."

A year later
"I don't think I've ever seen you this nervous before. Are you alright?" He says teasingly to his sister as she makes another straight line between the two picnic tables, that set opposite each other in the back yard. She stops and looks at him like he's as dumb as a stump.
Keeping one arm behind his back, so she can't see the gift he'd gotten for her, he walks down the back steps and over to the table she's currently at. He hops up on it, hiding the gift behind him and motions for her to sit down. She does as he asks and goes and climbs up beside him. She props her elbows on her thighs and rests her head in the palms of her hands.
"Alright puddles tell big brother what's wrong. You look like you got some doubt creeping up in that head of yours." She snorts at his nickname for her
"Will ya ever stop callin' me that?" He grins.
"Probably not, now what's up?" She sighs.
"How is it you always know when somethin's wrong?" He wraps an arm around her shoulders and hugs her to his side.
"I'm your big brother it's my job to know." Dropping her arms she lays her head on his shoulder.
"Will ya be alright?"
"That's what's got you all in a tizzy? You're worried about me?" She nods.
"Yer not exactly the poster boy for stayin' out of trouble and takin' care of yerself." He laughs.
"Well I'm glad to know you have faith in me."
"It's not that bubba, I just don't like the thought of you bein' alone. I worry." He hugs her tight and kisses the top of her head.
"Thank you for caring enough about me to worry but I'll be fine. It's you I'm worried about. Running off to live with your alien boyfriend in another realm is a little crazy, don't you think? I mean the first six months of y'all knowing one another, you were at each others throats." She shrugs and sighs softly.
"He's my soulmate, the other half of me. We have a bond and can't be without one another. Yes we had problems in the beginning but that's because he's a pompous ass and I'll only put up with one pompous ass." She raises her head and grins at him.
"I'm not a pompous ass." He says with a pout. She giggles. "Why him?"
"He understands me. He knows what it's like to be something different. He knows how it feels to be kept in the dark about what ya are. He understands how it feels to be lied to your whole life by the people that are suppose to love you the most in this world."
"Pud I swear if I had known sooner I would have told you sooner." She smiles.
"I know you would have Tony, if it hadn't been for you I wouldn't have gotten through it when you did tell me. I just wish mama would have done it before she died." They sit quietly for a few moments before Tony breaks the silence with a sigh.
"So this is it, you're really leaving me."
"I love you bubba but I need him I can't be without him." Tony lets out a soft sob something that only Winter had ever witnessed and hugs her tightly to his chest.
"Please don't go." Winter sighs and wraps her arms around his waist.
"I promise bubba I'll be back, yer not gonna loose me."
"That's what it feels like, dammit Puddles you're all I got. I don't think I can make it with out you." She smiles against him
"Thought ya said you'd be okay?"
"I lied." Sighing lowly, he reaches behind his back to grab the gift he had hidden behind him. "I got you something." Winter grins at him.
"Ya didn't need ta do that bubba, ya buy me enough." He shrugs and places the gift in her hand.
"I'd buy you the moon if I could." Winter shakes her head and quickly makes work of the gold wrapping paper. When she opened the long rectangular box she let out a loud gasp. Laying nestled in black velvet was a pure silver rope chain that gleamed from the light shinning from the porch, attached to it was a stunning silver fairy pendent. The eyes of the fairy gleamed purple tanzanite and it laid on a bed of flowers made out of diamonds, sapphires and emeralds.
Winter let a sob and threw her arms around her brother.
"Thank you bubba I'll never take it off!" She turned her back to him and lifted her hair. "Put it on for me?" Tony happily obliged.
A thundering boom sounds through the area as a bright light appears from the sky. It shoots down not far from them, then disappears just has quick as it had came. Standing where the light had once been was a lean, yet muscular tall man with short black hair. He was dressed in green and black leather.
"Doesn't he own normal clothes?" Tony remarks for only Winter to hear. Winter giggles and smacks his arm.
"Tony be nice." She says with a smile then jumps off the table and takes off running toward her lover. Tony watches helplessly as she jumps into the God's arms. He knew the so called god was his sister's soulmate and he knew he'd do everything within his power to take care of her but that didn't lessen his fear. With a heavy sigh he climbs off the table, grabs what little she's taking with her then walks over to them.
Without a word he places the bag at Loki's feet and pulls Winter to him. He hugs her with everything in him.
