From The Daelie Faerie
There has been much talk about one of our humble village's greatly admired firefaries. She is a true friend to all who meet her and many fair folk have sought to win her heart, but all attempts thus far have come to naught. Now it is known why.
Yestereve, a small spark from a wayward firefly set a patch of kindling grass aflame in the outer boroughs of Fairytown, where our most renowned firefairy is known to keep watch. Only one humble fairyhouse was caught in the flames, but she was seen racing there atop her loyal feline steed with no less speed.
Her brave Kit pounced on the outlying flames and our beloved firefairy leaped into the kindling cottage, dodging between burning sticks and petals that once adorned it. All of Fairytown held its breath as she vanished inside. The fire popped and crackled without.
Just as all seemed ready to collapse, she burst from the wreckage, carrying a fairy over her shoulder. Her loyal Kit came to meet her and she fluttered down onto its back, where she lay down the soot-streaked fairy, both coughing the ash from their lungs.
The water brigade came in from above to douse the flames, but witnesses attest that rather than rising up to direct them, this time our firefairie only had eyes for her patient. Hardly pausing to catch their breath from coughing, the fairies embraced, and once it was plain they were both well, they rode off on Kit, away from prying eyes.
Sources reveal that the mystery fairy is in fact our beloved firefairy's wife, who has lived a quiet life on the edge of Fairytown all these years, helping to maintain our precious reservoir. Of course, Fairytown will not leave its beloved firefairy and her wife without a home; work is being done now to repair and rebuild their fairyhouse, and all of Fairytown is keeping an eye out for the couple.
