It is said that every story has to have begun somewhere. The case is very much the same for this story. This story leads to the end of all of humanity, transforming the world into a wasteland ruled only by machines. However, this robotic uprising has a very human cause behind it.
It all began with a man named Igor Ferdinand. He was a boy born in a normal family. When Igor grew up, he gained an interest in politics, one which he did not share with the rest of his family. At this time, his nation, after multiple wars and bad decisions from its leaders, was a very weak country, constantly being trampled on by its more powerful neighbours. Igor knew this from a young age and wanted to change that. He wanted his nation to be the great power it once was. He wanted to be the one to change his country.
When Igor became an adult, he went to university and took mostly courses focused on politics. Igor showed from the very beginning that he was an exceptional student, always scoring top in his classes and showing outstanding understanding of any topic he was given. Teachers would lavish Igor with praise for his exemplary abilities. Igor loved the attention and admiration that he was given and grew to love the attention and power more than anything else.
During Igor's time in college, he would have an interaction that would change his life completely and forever.
Vladamir: Hey, Igor! I would like to talk to you.
Igor: Hey Vlad It's great to see you again. So what is it that you want?
Vladimir: We have known each other for a long time, ever since you came to this place.
Igor: Yeah, good times, that is.
Vladimir: So Igor I need to ask you something. I have recently been getting involved with a political party called the National Party. It is a party that strives to bring our nation back to its glory days of power. I know this is something that you have wanted for a while. I could use your help with this. You are the best political speaker that I have ever seen.
Igor: You know what, I am in, Vlad.
Vladimir: That is what I love to hear.
That is when the winds of change began. Igor and Vladimir would join the political party soon after. The two would end up making their way up the ranks of the party. The party was very weak at the time, with very few members and very few supporters. Igor, in particular, would use his excellent knowledge of politics and his amazing public speaking skills to gain favour with many members of the party.
At one point, Igor was scheduled to perform a speech during a political rally after the previous speaker dropped out. Igor was ready for this. This was his golden opportunity to gain more and more status within the party. Igor walked on stage to a crowd of people all waiting for his speech.
Igor: Let me make this clear I understand that I am a new member of this party and this is my first time speaking like this. I am, however, completely committed to the ideals of this. For far too long, this country has been plagued by weak leadership; leadership that bows to any demand made by our neighbors, and leadership that will never stand up for itself. This country was once a superpower. The name of our nation struck fear into the hearts of many, and now it's a joke. I say it is time for a change, time for us to gain leadership that is not afraid to take what it wants, one that is not afraid to fight instead of cowering in fear, one that looks out for the glory of its people.
Igor ended that opening statement with a round of applause. Igor felt so awarded. It was feeling his desire for attention and power. He was gaining the ultimate attention. He had a crowd of people appreciating everything that he was doing. Igor would finish the rest of his speech by talking about what he plans to do if he is elected.
Vladimir: Man, that was an amazing speech. Igor, the crowd went crazy. You know how to touch them where it matters.
Igor: I know, it felt so much like it needed to. The speech, however, wasn't just for the leadership of this country, it was also for the leadership of this party.
Igor gave a glare toward Ivan, the current leader of the party. Right away, Ivan knew what this meant. Igor was vying to take his spot as leader of this party.
Ivan: That is absolutely out of the question, Igor.
Ivan walked away, offended at the mere insulation of the idea of giving up the power that he had. Igor and Vladimir both desired a change in leadership, and both desired to take over the position, but Igor was more determined than anyone else.
Igor would meet up with two thugs and pay them a large sum of money to get rid of Ivan. The two thugs would storm Ivan's house, kidnap him, tie him to a chair, and then execute him. The two thugs then brought Ivan's dead body to Igor.
Igor, however, did not want to lose such valuable money. When the two thugs were least expecting it, Igor got out his gun and shot both of them dead. Igor then dumped the three bodies into the river, where he knew that they would never be found again.
Three days would pass with Ivan not showing up to the usual meetings of the party. Most were concerned, but Igor was not, as he knew what happened and was waiting to make his move. Five more days later, everyone was getting impatient and doubting that Ivan would ever show up again. Igor took this opportunity to make his move.
Igor: Esteemed colleagues, in light of Ivan's unfortunate disappearance, I propose that we elect a new leader.
Vladimir: How do you feel we should do that?
Igor: I propose that we have an election where all of us vote on a new leader. I will be running myself.
Nobody else wanted to do so, except for one person.
Vladimir: I will run as well.
Igor: May the best man win.
Vladimir: Likewise.
The two shook hands, ready to begin their competition for the title of the new leader of the National Party. The race between the two was tight and close, with each campaigning hard for it, but Igor more so. The vote was incredibly close, but Igor managed to win the election and was made the new leader of the National Party. Vladimir was disappointed he didn't win but proud of his friend for doing so.
Vladimir: Good game.
Igor: Good game.
Now that Igor had gotten a taste of as much power as he had now, his desire for power and attention was starting to grow stronger. This position wasn't enough for him; he wanted even more. Igor wanted to be the ruler of all of the nation and the next elections were coming up, so it was finally his chance. Igor already had a lot of public support after the speech he gave, so the news of him being the new leader of the party gathered a lot of praise. Igor, however, wasn't sure if that was enough and wanted to make sure that he was able to win the election.
Igor approached a gang of criminals, disguising his voice and appearance so they wouldn't know that it was him, he told them.
Igor: Listen up here, men. I happen to be a very wealthy man that is willing to pay you millions if you give me one thing.
Gang Leader: And what might that be?