"I love you bubba and I'll always be here with you. Even if you can't see me." The light that had brought Loki begins to form in the sky. With a sob she pulls away from him and goes back to Loki.
"Take care of her." Tony says just as the light from the bifröst covers them. Loki gives him a sincerer smile and nods. Then with a loud boom they vanish.
"I love you too, Puddles."

Asgard 5 years later.
"Come out, come out wherever you are." He chimed in an annoyed voice, as he stalked trough the royal garden. Trying his best to drown out the Asgardians that were turning out for his mother's birthday party, thanks to his mate. She had planned every last detail of this party, including the quest list and in his opinion she may have went just a tad over board.
"When I find you my beauty the whole of Asgard will hear you screaming my name." The little minx had decided that while she helped him ready for his mother's party it would be fun to make love to him with her mouth, bring him to the edge of his release, then go hide in the fucking garden. Good thing they still had about a hour before the party. Not as much time as he would have liked but as his wife always says beggars can't be choosers.
A musical laughter rings out through the garden and his white haired violent eyed goddess steps out from behind the Thuja Arborvitae shrubs. She smiles.
"Ya gotta catch me first!" With a smirk he vanishes. "Hey, no fair!" Winter calls out.
"All is fair in love and war, my dear." He coos huskily in her ear as he wraps his arms gently around her from behind, pulling her as tightly as he dared to him and laying one hand protectively over her stomach.
"Are you okay?" She sighs and thinks to herself. 'Here we go again.'
"Loki everything is gonna be fine. Don't worry so much."
"I can't help it, what if he or she is like me?"
"So what if they are? I think they'd be lucky ta be like their father, all of ya. Loki, sweetheart I don't care if the baby is part peacock as long as yer the father. If our child does wind up showin' sighs of havin' Frost Giant blood in'um, then they'll just have it. This is my child and I dare anyone to treat he or she wrongly, includin' you!" Loki takes a step back away from her and cocks his head to the side.
"Do you really think I'd act any differently toward my child if he or she had Frost Giant blood?" Winter gives a slight shrug of her shoulders
"I don't know anymore. When we first found out that thought didn't even cross my mind, I knew you'd be a wonderful father. But the more you go on about the baby being like you, I'm starting to have thoughts that I shouldn't be havin', about the father of my unborn child! I know ya hate what ya are, I know ya hate the life you've been dealt and I can't stand the thought of ya takin' that hate out on our kid! I won't let our son or daughter suffer through that! I'll die before anyone harms or mistreats my child!" Loki reaches out and gently pulls her into his arms. He places his hand over her stomach and caresses it gently.
"I swear to you that will never happen, I apologize my love for leading you to believe that it would. I promise that never a day shall go by that our child does not know of my love for them and their mother. I only worry that the child might be like me because of the effect it may have on you. We don't know what this pregnancy might do to you. I don't want anything to happen to you, I can't live without you."
With a blinding smile Winter crashes her lips to his. She felt a little guilty for feeling the way she had, now knowing his true reasoning for the way he'd started acting. She should have known better but what could she say she was pregnant.
Pulling away from her lips, Loki moves his own to the crevice of her neck and begins to kiss his way slowly up, when he reaches her ear he whispers. "Since you are alright darling and since we have a little time before the party." He gently takes her hand and moves it between them, placing it on his rock hard member. "You have a big problem to take care of." A wicked smirk graces Winters face.
"Ya know when my husband finds out about this he's gonna be beyond pissed." She says breathlessly.
"Is that so?" Loki replies silkily and continues to place open mouth kisses along her neck and shoulder. All the while continuing to guide her hand up and down over his leather clad cock. Winter's body melts against him as she lets out a low moan. Causing Loki's lust and need for her to sky rocket
"Yep, he doesn't like other men touchin' me."
"Hmm, I am sure he'll understand." She giggles and slips her hand from his grasp and down into his pants. He lets out a low hiss and grips her hips tightly.
"I don't know about that, he's very possessive. He told me once that I was only his and if any man other than him ever touches me like yer doing now sir, he'd kill them slow and very painfully." He backs her against the Thuja Arborvitae and presses his body flush to hers
"And I meant every damn word. No one can have you, you are mine Winter Odinson." She pulls her hand from his pants, unhooks his belt, pops the button and slips them off his hips.
