(After the news broke, anyone who's anyone shows up at the penthouse to discuss the shock. Later that evening, Nate goes looking for Serena who had disappeared among the chaos. Nate finds Serena in her bedroom)
(Knocking before entering) Nate: "Hey, I'm heading out."
Serena: "Ok…" (Barely acknowledging him)
Nate: "What are you doing?" (Noticing that her laptop was open to the Gossip Girl page)
Serena: "Looking over everything."
Nate: "You mean torturing yourself" (Closing the laptop)
Serena: "I can't help it. How can I not. How could he? I just don 't understand how Dan of all people…" (Defeated)
Nate: "You read the blast, he wanted into our world and he used Gossip Girl to do it."
Serena: "How are you ok with all of this Nate? Aren't you angry?"
Nate: "I'm more shocked than angry."
Serena: "You would be. Dan barely wrote anything about you. Or Jenny, or Vanessa, or whoever was in charge of writing about you…"
Nate: "I think it was Vanessa."
Serena: "That's not the point Nate. And they have the nerve to blame it on us and our world…"
Nate: "And they're right. We're all guilty of it.(Sitting on the bed next to her) We've all sent in tips to Gossip Girl in hopes of taking each other down at one point or another. This world makes people do crazy things. That's why you ran away right?"
Serena: "A girl runs away one time…(laughing a little) How are you so light hearted about all of this?"
Nate: "I think I'm just trying to see it from their point of view. Do you ever wonder what our lives would have been like if we didn't grow up with money? How many times have we thrown money at a situation to get ourselves out of trouble? Or used our family connections to get ourselves into certain situations…Maybe I'm a little biased because my family almost went broke…, I don't know. I remember I was too embarrassed to tell any of you and Dan and his family took me in. To be in a real home with a family who wasn't concerned about money…it was nice."
Serena: "I guess we use our money a lot, but it's not our fault that we have certain privileges."
Nate: "You're right, but we don't have to use them every chance we get. What is this world without money? Who are we without our money?"
Serena: "I see your point… I just feel so betrayed, especially by Dan. He was my first love Nate. Now I feel like all of those memories were lies. I guess I thought Dan and I would find a way back to each other."
Nate: "You still love him?"
Serena: "I don't know anymore."
Nate: "Dan was your first love…you were mine…I was Blair's…and Blair was Chuck's. Still is, and…"
Serena: "Now they are getting married. Did you ever think?"
Nate: "A little… I better get going, I have an early morning at the Spectator and I have a bachelor party to plan."
Serena: "Thanks for talking to me. Adding some form of clarity."
Nate: "No problem, and look at it this way, it's a scandal and like every other scandal, it will blow over in no time."
(Serena gives Nate a look)
Nate: "Ok, so maybe in a couple of months…a year tops."
Serena: "Goodnight Nate."
Nate: "Goodnight. (Hugging her)
