A/N: I like doing little writings and such. They keep me from losing my mind completely and forgetting that I can actually write. This is just a little number of how I thought a certain vampire could meet someone that he cares about later on…
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
David's eyes tracked the girl with the unusually pleasant scent that he couldn't shake as she argued with the boy that she had trusted for a few days to help her navigate this town. David could feel his Boys listening in, hidden close by. All of them were waiting for the right moment.
"You're nothing but a no good thief!" the girl said, pushing herself to her feet. "I should have known better than to trust you, bastard!"
I could have told you that, David thought, glad that she was wearing some of the gifts that he'd left in her hotel room. You can't trust someone you meet on the streets, sweetheart…
The girl threw her glass of soda at the boy and turned, storming away. David brought his drink to his lips, downed it, and then set the glass upside down. Rising to his feet, he knew that the boy that had cheated the girl out of so much, would not make it to the next day.
David followed after her at a distance, using his vampiric abilities to stay undetected. The girl turned into an alley after several minutes and paused. David stayed in the shadows, waiting, watching.
"I know you're following me," the girl said, her body relaxed as much as he had seen it in her visit to Santa Carla. "Whoever you are, you can give it up now. I don't have anything you could possibly want."
"Is that so?" David whispered, letting her hear him.
The girl shook her head. "I don't. Hell, after what just happened, I'm going to cut my trip here short and go home to my parents with what little money I have left."
David suppressed the growl in his throat. I don't want that…
"You don't sound eager to go back…"
"You wouldn't be either if you lived the life I live with them." The girl turned her head but didn't see him, not that she seemed to be looking for him. "Starvation, abuse of all kinds but sexual…exorcisms…"
"Why would they try to exorcise you more than once?"
"You'd have to ask them, but what else do you exorcise a person for but to remove evil from them?" She shook her head and her hair rippled around her shoulders. "I must be really evil to endure six so far."
David's heart ached. "You're not evil."
"You don't even know me."
I want to know more…"That's what you think."
"Stalker much?"
David chuckled and circled her, remaining in the shadows. "You have no idea what a real stalker is if you think that I'm a stalker, princess."
He watched as confusion spread across her face. "You – no one's ever called me that…"
"You deserve the title, though."
"The fuck I do!" the girl protested, shaking her head and squeezing her eyes shut. "I don't deserve the niceties of the world!"
"Says who?"
"Says me."
"You're more deserving than you think, sweetheart."
"Stop it!" the girl ordered, stomping her foot. "I don't like being teased like this! You are being mean with the compliments that I don't deserve."
David blinked and looked at her through the darkness. "You really are that broken? That lost in this world?"
The girl wrapped her arms around herself like she was holding herself together. She nodded and looked at the ground like she wanted to be a part of it.
Or under it…
David moved behind her and put his hand over her eyes. The girl stiffened and her heart started racing. David held her safely in his arms and tried to forget that she was this fragile little human. A human that he felt called to.
David brought his lips to her ear. "You don't have to be lost in this world alone, princess…"
"What's that supposed to mean?" the girl demanded, her voice barely a whisper.
"You'll find us when the time is right," David promised, pressing a kiss to her lips.
The girl's lips tasted so sweet against his and David had to pull himself away, had to tell himself that he couldn't take her at that moment.
"We'll be watching," David said, disappearing once more into the shadows.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The leader of the Lost Boys stood outside on the balcony as the girl entered her hotel room. She let out a cry of surprise when she saw the amount of money laying scattered on the bed. She pressed a hand to her lips and fell to her knees at the side of the bed.
David wondered if she was going to pass out, but she remained conscious. Slowly, she lowered her hand and smiled softly.
"Thank you," she whispered, closing her eyes and touching her lips once more.
David wished that he could kiss her again, but he turned and jumped off the balcony. There would be time for that later…
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