"Show me." With a growl he pulls the silk emerald green dress she's wearing up around her hips, picks her up wrapping her legs around him, thanking the fates she had on no panties and slides himself deep inside her.
"Brother! Sister! Where are you!?" Thor's booming voice echos teasingly through the garden. The couple both let out an aggravated groan and with heavy reluctance separate.
"If I kill him will you help me hide his body?" Loki asks his wife as he does his best to shove his still very hard cock back in his pants
"As if you could!" Thor booms coming around the corner. Luckily Loki had manged to get the buttons fasten on his pants, so his brother hadn't seen anything, thank the Fates. Winter stalks over to Thor and back hands him hard in the gut. Not expecting it Thor doubles over just a bit.
"Ya have the worst fuckin' timin'!" She hisses at him. He barks out a laugh and straightens back up.
"I do apologize for interrupting your christening of the garden, sister but Father sent me to fetch your husband. And it isn't me that has bad timing." He snickers. Winter just flips him off, only causing him to laugh harder. Loki steps up behind Winter and wraps his arms protectively around her. He lays his chin on top of her head and eyes Thor.
"What does he want?" Thor calms his laughter.
"He said he needed to speak to the both us about final preparations for mothers gift."
"The party starts in forty minutes what possible final preparations is there to make? And besides why does he need me? The gift wasn't my idea." Thor shrugs.
"You are going to have to ask him that. I'm just the messenger." Winter leans back against Loki's left shoulder and looks up at him.
"Go, I'll meet you there I need to run back to our room first, I forgot my necklace! And my brother will strangle me if he finds out I took it off in the first place!"
"But?" She smiles.
"Go on. Go make sure Odin doesn't screw up Frigga's gift." She looks back at Thor. "And you dear big brother don't do somethin' stupid and make yerself look like an ass today."
"You act like I'm going to forget to show up or something." Thor grumbles crossing his arms and poking his bottom lip out in a pout. Loki and Winter couldn't help the laughter that erupted from them. Here he was a demigod built like a brick shit house and he was pouting. It was an amusing sight to see.
After a few seconds of nonstop laughter at his brother's expense Loki finally takes pity on him.
"We're sorry brother, come lets go see what Father wants and get this over with" He turns his eyes to Winter as a devious smirk come across his face "If we hurry the hell up I can get back to fucking my wife." Thor damn near chokes on air at his words and Winter just shakes her head and laughs.
"Loki I can't believe ya just said that!" He shrugs.
"You said almost the same thing to Sif last week." Winter grins.
"So should I meet you back here instead of inside?" Loki grins.
"Definitely."
"My dear prince I think ya've been around me just a little too long. Yer a horn dog." He chuckles a bit then gets serious and pulls her hard against him.
"All the time in the universe is still not long enough for me to be by your side." The last word being said as his lips touches hers.
"Can we go now, before my breakfast reappears?" Thor says while pretending to gag at the sight of his brother and sister. In truth he loved it. It made him happy to see his younger brother so happy and in love. Winter had, had a very positive and profound affect on Loki. Something no one before her had. He left his chaotic, manipulating, lying ways behind and became the demigod Thor had always knew he could be. But Loki wasn't the only one she'd had an effect on. Winter seem to have an affect on them all. His mother and father absolutely loved her, more than himself and Loki combined he sometimes thought. She was the daughter they never had. Lady Sif and the Warriors Three adored her and he himself saw her as the little sister he'd always wanted and he was ferociously protective of her.
Winter snickers against Loki's lips at Thor's playful jab. Loki rolls his eyes and pulls regretfully away from her.
"I'll see you soon."
"I'll be here." Before he could lean in to kiss her again. Thor throws his arm over his shoulders and pulls him away.
"Come on lover boy, you can shove your tongue down her throat after we talk to father"
* WTA *
"My love, what troubles you so? You've been acting strange these last couple of days and it's starting to worry me" Frigga whispers to her husband as she steps quietly up beside him as he stands on the balcony of their room watching the people gather for her party. Yes she knew of the celebration her daughter-in-law had orchestrated for her, it wasn't a surprise.
"I am fine Frigga." She wanted very much to believe him but she couldn't, something just wasn't sitting right with her. Odin looked tired, depressed and just down right brokenhearted. And for the life of her she couldn't understand why. It was a day of joy and celebration but there was no joy in her husband and Odin wouldn't talk to her so she could understand.