Igor: I happen to be a very big supporter of Igor Ferdinand. We need him to return our nation to its former glory. I want you to go to as many houses as you can find and get the people inside to vote for him.
Gang Leader: That is all you want us to do in exchange for millions?
Igor: That is correct.
Gang Leader: You have yourself a deal there sir.
The gang would do exactly that and threaten many people into voting for Igor. News of this would quickly spread, which is exactly what Igor wanted. He gave a speech to the public where he said.
Igor: I want to let you all know that I condemn the actions of these criminals. Elections should be fair and square, and nobody should be forced to vote for anyone or anything. I hope that soon the police can catch these criminals and stop what they are doing.
Igor knew, however, that would never happen. The attacks continued well into election day, and the police were unable to make significant headway. Igor knew that the police were weak and would never be able to catch these criminals. After everyone had voted, the group of criminals who were expecting to receive their millions decided to reconvene with their unknown client.
Gang Leader: We did everything that you asked of us. Where is that paycheck you promised?
Igor: This is very funny, I have to admit.
Gang Leader: What are you talking about?
Igor: That you fools were all so gullible.
Igor set off a bomb inside the building, killing off most of the gang leaders. Igor himself was safe from a distance, as the one inside was not him but a robot taking on his appearance. Now, none of the gang would ever be a problem for him ever again.
Igor's plan had gone perfectly. Everyone had already voted, so there was no way for things to be changed. The gang intimidated many people into voting for him and being eliminated as witnesses, which meant he no longer needed to pay the money. That, along with Igor's natural ability for public speaking, meant he had this election nearly in the bag.
As the day to announce the winner approached, Igor was keeping a close eye on the news, and once the game was over, he was ready to listen to the answer.
Reporter: The party that has won the bid for the presidency is the National Party for the very first time.
The entire party, who were also watching these, exploded in excitement; they had finally gained everything they wanted. Nobody felt more proud, however, than Igor himself. He had achieved a dream that he never imagined; he was now the president of the nation.
Igor loved his new position as president. He was passing law after law and had already begun the process of creating more and more changes to how the nation worked. He would increase the spending and strength of the military. He would start standing up to other countries and not listen to any of their demands.
Igor, however, would begin his descent into tyranny. He was terrified of losing the power that he had amassed, and several members of his party were already plotting behind his back. Igor began enacting deadly mass purges of his own, ordering the assassination and execution of any party member that he deemed to be a problem. Igor was also ridding the government of anyone with opposing ideologies to him. Igor had lost sight of anything else other than maintaining his power.
Igor was particularly eyeing one person, his friend Vladimir. Vladimir was the only one that was willing to challenge Igor for his position as leader of the party, and Igor was worried about him attempting to launch a coup when he found out about the mass purges that he was enacting. Igor had to deal with him now.
Igor would give Vladimir a phone call, claiming to want to talk to him. Vladimir would show up at Igor's old family home.
Igor: Hey Vladimir, I'm glad that you could visit.
Vladimir: So this is your old family home. It looks abandoned.
Igor: Yeah, it has been abandoned for a long time. It would make for the perfect place to burn to the ground.
Vladimir: What are you talking about?
Igor: Why don't we see that?
Igor got out his gun and shot Vladimir in the leg, collapsing him to the ground.
Vladimir: I don't understand, what you are doing.
Igor: To maintain the strength of our nation, I must maintain my power.
Vladimir had a look of horror when he heard this. The man who he had considered his best friend had fallen this far into power-hungry attention seeking and was about to kill him. Igor wasn't going to shoot him to death, though he wanted to go for a different route, one that would direct all suspicion away from him. Igor set fire to the home, letting Vladimir burn to death inside. Igor would also burn his face, leaving a scar. He then left the house, causing his house to be burned to the ground. He then called the fire department when he could be sure that Vladimir was dead.
The word of the fire and Igor barely surviving spread like a wildfire itself. Igor would give a speech about this soon after to the public.
Igor: Today is a very sad day. A tragic accident happened while I and my best friend Vladimir were hanging out in my old home. The building caught on fire. I tried to save my friend, but it was too late. I was only barely able to escape, and it left me with this scar. However, my resolve to strengthen our glorious nation has not deteriorated. We will keep going.
Igor was able to play the role of crying sad victim really well, however there was not a hint of genuine sadness, it was all an act, an act he played very well. The entire media and public praised Igor's speech and showed him a lot of sympathies. All of them had no idea of the truth behind Vladimir's death and the real role Igor played. Igor had played everyone and convinced the public to support him fully.
Igor was later able to use his influence in the government to frame the fire as a terrorist plot to assassinate him. Igor would use these "assassination attempts" as an excuse to give himself more and more power over the government. Igor would continue purging the government of numerous people and, through it, increase his stranglehold over the entire government.
At this point, the old Igor was dead and now the new ruthless, tyrannical Chancellor Ferdinand was born. Igor declared himself Chancellor, wielding more power over a government than anyone since Stalin. Chancellor Ferdinand loved his power and the attention it gave him. Chancellor Ferdinand, after declaring himself Chancellor, gave a speech to the public.
Chancellor Ferdinand: Greetings, my esteemed citizens. It has been a rough few days since I learned about the attempt on my life. I have been working hard to track down the men responsible. I will not rest until they are found no matter what I have to do. The power I have will be used to strengthen my commitment to finding the ones responsible for this, no matter the cost.
Chancellor Ferdinand had nearly the entire public on his side, but some were getting weary over his increasing amount of power over the government. For a time, Chancellor Ferdinand ignored it and continued to increase the stranglehold he had over the government while at the same time continuing to use the excuse of tracking down the terrorists that nearly killed him, terrorists that never existed.
