(The following morning, Rufus and Lily are in the kitchen talking)

Lily: "Are you alright Rufus?"

Rufus: "I don't know. I just keep thinking about Charlie… I mean Ivy. Because all of our information was from some website, this girl actually…"

Lily: "Dan and Jenny are not responsible for that girl's actions. You can't blame them for that."

Rufus: "I know. I think it's hard to come to terms with the fact that my kids are not who I thought they were."

Lily: "Or is it that they're not who you wanted them to be? If my children have taught me anything, it's that you have to let them grow up and become who they are going to be. You just have to accept them and love them despite their choices. If I didn't, I don't think I would have Serena and Eric in my life. I would be a complete stranger to my kids. And I know you don't want that with Dan and Jenny…"

Rufus: "I don't…Wow Lil that was really profound."

Lily: "Impressed? I've learned a few things over the years. Plus, I've been taking notes from you. I've always envied the relationship that you have with Dan and Jenny."

Rufus: "You haven't done so bad for yourself…We're a good family right?"

Lily: "Not the most conventional, but happy, healthy, together."

Rufus: "I love you Mrs. Humphrey."

Lily: "I love you too Rufus."

(Kissing across the counter)

Jenny: "Is it safe to come out?" (Waving one of Dan's white shirts on the outside of the door)

Rufus: "Yes. Come out please. Waffles are hot and ready."

Dan: "We're sorry Dad."

Jenny: "Yeah, we're sorry."

Rufus: "I know you are. I'm still proud of who the two of you have become, and that's what is most important."

(Dan and Jenny smile)

Dan: "Pass the waffles please." (Sitting down)

Jenny: "Someone pass the chocolate chips."