"Talk to me Odin, tell me what's wrong." Taking his eye from the crowed that stood waiting for his wife's party to start and turning to his queen he whispers only for her to hear.
"Frigga I've got a horrible feeling that something's going to happen, something that with even all my power I can not prevent. And it will destroy everything. Everything we hold dear to us." She takes his hand.
"Oh my love why haven't you come to me about this?"
"Because I was hoping I was wrong..." He hesitates for a second."But now I know I'm not and last night convinced me otherwise"
"What happened last night?" She asks quietly, not really wanting to hear the answer but she needed to know. She needed to be prepared for whatever it was that was going to happen.
"Last night I..." Before he can utter another word, a knock comes from the door of their chambers.
"Come!" The guard that had been stationed not too far from the room comes up to him and whispers something in his ear. He gives the guard a nod.
"Send them in." The guard turns and heads back for the door. Seconds later Thor and Loki come tearing into their chambers. Frigga has to bite her tongue to keep from laughing at what's taking place in front of her. Loki has Thor in a headlock scrubbing his knuckles into the top of his head, laughing his ass off. While Thor is crying uncle and trying his damnedest to get free .
Trying her best to push her amusement and the fear that had built up in her at Odin's behavior to the side, she puts on her best motherly smile and calls for Thor and Loki to calm down and stop acting like a couple of ogres.
"Yes mother!" The brothers snicker out in unison and break away from each other. It warmed her heart to see her boys closer than they had ever been before, at least on Loki's part. And it was all due to the amazing woman he had falling in love with. When Loki had first come to them about Winter, Odin had been livid. Not that Loki had ventured to Midgard, he had done that many times but not in many years.
No Odin was pissed because this time he had bedded one of them, then had the gall to ask if he could bring her here to live with him. His answer had been a flat out no! But then Loki had done something that never in his life had he done before or would again, he had gotten down on his knees and begged and pleaded for his father to please grant him this one gift.
This had shocked both her and her husband greatly. And to her even further surprise, Odin had told their son he would consider his request. It hadn't taken Odin long to make his decision and allow Loki to bring the human to Asgard. It had astonished the hell out of her. Never in her wildest dreams would she have ever believed Odin would allow a human to come to Asgard, let alone live there. When she had asked him why? He had smiled and told her that any woman that had his son, a man who would have normally just lied, schemed, manipulated and caused mayhem to get what he wanted. Coming to him and pleading with him like a child, interested him immensely and he wanted to meet her.
Frigga had been worried at first, she hadn't been sure how Winter would take to Asgard and vice versa. But she should have known better, a woman that could grab her son's heart and keep it had to be special. And she was. Even though Winter was from Midgard her daughter-in-law was no normal Midgardian. She was in fact a Fae, a fairy for those that don't know. And a magic wielder like her son and an elemental. She had come into their lives like a whirlwind and flipped them upside down. Winter brought a liveliness to the palace that wasn't there before. She had the playfulness of a child but a ferocity and fearlessness of a rabid wolf.
Her and Odin adored Winter like the daughter they had always wanted but never had. Thor, Sif and the Warriors Three saw her as a baby sister, that they were very protective of and loyal to. The people of Asgard loved her and Loki well if she had to describe it out loud, she would simply say that Winter owned her son. Mind, body, heart and soul. He worshiped her in every way. And she was the same with him. But that's what happens when you share one soul. Oh she knew they were soulmates each others, other halves. Neither had came out and said that they were but she knew and never said a word. It wasn't hard to guess when not long after Winter's arrival, several people including herself had seen first-hand what happens when someone crosses Winter when it came to Loki. Poor guard was in the healing ward for a month.
"Where is Winter?" Frigga asks her youngest son.
"She will be here mother, she left her necklace in our room and went to collect it. You know she can't go anywhere without it."
"Ah but why are you not with her?" He shrugs.
"Thor said Father wanted to speak with me about your birthday gift." This little tidbit of news perked the Asgardian Queen right up. She smiled sweetly at Odin, who just rolled his eye
"Don't get your hopes up my Queen I'm not telling you what it is." He turned his eye to his boys. "I wanted to let you know that I've decided that the gift giving shall be done at the start of Frigga's party." Loki smirks.
"And you would like for me to convince my darling wife not to murder you in your sleep." Odin clears his throat.
"Yes." Both Thor and Frigga have to bite the inside of their cheeks to keep from laughing. Loki just smiles.
"I shall see what I can do."
"Thank you." Frigga grins.
"To think my husband the mighty All Father, Odin King of Asgard is afraid of a fairy!" Odin nods
"Damn right! She's mean, that fairy is scary!" Frigga couldn't hold it any longer she burst out laughing her two sons joining her. After a full minute of nonstop laughter Odin sighs and clears his throat.
"Alright you three enough, you've had your laugh." It takes a second but the three are able to calm themselves enough to stop laughing. Loki shakes his head at his families antics, it felt good to be able to laugh and joke with his family again. There had been a rip between him and his family after discovering his true parentage and he thought that there would be no way to close it. Then Winter had come along and that rip had begun to heal.
"Father I need to ask something of you. I wish to take Winter to see her brother on Midgard for awhile. She has not seen him since his return from being captured a year ago and she really wants him there when she gives birth to our child. Plus he'll have a coronary if he's not there when she gives birth, he's already going to flip when he hears she's pregnant."
His statement is met with absolute silence. The three beings stare at him in surprise, two of them with their lower jaws hung ajar. This causes Loki to let out a soft chuckle.
"Sorry we haven't told you yet but..." His mothers joyful squeal cuts him off and she throws her arms around his neck.
"Oh Loki this is the absolute best birthday gift I could ever receive! Such glorious news!"
"Congratulations brother! You've just made this day even more wonderful!" Thor says happily pulling his brother into an embrace.
"Thank you." Loki says returning his brothers affection before looking to his father to judge his reaction. Odin smiles softly.
"Your mother is right, this is wondrous news Loki. It will be nice to hear the pitter-patter of little feet running through the palace again." Odin walks over and places a hand on Loki's shoulder. "I am proud of you my son." Loki gives him a small yet sincere smile.
"Thank you father." Hearing Odin say that warmed his heart a little. It was no secret that the rip between him and his father had always been greater, due to his disruptive behavior. Which had only became worse when Odin had revealed his true parentage to him.
It still amazed him at times that all it took to change his relationship with his father, brother, his friends, his life period was a long overdue trip to Midgard.
"I take it you will be leaving right after the party?" Loki shakes his head.
"No, Winter wants to stay another day or two, so she can tell all of you about the baby, so please act like you don't know and be surprised. Otherwise I'm going to be, as the Midgardians put it in the dog house." Odin and Thor let out a booming bark of laughter, while Frigga giggles happily and hugs her son.
"Your father and I promise to act surprised." Thor slaps him on the back.
"As do I brother. I would hate for you to as you say be in the dog house. Staying in a dog house doesn't sound very appealing." Loki snorts.
"I won't be staying in a dog house Thor, I'll be in deep shit as in trouble, as in she'll kick my ass." Thor laughs.
"Then I really do promise to act surprised that sister of mine is very scary when she is pissed!"
"Indeed." Loki says with a smirk then turns to his father. "Is there anything else you wish to discuss with me father?"
"No, that is all."
"Then if you'll excuse me, I must collect my wife for the party." Thor snorts and coughs "Bullshit." Under his breath. Loki gives him a devilish smirk. He knew, Thor knew damn well he wasn't just going to get his wife.
"Problems brother?"
"Nope!" Thor says with a grin. "Mind if I walk with you? I need go and get mothers gift now since the gift giving as been moved forward." Loki shrugs and makes his departure. Thor tagging along beside.
As they walked, such a premonition of horror and darkness struck Loki that he stopped, stopped cold and looked around in fear wondering what could have possibly come over him.
"Brother?" Thor called coming to a stop a few steps ahead of him. Loki reaches out and grabs onto his arm clutching it tightly as he collapses to his knees bringing Thor down with him
"Something's wrong." He whispers in a confused frighten voice. Loki's arms and back had broken out into great rashes of goose flesh. His heart raced, his scalp felt cool and abruptly to small to cover his skull. And it felt like there was a fucking swarm of butterflies fluttering around in his stomach.
"What is it?" Thor asks in a clearly worried and shaken voice. Loki shakes his head.
"I.." The frighted voice of Fandral cascades off the walls cutting him off and paralyzing him with fear.
"The garden! Loki, Thor get to the garden!"
* WTA *
Sif walked behind the Warriors Three listening to them talk of days past and who had, had the best battles. She'd never admit it to them but she liked to listen to these stories. Some of them she had not been around for, so hearing the details of those battles interested her.
As they start to pass by the west entrance of the garden an unnaturally cold chill sweeps over Sif, causing her to pause. 'Something's wrong.' She thinks to herself.
"Hey guys!" She yells startling the three men.
"What's wrong Sif?" Fandral asks turning with the other two to look her way.
"I'm not sure, I just feel like something's off." A sudden panic rises up in Sif and without warning she turns and blots into the garden.
Her three companions had been so stunned by her sudden actions that it took them a second to register what had happen. Once it finally clicked they quickly dash off after her.
Sif and the Warriors Three had seen a lot of blood in the many battles they'd been apart of but none of the battles they'd been in had ever prepared them for the sight they came upon. Blood was everywhere.
It covered a large portion of the golden fountain that set in the middle of the garden, turning it a sickly orange color. Blood dripped off the side into the water turning it a reddish pink. The ground around that area of the fountain glistened a dark red in the sunlight beaming down on the garden. The flowers and shrubbery that set just feet away from the fountain looked as if they had been sprayed with it.
The horrible squishing sound the blood covered ground made as they come to stand by the fountain, made Sif feel ill.
"What happened here?" Fandral asked to no one in particular.
"I don't know." Sif replied automatically as she moved away from the men, following a particularly large trail of blood. It lead away from the fountain and over to the small wood tea house that set snugly against the garden wall. As she stepped cautiously toward the little gazebo, she could see what she thought looked like a bloody mass of white fur.
But as she got closer she could see that it wasn't fur, it was hair. Long white hair. Sif's heart sank, there was only one person she knew that had hair like that. With a jolt she dashes the rest of the way to the gazebo.
Her eyes widen with horror as she comes to a stop, she turns her to the side and brings up everything she'd eaten that day.
Seeing this Hogan takes a couple of steps her way and yells out.
"Lady Sif are you okay!?" She shakes her head no and chokes out.
"Fandral go find Loki and Thor!"
"Why!?" He asks with fear and trepidation festering like a cancer in his stomach.
"GO, NOW!" Sif bellows and flings herself at something in the gazebo. The desperation and anguish in her voice has Fandral running from the garden as fast as his legs and feet would allow. Knowing where one of the two men had to be, he headed straight for the All Fathers chambers and hoped like hell Loki was there also.
Running at full speed Fandral tore through the palace knocking down a healer, two maids and one very pissed off guard along the way. Of course he hadn't meant to barrel them out of his way but something told him not to stop, not to stop or slow down til he found Loki and Thor.
He had been friends with Sif for many years and never once had he seen her loose her shit like she just had. He could think of only one thing or person that could cause that type of reaction in Sif and his heart dropped. 'No! It can't be!' His mind screamed at him
But has he came around the corner of the hallway that lead to the King and Queens room and saw Loki and Thor on their knees, Loki gripping onto Thor's arm like a drowning man gripping a life preserver. He knew without a doubt it that his fear were justified.
Taking in a deep breath Fandral yelled as loud as he could
"The garden! Loki, Thor get to the garden!"

Thor asked no questions, he knew something was wrong, horribly wrong. Helping his brother back to his feet, he wrapped one arm around Loki's waist and with a twirl of his hammer shot off toward the garden. He almost dropped Loki and fell out of the sky as he came upon the garden. His eyes widen with horror as he took in the scene. Blood covered the ground around the fountain, the hedges, shrubs and flowers. There was blood on the fountain and it dripped into the water causing the fountain to spewed forth shimmering reddish pink water.
Hogan and Volstagg stood with their heads bowed just outside the little gazebo, where his mother and Winter had, had many a late night talking about nothing and everything. They sounded as if they were crying.
"What's happened, where did this blood come from!? Who's blood is this!?" Thor bellows has he lands not feet from the entrance to the gazebo. Upon their landing Loki jerks free from his grasp and rushes into the gazebo letting out a heart wrenching scream has he enters.
Sif backs out of the tea house to let Loki in and turns her tear stained face to Thor. "I'm so sorry, she's not going to make it." Shaking his head no he staggers his way to the gazebo. He needed to see for himself. It wasn't true, Loki's wail, Sif's swollen face meant nothing! 'It's not true!' His mind screamed at him. All his hopes were dashed as he lay eyes upon his sobbing, burbling brother cradling his bloody, dying wife. Falling to his knees Thor lets a cry of grief and pain.
Loki didn't hear his brothers cry of pain or the broken sobs of their friends. He was desperately trying to save his wife, his soulmate. He was pushing every ounce of magic he had into her and their baby hoping for a miracle and begging her to fight.
"You promised me dammit, you promised you'd never leave me! Hold on to me dammit, don't let go!" Winter gives him a bloody smile and with her last breath whispers out "I'm sorry, I love you." Then closes her eyes one last time.
"NO!" He screams as the world around him begin to cave in on him. "No, no, no, no! YOU PROMISED ME!" He begins to shake her, when she doesn't open her eyes or respond, he pulls her tightly to him and lets out a scream of anguish so loud all of Asgard heard him.
High above standing on the balcony of his and his queens chambers, Odin wept.

Malibu California
April 2009
12:00pm
Tony stood staring confused out his big bay windows at the violent storm that had started out of nowhere, the sky had been clear and blue just moments ago. "What the hell is going on?" he whispers to himself. Before he could ask Jarvis to figure out what the hell was happening, a deep voice spoke from behind him.
"Are you Tony Stark?" Whirling around his eyes widen at the large blond man standing only feet from him. Taking in his appearance Tony smirks. "The Renaissance festival isn't until September, a little over excited aren't we?" The man just stares back at him and it was at this moment Tony noticed that the mans eyes were very red and swollen from what Tony could only assume was crying. A sudden wave of dread washes over him and his body goes ramrod straight. Something's wrong, he could feel it. After what seemed liked forever to Tony the man spoke.
"I am Thor of Asgard and I ask again are you the brother of Loki's wife, Lady Winter?"
"Yes. What's going on, has something happened to my sister!?" Thor chokes back a sob and whispers out just loud enough for Tony to hear.
"She's dead, murdered by a guard of Asgard seeking revenge and her body has gone missing." The room around Tony starts to spin and his heart begins trying to beat out of his chest.
"You're lying!" He manages to spit out through clenched teeth. Thor opens up his closed fist and lets something long and shiny dangle from it. Tony knows instantly what it is. It's the fairy necklace he'd given his baby sister before she left five years ago.
Tony letting out a cry, dashes for the waste bin that's kept behind the wet bar and barley makes it before bringing up everything in his stomach. Thor, who was not handling his own grief very well and knowing there was nothing he could say or do that would help in this situation, stepped forward and laid the necklace down on the counter in front of the devastated man.
"I want you to know we are doing everything to find her and return her, here to Midgard so that you may lay her to rest and say your goodbyes." With one last sad look at Tony Stark, Thor turned and left.
2:30pm
"ANOTHNY EDWARD STARK! WHEN I FIND YOU, YOU BETTER BE DEAD OR DIEING! BECAUSE I'M GOING TO KILL YOU IF YOU'RE NOT!" Pepper Potts yells as she storms into Tony's Malibu home. She's livid.
Tony was suppose to have been at a very important meeting that had, had the potential of making Stark Industries a shit ton of money, an hour and a half ago. But he had never showed.
When it had been clear that Tony wasn't going to show, Pepper began her search of him. After two dozen calls to his home and cell with no answer. And half that number in text also going unanswered, she got scared. Being Iron Man, Tony had his fair share of enemies and any damn thing could have happened. But when Happy had shown up stating that Tony was not coming and didn't know why. Pepper got pissed and had, had Happy drive her straight to the mansion.
Pepper finds the focus of her anger standing in front of the large bay windows that encased the living area, with a half glass of whiskey in one hand and a silver necklace in the other, looking out at the ocean. She opens her mouth, ready to tell Tony exactly what she thought of him at this very moment but something that she never in a million years believed could happen stops her cold.
Tony Stark's crying.
"Tony?" She calls softly. When he offers no reply she tentatively moves to stand beside him. Her eyes immediately go toward the necklace in his hand, she couldn't help it. The way it glistened in the afternoon sun was almost hypnotizing.
The chain itself was nothing really special, it was pretty but was just a sliver rope chain but the pendent that hang from it was a different story. It was absolutely beautiful. A stunning silver fairy with purple tanzanite eyes lay on a bed of flowers made out of diamonds, sapphires and emeralds.
She reaches out to touch it but stops with a gasp as it's jerked out of her reach.
"Don't touch it!" Slowly she moves her eyes up to Tony and takes a step back. The look on his face is murderous. For the first time since she had met Tony Stark she was afraid of him, not for him.
"Tony I..." Before she could finish her statement, the glass that he'd been holding goes sailing across the room and hits the wall shattering.
"I TOLD HER HE'D GET HER KILLED AND SHE WOULDN'T LISTEN TO ME! NOW SHE'S DEAD!" Tony's angry shouts turn to loud sobs as his legs buckle beneath him and he comes to his knees.
Pepper looks at him wide eyed only for a moment before she also comes to her knees and throws her arms around Tony pulling him close. He wraps his arms around her and grips her tight.
"I couldn't protect her Pepper! Oh God I couldn't protect her! I promised her I would, I promised her and I failed!" Trying like hell to fight back the tears that had started to fall at the pain and grief in Tony's sobs and keep her voice as calm as possible, for his sake. Pepper asks.
"Who are you talking about Tony?" It takes a few moments but slowly Tony's sobs begin to fade till the room becomes so quite you could hear a pin drop. After a minute of complete silence he whispers.
"My sister." Pepper's brow rises to her hairline as her eyes widen in shock.
"S-sister?" She chokes out. He nods. "But Tony you don't have a sister."
"No one knew but me." Tony sighs brokenly and climbs to his feet. He walks over to the bar and grabs the half drunk bottle of whiskey and turns it up. Once he comes up for air he slams the bottle back on the bar, then turns to stare back out the window.
"I knew my father was mediocre at best when it came to being a father, but I never dreamed he could be a heartless bastard. My mother gave him everything and he repaid her in the end by having an affair and the sad part was she knew." Pepper gasps. "I found out about Winter a year after my parents died, I was going through some old boxes of my mothers and found a picture of a very pretty pregnant woman, that was in noway my mother. On the back of the picture it had a first and last name and that was it. Me being me, well I couldn't just let it go! I tried to get the picture off my mind but couldn't, so without letting on at what I was doing to anyone, I tracked her down." He reaches for the bottle of whiskey and takes another big swig, when he brings the bottle away from his lips he lets out a choked laugh.
"I still remember the day I met Winter so clearly, I'll never forget it. I had been sitting in my car out by the curb for at least an hour, debating with myself whether I really wanted to find out who this woman truly was, when all of the sudden a loud scream ripped it's way through the house. I was out of my car running toward the house excepting the worst, when the front door banged open and a little girl about four years old, with the whitest hair I'd ever seen came barreling out. The woman in the photo right behind her. The little girl ran straight for a mud-puddle in the drive and jumped right in. Letting out a laugh that would make even the hardest of hearts swell with love for her." The tears start to flow. "She had me then Pepper from the moment I laid eyes on her and heard her laugh, I was wrapped around her finger tighter than a fucking rubber band. I vowed then that I would be the best damn brother in the whole fucking world and nothing or no one would ever touch my baby sister with the intent to harm, I would protect her with my life and.."
Quicker than Pepper could blink, Tony turns grabs the bottle of whiskey he'd been drinking from and with a yell throws the bottle as hard as he can into the glasses behind the bar. Sending glass and liqueur everywhere.
"I FAILD! SHE'S DEAD, MURDERED BECUASE I FAILED! I COULDN'T PROTECT HER!" Pepper rushes over to him and throws her arms around him pulling him to her.
"Tony this isn't your fault, you couldn't have known this would happen! You couldn't have known some heartless lowlife bastard would take her life! If you had I know you would have protected her or died trying!" Tony shakes his head and pulls away from her.
"But I did know! I knew the moment she told me about him he would get her killed and I didn't stop it! I didn't step in like I knew I should have and put a stop to their little romance before it even begin but I didn't! I told myself she'd be okay, that it was her life! I convinced myself that he loved her enough to make damn sure nothing happened to her! I let my guard down and trusted him! And I CAN'T EVEN SAY GOODBYE, SHE MISSING!" Pepper gasps and stutters out.
"W-what?" But she doesn't get an answer. Without another word Tony turns and storms his way out of the room, leaving Pepper standing there with tears streaming down her face, praying to anybody that would listen that Tony would be alright. But she had a sickening feeling in the pit of her stomach that he wasn't, not for a very long time.
